Moved across the street and keep going back to this place all the time. The Italian stallion lunch sandwich is amazing and the breakfast sandwiches are incredible. Super friendly staff and a nice place to sit outside when you want to eat there. Only down side is it is on the pricey side. So be prepared to spend more than your typical breakfast/lunch sandwich spot. They also have a nice small shopping area by the counter. Includes cooking marinades, salsas, hot sauce and much more. Just had Nohea Cafe for the first time at work (they will now cater to our office). I really enjoyed the experience. It's very clear that the meats and produce are fresh which really gave me a peasant lunch experience. The sandwiches are presented in a Boar's Head brand wrapper that really adds to the "straight from the deli" feeling. Overall, really enjoyed it! read more

The egg was perfect and all the flavors together were delicious served in a cute basket, but basket is not practical and would of rather had a plate. Oatmeal (4.95) The tiniest bowl of oatmeal which is not worth the money. Just make it at home or go somewhere else for a nice big bowl of warm oatmeal. The granola was okay and my 6 year old did not like it, but I tried it and felt it need some fruit and yogurt. They have a kids breakfast menu, but 2 of the 3 items had scrambled eggs which does not appeal to my 6 year old. Pancakes would be a good addition onto there. There was an extensive kids lunch menu. I really enjoy this place. The location and menu are my style plus the location is great for those in the west loop looking for a good lunch rob fast option. They do need to work on the speed of the service (good food takes time is posted but as others noted this is a very long amount of time most days). I only go when I have some time- this is not a quick stop for takeout. The food is really good and I've never had anything I don't like. I love the hot tea/coffee as well. Service most of the time is great but I have been in the place a couple of times on a "bad" day where the friendliness lacks a bit. Overall I'd recommend for quality food at good prices. read more

We had a great lunch here!! Super cute cafe, a great addition to the neighborhood. There were plenty of people, but not too crowded and there was no line. The sandwiches were hearty and the ciabatta bread was perfect. The herbed cream cheese was a nice complement to the BLT, whose bacon was nice and meaty and not fatty, crumbly, or greasy. This place just felt comfortable. There's a variety of seating from padded booths and armchairs and the artwork on the walls/ceiling was great eye-catching. The deli/gourmet food items available for purchase were nicely displayed and a creative addition. Nohea is definitely a nice lunch type cafe, though they have a few breakfast sandwiches on the menu. We didn't try the coffee or desserts either, but they looked delicious. In reference to the other reviews, they definitely now have their espresso machine, as the drinks are on the menu. As others have mentioned, Nohea is a great addition to the West Loop! The food is good and the atmosphere is very quaint. I'm a big fan of the Morning Glory breakfast sandwich, croissants and scones, while my husband prefers the ham and egg breakfast croissant. Coffee and lunch sandwiches are delicious as well. My only small complaint is their odd hours. For a café serving breakfast and espresso, it's bizarre that they wouldn't open before 8am on weekdays (and would love for them to be open Sundays as well). I understand it's a family run business, but would expect that they could hire someone to open earlier. Since I've been raving about Nohea to coworkers, one tried to stop by the other morning. When she went to open the (locked) door, she was met with a blank stare by the woman behind the counter as she had arrived at 7:55, trying to make it to work by 8. Instead of opening a few minutes early, the woman stood there until my coworker walked away. Seems like a missed opportunity to impress and welcome a new customer. read more

Nohea Cafe is one of those small local shops that are so much more needed in the West loop. I visit them almost on a daily basis and try a new sandwich everyday - the wait staff is very friendly and the food is very fresh and quality - no matter what combo you pick they are very generous there. It's a great place to grab a cup of coffee or a snack or those wonderful doughnuts they have! Every time you see one it's hard to resist. They are very friendly and family operated! It's always nice to see a familiar face there. When it's nice out they have a outside patio you can sit out and relax. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good coffee or bite to eat. I stopped into Nohea for the first time this morning. The place is cute, the bagel I ordered delicious, but the owner (I assumed) was a little bit off. She was aggressive and whiny with the staff (who were waiting on me at the time), and stood behind the counter--in full view and ear shot of all customers--having a conversation on the telephone about hiring a new employee. To top it off, she wasn't even nice to whomever was on the other end of the line. Don't you have a back room in which you could conduct your business? I didn't get a good vibe from the place and I was made uncomfortable by the aggression coming off this lady. I don't know... I don't think I'll be back, as I prefer the really warm, friendly environment of Morgan Street a few blocks east. Truly though, good bagel! Maybe it was just a bad day for this woman? Really has alot of potential but for the price you get a TINY sandwich and nothing else with it. Same prices as Jerrys but way smaller portions and no side or pickle. My sandwich today had more lettuce and bread than meat and cheese and it was very dry. For a size comparison the sandwich had a diameter about 3/4 of the length of an iphone. Staff does not wear name tags so I have to describe another way - with that said I was there this morning Asian girl asked me what I wanted ... She asked me for my name I told her my first name , by that point another staff was in the vicinity , Asian girl was trying to type my name when this other staff girl said "just put Rose" with a scoff. This other girl staff apparently was rushing to ring up her customer for 30-some odd dollars. So that was that - I thought . This other girl staff motions the Asian girl to keep ringing and she "fixes " my latte. That was it! After a couple of sips I noticed it's bitterness That latte was not worth one dollar. I am so thrilled that someone has moved into the old Sweet Thang! After that huge disaster, I'm pleased and excited for another venture. I've been to this establishment twice now, and both times have been extremely pleasant. The staff is extremely warm and welcoming, especially Shirley the owner. They seem to be serving breakfast, lunch, and prepared dinner items. They have coffee, teas, and bottle drinks, croissants and other pastries, breakfast sandwiches, lots of lunch sandwich's, and then other prepared foods. I have a delicious breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and cheese served on a delicious baguette. I have also had the turkey burger which was delicious and juicy! Coffee is intelligentsia, so it's good. The negatives thus far. No latte machine, so they won't be much competition to Starbucks. They close at 8pm which means they won't be open for the post-dinner crowd, which is ashame because they carry 8 different flavors of wonderful ice cream! A little on the pricey side. Sandwich's run close to $9, served with chips but no drink. The prepared salads are VERY small. I would suggest having a few lunch specials to try to balance the expense. It's a pleasant room with friendly help that draws a lovely and diverse mix of folks--the way the city ought to be: West Loop veterans like multi decade moi, new moms from the hood with strollers in tow, police academy recruits, working folks from the tech and retail corridor. Coffee and pastries are tasty as are the sandwiches and salads and there's lots of exotic candy and chips and juices too. The owners are quietly Christian--there are a few small wall hangings with scriptural or inspirational quotes. But the atmosphere is open and tolerant and me and my other non-Christian and 'alternative lifestyle' friends have never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome.
