I picked up a pizza like I have dozens of times over years. I usually like the staff and of course the pizza that's why this is the place we order from. I unfortunately grabbed cash thinking the price with the coupon was going to be 20 dollars. Unfortunately I was short two dollars and 86 cents. I went out to car and managed to scrape change together. i brought it back in and as we counted I realized i was still 20cents short. I asked if it was ok to forgive the 20 cents and next time I came I would make up the difference. Mary was so rude about it . She acted like it was dollars. I should have just left the pizza. I grew up on the southside of Chicago and had been to Nino's as a child. It's been many years since I had dined there. Tonight's experience was an eye opener. You see things as an adult that you don't notice as a child. When we entered the restaurant, we were promptly greeted and seated. The seating arrangements in the restaurant needs some attention. Tables are so closely clumped together that we were bumping into other tables. As soon as we sat down, we noticed that the floors were absolutely filthy. Does anyone sweep or mop the floors in this place? There were so many little piles of food, crumps and all kinds of stains on the floor but that's not the worst of it. I looked up. The ceiling was caked with dust. Pray that none of that soot falls into your food. The menu pricing seemed fair enough to stay. Maybe the food and service will make the experience a little better. Our waitress was quick to take our beverage and appetizer order. The appetizers were adequate. There wasn't much to the appetizers. The calamari was all rings and a little weak on quantity in comparison to other restaurants at the same price. The combo platter was not supposed to come with french fries but two rogue fries made their way to the plate. That made me question the readiness and preparedness of the deep fryer. Our waitress was far and few to be seen. When we needed refills she wasn't around. It took forever to get our drinks refilled. I'm not even sure if we received clean glasses after each refill. I was about to stand up, walk to the bar and get my own refill from the bartender. It would've been a great excuse to meet her. She was pretty cute. Our waitress eventually did come back, took our pizza order, clean the table of our emptied appetizer plates and came back with our first refill. Ok, I'm going to pause here for a second and give a little credit to the waitress. She was one of two and her area was filling up with customers. Our pizza came out. It was just as good as I remembered as a child. Nino's does make absolutely awesome pizza but after dining in the restaurant, I would consider Nino's for delivery only. This place is family owned and the staff was attentive and friendly. I've been to the Wendy's just south of there and the Baker's Square just west and never noticed this place, I've been a fool. I have lived my whole life in the south suburbs. I have ordered pizza from just about every place there is.... well except Little Cesar's and until recently, Nino's. We came here for a gathering of people when a friend was in town and craving some good pizza. Apparently if you move out of Chicago, you have to binge eat pizza when back home. So we ended up here with a group of people. The service wasn't spectacular or anything amazing. The server took orders and brought drinks but not super face and didn't chatter with us. To be fair, we looked like a younger group (though most of us are getting up there in age) and she might not be expecting good tips from us. But it was all worth it when the pizza arrived. We got thin crust with pepperoni and mushrooms. The pizza was piping hot and delicious. If I was a terrible person, I would have snagged the leftovers and told the friend from out of town too bad. But I nicely let them take home the leftovers. I was surprised that I had never been to this place, never tried their pizza, but also that nobody told me how good the pizza tastes here! I mean, what are friends for if they don't tell you about places like these! The ambiance is a little dive-y with the red-checkered table cloths, crappy old big screen tv's, and very dim lighting. It doesn't exactly scream cheerful and happy, but at the same time, you get that environment in crappy corporate chain restaurants. I'd rather come here and have good food and not care what the place looks like. So don't let the atmosphere scare you away. Stick around for a freshly made pizza before making any judgments. Definitely worth a try! My partner came back again without me (jerk) and had a sandwich and some other menu items then raved about how good they were (again, jerk). My wife and I are Chicago born and bred, and Chicago is a pizza mecca. We've had the luck and joy of experiencing nearly every top-rated pizza place in the area: Chesdan's, Gino's, Phil's, Vito & Nick's, Palermo's, Malnati's, Home Run Inn, Piece, Lugano's, etc., etc. But Nino's has been our go-to pizza place for the past 10 years. We are fans of thin-crust, and Nino's does it right. A little corn meal