The service and food was excellent. I ordered the fried calamari. It was really good, tasted fresh, and is something I'll order again. My friend ordered the escarole and beans which came out in a red based sauce, a way I have never eaten that soup, stated it was really good. My other friend ordered the buffalo chicken salad and came out just the way she wanted. We also ordered a pasta fagioli to go. They also can get you in and out in an hour for lunch. I heard a good deal about this place so I finally decided to try it. Compared to all of the other Italian food in the area, I think that Nonna's actually tops the list, and would be my #1 choice. I had a Caprese appetizer, and a chicken Francese for the main course. For the first time, I think I had not one single thing to complain about, except that the seats were very close together, and the tables were a bit small. The service, however, was excellent, very attentive, and receptive. I have eaten at many Italian restaurants all over the east coast, and I think that to say that Nonna's is simply good would be an understatement. Their pizza is exactly what pizza should be plus a little bit more. I highly reccomend it. The most surprising thing, perhaps, is that the service and the quality of food here are consistent. This seems to be the place that Italians come for good Italian food... so that's the perfect sign! This was a favorite of ours for awhile, but then somehow forgotten... until we went for a birthday this week. We had a large group with two toddlers and two babies, and because of snow people showed up at different times. Our waiter didn't even flinch. He was very attentive and considerate! I split an extra cheese, garlic and spinach pizza and it was heavenly! Love the garlic knots! We had assorted apps of meatballs, mozz sticks, and buffalo calamari. This place is awesome!!! The food was delicious, but the service is what really impressed us. When we walked in at 2 PM today (on a Sunday) we were admiring the buffalo chicken pizza they were just pulling out of the oven. I asked about another type of pizza that I saw a little sign for and although he didn't have it made yet he offered to make one for us. It was only then that we realized that they didn't even actually open until 4 PM. They had a private party and so they had the doors unlocked for them. They served us with smiles and great attitudes. Every single person working there was friendly, helpful and accommodating in spite of the fact that they weren't even technically open. How often do you get that?! I tell you, not often at all. So these guys and their stellar service really stood out to us. We each had a slice of the buffalo chicken pizza and the white pizza which they put fresh tomatoes and basil on top of at out request. We also had a slice of the grandma pizza. Everything was delicious!!! The ricotta on the white pizza was so creamy and perfect. The basil was so fresh and served as large leaves. Some of the best Italian around. I used to live in the area and went quite often, then I was in town and went again. The prices are pretty good but above all, the food is great. I ended up getting a pie and enjoyed it so much, that when I got home and finished my leftovers, I wanted to head back again just the next day. This place is consistently good but it does have one draw back. They serve great food at a reasonable price and everyone knows it. They don't take reservations and the girl that seats you is a ditz. I find it a typical pizzeria/trattoria but great location for a stop-off after shopping at Trader Joe's. Their signature pizza is thin, what I like about but a bit salty due to the powdered parmesan cheese. The kids wasn't crazy for the signature pizza but just like the regular cheesy regular pizza slices they offer. I find this place similar to Cafe Villa in Chatham but I find Nonna's service more prompt and personable and the ambience nicer (a great place for an affordable family meal). read more

