Loved loved this new spot on S 1st! The whole space is concealed and really does feel like a nice beach restaurant. It's mostly outdoor space so be prepared to eat outside. The drinks are mezcal/tequila heavy and a little sweet, didn't love any of them. I'll stick to just tequila next time. They have plenty of parking right now and the service was amazing. We tried: - octopus - charred and so good. Def recommend if you like it - hamachi ceviche - did not love the mezcal mousse, which felt like majority of the dish - jicama tacos - get them. I can't believe the incredible transformation of the word of mouth bakery to this stylish indoor/outdoor vibey restaurant now. The decor and ambiance are as marketed - you do feel like you're in a coastal chic restaurant away from Austin. The music is well curated - just wish it was a tad bit louder, especially to drown out the traffic sounds. The service was attentive and diligent, especially any food allergies/sensitivities. We had planned to sit in the main outdoor restaurant but learned about the happy hour menu and opted for the bar cantina. The flatbread is so so good - can't believe it's gluten-free! The Sikil Pak was delicious. The cochinitas is listed as a pork item but they made me a mushroom version of it. It was so convincing that even the server double checked himself. The horchata and tamarind sour were both excellent - some of the absolute best zero-proof drink options I've had. The star of the night though was the churros. It was so perfect - and again, gluten-free - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Please don't miss this, even if you're "not a dessert person". All in all, finally a new restaurant that delivers on its commitment. The menu was creative but well executed. My husband absolutely loved his tuna crudo and even ordered a second one. Nomade is a blend of Mexican and Caribbean cusine. I was memorized by their laid back decor inside and out! My husband and I came for restaurant week. We made a reservation in advance and sat at the bar to watch the kitchen. To be honest, there's not much to see. Most of their cooking is done in the back back kitchen. For restaurant week, you get 4 courses for $60. The dishes were SO delicious, but very small. My favorites were the Wagu, shrimp, and branzino. For dessert - the flan is BOMB!! I would like a whole dish of their flan please! Overall, service was excellent and vibes were high. I'll come back for drinks and light bites with friends. read more

Attentive without being overbearing. Knowledgeable about the food they're serving AND how it's prepared. "Wandered in" for happy hour. The concrete benches are slightly more comfortable than the wooden ones. Tables in the Cantina are...tiny is an understatement. Nice HH cocktails. Nice HH prices. Tried several HH menu items - Seafood heavy (raw, which is my jam) - East coast oysters are on point! As is the scallop aqua Chile and the tuna crudo. Chips and salsa are great but beware the charred habaneros. Jamaica Fizz was 'OK ' Flatbread w/ chimichurri was OK, I didn't get a lot of flavor from the chimichurri, like it lacks salt or acid. Tuna tostada thing, great Pollo, really, really, good. Churros delicious. This place takes itself very seriously, which can feel a little tedious, and a tad expensive for the portion. It was a neat experience, we might come back again. read more

Had a great experience with girlfriends celebrating our birthdays! Got a reservation for 5:15pm on a Friday which allowed each of us to have a happy hour drink. We then ordered the seafood tower for something to share, which was excellent. Then we ordered the coconut flatbread, the grilled octopus, tikin xic (which was swordfish) and the enmoladas verdes. The tikin xic was incredible. The enmoladas were cold, but still good. Overall a great experience. Our waiter was a little soft spoken which made it hard to hear recommendations (having to speak over the music) but he was very attentive. I look forward to coming back! read more