on the bottom of a crisp, cracker-crust, toppings piled high, sweet yet spicy sauce with more than enough gooey mozz that you don't even need to say "extra cheese" if that's something you're used to saying! If you have the opportunity to dine-in, go for it! This is a dark, old-world, friendly restaurant. It reminds me of the local pizza places my folks used to take me to when I was a kid in the '70s. Some might say it's a little divey but I'd call it nostalgic. Only problem I have here is the price-per-topping. If you get a cheese or sausage pizza everything's square. But sometimes we like to have "kitchen sink" pizzas... and that would break our budget. On a large pizza, you're talking about an extra $2.00 per topping. Sorry if I sound cheap, but $6 for onions, green peppers and black olives on a large pizza is a little steep. So we usually settle for less than what we really want. I'm waiting to see a ValPak coupon for something like "2 free ingredients on any size pizza". As a suggestion, a nice bonus to reward frequent customers would be loyalty tokens ("Collect 20 receipts/shields/coins and get a free pizza.") Rewards like these made sure we kept ordering from places like Papa Joe's, Aurelio's and even Pizza Plus in Hometown. Regardless, it would take a great deal of effort to stop us from ordering from Nino's. Once you've found a pizza place that has met your standards, it becomes a challenge for any other pizza place to try to get your business. read more

After hearing positive things about Nino's Pizza, we decided to give it a try. #1- The service was good. The hostess and server were both very friendly with a sense of humor. #2- The pizza was ok. Not bad but also not anything to rave about. The crust was decent and the top was browned nicely, decent amount of toppings, but the sauce was pretty bland. #3- It really wasn't a big deal that the decor needs some major updates. The bigger problem is the restroom is a shambles.....loose tiles, stained sinks and counter tops and PAPER NAPKINS TO DRY YOUR HANDS!! REALLY!?!? Super Bowl Sunday delivery experience. Ordered 2 pizzas mozzarella sticks and an order of cheese fries. $40. Was told it would be an hour... understandably. We live five minutes from the restaurant mind you. Hour and a half later the delivery guy shows up as if he has never heard a barking dog in his life, walks out and then begins to turn back to his jeep. My wife opens the door and says hello and he replies that he was concerned about the dog inside. I was holding my dog keeping him from the door. Ok whatever I'm ranting. Bring the food inside. Our company is starving awaiting the food and it's all cold. Call up immediately to complain and was told by the catering "manager" that they were backed up only a little bit but that the orders were coming out fresh. Ok that's great but when it arrived at my door it's cold. He gave us the runaround saying he didn't know what he could do. We asked to talk to a manager and he was the manager. Then he said he could give us 10% off our next order. Uhhhhh no we would like our money back, I'll drive this cold food right back to you myself. Uhhhh I guess I could do 20%. Not sympathetic or apologetic at all. Just dead silence on his end. Not at all happy with how Nino's "management" handled our situation. Not, oh can we replace your order next time or what can we do to fix this. Nothing but 20% off our next order and that was only because he was getting tired of hearing from me and my wife. Best pizza in the Oak Lawn/South side of Chicago area by far. The pizza sauce is home made and tastes fresh. Even the dough tastes great. I love that they have both deep dish and thin crust, both for a reasonable price. My wife and daughter like the thin crust, while my sons and I prefer the deep dish. My only complaint is that it tends to take a long time to get the pizza after ordering (usually 45 minutes or more). But it is a small price to pay for fresh, made to order pizza. Never had a bad pizza here! Good Chicago style pizza, good appetizers, the wings are very good too. The inside could use some upgrading but the ambiance is old time pizza place. However, I love the window to the kitchen, allows the consumer to see their kitchen cleanliness while preparing the food. One bad mark for time, they over exaggerate time for pick up, they always say 25-30 minutes, I'll get there within 20 and my food will be ready. The picture posted of the inside of Nino's is very misleading. The dining space is huge and could easily fit 100 people. The interior is very dated, but it's old school, the way we do it on the south side. There were plenty of television screens lining the walls, some of which were playing college basketball and the others, the Blackhawks. My wife and I had cheese fries and mozzarella sticks for apps and a family-sized cheese pizza. The apps were good and the sticks are very big, as others have noted. The pizza was delicious. The thin crust was close to perfect. It had the crunch of a cracker but it wasn't ultra flat. It had a softness and volume to it that perfectly accompanied the crunch. Our server was very pleasant and the whole experience was a good one. 4.5 stars. read more

