Usually don't write reviews but I had to after coming here. The food is good and came out at a good pace but it's overwhelmed by the lack of care from the front of house. You have servers who care more about messing around behind the bar and replacing records than actually taking care of the people eating there. We ended up having to hail down someone to let us pay since no one cared enough to check on us. Went here on a Thursday night and with a party of 6 girls and were nicely accommodated. Christian was our waiter and he was amazing! I rarely ever write reviews but I had to with this place. I just went here with my boyfriend and the service is terrible. There are 6+ people working behind the bar and we were waiting for 20 minutes for someone to notice us so we could get the check. Everyone just stared at me and then walked right past me. The workers made me feel like I was intruding and not welcome. Food isn't bad but isn't anything special. I hope this place can improve later on, but everything about this experience was terrible. Very nice ambiance, slow service- food comes out in no particular order. Everything tastes like it needs more salt. Honestly most things tasted like nothing. Croquetas taste like the meat was cooked with low sodium taco seasoning packet and then deep fried. Sad to say these were probably the worst croquetas I have ever eaten. All cocktails are wine based. Wanted to try Nomade for a while. The space was full with almost all the tables taken. Luckily we had a reservation. We were quickly seated at one of the dining tables. The space has a good look with retro style wooden cieling and that type of vintage listening room vibe their going for. We quickly noticed that we couldn't hear each other due to the music and the speaker being right above our heads. Hopefully they can tweak the acoustics or sound because they do have a hi-fi quality sound system. Also great music selection.Everyone was speaking at a louder volume. We asked for a bar spot and the server told me we can get one when it becomes available. One thing to note...it is a wine bar so no hard liquor cocktails. That being said they do have a great cocktail and wine list. To eat we were told that alot of items were not available due to them running out. Not sure if it was the time of year but nearly half the menu was not available. We did order the Matrimonio bread which was very tasty with the anchovies, the shrimp skewers which were fine, and the heirloom carpaccio which was a spin on caprese salad. Once we sat at the bar we were able to get the full experience. A highlight was the estrella dam beer which was recommended by one of the staff. Overall service was great, attentive, and friendly. Everything other reviewers have said is true. Good service, good food and yummy drinks. The ambiance for a Sunday afternoon was nice with the vinyl record playing. We had tapas of shrimp skewers, croquetas, and camembert. These items were quite good. We shared the tapas between the four of us. We just wanted small bites after a day at Balboa Park. My husband and I had the nonalcoholic ginger fix which was good as well. My daughter had the Revera spicy. The drink had cucumber, lemon and jalepeno. On the drive home she started feeling sick. Upon arriving home, she vomited and had diarrhea. It's been 2 days and the diarrhea continues. I'm preparing to take her to urgent care this morning. I don't know if anybody has had this experience. This place just opened and all the prior reviews so far have been great. I'm sad to have to say all this. But there were no other possible causes for my daughter's illness. All signs point to food poisoning, except she still has diarrhea. This has left me feeling sad, disappointed and ever wary. It was all good except for my adult daughter getting sick. read more

This place is amazing! I tried the breakfast sandwich and latte and both were delicious. Although a little on the pricey side the ambiance and service make the food worth it. The staff were very nice and will sometimes dance around to the record music that they play. Overall Nomade was an amazing experience and I will definitely be back again. read more

My roommate and I were so excited when we saw Nomade finally opened, and it does not disappoint! Drinks were refreshing but still kicked a light buzz, food was DELECTABLE. More than hats off to the chef I need to kiss the chef. I forgot to take a picture of the potato dish my roommate ordered but that was delicious too. Interior was a cool vibe but definitely small and packed, luckily we beat the wait by arriving around 7pm on a Friday. I suspect longer waits will arise with the more people finding out about this place but that's okay because it's well deserved!! My only teeny tiny complaint is my water wasn't refilled during my stay, but I'll give a pass since it was so busy. Service was kind and friendly despite the water. Will definitely be back to try other food items and drinks! read more

I found this restaurant online saying it's a good place to work and study so I'm so excited as it is down the street from my place. At first the server hands me a menu and I told her I'll think about it. I really was not trying to order anything as I wanted to simply check out the place to study. She kept coming back to me to ask if I want to order anything and I said I'm good. Then another server comes to refill my water after I finished it and asked if I wanted to get anything. I said "no, i'm just here to study, I didn't know it's a requirement to buy something." She said well it's a restaurant, it's a business so you have to order something. I never left a place so quick as the server made me feel bad for being there. I understand that I went to a cafe, but they should not keep asking or make you feel obligated to buy anything especially seeing you work on your laptop. Also, train your servers about HOSPITALITY. Teach them to talk nicely instead of being condescending about it. The first server was blonde with an accent and was nice to me, but the second server who I thought was rude was a blonde server without an accent working on Monday, September 8. So my friend recommended this place so I thought I would try it out. It is a real cool place with a great vibe. It is a restaurant and a record store. They were playing Bob Marley when I arrived. Jammin!! ! I ordered a Peroni beer. They have a great list of beers and wines. The restaurant is extremely clean and the restrooms are immaculate. I ordered the chile Poblano soup, Tortilla Española, olives, Steak Frites, smash burger, yellowtail crudo,tomato carpaccio, pajaritos and cucumber salad. The soup was exceptional, perfectly tart and full of flavors. The owners Jimena and Juan Carlos are young and personable from Mexico. The olives were yummy. I'm a tortilla Español snob because I've been told I make the best so when I tried the one here at the restaurant, I was not impressed. It was OK. The yellowtail crudo was exceptional. Citric and fresh and yummy. I would add a bit more of avocado. The smash burger was over cooked and dry. The steak was cooked perfect. The fries a bit too crispy. The cucumber salad with feta cheese was good but a bit too soggy. The shrimp skewer were tasty but also a bit too dry. The pajarito is an attempt to make a tapa from San Sebastián Spain made of green peppers, olives and anchovies. It was good. The tomato carpaccio was perfect. The patatas bravados were oily and just ok. The clam pasta was ok. I will be back to try the other things on the menu. Its a new restaurant that is not there with 5 stars yet but that should improve as time goes by. read more

The two workers that were there this morning were very kind. I don't really understand the negative reviews about service. Yes it's more relaxed and chill, but that's what you should expect from a Spanish restaurant?