very nice. been here several times and finally got a round to a review. Even if you go during a busy lunch period, they are properly staffed to handle the rush. Over the course of six visits over the last month including a catering order, highlights include: Penne Vodka (this is really tremendous), Chicken Saltimboca (killer prosciutto), Filet of Sole Francese (a nice piece of fish for north jersey), and pasta fagioli. My recent chicken roll had a chewy chicken otherwise we would be in the 5-rating area. Also great - chicken parm hot hero, buffalo chicken pizza and bbq chicken pizza. Delivery is fast!!! Several times it's felt like I hung up the phone only to hear the doorbell ring. Clearly that's a bit of an overstatement, but this place has so many delivery drivers it's insane. If you're eating in the dining room you just see a constant stream of drivers coming and going. Their selection is excellent and their food is delicious. It's very easy to find Italian food, but it's not so easy to find Italian food that makes you feel like you're eating from Grand-moms kitchen. The only negative thing I can say about this place is it's a little costly, but nothing ridiculous. Overall, if you're in the area and you want Italian, don't think twice. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday for dinner a few weeks ago. He loves this place and has been coming here for years. It's been on our list to go to together for a few months now. It's an Italian place in a strip mall, which really kind of tells you everything you need to know right there. Their pizza operation is right up front as soon as you walk in and the wine glasses are the short and stubby ones. It's a family, casual, Italian place. Every town has one and they're institutions because they're a reliable, sure thing. Your carnivore boyfriend can get his fill and the picky kids at the table next to you can get penne with marinara. Everyone in North Jersey knows that strip mall Italian/Pizza joints are a dime a dozen but there is a reason Nonna's is always packed. Food is for the most part quite good. The "Grandma Pie" is great : The sauce is incredible ! Pastas and other dinner type ideas range from servicable to incredible. Service is always very friendly and accomodating even though the place is usually overflowing with customers. One tiny gripe : The dining room is big and always busy but the bathrooms are the "One at a time, lock the door behind you" variety. As I said before - there is a reason this place is always packed. The menu may not stray too far from similar places but the quality is there and the service , no matter how busy, is friendly and aims to please. read more

I really love the food here. They do a great job with subs and pizzas. My office used to order catering from here all the time (office moved so not so much any morè). The restaurant is always packed at lunch and dinner ( I really hate the parking lot!). The thing that I love the most is the eggplant parmasean! A Find. When you enter this restaurant, you're greeted by typical pizza ovens behind a counter at the front of the store & a large space with lots of spaced tables leading to the false impression that this is just another local Italian eatery. Nonna's pizza is a great place for the family and has great service. I have been there multiple times, with many people, and I find the the service is always very good. They are usually pretty crowded which is good but can be annoying at times. I would say if there is any downside to this place that would be it. All the staff are very nice and helpful. Once you are seated you are greeted with some bread with tomatoes on top and a sesame bread basket. Everything you order is very good but I wills suggest the Nonna Pizza special and ask for it well done (if you like crispy crust). The tomato sauce and cheese are great and there is plenty of flavor. Recently used them to cater a family gathering and I could not have been more impressed. Price was fair, service was prompt, food was fresh and tasty and the portions were huge. I came here for lunch with coworkers and was really happy with the food. I had a white bean escarole soup and a grilled chicken pesto panini. The portions were huge and both were absolutely delicious. I had enough soup for two, and brought half of it home with me for leftovers. I will say that this place is PACKED during lunch, and if you're in a hurry you're better off trying somewhere else or going before/after the lunch rush. The place clears out by 1:30 for the lunch rush--but prior to that the line is right out the door. The only thing I would really ding them on was that when I went during the lunch rush, there wasn't a designated hostess. As a result, the seating was chaotic and somewhat stress inducing because it was as the waiters were rushing between tables and grabbing people. The waiters were also trying to bus the tables in the midst of serving and seating, so not sure if they're short staffed currently but it was definitely a hindrance to their speed of service... Nonetheless, the food was fantastic and I think it outweighs the negatives of the wait and disorganized waiting. read more

Brand new upscale Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant. Great service with lots of staff ready to take your order. I had Pepperoni Pizza to go and it was by far the best Pizza I've had since I moved to New Jersey. They also have a full Italian menu. This will be my new favorite pizza place. I have no idea what the other reviewers were thinking with their reviews. It's a Tuesday night around 7 pm , every table was taken. We ordered mozzarella sticks that came out about 30 seconds from being burned. I got an Italian combo that had literally had one slice of ham, one slice of salami and a slice of cheese with a cup of onions and tomatoes. This place should be embarrassed to send out something as a simple as an Italian combo like that. The bathroom has urine all over the floor by the toilet and graffiti writing on the wall behind the door. read more

