I came in with my friends February 7th at 6:20 and i got one green tea shot, $8 and i tipped $1 and put my total at $9 this was my first time there and then on the Monday morning i was charged $19 for my one shot! I contacted them on ig which told me to email and i did, i was in contact with an alleged manager who told me they were going in the following day when i asked if they were gonna help me because they didn't update me and then they never reached back out!! Very nice place. Played beer pong and pool. 3rd floor bartenders were amazing and staff was awesome! Went down to the second floor and the staff was extremely rude. We made a joke about ordering water and was immediately ostracized. The bartender refused to take our order and eventually asked the security staff to kick us out. I came on Saturday night. The mechanical bull controller was extremely rude, demeaning and inappropriate to me. He cursed me out, put the bull setting on the hardest to "teach me a lesson". He was using the N word and making obscene comments to other riders as well. I have the video to prove it. This was not fun and playful banter as expected but flat out disrespectful and mean. No cover and cheap drinks are the only two positive attributes for this place. Meat market, disgusting bathrooms, and a dirty bar smell are some of the negative aspects. Now that it's no smoking inside, I think it actually smells worse. Although, I should be happy to not smell like an ashtray when I get home and have to wash all my clothes immediately. $3 you-call-it drinks are a great deal for a couple hours Friday and Saturday. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. I visited on Saturday February 10th. I arrived at 8:40 pm. At 9 pm my bf asked if we could receive play cards, a promotion the club promised to the first 100 patrons for the arcade on the first floor. We were denied the promotion because we arrived at 8:40 pm. they would only honor the promotion to people who arrived at exactly 9 pm. The 2 mixed drinks I ordered were not good. I went here a month ago with my friend to celebrate my birthday! Drinks and service were pretty good. There's an arcade on the first floor, the other two generally serve as dance floors. I found the second floor to be more sensory friendly (no flashing lights, no crowds) so my friend and I ended up drinking and dancing there for a few hours. read more

When we were still allowed outside before quarantine, we headed to 2nd street to check places out. We ended in here. There was no cover charge that evening as I don't know if they normally have one. It was quite empty for a friday night around midnight. The bar looks great, but the other half of the place seems "unfinished". The bar prices seem fair and the bartenders are on it. It looks nice on the outside, so was just expecting it to look a little nicer on the inside. I hope that they are busier in the summer when it's warmer and also after covid has settled down more. Rode down last night with my wife on my motorcycle and invited friends. Now I always wear my biker vest. Which we have a great relationship with the community. Now waiting bc we arrived to early. Once the bouncer informed us they will be ready soon for business we will go in. Once open just me and the wife walk up the bouncer stops me and says manager will not allow me in bc how I am dressed meaning more about my vest being on. I informed him that I am dressed like every else is at the bar and far from what they don't allow which is posted. They just said sorry we can't have sumone like how ur dressed be allowed in. Being really confused. We just went to level 2 and was very much welcomed. Dress said NO DURAGS, jerseys, bling bling, grills, hats, and more. The Susquehanna Ale House is the replacement of the infamous Hardware Bar, sadly, it is nothing like the Hardware. You can't get up and dance on the bar, the barber chair has been removed and the waitresses now wear clothes. **A Moment of silence for the hardware bar** Now.... If you can put the memories of the hardware bar aside- you'll be able to have some appreciation for the Susquehanna Ale House. It is much cleaner looking, and less crowded. The dance floor is fairly small, but it doesn't fill too quickly. Pool tables are located right next to the dance floor- which is a bit awkward. Huge TV screens are above the dance floor displaying music videos. The DJ does a pretty good job with the music selection- popular songs mixed in with dance classics. The bar is huge- and they run some great specials. I think they have $2 you-call-its from 10 to 12- and that includes almost every drink. The drinks are pretty big- and don't appear to be watered down. The staff is nice and fast with the drinks. The clientele ranges from people celebrating 21st birthdays to older people out for a casual drink. read more

I'm not sure about the last review. They still have the downtown Hardware Bar. This is at a totally different location. This bar appears very nice inside and has two pool tables. I did not think the drinks were priced bad at all. A Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat and a summer shandy was $7. It's the same price as out of the city. I was expecting more expensive. My waitress new nothing about the beers they offered. I asked if i could try a sample of one before I bought it, but i was not allowed. So i stuck with my regular. I'd never been to a club where everyone was just standing around looking bored until I went to Susquehanna Ale House. It was a Saturday night and the place had a decent amount of patrons. It was the strangest thing. Everyone might have been bored and not dancing because the DJ was playing really bad music. The playlist was primarily all the worst music from the 80s, 90s, and now. Or maybe it was because the floor was the nastiest, stickiest floor I've stood on since back in my undergrad days. Regardless, everyone seemed like they were over this place and were giving off "anti-fun" vibes. However, there was no cover, the beer was cold, and this place is a 5 minute walk from my apartment, so I'd give it another go sometime soon. read more

Cocktails are super cheap on Saturday they have their 3$ deal up until 11pm. They have a really spacious dancing area. Although, every time I get a drink their I swear they water it down and I never taste the alcohol. That might be a good thing for some people but it makes me feel as if they do not put any liquor in the drinks. It's always the blonde girl with the bangs that makes the drinks bad. However at 1 a.m, When everyone took off, after buying a micro beer, I was hounded by multiple waitresses about another drink. After the third time, I asked for some water. What happened? Well I was brought out a bottle of water and told $2.... and I said no thank you. I wanted a FOUNTAIN water. Well she came back and said the bartender(who was dressed like JT about 5 years ago with top hat) said only bottled water was available and I said no and walked away. I used the restroom and when I exited, I was CONFRONTED by the bartender who still insisted that I ordered this bottle water that I did not want! I restated my request for fountain water and it was blown off making me out to be some sort of bad guy. Really? All that effort over a bottle water worth to them 5 cents?? This is basically what is left of the Hardware Bar after it closed. They turned it in to one floor instead of 3. This is one of the few bars with no cover. This was turned into the Alehouse due to dragonfly next door getting closed and all the bad came right next door. The funny thing is they changed it to address all the bad that is coming to Harrisburg but closing Dragonfly or Hardware bar has not done that. The Alehouse is Ok but nothing like the hardware bar days. The place does get crowed sometimes but mostly lame as Harrisburg usually is anymore. read more

Good for going out dancing if you go on a busy night. The music is extremely loud, so communication with your friends is very difficult. The bar service is very good and the sitting area above the dance floor is very spacious and comfortable. Go if you're expecting to dance and mingle. Oh, come on, this place is getting better. Most of that is due to the fact that it now does, indeed, have a dance floor. This is one of the few dance clubs left in Harrisburg, and it does a decent job of what it is intended to. For those who don't know, this space used to be called the Hardware Bar. In that iteration it was more of a frat-party type of establishment, which started to go downhill once they stopped booking live bands (what a shocker). Now it's a classier joint, but still a place where you can go and meet new people. I feel safer here than I ever did at Hardware. I also feel less excited here than at Hardware. It's just the new direction that the city is going, but at least some of the feel is coming back. They'll get four stars from me if they re-open the top level and integrate the space the way they used to! read more
