Took the in-laws here for a big lunch. I would frequent here in High School! Me and some friends would go here after classes as a hangout and I love the food. The food is very diverse, its not truly authentic but it caters to our pallete and tastes. I especially am fond of the sushi bar and the pastry section. Me and my boyfriend decided to try a new place to eat and saw this place. There wasn't much for food selection and some of the food needed to be refilled and looked like it had been there for quite a while. The booths were to crowded together. The service was good but the food wasn't. We didn't eat much because we didn't like the food much. I really hate leaving a bad review but I thought the food would have tasted better from some of the reviews I saw. I was quite disappointed. The food was lacking in flavor and wasn't as fresh. Variety was slim. Items that were supposed to be crispy - weren't. The cheese wontons were stale and the chicken wings were soggy. The desserts were actually good but I'm pretty sure those were bought or made elsewhere. It was quite clean and the people were nice in there though so that's a saving grace. This place is ok so far it's my first time here they have the essentials of an Asian resturant typically what you'd expect from a buffet but the quality of food is lacking. I have eaten here probably around 10 times. If you come in expecting amazing food at these prices, don't come. The food is not great and the service is not amazing. But, if you're hungry, like really hungry you will find exceptional value here. It's good enough and I will say that I have never ever been sick here and I have a pretty weak stomach. I just had lunch there. Not so good. By the time you got through the breading of things like General Tso chicken, there was maybe a nickel sized piece of chicken there. After visiting with family, we chose to stop at the China Buffet before heading to San Antonio. The staff was friendly and attentive, but that's about all I can say that's positive. The food was cold, except for the sweet and sour chicken. The crab rangoons were very chewy and apparently they prepare them in the dining room (they started making them at the table behind us). We were really unsure, but it all went really good. Price was good and the food too, there were fresh salad options, sushi too, not a big options but it's taste was really good. Meat was really flavorful but some of them tasted the same, they had just two types of rice which tasted good, soup. Seafood was fresh and also fruit was fresh. I was just reviewing my reviews (haha!), and noticed I'd never written an update on China Buffet and wanted to do so. Since the time I wrote that two-star review things have definitely improved there. While what I call "the good sushi" (which means tuna, salmon, shrimp, and eel) is back, it's still basically just on the weekend....I presume because of rising costs. Anyway, the hot and sour soup is back to what it once was -- actually spicy and sour, with tofu in it -- and is again enjoyable. There seemed to be no problem with food temperatures the past few times I've gone, and the food is pretty good for a Chinese buffet in this area of the world. Since there are two very bad Chinese buffets in The Woodlands where I live, when I get the craving I now head up to Conroe and usually to China Buffet on the South Loop. read more

Halleluja! I finally found a good Chinese buffet near the Woodlands. I thought I was never going to find a decent Chinese buffet in this area. Think Chinese buffet circa late 1980's/early 1990's in style. I mean that in a good way. It covers all the basics. The food is good, and there is decent variety. It even has decent sushi. Not great sushi like you'd find at a good Japanese restaurant, but decent buffet sushi. It's quite good for a buffet. And it's super cheap. I mean dirt cheap. It's nothing to look at when you first drive up, and the interior is like a time warp. But who cares about the looks right? I mean it is located in Conroe, Texas. What do you expect? Chinatown? I can easily picture Jack Burton stopping here on a long haul, in that movie Big Trouble in Little China. It's like the rural East Texas version of a Chinese buffet, but it is surprisingly good. The food was okay with a large assortment of dishes, but some of the items were lukewarm. The restaurant was clean and wait staff was very polite. We saw on their website that they offered a 10% senior discount. When we got the bill my husband told the waitress we were both seniors and she said okay, but charged us the full price on our credit card. When my husband questioned it, the waitress was confused and had to bring the manager over to our table. He gave us the discount in cash since it was too much trouble to reprocess our card. read more
