Nite Owl gives the people what they want. Food you dream of past 1am. Drinks you wish you knew how to make. The staff Is very aware of what they are crafting. I often stop here after work. Have a drink and the tot-chos. I'm weak in the knees for anything covered in chorizo. Ordering at the bar is not a problem. You can think of Nite Owl as being someone's 70's themed basement with a bar. Seriously, check it out and you'll know what I'm talking about that. Personally, I lkve the funky vibe and the fact that this place is like nothing else in the city. Now that we got that out of the way, I'll start by saying that I've been here four or five times since it opened a few years ago. Until very recently, I've only ever had appetizers and drinks here. On this particular trip, I ordered the cheeseburger and tater tots. The burger was a little thicker than I would prefer, however, it was tasty. The aioli had a distinct mayonnaise taste which I didn't mind but for those that do, be sure to keep that in mind. The tots were good but much better in totcho form, in my opinion. Instead, go with the handcut fries. While Nite Owl has a limited beer selection, they have some interesting selections for the those that prefer something other than a macro beers. read more

The Nite owl is a great concept and is decorated in a way that reminds me of the Dundee Dell ( original location and in its prime) The drinks are solid and there is always an interesting selection of beers. The lack of table service is a little annoying, but you can get over it. The struggle is with the food. They have awesome sliders that are inexpensive and quite yummy, but because they haven't committed to table service, the food seldom comes to the right table, someone in your party doesn't get their food EVERY TIME and no one can ever be found to fix these issues. If they can figure out the food thing ( the numbers don't seem to be helping) then this place will be a " must stop" especially with the great outdoor seating. read more

First off I'm wavering between 3 and 4 stars and honestly if I had the choice would say 3 1/2. Had stopped in for a late lunch on a chilly Tuesday. There was a handful of folks and dear husband and I opted to sit at a booth. The menus on the table stated up front to order from the bar which DH said he had heard about. We perused the menu and wandered to the bar. It's awkward ... especially if they aren't very busy and if you aren't sure if the bartender was going to take a break from his cleaning, or of he was that good and could remember our order. DH was disappointed as the first 4 or more beers he read off the board and menu were out so he opted for a bourbon cocktail. As we waited for our food we were checking out the décor ... think a 70's basement but disjointedly so. Our tots came out first and at least 15 minutes later our sandwiches. The food was good and DH loved his burger and the two sliders I ordered were tasty but "the bird" was a bit bready but I loved the honey sriracha sauce. Getting a refill on my soda was easy during slow time, but I'm trying to picture it when they are busy. Perhaps hiring some servers is in their future ... and adding some more 70's kitsch wouldn't hurt either ;) read more

Went there with a large group about 12-15 people for the first time for some Tachos (tatertot nachos with chorizo) which were delicious. Unfortunately part of the dining experience was ruined when a friend sent back his wings to be warmed up because they were cold. An employee who I assume to be the manager walked over to our table with a disgruntled look on his face. He immediately started the conversation by saying that the wings were as warm as they are going to get. The employee proceeded to argue with a customer, telling him that he was wrong and that he tried the wings and that they were warm enough. He was eventually reimbursed for the wings but not before the server ruined the experience of 15 customers with his rudeness and lack of customer service. Rule number 1 the customer is always right. I hope for the sake of this restaraunt that this individual is not representative of how this restaraunt treats their customers. read more

Arrived there at 5pm on a Saturday with friends and an infant. The bartender was totally rude was talking about us to the people sitting at the bar but wouldn't address me directly, the bartender finally (without looking up at me) muttered something about no minors allowed. I was confused since it was 5pm and we were ordering food. He just kept repeating no minors without even looking up. I don't know any other establishment who won't service food to a minor accompanied by adults before 9 pm. read more

