I direct a surfing camp in La Jolla and have always needed waterproof watches. I have three Nixon watches as I like to support local businesses and they are from Encinitas. I have a love/hate relationship with this company. I think that the watches look nice but the customer service department is terrible and always has been. I agree with the review left by John H. and another by K.G. and yet another by Laura F. In my case, I sent three watches to Nixon for batteries. All three came back after an extended period of time. I called to find out when to expect them back and was told that they had recently had an engraving promotion and that the repair department was backlogged. When I finally did get the three watches back, I put one on and took a shower, I noticed that the watch steamed up. I sent it back to Nixon as I assumed that they did not tightly reseal the watch. They said that I must have cracked the crystal and refused to reseal the watch. What? I had never had an issue until they returned the watch to me after installing a battery. They wanted $48.00 to "repair" the crystal. I asked them to just send the watch back to me. One time I thought I needed a new band and send them the watch to get the band put on but it turns out that it only needed a pin and they charged me for a band. I used to have an old cheap but reliable "Shark" watch from Freestyle. I could send this watch all the way to New York and have a new battery installed and back to me in less than 13 days. with Nixon, don't hold your breath. Blown away by Nixon's phenomenal customer service! I brought in my favorite watch, the Corporal, which I've worn almost daily for about five years because some moisture had gotten in the case after taking it to a shady repair shop recently. I dropped it off on a Monday and by Friday the watch was sitting in my mailbox completely like new! Not only did they REPLACE the case entirely, they checked/adjusted the timing and replaced the battery, as well. All of this, including the shipping, 100% free of charge. I'm already a huge fan of the brand but I didn't expect this level of exceptional customer experience. If you have any issues at all with your Nixon watch bring it by the store and they'll get you sorted. Also, it's the only location where you can build your own custom watch. Had my watch for two and a half weeks when I call to ask her about it they told me to call back in a week I called back in a week and then they said the office was closed for a week, I told them to send the watch back to me and they told me they couldn't do that because company was closed just terrible they have no knowledge of customer service at all. I had 2 watch batteries replaced in the custom shop. The women was very friendly and was able to swap the batteries out in 20 minutes. Cost was $15 each. Nixon HQ is a cool barn style building. Horrible customer service and quality is going downhill. I've had several Nixon watches now. First a Banks, then a 51-30, then a 51-30 Chrono and then finally a Chronicle. The Chronicle says that it has a solid stainless steel case on their website. Mine started peeling and flaking even though it was a silver watch. Below the paint is some kind of dark grey/black metal which is definitely not stainless steel. The peeling occurred over the first week or two of ownership. After that I decided that it was a POS and threw it in a drawer. We're moving now and so I just found it again. It was about 2 years after i bought it and they have a 2 year warranty so I figured I'd just try to see what would happen if I call for service. I called and talked to a guy who said it would probably just get replaced with the same watch or a different model for free. I wanted to make sure this was correct before sending it back because shipping in Canada is pricey so it would cost me $20-25 to send it back. Nixon customer service now says that they will charge me $98 to replace the watch. Also, they are only offering $275 towards a new watch even though the watch cost me $350 and it's still $350 on their website. So now it would cost me $25 + $98 + $75 to get the watch fixed. So basically $198 for something that they said they would fix on the phone previously. I'm super disappointed now and don't think I'll ever buy a Nixon product again. read more

I bought the Mission watch on sale for $350 back in 2018, and within a year I needed to have part of the band replaced. Shortly after that, the watch began charging intermittently, and by the 2-year mark, wouldn't charge at all. I contacted Nixon to inquire about repairs and was quoted $215. Sent my Nixon watch in for repair. Watch was still under warranty, however following the process I had to put up $80 towards the repair. Having a follow up phone call, I was very surprised to receive great news towards the repair - all covered under warranty. Lots of email updates during the process. Nixon rocks, plain and simple. The Product: Purchased a Mission smart watch and it is amazing. The look is absolutely stunning. Everyone I've encountered has asked about it. I'm pretty sure there will be some T-mobile employees making orders today after my store visit. The software has functioned perfectly; can't go wrong with Android wear. I'm an average sized guy but have very large wrists and hands and the watch is a great fit for me. Makes my 42mm watches look small but the band design makes the watch very wearable and comfortable though I am at the last notch. "The Mission" watch face seems to have the best battery life. Starting at 4am... 17 hours later, using it for voice texts all day, ambient display on, playing music via Bluetooth for an hour (yes, from the watch, no phone!) and tinkering with features, there is still 33% battery remaining. The people: Nixon is winning on this front too. Extremely friendly and responsive. I'm sure Nixon was getting hammered after the launch of the Mission but they still managed to respond promptly via email. Erin is quick to respond and appears to be will informed. Overall: Buying again, maybe another custom Mission. Please make a killer smartwatch in a form factor for ladies. My wife loves the Mission but on her tiny wrists, it looks comical. read more

