this company is lazy and has horrible customer service all around. you would think being a local would be a plus, negative. i have had the chronicle watch for 3 years now, and just dropped it off at the barn in encinitas for the 4th time. this time for a band replacement. you think they would just have replacements for sale, nope. it has to be brought over to warehouse in carlsbad, sit there for weeks and then SHIPPED to you. i offered to just bring it over there myself and grab a band, pay $45 for it mind you, and be good...negative. they have to ship is 2.6 miles to my house. thanks for hooking up your locals nixon. onto diesel i go! read more

terrible quality. bought lo down model, which malfunctioned after 1.5 weeks. luckily guy at surf ride was able to just take it back and recommended vestal brig, which has been perfect for the last 1.5 years. funny how the salesman at surf ride even "secretly" told me to stay away from the nixon tide watches (great advice btw). recently just purchased "new and improved" super tide model. build up of condensation within case in less than 2 weeks. i then sent it back to repairs. it has been more than 2 weeks since Nixon has notified me that they received product, and it is still in line to be repaired? what a joke of customer service. as mentioned by several other reviewers, i have been a long time fan of nixon, but unfortunately I will never buy another Nixon watch again (same as a bunch of my friends). bottom line: Nixon watches are over priced, poor quality watches. read more

Really like the design and materials, nice watch for the money, however case is not sealed correctly, moisture and dust inside, under warranty but Nixon requires a CC authorization to do any repairs... kind of defeats the purpose of a warranty if they require CC info!! Got it next day(cause it was only coming barely 10min down the road) and saw what they charged for shipping it..$7 F#*k!ng dollars for about 4 miles. What idiots. They are saying because of the inconvenience that they are going to refund my shipping to me..Guess we'll wait and see.....But I still should never had been charged originally. This watch is a cheapo, sold at very expensive prices. I received this as a gift and it fell apart in the first few weeks of ownership.. I sent it back and customer service did not acknowledge that they had it for three weeks.. I have been without the watch for over a month and I cannot find the online service order on the company web page. There is nothing good about my experience with Nixon and it's flimsy watches.. If you like Nixon watches' design, and ONLY care for the design, then ignore this review. But if you also want a watch that you can actually surf with, that can withstand a few wipe outs like any good surfers' watch should, then DO NOT buy these expensive watches. Despite the positioning of these watches: - they are not water proof under surfing conditions (any surfing condition) - they are expensive, and the bracelet brakes easily - then the repair (if you manage to salvage your watch from sinking) is very hard, with poor custom service, as I experienced from MA, and from France The watch that finally did it for me, which I can carry in the water , and in any rough conditions: Casio G Shock. It got hammered in heavy wipe outs, got hit against a heavy longboard, sustained shocks when rock climbing. and works like a charm, not a scratch. Well done Casio. read more

Two weeks ago I purchased a Nixon 51-30 watch at Costco. the watch band had a minor defect and rather than returning the entire watch to Costco I contacted Nixon under their warranty provision. I was shocked to find they would not honor their warranty! A brand new watch only 2 weeks out of the box. I am still perplexed by what they gain from this approach. Luckily Costco is a stand up retailer who willingly took the watch back and stated they would honor Nixon's warranty but also their own. Now that is customer service and I will continue to be a loyal customer. Nixon has lost that opportunity and will likely pay Costco for the return and created a unsatisfied customer all in one smooth move. So please be aware that another review has been posted on Nixon warranty practices I remain perplexed why they would think that this practice is good for their business model. read more

Nixon watches are crap, expensive crap that is marketed in a fraudulent manner. I bought a lowdown, wore it surfing stopped working within weeks. Then I upgraded, perhaps stupidly to the supertide as I really needed a tide watch for my paddle board business and for surfing in my free time. The supertide lasted a few months even though I never wore it while surfing or even got it wet. I contacted Nixon they made me pay for the shipping to their service center and said they might fix it if it wasnt my fault. Ultimately they sent me a new one. 2 months later the battery went out, had it replaced, less than a month later it just died and I wasn't remotely surprised. So they are marketing watches to surfers that are so poorly constructed that even if you dont use them for their intended purpose, they still breakdown. Nixon has an edge due to limited competition in the market. I am not aware of any surf/tide watch out there that you can surf with. Its just about looking like a surfer and nothing more. If you want something for the water with lots of well designed features get a triathalon watch, much cheaper, lasts forever and actually does what it is supposed to do. I will never purchase any Nixon product again. I didn't even want to replace my last supertide which was under warranty. I threw it in the trash where it belongs. read more

