I hate being the odd ball on reviews, but I just couldn't get on board with the 5 star train on this one. My visit was for a weekday lunch. I got the fried chicken sandwich while my boyfriend got the turkey sandwich. Neither of us cared for the turkey sandwich. It had some bbq corn chips on it that were so overpowering. The sandwich had a lot of good, interesting flavors, but it was just too much for us. The fried chicken sandwich was good, but the bun was a little dry and the chicken itself didn't have that much flavor. The sauce was awesome though. Things I loved about this place... the sea salt and vinegar chips. SO GOOD! I also really liked the housemade pickles on my sandwich. Service was friendly and the restaurant was trendy, hip, clean, with a nice open feeling. My boyfriend said he'd still give this place 4 stars. But when I asked him if he'd want to meet me here for lunch again, he said no. So in my books, that's a 3 stars. I might have to twist his arm into just one more visit though... I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and was a bit disappointed. The chicken was dry and there seemed to be more spicy breading than chicken. The best thing about the sandwich was the zucchini pickles that came on it, they were delicious. I also enjoyed the side salad. I liked the inside of the restaurant, it was not too loud from other conversations and it was easy to have talk with others at the table. On the plus side, the food came quickly and the servers were very nice. I will go back to try something else, and hope it is better. read more

Loved Nomad!!! Kind of a weird location out near the airport. But absolutely worth the trip out there! I loved the vibe here. Felt like I could just hang out here all night. The service was also super kind and personable. Now on to the FOOD. Yum!! We tried the Margherita and Betty White pizzas and I absolutely loved both. Probably preferred the Betty White a little more. I feel like the prices are super fair for the quality and amount of food we got. I was planning to just eat half of my pizza and save the rest for lunch tomorrow, but I literally Could. Not. Stop. Excellent lunch spot! Nomad is absolutely off the beaten path, but spectacularly worth the journey! I was in the area for work and Yelp led me and my pals to this 5 reviewed joint--thank you Yelp! Nomad has an eclectic and utterly mouth watering menu--so many choices with incredibly unique flavor combos. On this first visit I got the fish sandwich (tilapia, tarragon tartar, pickled celery, lacinato kale and red cabbage slaw) served with the house made salt and vinegar chips. I had never even heard of pickled celery!!! Each and every bite was nothing short of a flavor filled masterpiece. I have been back a couple times and the food here does not disappoint! The pizzas were fantastic....nice chewy thin crust with a perfectly crisp crust, fresh tomato sauce, and primo toppings like the spicy hot Calabrese and homemade sausage. My discerning east coast pizza criteria was fully met. The spicy chicken sandwich continues to be my favorite, with its sweat inducing sauce and crispy breaded chicken thighs. Who likes dark meat? Even the pickles here were a hit with my pickle hating coworkers. They are house made out of zucchinis. So good!! The fried mortadella sandwich was a really novel idea and tasted like the best bologna sandwich you could ever imagine. David the manager will personally see to it that you are happy with your meal and he takes time to talk with his customers. Nice touch. You can feel great about supporting this local small business. The dressing tasted like a homemade thousand island. Not my style. OK look I need to apologize about something. I have known about this place for couple years but never went there because I was an idiot and judged the book by its cover. It's in kind of a weird place over by the airport almost an industrial-ish type of location and so I never really had a desire to go over there. But I went there tonight.... I'll tell you what I was blown away!!! Everything was really really good. The fries with my sandwich were just amazing I don't know why. The flavor was great the consistency was great it was just great. I had the knuckle sandwich which is roast beef with a cheese sauce on it and it was amazing. Perfectly flavored beef perfect tenderness and incredible cheese sauce on it. My kids had a cheese pizza and it was such a good cheese pizza. It was with authentic mozzarella slices like they do back in Italy and some places in New York ... ya know the margarita style pizzas. And you know what this cheese pizza was just as good as one of my favorite places in Florence Italy called Gusta pizza! It was really good!! And then we ended with the Tres Leche which was AWESOME. It was a fast casual place with quick service and a super modern but fun and casual vibe. Obviously I need to rave about the food. The salads my friend and I had were both amazing. I had the squash salad and it was a perfect portion with great flavor and a super yummy dressing. I wish I could eat this for lunch every day! My friend tried the smoked salmon salad and she also said it was amazing! We also got a side of fries and they were cooked perfectly. Visiting from Cali and decided to try this restaurant out. Found them on Yelp. We ordered a couple pizzas, salad, an app and drinks. We loved the breakfast pizza by far. Knuckle sandwich was overpowered by the horseradish. Kettle chips were good along side the rest of the items ordered. The only turn off was the energy from our server. She seemed to be unhappy based off of her actions We requested plates/ utensils when our food arrived. She decided to bust tables and 5 minutes later from our initial request only brought napkins and forks. We waited patiently and another 5 or so minutes passed and we had to get up to request them. She basically refused to bring them over. Overall our experience was nice minus the poor customer service from our server. The rest of the team we interacted with were great! read more

