When we were still allowed outside before quarantine, we headed to 2nd street to check places out. We ended in here. There was no cover charge that evening as I don't know if they normally have one. It was quite empty for a friday night around midnight. The bar looks great, but the other half of the place seems "unfinished". The bar prices seem fair and the bartenders are on it. It looks nice on the outside, so was just expecting it to look a little nicer on the inside. I hope that they are busier in the summer when it's warmer and also after covid has settled down more. If you can find street parking, it's there. But there is also a parking garage one block away as well.

$2 drinks Friday and Saturday for happy Hour.

I'm not sure about the last review. They still have the downtown Hardware Bar. This is at a totally different location. This bar appears very nice inside and has two pool tables. I did not think the drinks were priced bad at all. A Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat and a summer shandy was $7. It's the same price as out of the city. I was expecting more expensive. My waitress new nothing about the beers they offered. I asked if i could try a sample of one before I bought it, but i was not allowed. So i stuck with my regular. They have out door seating.

Good environment but the bartenders serve you drinks with barely any alcohol in them. Terrible customer relations

XL Live has quickly become one of my favorite venues in central PA for rock and metal shows. I've…read morebeen there a bunch of times now, most recently for Highly Suspect and Dead Poet Society, and every time I leave thinking the same thing: this place just gets it. First of all, the ticket prices are INSANELY reasonable. We paid around $38 for a sold out Highly Suspect show, which feels almost fake in 2026 concert economy. You're seeing nationally touring bands from just a few feet away without needing to sell a kidney for nosebleed seats. The vibe is low key, relaxed, and focused on the music. No weird pretentious atmosphere. No bad sightlines. Pretty much everywhere you stand gives you a solid view of the stage, and the acoustics are genuinely good. It feels intimate. There are multiple bars, a small food menu, pool tables, seating areas, recliners, and one of my favorite parts the openair patio area outside. You can sit outside by the fireplaces, still hear the music, and watch the performance on TVs if you need a breather from the crowd. Such a smart setup. The venue itself feels clean and well maintained, and there's plenty of parking, which is another thing that shouldn't feel rare at a concert venue but somehow does. My only complaint from this last show was entry. Doors were listed at 7 and the line was wrapped around the building and through the parking lot by the time we got there around 7:15. It took until almost 8 PM to actually get inside, so security/check-in definitely moved slower than expected for a sold out show. That said? I'll absolutely keep going back. Cheap tickets, great sound, close to the stage, easy parking, and a true rock venue atmosphere without all the nonsense. XL Live is one of those places that reminds you concerts are supposed to feel FUN.

The cocktails alone are worth the visit. The bartenders really know their craft, and the alcohol selection, including local beers, is solid. My only real issue is brunch. Every time I've visited after 12 p.m. (brunch is served until 2 p.m.), there's been a problem--either they're no longer taking food orders, the kitchen is backed up with a 45-minute wait, or they've simply run out of food. It comes off unprofessional and could definitely be handled better. I've noticed this becoming a growing trend during brunch service in general, and while some people suggest arriving as early as 10 a.m. for the best experience, consistency matters. If you're offering brunch, you should be properly staffed and prepared to serve guests throughout the full service window. Period. It's especially frustrating when you've traveled specifically to experience their culinary offerings and hit a wall like that. Overall, if you're looking for a spot that feels like a New York-style dive bar with elevated drinks and solid food--if you catch it at the right time--this place delivers. Just plan strategically if brunch is your goal.