The watch was a Christmas gift but when opened it was dead (not in sleep mode as the manual suggests). I went to return at SurfRide and they suggested that I drop by the Nixon office since they did not have another in stock so I did and they replaced the battery. This would have fine however within a week the watch died. At this point it is clear the watch is defective so I again head down to the Nixon office and at this point they take the watch in and send if off to be serviced. I receive notification that it would be repaired and shipped out in a couple weeks. So now instead of a new watch I am getting a repaired watch??? A week or so passes and the watch arrives, the service order notes that they replaced the battery! We already knew that was not the problem. Trying to stay optimistic I told them I would see how it goes, but as predicted within the week the watch died. Now back down to the Nixon office to drop off again. This time they note once we drop off they will provide us a new replacement watch from the Carlsbad factory. So we drop off and a day passes we receive an email indicating they no longer have the color option we purchased. Really frustrated now but the give us the option to select another from the website, so I call in and attempt to get the same model but in black (this is listed oan the website) but the service rep informs me that they no longer have that one either. I ask to speak to a manager because my preference at this point is to just get my money back but the rep denies my request. Reluctantly I opted for another color choice. So now I have a $200 watch that I really don't want. read more

Good Gracious. Where to start? I've purchased a lot of Nixon watches. Too many, now that I count them up. Fortunately I take good care of my stuff, so I never needed warranty services. I had the rubber rerun and the band fell apart within 10 months. Literally, it just started to fall apart from a defect in the molding process. My first call to the service center I got a low-level call taker who just didn't give a flying anything about why I was calling. He offered absolutely no condolences, and when I asked if I could send it in for inspection he said "well, if that's what you want to do..." and trailed off. Seriously, Nixon. Hire people that aren't typical southern Californian jack wagons. I went through the website to obtain a service code. Instead of issuing the code and having a look at their faulty product (like a reputable company), they PRE-AUTHORIZED my credit card 27.00 (20 for the repair, 7 for return shipping) before they even looked at it. Nixon, that is shameful. YOU should trust customers. YOU pay for return shipping on a faulty product. An honest company will still make money on repeat business even when they eat the cost of the few folks that work the system. YOU should write in the cost of warranty services to the initial cost of the watch (which I can't believe that is isn't already, considering how expensive they are). I sent in the watch on April 8 and they received it on April 10 (certified mail). I didn't even get an email acknowledging the transaction for 5 full days (April 15). It was another 10 days (April 25) before I got an email saying that they no longer make that product. Seriously, Nixon? 20 days? Your Service Rep couldn't have told me that on the phone during my first call? Further instructions were unclear, and I had to call the service department again. ANOTHER incompetent, apathetic SoCal moron that called me dude too many times. Ultimately I figured out (with little help from him) that Nixon would give me 100 toward the purchase of a new watch. On the website I found a replacement that I liked and called back. Same caliber of employee, but with a huskier and less caring voice. The new watch was more than the 100 credit I had, so I paid the difference. Then I realized that I was paying the difference PLUS a 20.00 band replacement fee. So I paid for a new watch that already came with a band and then another band (which I'll hazard to guess that they won't include with my new watch). Once I have the new one in hand I will call and contest this. Nixon, you have lost a customer. I've spent over 1,000 on your watches over the years, and I seem to care about the product more than your service department, more than whoever writes your policies, and for darn sure more more than whoever hires your employees. I believe that if I pay a premium for a style or a brand, then that brand should stand behind the product EVERY time, from the low-level employees to the corporate offices. I'm ashamed about every time I've told anyone about your products. read more

I have, literally, 12 Nixon watches which I have collected over the years. Every time I need service, even if just a new battery, I take the watch directly to the Nixon Customer Shop on Highway 101 in Encinitas, California. The Shop is open 10-6, even on Saturday and Sunday. Weekends are managed by the most amazing, kind, attentive, caring Nixon employee, Diana Beltran. I recently dropped two watches (one was my daughter's) needing new batteries. Diana was amazing. She called me when they were ready and again a week later when I had not responded. Fantastic customer service! I mailed my sons watch in last year and they replaced the battery in a waterproof watch, which can be tricky. When I mailed it in 6 months later, they contacted me and said there was a problem with the watch, and that they would offer $300 credit to pick a new one! No hassle, no long wait times on the phone, and the replacement was their suggestion! No hassle! It was so easy, I will defiantly buy this watch again, the service is amazing! read more