If I could rate this zero I definitely would. This is absolutely the worst concept I have ever seen in my life. Let me start by when you walk in they have a self service area to make your own waters and then there are no servers so you have to head up to the bar to place all yours orders. People line up like they are in a fast food line. Then right away you order and pay for everything upfront and are expected to tip them for ringing in the food since you already made your own water. There's 3 people here behind the bar and not one of these ladies can come out and wait on tables like a normal bar and grill? Never seen anything like this before, only if short staffed. Then the food gets out and I have tots instead of fries and mentioned I'm sorry I ordered fries. Her response, oh we are out of fries sorry and she was gone quicker than she came. The crab rangoons tasted like straight crab and the sweet and sour tasted like ketchup. I ordered a special. The blt with avocado. Well there was no avocado and the bacon was the greasiest I've ever seen or tasted in my life. The bread was soggy and the tomato was definitely mush before it was even put on the sandwhich. My fiancé got a burger, (all burgers are cooked medium) was straight raw like definitely medium rare with half the toppings it was suppose to have. Not sure how this place has such decent ratings but this place is a joke. read more

One of my favorite places to go in this part of town. Super casual. Great for anytime in the afternoon through the late evening. My favorite things to eat are, the Bahn mi slider, the Birdhouse slider and the Burger. I prefer the tots over the fries, I think they are crispier. All of the bartenders are top notch, especially Colin (sp?). They are very knowledgeable and have made every cocktail perfectly. It can be a bit loud, so if you want a quiet conversation/environment this isn't really the place. I love the movies they play behind the bar and the music selection- like I said above, one of my favorite places to go in this part of town. read more

Nite Owl looks like a cool place but unfortunately I've only tried it on Sunday. Nothing really wrong with the food but the fact that is not "Ramen" is what makes me have second thoughts about this place. I might give it another try sometime but definitely not on Sundays. read more

This review is based on the customer service and not the food. I don't live in Omaha, so I'm not sure of the state laws, etc. I do a lot of research and love to try new restaurants around the country that advertise vegan options and then write about them. The Vegan Omaha website listed this place in their restaurant guide and it looked intriguing to me. We showed up at lunch time (1:00) and found out it doesn't open until 3:00pm. That's fine...we'll come back for a late lunch early dinner. We went shopping and came back at 3:45pm. The doors were locked even though the sign on them said open at 3:00pm. I called the restaurant from my cell phone and a guy answered right away. I asked what time they open and he said 3:00. I said, "why are the doors locked?" He said, "because my manager is stupid and won't get off the computer to unlock the door." I just thought that was strange... maybe it is a big party spot. He came to unlock the door and said that my teenagers could not come in and had to be 21. This is what I do not understand. Maybe Nebraska has different laws than other areas, but it looked like a restaurant with a bar. I can understand that kids would not be able to sit at a bar or if it was after 8:00pm or something. But it was during the day and they are serving food. I just wish they would have advertised this on the website because I could have made other plans. It was just very disappointing to come through town to a place I researched and not be able to experience the food. read more

Shouldn't even give them one star. We went in on a Saturday at 3 in the afternoon and we were the ONLY people there. As soon as we walked in an employee rushed over to tell my pregnant sister in law she needed to get rid of her iced coffee....that had two sips left. After she went outside the establishment to finish her iced coffee she was asked to see her ID. Now, I understand the policy of being 21, however, there was literally NO ONE else there and she is very obviously 9 months pregnant and not going to drink...I'm sorry but haven't you humiliated her enough? You didn't make my mother in law show her ID...why the pregnant lady? Then she proceeded to order a water at the bar and was told "Water is self served at the door." Really?! Are you kidding me?! The beer the rest of us ordered was placed on the bar and we had to go up and get them....really people, NO ONE else is here! I would say the employee was having a bad day but it was more then one person. But don't worry, they had time to eat and take shots with another customer that came in. Customer service is a zero. Absolutely terrible. Don't go there unless it's 1am and you're super drunk. You won't notice the terrible service then. read more