This place is so cute. The staff are all dressed in neutrals, are very attentive, and take the time to walk you through the entire menu explaining what's in each dish and the flavor profile thereof. When we visited, Brian was our server and he was great. Everything we had was delicious -- an absolute experience. Highly recommend the tamarind mocktail. Though we also ordered cocktails, the tamarind mocktail was the crowd favorite. Cute southwestern spin on traditional foods. Will return. My husband and I took our daughter and future son n law here and we were not a fan. The food was good, but this restaurant is grain free. The plates are more of tapas. There is a lot of raw fish on the menu. Great atmosphere, but we sat outside and the misters were very heavy and getting our hair wet. Nomade is so delicious and the vibes transport me back to tulum! We ordered off the austin restaurant week menu along with the regular menu and I loved everything. Our server recommended a few items and he hit the nail spot on the head! My favorite dishes were the tuna crudo in a coconut shell, waygu steak and the coconut flan. The flan was so good that I ordered an additional one to take home. My husband had the mezcal cocktail and I had la Jungla. He said he enjoyed his, but I could have skipped the cocktail and ordered another dessert. I will say the cocktail prices are super steep at $17 a drink! (Is that the going rate now? And I don't get out enough?) The soft shell crab was a lovely bite and the flavors so unique. I thought every single dish here was refreshing, bright, and generally balanced. My husband was a fan of the striped bass and loved the flan too (and typically, he hates coconut!). Though, I thought the striped bass skin was a little bit too salty for me. I'd definitely go back because I'd love to try to the coconut bread and the charred octopus. Generally, I love foods that are bright, herbaceous, seafood and plant forward and grilled. Nomade checked all those boxes! For our meal for two - we ended up paying about $250 which isn't bad, but also a little steep considering the serving size. read more

Still my favorite guacamole on the planet! The Tuna Tostada is phenomenal and hits every tastebud on your palate! Love the sorbet mimosas as well. The setting is so incredibly unique and you almost feel like you've been transported to a beach in another country. Service was on point - we never had to ask for anything. 3 1/2 stars The good- The Jamaican Fizz cocktail was truly delicious and made very well. The short ribs were super good. They were the star of our meal. The service was also excellent. Everyone was really friendly and our server was very attentive. Room for improvement- The ceviche was just not that good and portion size was too small for the price . The tostado sauces were okay. I like the spice but there just wasn't much flavor. The Camarones cost $24 and there were 3 pieces of shrimp in it. The shrimp were okay but the dish was just subpar and definitely not worth the price tag. My friend and I walked out paying over $120 each so total meal with tip was just over $250. I honestly just don't think they provided enough food nor was it good enough for the price tags they are charging. read more

The inviting outdoor patio and dining area are perfect for when the weather gets better. I can't wait to come back and enjoy their dog-friendly outdoor space with our fur baby! Parking: They have a small parking lot in the back, but if you don't mind a short walk, street parking is also free nearby. Easy peasy! Food Highlights: We went during Restaurant Week, which was an absolute delight! For $60, you get a 4-course menu filled with flavorful options. Heads up, though--the portions of the Prix Fixe dishes during Restaurant Week are smaller compared to the regular orders (check out the size comparison of the tuna tostada ). Still, everything was delicious and beautifully presented! Service: One thing to note: they don't split bills, so plan ahead! But here's the silver lining--free churros at the end of our meal! What a sweet surprise! Ambiance: This spot is definitely worth a return trip--especially when the weather is perfect for some al fresco dining. My girlfriend and I are in town from San Diego and I can't say enough good things about this place. Being from SD and so close to the border I thought I knew Mexican food. I've never had anything like this and it was amazing. Not to mention it's a beautiful space. We sat outside in the terrazza and ordered from the restaurant week menu. The scallop crudo will blow your hair back it's so good. We honestly hadn't even heard of some of the items on the menu (shhh, don't judge me ) and our server Sarah was terrific. She took the time to walk us through the dishes and then helped us pick out perfect wine pairings. Not to mention it was Wine Wednesday so it ended up being quite the deal. I'm not sure when we will be back in town, but we will certainly be eating here again. read more

At Nomade you feel like you've been transported to Tulum! Fabulous ambiance with climate / weather controlled outdoor dining area, which is much more spacious than the indoor dining. You'll probably want to be outside though, once you see the space. If it's evening or nighttime you might also want to be enjoy the outdoor dining, which says a lot being that I went in the midst of a Texas summer. We went for Sunday brunch. The guacamole & crispy tortillas, Benedict (minus the pork) & mimosas (1 pineapple, 1 strawberry) were all good. Overall it's not mind blowing food, but moderate, fresh & tasty. I had the vegetarian version of the Panuchos Benedict made with crispy stuffed tortilla, black bean, cochinita pibil, 144 degree egg and chipotle hollandaise. The only difference is I got my eggs fried. I think my friend had the Masa Waffles, which were crispy-ish, but not too thick, and topped with fresh fruit/berries. We also tried their version of elotes - not my fave but edible and including red peppers, more yucutan style. It sounds like Nomade's kitchen is gluten free. My sorbet mimosas were fine but with little sorbet topping due to melting I assume. They also have a zero proof drink menu for those wanting mocktails. Also Great service. Our server was kind and accommodating. The venue is beautiful and immersive. If I returned it'd probably be for a date night, perhaps light bights & drinks or to check out the dinner menu. read more