Fun and unique dining experience in a strange location out by the airport but worth the trip. Hip interior (although didn't love how loud the music was) and super friendly and attentive staff who were happy to give us a full rundown of the menu along with recommendations. I had the hot chicken. Honestly, it doesn't touch Hattie B's in Nashville but this sandwich is quite good for Salt Lake. The side of house made salt & vinegar chips were excellent, a buttery smooth crisp that melted in your mouth. They have a lot of unique menu options and I plan to come back and try more. So, usually wherever i go in the U.S. I can count on my yelp friends to save me from chain hell, and help me find a great local establishment to experience and enjoy as part of my travel. (ok, ok a couple have been good,but not a good average) So having had a series of a few hits, and some serious misses, I am beginning to think y'all need to step up and help an out of towner out. Case in point is this place. I passed by 3 other places i was considering because this place had 4.5 stars. Read some reviews and was thinking it would be good before i head to the airport. Strike #1, I hate places where you order up front, and get your own drinks, napkins silverware and condiments, unless you are a burger joint. It can be ok, but when they swivel the card reader around and EXPECT you to tip on top of it, its too much for me. So crabby as can be, i gather my stuff and go find a table. I should have checked it out better, so this one might be on me to begin with. Strike#2 menu help, I ask the counter help for some suggestions, and i get the annoyed, "what are you doing here if you don't know look", I ask about a few different items, and she is really getting annoyed. Really annoyed when i ask about the few items that intrigue me, and I get answers like "that is really small, or no one has ever ordered that". So i finally ask what the herd orders since that is what she wants me to do, and I now place my order to avoid annoying her any further, and go gather my stuff and go find a table. Strike#3 The Food.I ordered the split wing dish because i was intrigued. Yes, i know what white BBQ is, and yes, I have tasted it before, and Yes, this is not it. Yes, the citrus powder does not taste like citrus, it tastes and looks like stale sumac powder. The regular wings were good and one of the only reasons why this place got two stars instead of one. The Pizza was interesting. Interesting in that with an actual brick fired oven that they spent a lot of time on, they couldn't come up with a better crust than they did. Tough, overworked, and dense. My braces were yelling at me to quit. So i scalped the toppings, which were not good, and was done with it. The pepperoni was small and thick so it dished out and the Cheese was penurious. The Jalapenos were very mild, which i am beginning to think is a Utah thing. So imagine an Even Stevens restaurant knock off that's not good, and you have this place described. What can I say? Good eats and modern, relaxed vibes right by the airport. Absolutely perfect for snagging a meal you actually want to eat before flying back out without the rush. Simply order at the counter and food is brought out to you. While the menu wasn't extensive, I'd say there was an option for everyone. I looooved the Broccoli Bob pizza! All the goodies in pasta carbonara with the satisfaction of broccolini. The veggie makes it healthy. ;) The pizza came out larger than I was expecting, and I promptly announced to my coworker that there was no way I was finishing it and he should help himself. That... turned out to be a lie. I ate every bit. No Crumb Left Behind. My coworker had the chicken sandwich. This place is on point. I've had their buffalo chicken sandwich and it was delicious but we have had their pizzas quite a few time and they never cease to amaze. The Betty white is a wonderful spin on the traditional white pizza and I love that it is topped with arugula. So scrumptious! The newest addition to their menu (replacing the meatza pizza) is on that has pepperoni, Jalapeño, a honey drizzle, scallions, marinara and cheese. It was amazing!! The location for nomad isn't ideal but this side of town needs a little love and so I am thrilled they are here. Also, we've ordered pizza to go from them which can tend to not work so well for most thin crust speciality pizzas but I'm pleased to report that this was delicious as a to-go order. This is like a secret place by the airport. Came here with friends one night and sat at the bar to catch up. Service was great. I had the ginger beer (honey and grapefruit) it was light and nice. And my friends ordered margaritas which they liked. The fish in the fish tacos was really fresh and delicious and I got the wedge salad with fired chicken, which was just enough for me. We sat by the fire with our drinks to make a decision. I'm still Keto and introducing more plant based dishes. The seasonal Acorn Squash bake with Apple butter and ROMP vinaigrette. Nomad is one of the places in Salt Lake that you hear about constantly. They are flying high, great reviews from word of mouth and via Yelp, even though their location is less than convenient - so that's excellent! Needless to say, it took me forever to stop in. And I enjoyed my visit, but it left me with some *extreme* mixed feelings. Nomad has a very modern, and open set up. You order directly as you come in, and sit down and wait for your food. They have a selection of sauces for toppings (EVOO, Balsamic, Chili Oil, normal ketchup/mustard, etc) near the silver wear, and water. The bar is viewable from any distance, but only caters to those 21+, ya know, per the usj. I took a minute to look over any drink I'd be interested in trying, decided to opt out today, and went straight for the Garden Party sandie... veganized. I was previously told by a friend to go with the fries, so I order them as well, a $2 extra fee. So here is where I have mixed feelings. The sandwich came out in all it's $10 glory.. and I immediately knew it was overpriced. The measly side of fries was ridiculous, and shouldn't have had an extra charge. As I bit in, I found this sandwich, though named "Garden Party" completely lacked the garden. There were sprouted lentils, zucchini, spread, an some greens on it. That was it. No garden. No tomato, shredded carrot, beets, no onions, peppers, anything. For $10 this sandwich lacked A TON. And I'm sorely disappointed by the fillings of it. That being said, I thought about this sandwich constantly - and I mean, CONSTANTLY - for the next few days, and wanted more. Ergo, mixed feelings. My friend had ordered their Greek Salad, and we also found it extremely lacking in toppings. For a "Greek" salad, there were no olives, feta, peppercinis, tomatoes. I just feel Nomad need to bulk up what they are providing for their vegan/veggie friends, or those not ordering their famous Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I want to try Nomad again....but I'd be going in, and asking for MORE veggies in my "Garden" Party sandwich, and would have to pay even more for something that shouldn't start at $10 to begin with. I just... can't... justify that. I'm so conflicted here. I need someone to help justify why this is okay before I would probably stop in again. Help. read more