Living in town this strip mall is always tough to even get a parking spot on a weeknight. We decided to attempt and see if we would be lucky to get in without an extremely long wait. We walked in about 6:15 on a Friday and got a table immediately. I was shocked. To start they bring out bruschetta which was awesome and some bread that I could have without. For my meal I decided to try from other reviews the Chicken Parm. It was very good, sauce wasn't my favorite, but I did like the meal came with a salad. We also decided to get two appetizers which was the calamari which to be honest didn't seem fresh, and was just frozen from a box. We also decided to get the Stuffed Artichoke which did take some time to cook but was very good. The other people in my group decided on the ribeye which was a special but was a little tough steak and the meat lasagna which again sauce wasn't my favorite, but was still good. Overall good meal, this place also does plenty of take-out and delivery. Pizza is pretty consistent and so was the dinner. Nothing great, but no major negatives.Just expect to wait for a table and good luck finding a parking spot. read more

I have had several dishes here from different pastas and different salads and I am never disappointed. Everything is always so fresh and delish. Great, casual Italian restaurant. Great spot and usually always packed. Never really had a bad meal from here, but the two standouts to me and my family are the nonna pies and their penne vodka. We pass by Nonna's many times every week during our normal weekly work commute, but we've never stopped in for food. Nonna's was recommended to us, but we never made the connection of how close or convenient this restaurant is. A few points on reasons for my rating below. Note that we stopped in on Mother's Day at 4:45PM without a reservation. But we weren't allowed to make a reservation because it was a party of 2. This likely plays a huge part in the rating. I'll update if we decide to ever return. Note that we were a party of 2. We ordered a ton of food to try - possibly enough for party of 6. - 1hr and 15minute wait for a table of 2 when arriving at 4:45PM. - Buffalo wings appetizer was fried and very salty. After about 2 wings, we could not eat anymore because it was so salty. - Included salad because we ordered an entree. The salad was just average. - Ordered 2 pizza pies - Meat Lover's specialty and cheese pizza in personal pizza size. Both were Great. Their pizza is certainly a highlight for the restaurant. - Ordered 2 entrees - lasagna and fettuccine alfredo pasta. Both were not good. Lasagna tasted as if it was left out for a period of time before it was brought to table and the fettuccine alfredo was completely bland. The average review is because though their pizza is good, but considering the location, there are several other locations that are pretty good or better. I wouldn't go out of my way to Nonna's just for pizza. Their entrees were not good and their wait staff did not recommend anything better. We also noticed that one of their managers was going table to table to ask how their food was.... unfortunately, she didn't not stop by ours to ask even though she passed by our table several times. The experience was below average. We may return to see how it is when it isn't a holiday weekend, but certainly nothing to stop by for unless in the area. read more

Pizza is good, food (dinners) are great. Delivery is timely and still got when it arrives. A frequent go to for a hungry family of 5.

I have ordered from Nonna's about 10 times over the last several months. The first 8 times were great-- delicious pizza delivered quickly. The last two times, however, were bad experiences. In both cases, I was told the pizza would take an hour. It took 1:15 and 1:30 to get to my house, and the pizza was very over cooked (almost burned) in both cases. I won't be ordering here again. UPDATE: the manager emailed me and asked me to give Nonna's another chance. Without letting them know I would be calling, I tried it again. Much better this time! I'm upgrading my review to 3 stars and may upgrade further. FURTHER UPDATE -- had a poker party and ordered several pizzas. Prompt delivery and excellent pizza. Back to the four-star pizza I first enjoyed. read more

3.5 stars really since I haven't tried any of their dishes just the pizza. In regards to the pizza I must say it is absolutely fantastic authentic New York city style pizza bar none!!! In that division they get 4.8 stars. Having eaten pizza all over the world I can tell you there is nothing like the pizza from Northeast USA especially New York ,New Jersey ,Connecticut and even Pennsylvania. The aspect ratios of crust, sauce and cheese are perfect. That quintessential orange colored grease that drips off the slice indicates a good amalgamation of sauce and cheese. Let's hope the pasta, antipasto and other dishes are just as good. read more

Their arugula salad is amazing. Been coming here for at least 7 years because no one makes a better salad. Their lemon vinaigrette is amazing as well. It can be a bit busy in there at times, so call orders in whenever you can. Worth the wait regardless though. read more
