Grain & Veggie Simple Bowl with Chicken and side of vegetables
    Julie C.

This is a good, healthy choice for delivery. I ordered a grain & veggie simple bowl with roast chicken and lemon thyme sauce, an extra side of vegetables, and a dark chocolate cashew pudding. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and the roast chicken was especially delicious. The vegetables were a nice mix of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots chopped into small pieces, which benefited from the added flavor of the sauce. The pudding had a deep chocolate flavor and a fluffy texture, and it wasn't overly sweet. Each item was fairly inexpensive for delivery food, but the portion sizes were also on the small side. I think that makes sense given the high quality of the ingredients - it's just something to be aware of when ordering. I'd recommend adding an extra side of protein if you're very hungry. Overall, Ben's fits the bill for a tasty delivery meal with clean ingredients. I'll definitely order from them again.

The food was outstanding! Sure it's a ghost kitchen, but the food was so dang fresh and delicious. We were happy and filled up with the 2 orders we got. Walking in and ordered at the order kiosk and waited 10 min or so for the order to be ready. See photos and know we will order from this place again.

Ben's was a great lunch, and everything I'm looking for in a quick refuel during a busy work day. The pulled chicken grain bowl was excellent and used very healthy, wholesome ingredients. The portion size was great and I was very full but not overstuffed. There was a ton of flavor in the bowl and would easily order again. I also ordered the chocolate pudding and although it was solid, it seemed like it melted a bit in transit as it was very liquid, but still tasty. Thanks Ben's!

I ordered this through door dash so I cannot comment on the service or ambiance, but the food was delicious. It was very filling and a large portion for the cheap price. I wish there was more protein I would've expected probably double what I got but that's okay the rest was delicious

I just ordered from here for the first time and I have to say.... BEST DELIVERY EVER. The Wagu and Chicken is arguably the best I have ever had and everything is so fresh. The Chipotle and the Ranch sauce.... WOW. Thanks for making healthy fresh food!

Disgusting boiled chickpeas and potatoes drenched in salt!! They are GRAY they were boiled to death!

I can't believe how disappointed and frankly pissed off I am!! I read the reviews and everyone is saying how delicious and fresh this food is .fresh?????? I ordered the chickpeas and potatoes and it was absolutely DISGUSTING!! Apparently they do not know how to cook because they boiled everything! The chickpeas and potatoes were boiled to death, in an obscene amount of salt to the point they turned GRAY!! PIC provided. The pork shoulder and veggies were, you guess it, boiled as well! The veggies are just 90% broccoli with little bit of carrots all boiled!! WTF!! I am so freaking pissed off right now! I was starving and couldn't wait to dig into a healthy fresh meal and I got This crap!!!! I forced down the broccoli and pork but chickpeas and potatoes were completely inedible. Went straight into the trash! Where it belongs!!

Delicious and very healthy. I felt great afterwards. The dressing brought all the flavors together.

We happened to already be in the city that day and somehow got lucky finding a reservation close to the time we were already nearby, so we knew we had to take our chance! The whole place is beautiful and has such a cozy, classic Chicago feel. I would absolutely come back, but next time I really want to sit outside because their outdoor patio is gorgeous. The staff was also super friendly and really helpful with recommendations throughout the night. We started with the warm Parker House rolls, which were so soft, fluffy, buttery, and delicious. Then we shared the vodka rigatoni, and the portion was definitely big enough for two people to split. So creamy, comforting, and really good. Of course we had to end with one of their classics, the sticky date cake, and OMG. Soooo good. Warm, rich, sweet, and the perfect way to finish dinner. Definitely worth finally checking off my list, and I'd happily come back again, especially for a patio night!

A brief background; been in Chicago for about 15 years. Heard of Au Cheval back in 2015 or 16. Took a while to give it a shot and went; wait for 2 hours. Hmmmmm, didn't work out. Tried a second time 2 or 3 years later. Still didn't happen. Tried a third time when I had a friend visiting from overseas....wait time was just so long and just didn't have the 'desire' to wait that long. I think for the first time in my life, I had to kick myself as I wish I would have waited the very first time. Had my nephew visiting me from out of town. While I did want to take him to Au Cheval, with the limited time I had, I did not want to wait. I happened to go on their website and noticed that they now offer reservations. That was one of the most beautiful sights I had seen in a long time. Not only do I get to take my nephew out to Au Cheval, but I myself finally get to try the burgers here that have been the talk of the town and were rated the best burger in the United States of America for many years. My nephew absolutely devoured and loved the burger. He was in heaven. I cannot say I was not in heaven myself because the burger was absolutely epic, but that's not just what this review is about. This review is about one of the few joints in America that I have come across and that provided the level of attention to detail and went way above and beyond what I would have ever imagined in my wildest dreams to make this a memorable lunch. She had gone with my mother-in-law as well, so it was my mother-in-law, my nephew, and I. My mother-in-law is a vegetarian, and we figured we would go ahead and get the fries. What we did not know was that the fries are in beef tallow or have some beef seasoning (I forget), so in the end, she was not able to eat anything. My nephew and I just ordered each a burger. Our server proactively brought a house salad, which was vegetarian, and he said, "This is on the house. You guys enjoy the burgers." That, honestly, is a level of service that goes beyond usual service, but there was human empathy involved here. After a while, the head chef comes out, super friendly, and asks how everything was. He then says, "I heard you've been waiting 10 years over here, and I hope it was worth it." He made sure my mother and I were comfortable, and he made sure my nephew was comfortable. The level of service and care here was very special, and I personally appreciated it from the heart. For me, it was a memory built with my nephew and my mother-in-law, one that is going to stick with us for the rest of our lives. Not to mention, I am getting hungry right now, so I need to make a reservation and go down there tomorrow.

What a mistake! Our waiter was definitely on some sort of stimulent drug. He tried to rush us to order then didn't come back for a long time. He never came back to the table to check on us. I got the steak frites (medium rare) and the steak was cold to the touch and raw inside. It was so gross that I couldn't eat any of it and told the bus boy to take it off my bill when he came to take our plates. He asked me if I wanted it wrapped up as it was completely untouched and I was like no, thanks. The frites were some dehydrated potato shoe string thing that was extremely over salted and inconsistent texture. Some were crispy and some were soggy. You have to buy bread (there are 2 options) at around $15 each. Luckily there are a ton of better restaurants in the area to get a good meal with decent service.