Literally the BEST HAPPY HOUR! Im usually super weary of seafood in Austin but honestly it's so good here. Love the Crudo dishes - Yellowtail Hamachi & the Scallop Crudo are my go-tos! The Scallop Crudo did change (I am not sure if its seasonal) but I have loved both variations, the first was more chopped with apple if I remember right and the current menu has it sliced on top of a citrus supreme in a delicious coconut milk! I have a food allergy unfortunately present in a bit of their dishes but the staff is SO CAREFUL and makes sure I am taken care of! Are you kidding me? We are so spoiled here in ATX. My husband took me to Nomadé tonight for my birthday. He gets to put a notch on his belt for the huge win of a choice, as well as to allow room to expand said belt. We went with the pre fixe menu, always my choice when it's an option - I love when half the thinking is removed from the occasion. Only $60 for a four course menu, and the serving sizes were perfect to borderline more than enough. Service was not just good, but passionate about the menu, the chefs, and the whole idea of the restaurant. A sincerely passionate server can truly make your dining experience. That said, even a terrible server would not have changed how incredibly these dishes were. Every choice was spectacular, but the stars were the scallops crudo, the mushroom enmoladas, and for dessert, both the churros and the coconut flan. Just insane flavors, textures, presentations, everything. Look, I know this sounds hyperbolic, but truly, it has been a while since I have been this thoroughly impressed with every aspect of a dining experience, especially without breaking the bank. I honestly can't think of a negative thing to say. Maybe that the main course was larger and more filling than expected, but too good to leave even a crumb, so we had to slightly overstuff ourselves. Also, everything was gluten free, and most surprisingly, dairy free. And they have vegetarian and vegan options for everything. We were really looking forward to our dinner yesterday. It was our anniversary and we noted that. Only table that was available was a counter seat.. No problem with that. We sat down. Well -- I tried to! I stepped on a half eaten chicken wing of sorts that was on the ground. I didn't pick it up because I didn't have anything to pick it up with - nor was it my job to. Throughout the entire night, not a single waiter or service worker picked up the wing. I didn't say anything. I was socked that no one paid enough attention to notice or keep the space clean! It was in the same spot as it was when we go there when we left. Clearly we started off on the wrong foot! Moving onto the ambiance. The main and outdoor portion of the restaurant looked beautiful. But then again, we were sat at the "only" and worse spot they had. AC blasting on our heads , by the back door and exit sign and facing the kitchen staff that were awkwardly looking at us while they put premade guacamole in bowls and tuna on the tostadas. The food was mediocre at best for the prices! The coconut "flatbread" was just 3 small pitas with a faint coconut flavor that came with a green sauce that belonged on a steak. Drinks were fine. The crudo was okay. Octopus was cold and burnt. We didn't stay for dessert because of how disappointed we were -- and it's safe to say that our anniversary dinner was nothing special. We are always excited to try new restaurants and leave amazing reviews , especially to places like Ezov, Canje, Bar Toti, etc.. but this was really underwhelming. Don't go here. Yucatán style cooking at Nomade is a definite must in Austin. The food is just so different. Presentation is simple yet not, quality is above normal and service is understated. The decor inspired by the type of food helps give the chill vibe and transport you to where your food is from. This is have to say is one of the best places I've dined in a long time. Just in a league of its own. In an area where a lot of locals hang out and off the beaten path, Nomade stands out for sure. From the outside world once you enter you are definitely transported. Just the coffee was amazing ! We were there at brunch. Serverd in a French press and with the most adorable mugs. Just classy . Our seats were in the covered yet open patio, I loved the all natural colors they used and the simplicity of it all. I had a glass of bubbly as well and again served in a glass unlike I've had before. Detail is for sure a thing here. To create somewhere different from the norm. The food. Not your typical brunch or Mexican fare. The menu is amazing and so much good food on it. I started with the scallop agua chile crudo. Fresh, light, clean and subtle notes of apple and the tostadas were whole and crunchy. Great starter to share. Then into the Huevos Montulenos , on a tortilla there's ham, peas, sunny side up egg, salsa ranchero and queso and plantain chips . Such an array of texture and flavors all combine to a slightly salty but fresh bowl. I loved this Kinda hash breakfast bowl. The side papas Fritas , potatoes essentially. With onions and peppers and poblanos and a creamy habanero sauce on the side . Wow. Again simple yet so much flavor and perfect with any brunch entree. My friends had the chorizo tacos which come on blue corn tortillas with scrambled eggs, avocado, cheese and the charred habanero salsa was nice and spicy! Again so fresh and really good quality ingredients. The Panuchos Benedict was another winning entree, crispy stuffed tortilla. Black beans , short rib , eggs and an amazing chipotle hollandaise. This was a heavier dish, but so good. Served with a little green salad. This was so different but kinda still comfort food like. Their dessert menu was another adventure into the unknown as we didn't know what many of the things listed were! We had to try two as they both once explained to us by our server, sounded so good we couldn't decide. The Mayan Ki'Xocolatl ...a chocolate tamale, made with masa, dulce de leche, strawberry and ice cream. Yes as amazing as it sounds! Chocolate wasn't too sweet, and the ice cream was so good. Pretty interesting the masa and chocolate. The churros! Served like over never had before, with chocolate and dulce, to dip into, it also had white chocolate hot chocolate, also used to dip the churros. By itself this was also a really good drink. Slightly cinnamony, but not too rich and made with oat milk, it was a fun way to present a dessert we all love. The churros themselves were absolutely divine! Crunchy, warm, and soft inside. Yes every bite was gone. This was hands down my favorite place I ate at in Austin. A step above everything else. This will be on my list to tell everyone who goes there. We loved Nômade!!!!!! Not only is it a very cool ambience/atmosphere, but delicious food and a big vegan menu!!!! They have a pretty great Sunday happy hour that we took advantage of. Margaritas are on the menu for $8 which is awesome at a place like this. We tried the hummus appetizer, a vegan tostada on the HH menu (listed as with pork but they can sub mushroom), and the charred champenero. The only one that we wouldn't order again was the hummus-very pretty but not much flavor. We were obsessed with the cochinita panucho (made vegan) and we ordered a second one. While the server didn't seem especially understanding of what vegan was, the menu made it easy :) hoping to come back soon!! read more