My family and I have been ordering from Nino's for over 35 years now. They had great food but recently the quality has declined. We used to order The Southside Special, which used to be loaded with ingredients and within the past couple years or so I have noticed it's not as good as it once was. They may have changed recipes, not sure. Yesterday my family ( group of 12) went in and ordered 4 different pizzas, one was The Southside. It was burnt. We notified the waitress and she offered to take it off the bill at first or start a new pie. We were not going to wait for another so we said take it off the bill. She then took the pizza away and came back with it saying that the cooks insist that that's the way the pizza is made and we should have requested it to be cooked less. Then said she could only refund us $5! Also, it is very low lit in the restaurant and if you look up towards the ceiling you will see the most nasty dusty light fixtures. It looks like they have never cleaned since they opened. Imagine all that nasty garbage ending up in your food! My family and I have decided we will not be ordering from them ever again. read more

I'm giving this place two stars because the food was good, the service however was really lacking. On a Friday night I counted 4 tables occupied, with at least 4 wait staff in the dining room. It took our waitress a good 5 minutes to get to us. We questioned why soft drinks didn't come with free refills, but the lemonade and ice tea did. We were told that they had to do that because of the soda tax. Oh, the one that was repealed close to a year ago? She then said that if they offered free refills that she would be running back and forth all night. When the drinks finally came, a good 5 minutes later, one was missing and another was wrong. Shortly after this a member of our party spilled her drink on the table. When the waitress was made aware of this, she brought napkins back and set them on the table for us to clean it up, while she took our order. We had now been in the restaurant for close to a half hour. From what I could see, this waitress didn't have any other tables. A member of our party had ordered ice tea, which did come with free refills. It didn't matter however because the waitress disappeared and never came to check on us. So the empty glass just sat there. When she finally did come back, she left to refill the iced tea. A few minutes later she returned with it, it was gone before she left again and was asked for another refill. She then said that if you were going to drink that much you "should have ordered a pitcher." By the time we left it was plain to see why the place wasn't busy on a Friday night. We had gone there for years. We took our clubs there and was so glad to find groupons for it. We will never go back and will tell all our friends, clubs and CFD coworkers too. They sold us groupons that didn't expire until January 2020. When we went the last time they sprung on us that our groupons were no good. We had 5 since we went so often. We were unable to get a refund, just a trade in for other groupon stuff. They treated us, loyal fans, so badly not to honor the groupons for Nino's they knew they were going to stop honoring, they should have stopped selling and they should have honored them up to the expiration date. This is really bad behavior. But the good side is we went to Nancy's. We love Nancy's Pizza much better. Nancy's now has us as regulars. Good ridden to a place that does not honor their word and treats there regulars so badly. read more

Horrible horrible experience !! We came in and the waitress had a terrible attitude and was SO rude to us. And why? Because SHE messed up OUR order! TWICE. How does that even make sense? We were polite when we addressed her about the mess up and she got pissed at us! We were so turned off by her attitude that we took our sh** to go. We should've just left and not paid for the food that hadn't come out yet but we aren't terrible people. The other waitresses were very polite apologetic about the whole thing. Obviously they know what a raging c*** their coworker is . I just don't know how she still has a job. In the restaurant industry at that. If you come in and a woman with short dark brown hair comes to serve you, ask for a different server or gtfo of there! Pizza was good though. Too bad we had to eat it in my car cause my husband and son were STARVING. We shouldn't have had to but she left us no choice but to leave. Horrible dining experience! First, our waitress had major attitude. The two of us asked for a diet beverage and when she came back one was not diet. When we told her we both wanted it, she gave major attitude saying that we never said it which is untrue. She could have just taken and replaced it. She also didn't really bus the plates which piled up. She also kept getting things wrong and forgetting no ice. Also the garlic bread was mushy and basically swimming with butter. The washrooms were horribly dirty and there were cobwebs all over the ceiling.