I have purchased several Nixon watches over the years and I am disappointed to say that I just purchased my last. Their customer service is probably the worst, for a large corporation, that I have ever dealt with. I purchased a Star Wars Solo watch less than a year ago and the band broke. Called to discuss whether it was under warranty and they said it might be depending on the break and if not it's be $55 to replace the band and to send it in. So I paid $7 to ship it only to have them tell me that they don't have replacement parts for any of the Star Wars series watches and my only option is to get a different watch and they said they would be "responsibly recycling" the old one. (Not sure why they couldn't have told me this before I shipped it). When I asked if I could have it back because it had sentimental value, they said no. Additionally, I asked if they could replace the band with a totally different band that fits. Apparently they couldn't do it because of their contract with Disney. I asked if they could sell me a band that fits on a separate transaction and they said they don't sell bands and can't make an exception. Also, after disappointing email exchanges I decided to call to talk to someone and surprise, the same person I've been emailing is who answers the phone. Her name is Erin and while she sounded like a nice person and I felt bad that I was being short with her, I was very irritated that she couldn't offer any solutions beyond getting a different watch and them throwing away my old one. She claimed there's no one above her that is available to talk to me and no one I can leave a voicemail for or send an email to... Which if actually true, sounds pretty unbelievable. I just think it's so WILD how they're handling this and will never purchase another Nixon product. read more

I took it it to the shop and after 6 weeks they reply and say they fixed the battery and I owe like $35. No. The battery is not the issue. The time keeps moving it works to tell time fine. It's the button that doesn't let me adjust the time. I came on here and see others have the same issues. I won't be buying a Nixon watch ever again. Epic fail on Nixon watches. Purchased a 2006 Key watch, used it a lot while surfing. The band finally gave out from all the salt water. Drove down from Los Angeles to Encinitas to surf and check out their HQ and drop it off for repair. They do ask you for immediate payment of $25 plus $10 for shipping and will charge you more if additional work is needed. After 2 weeks, I received an email stating that since the watch is discontinued the band could not be replaced. Therefore, Nixon would offer to credit me $130 for a new watch and charge me an additional $25 as a replacement fee. Spoke with a rep and spoke of my disappointment about replacing a simple wrist band and how I didn't want to spend more money on a new watch. He wasn't much help or sympathetic of my budget. Overall, their product has declined and Nixon watches are trendy and fashionable but not built to last long like other quality watches. Maybe if I'd receive better customer service, I'd have a different outlook...buyers beware of Nixon. read more

Expensive piece of crap. For my 14th Birthday my Mom got me The Don with a white face. It was one of the best gifts I had received because I knew it was an expensive investment for a younger boy. 12 years later I still have the watch although it has been expired for a while. Because I loved this watch so much I developed an affinity for all Nixon watches. Over the last 8 years I have owed 5 Nixon watches and each of them were out of commission in a year or less. The most recent and the last straw was The Don II that my girlfriend bought me last year for Christmas, the watch's band broke while I was clapping at a football game. It sucks that such a great company has gone to crap. And I agree with other reviewers that their customer support blows. I lived down the street from the Nixon Barn in Encinitas and the front desk girl offered no help when I brought my watch in, she said "I've never heard of that happening". I value my Nixon watch and until now have been completely satisfied with the style and performance. Based on the amount of money that I paid for my timepiece, I'd expect quality service when my watch breaks from basic usage (moisture in a water resistant watch). When I called however they were very stringent on the two year warranty even though the watch broke not from misusage. They require a $25 shipping and handling fee right off the bat even before repair. Then they determine whether the warranty is valid, if not they repair it anyway before letting you know the charges and automatically charge your credit card. I say, save your breath with customer service and just take it to your local repair shop for probably a less expensive and more customer-oriented experience. What a shame. read more

Don't waste your time or money - you probably won't get your watches back! On July 16, my boyfriend brought his two Nixon watches to the Encinitas shop to have the batteries replaced and one of the watch bands repaired. They give him an invoice for $315 and told him he'd be contacted in 10 days when his watches were received by the repair center. No one contacted us. Instead, we get an email stating our payment method would not go through; however we never gave anyone a payment method. We called to inquire, and they said we owed $82.60 for the batteries and band repair. We gave a credit card number and were told the watches would be shipped out immediately. They weren't! In fact, we didn't hear anything again until August 10 (almost a month after we turned the watches in), when we received an email saying the watches had been shipped via USPS Priority Parcel. Another week goes by and NO WATCHES! On August 17, taking matters into his own hands, my boyfriend called his friend who owns a store that sells Nixon watches. The store owner reached out to his friend/contact at Nixon to see what was going on with these two outstanding watches. Then, we receive a screenshot from the store owner with the shipping details. Turns out the package WAS NEVER SHIPPED with USPS on August 10 - it shipped on August 17 with UPS! We finally receive the watches, more than a month after they were turned in, AND THEY DON'T FIT!!! Somehow, while changing the batteries and repairing the one watch band, they decided to remove links from both (and not include them in our package). So after waiting a month and paying over $80 for the repair, we now have two watches worth over $700 they he can't wear. Not to mention, we'll have to take them somewhere else (somewhere reputable) to get them fixed correctly so he can wear them again. To add icing to the cake, the original invoice states: "Your account will only be charge if the repair is not covered under Nixon's warranty policy (www.nixon.com/service/warranty)." When I went to the website to see what was under warranty, THE SITE DOESN'T EXIST!!! Nixon is officially overpriced and shady - not a company we'll EVER do business with again! read more
