I dined here the other day and it was great! The food and service were spot on! I tried the purple haze latte with oat milk, which is an April drink special. It was light and yummy. I had the spinach and avocado bowl; added bacon and had a fried egg instead of a poached one. Those rosemary mushrooms were a great complement to the dish. I've been wanting to try JoJack's for a while now and I'm so glad I made it in! I went in on a Thursday morning and it wasn't too busy. They have a lot of good looking things on the menu. I opted for the pumpkin praline pancake special and a dirty chai. The dirty chai had a great flavor. The pancakes were delicious and perfectly crispy on the edges. My only complaint is that the cinnamon sugar topping made them a little too sweet. But a wonderful breakfast nonetheless. The restaurant has a humble and comfortable atmosphere. Today I was on my own for brunch and although I have been a long time ago I decided to try JoJacks Cafe. It was later in the day so it wasn't busy. I really liked the laid back vibe in there. I ordered a seasonal dish of pumpkin praline pancakes with a pear ice tea. I loved that these pancakes had crispy edges but were soft in the middle. They were delicious. JoJack's is a cute lil spot in Portsmouth! We got a regular coffee which was presented so cute. I got the purple haze latte which is lavender and white chocolate. Super yummy!! I got the The Gamberetti sandwich. The shrimp was super delicious and flavorful, and it paired well with the avocado and tomatoes. It may sound like an odd mix, but it just works. My husband got the spinach, steak, and blue cheese wrap with a side of sausage gravy and fried mashed potato cakes. Both had really yummy flavors! Definitely more than just a hashbrown. Very good! I tried this place during the Summer of July 2024. I heard only good things about this place and figured I would give them a try. My husband and I were in the area, and I opted to visit the restaurant and placed an order to go. I'm thinking this place is pretty pricey, but perhaps, I am paying for quality I thought, because the wrap was very good and I was satisfied, not still hungry afterwards. My husband enjoyed his meal as well. Well wrap also. The place is just OK. This place definitely is not memorable, but if I lived close by, I may perhaps fequent it more than not. But not enough to run and tell everyone to try them out. The service was fast and to the point. I do recall, the restaurant having several dine in guests present. It's small inside, but quaint enough to enjoy the cozy atmosphere while you wait for your order or dine in. I do believe they have a drive thru or a pick up window outdoors as well. Came to this place because a neighbor said that it is a good coffee house and food was decent. The place was packed I thought to myself this place has to be great. Ohh boy, was I ever so wrong. I ordered the steak and sunny side up eggs, the yolk was beyond runny(uncooked)the steak was not a full on steak, it was steak tips I asked for medium and raw not rare. As it being steak tips I thought it should be fully cooked. Was I wrong again, the steak was raw. How do you go wrong on a simple plate of steak and eggs??? Almost forgot to mention when we got there the counter people did not speak to us till we started asking questions. Then gave us a look like we were supposed to know something. We are new to this town and area. I am not a mind reader. I can read people when they put off attitude. Had the right amount of lavender to not overpower the coffee. The monte cristo sandwich is absolutely delicious! It's a little on the pricier side but honestly it was well worth the money spent! First off I ordered the southern soul sandwich the taste was immaculate I would give it 9/10 my only complaint was too much pimento cheese kinda made the sandwich too sloppy to pick up. A friend and I checked Jojacks out a couple times and we really liked it! Walking in, you order at the counter, then they bring the food to you. Their coffee is the main reason I want to come back. It's SO GOOD. The food is pretty good, too. Last time I went I got the steak and eggs with potatoes. It was good. I wish the cheese melted on the potatoes, though. The steak was pretty good but it needed a bit more salt and pepper. I know people's taste buds are different, but it was just a little bland. They have some salt and pepper shakers at the front so it was no big deal. Whenever my friend and I want to get brunch, I always suggest this place. Table smackin' good. The grits are not overcooked nor runny. The eggs are perfectly cooked with the white part is done and a smooth yolk. Sopping that up with my grits! Crispy bacon (it's a bacon bowl) that is not burnt or raw. There's some sautéed onion and red bell pepper as well. It's not greasy and has a great flavor. My cardiologist would be proud! But, I did grab some in house made snackery for the teenagers at home. The staff here are very nice. I haven't been here in a while and they were patient with me going through the entire menu. I've been wanting to try more local coffee places near me and I was very happy to find this place. I read a few reviews before checking it out and I'm glad I did. For convenience I just went through the drive through, but make sure you have their menu saved because it does not seem like they have it posted anywhere that I saw. I ordered the Nutty Monkey Latte and got it iced, it was so delicious! If you love hazelnut I highly recommend this drink. I also ordered a build your own breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was very fresh with the cheese just melted everywhere, it was great. I gave a 4 star because the service was not great at first. The woman who took my order seemed like maybe she wasn't having the best day, but by the end of our interaction she was mostly pleasant. read more

Five star food!!! Ordered to-go, so I can't rate the service, but the hot grapes in the platters are the only thing I would change. I guess they are a signature addition to all the meals, but I don't know a soul on earth that enjoys warm/hot grapes. If I'm wrong, please feel free to comment somewhere below. Potatoes, eggs, and French toast are absolutely DIVINE, but portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller from my very first visit. We ordered the big breakfast that comes with 2 eggs , bacon or sausage, 2 pancakes and a breakfast side ( we chose Pan- fried potatoes). We also ordered the country bacon bowl- crumble bacon, grilled onions, roasted red peppers, cheddar cheese, poached eggs on top of a stone ground grits. both are very popular breakfast. They have lots of breakfast bowls and breakfast plates along with breakfast sandwiches and omelettes wonderful breakfast sides as well. Everything is made to order and plentiful. They have several tables available for dining in and they also have a drive-through. The lunch menu has salads, Panini Café sandwiches, diverse sandwich, combinations, and press burgers with lots of sides as well as super the day and many bread choices. I've really been sleeping in the foodie scene in Portsmouth, I've been discovering a lot of good restaurants there as of late and JoJack's is no exception. I've been here three times, and each time both the food and service have been both fabulous and delicious. I highly recommend their breakfast options. Their Banana's Foster's French toast is thee one! It's honesty some of the best french toast I've had in a while. Their pancakes are perfectly fluffy and moist, their sausage patties are flavorful and perfectly cooked, and I jumped for joy every time I took a bite of their sausage gravy breakfast bowl (Good God Almighty)! My highest compliments to their chef. In addition, their specialty drinks are amazing as well, be sure to grab one of their fresh juices, frappuccinos, or Italian sodas to go with your breakfast. I promise you won't be disappointed. Their service is always friendly, and any time I've had questions or requests for the staff, they were more than happy to help. Lastly, there is a beautiful butterfly wing mural on the side of the building for those of you who love snapping pictures for social media.
