It's been over a year since that first disappointing experience with the Low Down. Here's what has happened since I got that first one fixed. (Replaced the Movement according to the invoice.) 2 months pass and I have the same problem. I take it back. This time fixing or replacing it is not an option because they don't make that watch anymore. Hmmm. I wonder why. :-/ So now they only offer me credit on another model. Well, I don't want another model. I wanted a watch that could tell me the tide. But I take the Genie. Kinda cool gimmic watch that acts like the Magic 8 Ball. Ask a question, push a button it tells you an answer. It also tells the time, so it was useful for that. It had an alarm and told me the date too. GUESS WHAT?! 4 months later the digital display freaks out. I am not doing anything unusual with these watches. I take them off when I shower, and put them in my jewelry box at night. I don't practice MMA while I am wearing them. So now I decide I just want my money back. I go back with this 3rd defective watch and still i can't get a refund. Only credit towards another watch. I steam about this awhile. I look at the watches available. Nothing strikes my fancy in the price range of my credit. I see one watch I think is pretty cool, it looks like it has a band made out of sea glass, but it costs more than the credit i have. I ask which watch is your most RELIABLE watch. They say get an analog watch, the simplest kind. They are very reliable. So the one I think is pretty is an analog watch. I ask if they will give me that watch. They actually had the nerve to ask me to pay $25 for the upgrade!!! Hell no! After all this, you want me to pay more for a watch I don't even really want?! They ended up letting me have it. So now I have this $150 "bracelet" that tells time the old fashioned way with a long arm and a short arm. There are no numbers on it, so I have to be careful not to put it on upside down if I really want to use it to tell time. I doesn't even have the date. I only wear it when it matches my outfit, the rest of the time it is in my jewelry box, so maybe that is why it has lasted for 8 months. I will say that I always get compliments on how nice it looks. I really do just consider it a bracelet now. I really wanted to like Nixon watches and support a local company, but I will never buy another Nixon watch again. I agree with another reviewer that said a $30 watch from the drug store will last longer than a Nixon watch. read more

I'm giving this 1 star, and it's not just for my recent experience, but my experience as a whole. My first watch from them was a Super Rover SS from about 10 years ago. A year into owning it, the second hand completely stopped working and the stopwatch needle never reset back to zero. 2nd watch from them was a Super Hero TI PU II that I bought from them 2 years ago. It combined analog and digital, which after less than a year, the digital portion stopped working completely. Nixon was nice enough to give me a $300 credit, even though I paid $150. So that said, the 3rd watch was a Nixon Spur, which I ordered in December. Just 3 months in, a pin came loose and the whole watch fell off my wrist. Watches are supposed to last and none of these do. I wish I can give a separate review for their customer service and attentiveness because they shine in those categories, but what good is it if their products stop working within months? read more

First of all. I absolutely love my Nixon Magnacon SS, it is a stunning piece and it gets compliments everywhere I go. One day, it did lose a link. Things happen. I never bothered to set up a warranty so I was worried. I called Nixon, was never put on hold, and got to talk to a rep immediately. I told him my problem and he sent me new links for free. I loved Nixon for years, my favorite watch from forever was a Nixon Rockette. When it came time to buy a new watch this month, I figured I'd stick with them since they were good and took care of my broken watch band some 5 years after I purchased the watch. (I paid for the replacement, I was just stoked they still had it!) Unfortunately, I am super bummed on my new Nixon White Time Teller P watch. I purchased it and within 2 days it became completely discolored as the silicone and polyurethane band absorbed color from any long sleeved shirt I wore . I called in to ask for cleaning advice to avoid damaging it but there was no advice the rep could give me. I asked about a replacement for a different color or a different watch, as it was a $60 watch that literally stayed white for a day. I was told I could purchase replacement parts, but it would cost me $45. So basically, I could get 25% off a new watch of the same type. Not stoked on Nixon anymore, for sure. read more

The reasons I say this is because I have owned several nixon watches over the years, thinking it was a solid brand. To my experience, every watch I have owned has major problems. We love the style and colors of Nixon watches....but why do they use such cheap plastic? My husband is on number 5 and this is the last. He kept thinking it must be him but I think it is just poor materials. We have many items in out house and personal accessories that are made of unbreakable or hard to break plastic. Great company with stellar support. I got my first Nixon watch almost a year ago (the Ultratide) and had some questions about it and when I called in they were answered quickly. Been wearing the watch pretty much everyday since including while surfing and free diving and it's still in great condition and I haven't had to get the battery replaced yet. Early this week I ordered the Sentry Chrono Leather and it promptly arrived at my office in 3 days. The watch looks amazing and works great. I have a Tangent watch that needed a band replacement. I contacted Nixon and they told me they don't sell bands but they would "love to have a look at it" if I shipped it for repairs. The tangent watch has an irregular lug-band width and it also has a certain type of screw, rather than a typical spring bar, which makes third party replacements impossible. I've looked everywhere. Nixon wouldn't tell me if they had any parts, they just wanted me to ship it to them at my expense, then I had to wait weeks for them to tell me if they even had the parts and then purchase the repair for who knows how much and pay for return shipping. After buying four expensive watches from Nixon, never again. Really surprised with their customer service, or lack of it. read more