Super fun vibes at Nomade! Haven't been to anything like it in Austin. I enjoyed our experience here. Staff was attentive and friendly. Our food would and drinks would come out fast. We came for happy hour and had the margaritas, salsa trio, shrimp, and duck tacos, and pork tacos. You can't go wrong with $5 margaritas on happy hour - please keep this going, we love a great happy hour deal! The chips and salsa were good, tacos were great, shrimp was sub par. The waygu tacos off happy hour were great as well. My biggest complaint was the pork belly - it was recommended by our server and it was almost inedible that's how gross it was. It was all fat and the flavors were not hitting the spot. If you look at the imagine of it, it doesn't even look appetizing- it looks like something but dog ate in the garden and puked up later that day with greens sprinkled on top. Other than the disappointment with the Pork Belly - which was also ridiculously expensive, everything else was great. Just don't order the pork belly. read more

The inside seemed dim and not much atmosphere, and it was very small so we opted for outside. This is not an everyday restaurant. It's expensive and the portions are kind of small. Delicious and I will return, but just a heads up. The crudo is some of the best I have ever had. The drinks are unique and tasty, but again, small. I love the small plates vibe. This place has ambience to spare. It really feels like one of those cool authentic places you might find on Oaxaca or Tulum. The food has been excellent each time I've been. The jaiba frita I could eat for every meal. The drinks are really well worth the money and they have an excellent and lengthy selection of mezcals.