I don't write reviews often but one associate in particular, Brett, was so awesome that I had to do something to show some recognition. I ordered a matte black Chronicle SS for my fiancé for a Christmas gift back in December. He was very happy with it however after a few weeks of wearing it, condensation started to build under the face. I sent the watch in for a repair which Nixon took care of completely except for the shipping. The repair was fairly quick. Somehow during this process, my address was wasn't recorded properly so UPS was unable to deliver it back to me. I called Nixon and spoke to Brett; when I explained the situation to him and my dissatisfaction with the amount of time it would take to get the watch back his immediate response was, "Let's get a new one out to you." What an awesome response! After he did some research he found out that the watch was out of stock until July so he offered to me the option to choose another watch for the same value of the original one I purchased. My fiancée decided that he didn't like any of the others as much as his own and wanted to wait for it to make its way back to us. Brett assured me that he would check on the watch everyday and personally keep me notified of any updates. Although a little disappointed that nothing could be done immediately, I was satisfied because I felt as though Brett cared for my situation personally. A few hours later I received another phone call from Brett. He had done some more searching and told me he could have a brand new watch built specifically for my fiancée that would be identical to the original. Furthermore, he said this process would only take a couple of days tops and that the watched would be shipped out express ASAP! This is how all retailers should conduct business! The customer service here is the worst in the world. I like some of their watches and my Wife and I have one each. Mine died 6 months after buying it. It came from a distributor but not and authorized seller so Nixon forced me to buy a new movement stating that the distributor may have opened the watch and toyed with it. You can open a watch and tell if it has ever been opened and this one was not. There just greedy and have no idea what customer service is. They should have just fixed it and made me a fan but now I'm just mad. Instead of having a customer for life and free advertising they have a hater. The best advertising in the world is great customer service and Nixon needs to learn that. What a lousy company. read more

I was instantly greeted by the front desk person and they ended up taking care of my watch for free since it was new! It only took about 10 days to get it back and they shipped it right to my house. I got a Nixon Mission about 2 months ago and was really happy with it. Then one day water got into the watch somehow (the mic was closed). So I called Nixon, explained to them what happen. They sent me a free shipping label to send it back to their Technicians to find out what happened and I would have bet money that I was going to get the run around and the whole its your fault somehow speech. After about 4 days after they received it I got a email saying it was on its way back already. I never got one call with any sort of them trying to say it was my fault. I was really surprised so I called them to make sure and they said they fixed it all replaced a few parts and it was on its way back with no money out of my pocket. I made a website Christmas gift purchase over the holidays. Briefly, the watch was sent USPS, the mail bag was broken into by a Christmas thief looking for small gifts and money sent via the postal service. The box showed up empty with the watch missing. I called Nixon Customer Service and spoke to Kendall to see if the package had been insured. Kendall took the time to deal with the post office over the holidays, which I'm sure was not easy, and discovered they had a theft incident on record. The next day he left me a voicemail apologizing for the incident and assuring me my credit card would be credited within 48 hours. I was impressed with his immediate follow through and stellar customer service! Great company to deal with. read more

Bought a watch for my wife on the website prior to Christmas. A Christmas thief got into our mail, stole the watch out of the shipping box and rifled through our cards looking for cash. I called Nixon customer service to see if the watch was insured etc. Kendall took the call and told me he would look into it. The next day he left me a voicemail stating he spoke to the Post Office and they had an incident report for my area. As a result he didn't need anything from me and would credit my account within 24 hours. What shocked me was he called the post office at Christmas time, that had to be painful, and followed through. I've been a lifelong Nixon watch customer. I've used their watch repair service and it worked out great until I sent my Chronicle in because it stopped working and was rattling inside. I was billed 148 for the repair. I was upset so I just asked to have the watch sent back to me without repair. One of Nixon's reps reached out to me the same week and wanted to make good of the situation. He emailed me a new service order and took care of the repair charges. In my opinion he went way beyond what normal customer service would do in this situation. I bought a watch from the Nixon website for Christmas, and overall I have had an okay experience. When the watch arrived I examined it and there was a smudge on the inside of the face that could not be cleaned off. Disappointed, I called Nixon customer service and learned they had a shop in Encinitas. Unfortunately, this was right before Christmas so they were closed. Because of this, I didn't get to give the watch to my husband on Christmas Day. But after Christmas we drove down to the Encinitas shop to see if we could exchange the watch. They said they couldn't do exchanges, but that they would be able to return the watch to the warehouse themselves and I would get a full refund. We ended up doing that and just buying the same watch from the actual store and waiting for the refund. It was very smooth and easy. All in all, I learned that if you are going to purchase a watch from Nixon, I would recommend going down to the shop in Encinitas instead of ordering online. The staff there was incredibly helpful and we were able to examine the watch before purchase. read more