This is the first negative review I have written so take that for what its worth. I recently received a Nixon Spur watch as a gift in 2014 after seeing a friend wearing the same one that he received a couple of years before. The quality is not nearly as solid and customer service is HORRIFIC. I tried to order black replacement links and was sent metallic silver the first time(took two weeks to arrive). After contacting them and relaying that I needed BLACK links, two weeks later, I received gunmetal grey links. I am still in contact with them trying to get black links. Easily the best customer service experience ever. I called after my Mission took on water. Without thinking the gentleman on the phone emailed me a shipping label. So I sent the watch back to them and in about two weeks I had my watch back with a few extras in the box including a carry bag, a cleaning cloth, a sticker and some Bazooka gum! Erin from customer service was rad. In fact, Most of the Nixon reps i dealt with over the past few weeks were great. I had my Nixon Duke (all time favorite watch - 23rd self birthday gift) watch for 14 years... Until the loop broke. So bummed. Sent it in for repairs with my 51-30 tide blue sunray, (which is also a sick watch) which needed a battery replacement. Unfortunately they don't make parts for the Duke anymore, so i got a credit for a new watch (Thanks Nixon - way to keep your consumers happy). I picked one from their website and set up my order (last week) and paid the difference and battery fees etc and today i got a message that it was out of stock. Bummed again! I called and spoke to a rep and he didn't seem all that enthusiastic about helping me... Again onto the website.... I owned a Nixon Corporal watch and loved it. I admit I am pretty hard on my watches. The seal broke on the watch and moister was getting in the face. I dropped by the Encinitas Office and they sent it in for a repair quote with no receipt and no questions asked. Within 2 days they sent an email that they no longer carry this same watch and were unable to repair. Nixon provided me with a $150.00 credit for a new watch of my choice. I bought the same corporal watch in a different color shipped to my door in 3 days for $200.00 (only $50.00 after the credit). Thanks Nixon for going above and beyond. I don't understand why there's 3 Stars. I think it's more from before the custom watch shop was open here. I had the best experience here. I drove down from Orange County to get a custom watch for myself and for my best man for my wedding. Chase helped me out. Chase was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and made the experience fun. He let me browse and when I would tell him or show him options I was thinking, he gave suggestions. Between what I liked and what he suggested I was able to get two really awesome custom watches. Best part is the engraving on the back of the watch. Honestly the prices are very fair for what you get. It's not much more than buying a Nixon watch from a retailer. But here you get to customize it to however you want and get an engraving. I highly recommend coming here. Ask for chase he was awesome. read more

Best customer service ever!!! I walked into the Encinitas store with my husband and 3 boys. We were there to get my teen a watch with the tide report on it. The two girls were not only adorable but super helpful. They went above and beyond letting my son try On as many watches as he wanted till he found the right one. Than she took more time to set the watch with the time and his fav surfing spot. After she was done she lmk I could bring my other Nixon watches in to replace the batteries at no charge! So I came back, dropped my watches off and they handled both of them right away. I got a call within 2 days that one needed to be sent to repair service because the screws were stripped. They sent it away, emailed and called in under 5 days to lmk the watch was not fixable but was still under warranty so they would replace it. Every single person I have encountered at Nixon has been nothing but super great! Helpful, knowledgeable, and patient. I will absolutely keep buying watches for my family here! I have had nothing but problems with my watch. Bought @ Local Motion on Maui. Watch died 1 week after I bought it, had to send it in to Nixon. then got it back and it leaked water, then got it back(Now over a month since first time sent in) got a new different watch and now 2 years later it dies again. beeping won't stop....My daughter has 2 Nixon watches one with broken band after just 5 months, and another that needs a new battery. I was told the battery life is 12 to 14 months. for a watch that cost over 100 dollars that is just crap! read more