Everybody is going to tell you about the spicy chicken sandwich. That whole Nashville hot chicken thing is so hot right now, and they're going to tell you to come in and get that here. They're not wrong. Honestly, all the food was good here, but you probably are going to hear more about that chicken than anything and it's going to overshadow the pizza things going on, the other sandwiches, the falafel, and other creative explorations on the menu. You're also going to hear stuff about the weird location. That's not wrong, either. It's somewhat strange indeed, out by the airport like that. But if you're in downtown SLC, it's not too far of a drive. And if you're staying out near the airport (hi, tourists!) then there is absolutely no question that this restaurant is your salvation and your only true destination. Plus, they had Normal Ice Cream confections last time I was there, and that's just the icing on the cake. When is that hot chicken going to show up on a pizza? Gimmicky, maybe... but hmu and let's try it sometime? read more

It's no wonder Nomad Eatery has 5 stars on Yelp and it's no wonder I am giving them another 5 Star review. I was blown away by every aspect of this establishment. For starters, the service was top notch. The man who took our order was so happy and kind. He also did everything in his power to try to accommodate us and our one-year-old. Even though they didn't have crayons or anything to distract our baby while we waited for our food, he took the time to look for something she could draw with when we asked and wasn't even put off by the request. We ordered our food and sat down. A few minutes into waiting, one of the employees, Christian, informed us that our pizza orders were going to take a bit longer because a big order of pizzas had come in just before ours. He offered to bring us something to eat while we waited. When we asked for fries, he didn't even hesitate. The fries were delicious, thin and crispy and loaded with salt! My favorite. When our pizzas finally came (it wasn't even a long wait), they seemed to forget about our order of fish tacos too. Because they didn't come right at the same time, Christian again offered to bring us dessert after our meal because of the inconvenience (which wasn't even much of an inconvenience). The food was mindblowing. The Children of the Corn Pizza was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. The flavor was unreal! Our Margherita pizza was also delicious and so were the fish tacos. Everything was filling and the very fresh! I was also extremely impressed with the price. For the service, quality of food, and the ambiance I would have expected to pay $15-$25 per person. Everything on the menu was $13 or under and was worth every penny. I will recommend this place to anyone! I could tell that all the employees worked hard to make their customers enjoy the experience. Nomads is like the cool hipster cousin you have that is into homemade meals. In other words I love it. Although this restaurant is on the pricier side (especially on the alcohol- $9 for one can of cider ouch!) the food is fresh and you can literally see it being made in front of you. I've enjoyed eating their pizzas and salads and I haven't been disappointed. The Betty white in particular is sooooo good. Arugula garlic sauce and pickled cauliflower- yum! The place is a mix of sit down and fast dining. You come in and order from a cashier take a number and then grab your plates from a bin near the door. I don't really mind as it feels like your own table with friends. There is a separate bar area to hang out which is a bit more casual. read more

One of the local magazines concluded that Nomad has the best hot chicken sandwich in town. As a true fan of Pretty Bird, I had to taste for myself. And man, that local magazine had it all wrong. The reason I didn't like Nomad's hot chicken was because the fried chicken itself didn't have as much crunch, flavor and spice compared to its competitor and relied too much on the sauce to bring those factors in. There was way too much bun and the slaw just wasn't all that flavorful and didn't add to the profile. We also got the Korean chicken wings and as a Korean, I wasn't impressed. And for my husband, a non-Korean, he wasn't impressed either. Again, the flavor was just lacking. Nothing spectacular and nothing memorable. I don't have much to say about the location, except that it's off the beaten path out there but I'm sure the rest of civilization will eventually spread out that way. The restaurant itself was modern, comfy and enjoyable with different seating areas for lounging and/or eating. They did a really nice job with it. read more
