We went here because the other 2 places we tried going to were too long of a line (they just opened). We were pleasantly surprised with this place. I had heard about it once in passing but never really looked it up or anything. Every employee we came in contact with was so very nice and helpful when it came to our kids. I loved how the interior looked and it's nice and bright inside from natural lighting from the windows. The food was outstanding. There was not a bad thing to say about anything in our experience. Had the opportunity to try Doughbird today. From what I gathered, they've been in Tucson for about two years and are part of a smaller chain operating in three states. The space is clean, bright, and thoughtfully laid out, with an open feel and a cool sports bar area. Service was friendly and attentive--our server did a great job. The food was tasty, but I didn't feel it was a good value for the price. In my opinion, each entrée was about $5 higher than fair. The mac & cheese was flavorful, and the chicken fingers had great texture and taste, but for $20 there wasn't much meat. I understand prices have risen everywhere, but this still felt excessive. We came here for Valentine's Day dinner which is also our wedding anniversary. We made an early reservation at 4pm and it was a nice easy in and out. The food was great! Easily the best pizza I've had in Tucson. It was even better the next day! My husband got the prime rib dip sammie it was 24$ and there was not $24 worth of meat on the sandwich, that was our only negative. Enjoyed Doughbird as part of Sonoran Restaurant Week. They were offering a great deal with items that can be regularly found on their menu. So first up we picked the appetizer of chicken wings. You can choose dry rub or buffalo sauce and our amazing server Matthew recommended dry rub with buffalo sauce on side. Follow this advice!! The wings are not scrawny and the dry rub gets a crispy skin with good bite, then dipping into sauce gives extra flavor with as my daughter pointed out, less mess. Sauce had nice kick to it. For entrees the daughter picked the spicy pasta and I got a pepperoni pizza. The pizza was huge! Enough for a second meal. It has the smaller pepperoni pieces on it, that bake to that nice crispy fry which is so much better than large greasy pieces. Good crust. The daughters pasta was good, and a healthy recommended serving size (ie, she ate a slice of my pizza after ) but it came with a lot of sauce, which was nice to dip the pizza crust into. The sonoran week special ends with a dessert, and once again took Matthew's recommendation of the butterscotch cake with vanilla bean gelato. The gelato was delicious, nice and smooth. The butterscotch cake had a crunchy outside with a moist inside, covered in sauce. If the daughter hadn't been so full she would have licked the plate. Will be back to try the chicken sandwich, which Matthew highly recommended. Ambiance is also lovely and the patio is great for beautiful days/evenings. read more

I've been wanting to come here for a long time and finally pulled the trigger. The food was outstanding. The service was excellent and they have a large dog friendly patio that welcomed my 97 poodle. The chicken dishes and pizza at Doughbird are excellent. The chicken is always perfectly prepared, moist, and flavorful. Staff members are friendly and attentive. One recent experience prompts me to make a suggestion. My husband and I ordered the chicken tenders that come with Cole slaw and fries. We both have issues with blood pressure and cholesterol, so we asked if we could have mashed potatoes instead of fries. The server said yes and made a note. The menu shows a list of sides at $8 apiece. Among them are Cole slaw, fries, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. All of the sides are the same price. The server never mentioned an upcharge for mashed potatoes instead of fries. When the bill arrived, it included a $3.00 charge for the change. Because of some recent unforeseen expenses, we watch our budget closely and only order what we can afford. There is no notice or mention of substitution upcharges on the printed menu. I explained to the server that if she had notified us, I would have chosen just to deal with the fries and would not have paid to change. She said that the fee was a policy and their regular practice. The restaurant needs to give notice of this in the menu and needs to have servers warn the customer that there is a fee for a substitution. We thought that given the same price for fries as for mashed potatoes as side orders, there should be no charge to make the change. The manager came over to discuss it with us, and she said that she redid the invoice to give us a military discount that was $2.95 ((10 percent), instead of removing the upcharge. It did not strike us as easy to obtain this adjustment. Also, my husband was in the Air Force for several years, and we had never seen any evidence of a military discount, which would have been helpful on previous occasions. read more

Tenders come with an incredible coleslaw, very fresh and beautifully seasoned. Pizza was super tasty. Their Detroit style crust rocks. We topped it off with their brookie. Now that was a mistake. It is unnecessarily super duper sweet. I liked the chewiness of some parts of it whereas other parts were hard and crunchy. This place is a staple in the north side for sure. Today came in at 5:25pm and man did it get so busy so fast on a Thursday. Definitely might have to wait during the dinner hour but inside is nice. Casual but also classy with a large bar and open kitchen. Food is always good, but I do think the prices are a bit high. I ordered the chicken parm with truffle orzo and that orzo was DELICIOUS! Hefty price of $26 for the meal but was very delicious so if you want to fork out the money it's a good choice. Austin was really nice and patient with us. Friend said the drink was good. The food came fairly quickly. The Parmesan Truffle french fries were delicious; hot, crispy, and flavorful. The truffle sauce was really good. I ordered the Tuna Sashimi salad; friend had the Caesar salad with crispy chicken. My salad had a touch too much dressing but was still very good. We did a group event here for dinner one night. We were all excited to go as none of us have ever been here. It is a large restaurant, and the seating is great with spacing and not bumping in to one another. The food was very good. The restaurant was clean as was the rest rooms. Hostesses seemed a bit confused though when we walked in, even though we had reservations. But they quickly got everything together for us and it worked just fine. The service on the other hand was horrible! The waiter forgot two of our orders completely. He took only part of the tables' orders and then walked off! We had to flag him down to get him to resume taking our order. I was so disappointed in the service here. The only thing i can say is go in with high expectations on the food, but not the service. They specialize in pizza and chicken hence the name. Definitely try out their thin crust pizza, I got their Hawaiian version. It has a kick to it but it's not that hot. The place is very popular that parking is hard to come by so arrive early. I think it's because they are next to Flower Child, another restaurant so it's easy to get confused on which restaurant to go to. They have outdoor seating as well which I highly recommend while the weather is cool. For our group of 6, we were lucky to get a sample of their thin crust pizza because their kitchen staff made one extra by mistake, it's part of the reason why I ordered one for myself. I had a great meal at doughbird! The atmosphere and service was great. I ordered half Hawaiian, half barbecue chicken on detroit style pizza. The crust was amazing!! The edges were crispy but the center was light and soft. I appreciated that the pizza wasn't too dense- something i've had an issue with other Detroit style pizzas. I wish there was a little more sauce, but not a big issue at all!! My boyfriend ordered the aviator. Nothing too special with the toppings but very tasty! We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, but they came out after our food. But, our waiter was nice enough to bring us a free dessert. The peanut butter brookie was incredible. The staff/management are all so friendly, professional, knowledgeable about the menu items, and accommodating. We had the Pepperoni with Fresh Mozzarella, Copper Hat, and BBQ Chicken (GF crust) pizzas and they were all fantastic. The Copper Hat was a standout for me. I understand the brunch was busy but please prepare for crowds. Our service was mediocre. No checking on our table of six. No refills offered. The milk for my grandson never arrived. The food was not anything special. The Mediterranean salad was drenched with dressing and no pita bread ever arrived.