I purchased 2 watches November 9th and spent close to $500 to have them engraved as well. I had them personally engraved for my best men reveal set for November 14th. I received my watches November 12th with the wrong engraving. I call the next day and... Lo and behold they do not work Friday through Sunday as a company. I set this whole event up to present these engraved watches for my best men and they were engraved wrong. My wedding plans were messed up by this company. I follow up by calling the Monday after this foul up. Nixon's customer service displayed no empathy, no sympathy or any sincerity. They reply with a generic 'sorry' and to send the watches back. The date is December 2nd and I still do not have these watches. I've called 3 times and have to ask for communication with this company. My tracking number shows no date of arrival. They don't offer any discounts, store credit or expedited work. They just say 'it'll come when it comes'. I highly recommend not ordering from this company based off of customer service and lack of care for a person who truly wanted to like their brand. 0/10. read more

I first visited the corporate office to plead my case regarding a watch I haven't been able to wear for a long time because the band broke and I'm unable to replace the band due to thread lock on the pin. They offered to send in for service and that next door would be able to replace my battery in my 51-30. Taylor's sunny disposition and willingness to help completely changed my visit. It has been a terrible experience - from opening the package to the customer service. Upon opening the watch, the protective film on the watch face was crookedly placed and didn't protect half of the watch. It also included a price tag that said $125 even though I paid $150. Just to verify that I received the right watch, I called customer service. The Nixon representative that I spoke with could not have been more rude. He was belittling, condescending, and didn't care about my issue at all. He said the watch probably sat in the warehouse for a year and that's why it was mis-priced. If the price has been increased, shouldn't the company at least take the extra $25 profit they are making off of my purchase to retag the watch before shipping it? I am a Nixon lover. They stands behind their product and being a customer for the last 10+ years I have never had a problem with a watch. I just recently bought The Descender (love it) however the looper broke. I came in to ask about getting it repaired and Marina at the front took complete care of me. Had me in and out the door in less than 5 minutes with an extra looper just in case the issue happened again. Nixon is all professionals and if there is one thing that keeps me behind a product, besides the quality, it's the customer service! A++ AND the new shop they have set up down the way is beautiful. I bought the Nixon 48-20 Chrono Rose/Burn Leather watch and wore it twice within a week before the strap broke free from the casing. Naturally I went online to check repair info and called their service line only to be told that the band replacements are not covered by warranty and would not be considered defective despite only being worn twice and having the receipt. So after several more phone calls with the same answer I went to the repair site and it says that you will be charged $65 if the repair tech decides that the repair is not covered by warranty. Band replacements that are the result of user wear are not covered by warranty rightfully but band replacements that are the result of manufacturing error should be. If you wear a watch twice and it breaks it could not be wear and tear unless you literally were smashing it up on rocks or something. And to not even have the chance to talk with the repair techs that decide whether to charge your account without your authorization is a joke. They should at least call you with their decision so you can decide whether to pay their overcharged repair fees or just take it to your local watch repair. I sold at least 75 Nixon watches for them when I was working for Zumiez now I feel bad for all those people I said to send their watch into Nixon in case anything happens. The only reason you should send them in is if you need battery replacements because they will re seal it so it waterproof unlike your local watch repair. The products may look nice but in terms of quality they are like the Ford of watch companies. Half a Star just because I believe they could dramatically step up their customer service with near minimal effort. read more

Nixon - $400 Watchband broke one week after purchase and Nixon won't cover obvious defect for free. - Watches Near Me - Carlsbad, California

I had to take my watch in to Nixon to be replaced because the band color faded after 7 months. The lady at the front desk is very nice and quickly helps me. She took the watch and gave me an order number and said that I should be getting the watch back in about 21 days. She never told me I'm going to have to pay to get it fixed or anything like that. I thought well this is great. Even though I spent $175 on this watch and it messed up right away their customer service is good. Well that's what I thought. It all went downhill from there... 17 days later I get an email saying that the watch is fixed but they're not gonna send it to me until I give them my credit card so that I can pay $61 fee. What!?! I called customer service and spoke to someone on the phone for about 20 minutes. He was not nice from the get-go saying that they can't help it if people don't treat their watches correctly and have too much excessive wear and tear and that messes up their bands. I'm not a construction worker. I'm not doing manual labor or any sports with it on. What is he talking about? He finally agreed to waive the fee "for one time only" ha like I'm ever going to buy a Nixon watch again. 16 days later I realize I still have not gotten my watch in the mail I wonder where it is? I call Nixon again and the customer service guy tells me that they're still waiting for me to give payment and that there are no notes in their system that show that I spoke to someone over two weeks ago and they agreed to mail me the watch. Are you kidding? You guys have now had my watch for over six weeks and I still haven't gotten it back? This whole process has been such a hassle! A total of seven weeks to get my watch back. When I got my watch back yes the band was fixed but now the battery had died in the process! They put all the links on it so I'm going to have to go to a watch repair shop and pay to get them to remove the links to make it smaller. Man I really can't win with Nixon! read more
