We ordered French toast with bacon, side of biscuits & gravy and the country scramble bowl. Even though the prices are low, their portions are large! We just moved to Chesapeake and always looking for a great breakfast joint. THIS IS IT!! We were immediately greeted upon walking in. We found an open table, and sat down. There were folks greeting each other at different tables, they sounded like regulars (always a great sign!). Our server took our drink order and gave us menus, then gave us our drinks and took our order. I had corned beef hash with potatoes and onions on the side, scrambled eggs and toast. My friend and i have beeen here prior to two times. Well they say third lucks a charm right? Well as always we ordered the 6 oz steak him (med/well) me (med). As soon, as they bring my steak out his is well done but he continues to eat. Mine on the other hand is well done and i ask if they could please recook me another steak that's medium instead. She brings me back my plate with the potatoes and scrambled eggs and tells me that my steak will be right out. Twenty minutes later my friend is done eating and i have eaten all of my sides still with no steak. So finally i ask another waitress (bc my waitress hadn't even come to check on us) could she please see what's the hold up as now I'm getting irritated. She returns back to tell me it'll be out soon as if the chef had just put my steak on the grill. The waitress comes with my steak and i cut it instantly and guess what...my steak is raw . Rolled in here for our most recent 757 Breakfast Club event - the place was packed to the hilt! With that kind of demand, I figured we were in for something special. Once we got a table, we were served drinks pretty quickly. The prices here are super affordable - I was able to order a basic breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and a biscuit for $5. They made a Mickey Mouse pancake for the kiddo and that was a big hit! Everything was pretty tasty overall, and we didn't have any big complaints. So why the 3 stars? It's just nothing special - typical breakfast diner fare, a sort of run-down hole in the wall look, average service - nothing that made us take notice that we needed to return for a second visit. Let me first by saying this is my second time that we went to this restaurant today. The first time was awesome so we went back and this time it was a total disaster First of all we waited 1 1/2 hours for our food to arrive at the table. We were told by our waiter that they were working on to go orders. I ordered an egg breakfast with a side of biscuits and gravy and biscuits and gravy were ice cold I sent them back and told them to take it off the bill, my husband ordered breakfast, which his came with the cheese the cheese was not even melted. That's how cold it was but my husband was hungry so he ate it. I watched a regular walk in. You can tell he was a regular . His ordered his food and was out the door within 10 minutes. I was totally shocked. I waited all day thinking about I just spent $20 plus a tip for ice cold food and I just couldn't let it go so that's why am posting this. I am very sad to say I will not go back again and I actually thought we found it a good little breakfast spot. An all time favorite. The one server who is there about every day for the last few years, she is kick ass. One of the only places you can go and get home cooked, actually tasty grits. Hands down the best place to get breakfast or brunch. It's crazy cheap, and it's literally like having your grandmother in the kitchen. The staff are super kind, and it just feels like home. Menu was decent with a board with specials and highlights. The Fried Trio caught my attention. It was fantastic. Went in for Father's Day breakfast. New to the area so we stopped in after seeing that Yelpers gave this place 4.5 stars. Service was friendly and attentive, but food took a long time to come out and missed the mark. Decor was just basic tables and chairs. Nothing fancy, which is perfect for a hole in the wall type place. My veggie skillet was a 99 percent potatoes. I saw only one mushroom and a few pieces of onion and pepper. Seriously? The eggs and cheese on top were fine. My wife's French toast tasted like it had missed the batter and was just straight toast. The pancakes were good sized but were very dense and heavy. Everything was very affordable, which is why it's getting 3 stars and not lower. It was a busy Father's Day morning, so it's possible that the food is better usually. I will have to come back to see if my experience is the norm. read more

Ok so at first glance, Nix doesn't look like much. My husband was leary but after getting through the door, we relaxed. The restaurant is setup like an old diner with cafeteria style seating, it's not a dump but it's far from fancy. We were by far, the youngest people in the place. The waitress was really sweet and sat at our table with us while we ordered. Warning to those looking to eat healthy - this is not the place for dieters! Most people sitting in the restaurant were older and over weight. I also think all the elders just left church and were congregating here. Coffee was folgers or maxwell house -1. The skillet breakfast was ridiculously good! I got the vegaterian and my husband got the country. We also got an order of pancakes just to try out. They were rubbery and I could only eat two bites because I was so full from the skillet! ****** We probably won't come back just because it's an old folks place and I probably just gained another 10 pounds. I would give this place no stars if I could. I went for breakfast and waited an hour and only had one iced tea. I asked where I food was and was told rudely that they were busy, even though people who came after us were eating. Our drinks were empty for 20 minutes and our food never came. We left and ended up eating at Waffle House and had food in 5 minutes. I will never recommend this place or come here again. Terrible service and rude waitress. read more
