We got a couple of things to eat today. I myself got the beef steak sandwich, which came with fries, and an au jus like sauce. It was good. Decently sized portions for the sandwich and also the fries. Not really sure what the faux au jus sauce was, but it was just okay. But the NY steak strips were tender, and good. Definitely a philly cheesesteak ish type feel to this sandwich. Final verdict; The Monica is a jack of all trades kind of a restaurant which I'm sure we've all had in our own areas. We got seated immediately with menus in the bar area and the bartender was our server for the evening. He was super knowledgeable and gave recommendations and let us know about the specials which was mozzarella sticks with a bacon fat marinara to which we ordered. My husband got the prime rib cheesesteak, I had a burger, and my friend had the lobster roll. I expected the mozzarella sticks to come out first but they came out with all of our food which was fine. The mozzarella sticks really lacked luster the breading was un flavorful and the bacon fat marinara sauce was actually not good either. The burger was maybe 4/10 they just cook the burgers well done - I was never asked how I wanted my burger. The bun ended up non existent half way through. The chips were interesting I think they must fry them in the bacon fat or a blend because the same flavor was in the marinara sauce which wasn't good. Hy husband loved his cheesesteak said it was great. My friend loved her lobster roll, she agreed with other reviews of the ratio of butter and mayo was great vs ones she has had in the past. We all didn't eat the chips. I think if they were fried in a regular oil it would've been fine or given the option of just plain fries would've been a nice substitute. It felt wasteful. Loved their large bar selection, would've loved to see a mocktail on the menu.

The stacked scalloped potatoes are unlike any you've ever had: creamy on the inside and crisp on the edges, and asparagus, my fave. We shared the gluten-free flourless chocolate cake with chocolate syrup and real (of course) whipped cream. Sorry no pic of dessert, but we went after it the second it hit the table, lol. Dark clouds were moving in from the South so I wasn't sure if the patio was still open when I walked in at 3:15pm on a Friday. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. While the patio was open, the host did tell me it was windy and that I could sit inside with my dog in the covered dining area off the patio. "Is she friendly?" he asked me. "As long as no other dogs are around!" I replied. My dog was tired from her vaccines and was very quiet. She lay down and snoozed throughout my meal, although I did toss her some chicken when no one was looking. I was only the third table back there. I ordered chips and salsa ($1 extra) and my Chicken Burro enchilada style came out moments later. Service was excellent throughout my meal. I ordered the sour cream-green chile sauce over my burro. It was very tasty! The chicken was good, but the rice was very salty. The flour tortilla was thick, too. I ate it all because I was hungry. I like how this restaurant is designed. The bar is in the front, separated by a long hall way that then opens into two separate dining areas. One dining area is its own room and both face the patio. The patio has a large cascading water fountain that I'm sure is lovely on a summer evening. I will definitely be back!

It saddens me to say this about a long-time Tucson staple, but I was not a huge fan of Poco and Mom's. I got the Silver City breakfast and added red chile pork. It's hash browns smothered with onion, green chile sauce, eggs, red chile pork, and cheese. I will start off by saying that the green chile sauce was good; tangy and flavorful. However, I did not enjoy the taste or texture of the hash browns - to me, they tasted like they were rehydrated dry hash browns from a box. The red chile pork was dry and tough, but the red chile sauce itself was fine. This breakfast was accompanied by a side of refried beans, which were on the blander side compared to most I've had at restaurants in Tucson. Another person in my party had the New Mexico red chile enchilada. This is where things went more downhill. The red chile sauce tasted bitter and almost burnt, nothing like I've had in New Mexico. It was not good. Their dish came with a side of rice which was also very underwhelming. The flavor was fine, but it didn't have that light and fluffy texture that good Mexican rice does - it was more dense and slightly gummy. The last person in our party got a ground beef chimi and didn't enjoy the flavor of the seasoning used on the ground beef. Could be a personal preference thing. They did enjoy the sauce it was smothered with, though. I did enjoy the atmosphere in Poco and Mom's. It is very cozy and the southwestern decor was charming. Our waitress was also great! I may be back to try their drinks or their sopapillas, but I don't think I'd return for anything else.

I've had the server take samples like this, many times, back to the kitchen to show the cook. Nothing has helped. By now, I figure I've lost a whole salad in the past month. So, do I stop going to The Station? Do I stop ordering the $10 salad? Why can't this be fixed? The service is great and friend has no problems with the burger. I love the chicken tacos. This is a minor problem in the grand scheme of life, but it sure is irritating.

This place is located in an artsy / entertainment district close to downtown. When we went, there was road construction nearby that made getting here more challenging. Once we located it, the next challenge was parking. We visited around noon on a Saturday. There are no large parking lots, so you have to find something on-street. We ventured a couple of blocks off the main street and found something. However, the signage wasn't really clear on whether you had to pay on weekends or not. We accessed the parking app via a QR code, but it told us that our space 'was not available', despite the fact that we were in the space. A guy leaving the space next to us confirmed that parking *was* free on weekends, so we trusted that and walked to the restaurant. In retrospect, I think the app meant that we did not need to pay, but 'not available' seems a bit vague for that... The restaurant is located on a strip of old storefronts that now house restaurants, record shops, etc. There was a lot of pedestrian traffic out front, including a homeless guy asking for change. The atmosphere was sort of a loud, slightly cramped dive bar. I don't mean that in a bad way, but that was the vibe. The music was loud - none of it was familiar but I didn't hate it. I guess my point is that if you are looking for a quiet spot for lunch, this is probably not it. We initially were offered a table on their covered patio. We left one person there while sorting out parking, but when we came back they had a booth inside so we grabbed that instead. The patio seemed shaded and semi-comfortable, other than a loud barking dog. We browsed the menus and ordered our food. We all got half-and-half combos (soup/salad or sandwich/soup). The only issue was that the soups came in a bread bowl. I was able to finish my soup, but felt bad about not eating more of the bowl. If I'd had the option, I would have gotten a plastic bowl. The salad was pretty big, despite being only half. I finished most of it. We ended up having sufficient leftovers from others such that we took them back to our hotel (a relatively short drive) and finished them the next evening. All the food was tasty. This wasn't what I was expecting, but I'd consider eating here again given the right circumstances / group.
