I like nono pinos too but years ago it used to be better I don't know if they changed hands at some point or not but I've eaten there I think twice maybe three times in the last couple of years and the food I had was very good and they have a great happy hour special with like five different and yummy small plates that are really inexpensive. They have the nice windows that open up so you can sit at a window table if you like and there's one available. One thing I do have to say about them though is they have the best flourless chocolate cake I think I've ever had. So save room for dessert. I ate at the bar so the service was a little slow but I guess that's to be expected even though there were only three of us at the bar. I guess they make the drinks for the whole restaurant though and there's a back end to it but I don't think I've ever eaten in that part and I don't know how big it is back there so that might be why the bar is slow. read more

I have been to Nono Pino's several times before the craziness of 2020, but honestly I have been getting food from here more lately for a few reasons. First and foremost we are really trying to support all of the local restaurants that we can do they can make it through this difficult time, and I can't stress the importance of that enough. Secondly the food is always great no matter what we order. They really got us too when they offered a special deal for Easter brunch this year that's what put it over the top! The amount and quality of the food we got for $50 was amazing. The brunch had eggs, potatoes, pasta, chicken, salad, and more, and all of it was delicious. They have been doing similar deals for dinner too , and it's always impressively tasty. I mean when food is delivered it can lose something, but we'll keep ordering as long as this is going on until we go back and sit down to eat and we will be first in line. read more

Their recent free delivery and other incentives that allow us to easily enjoy their food while keeping us safe have been above and beyond. We just ordered two orders of their special for tonight (surf n turf) with arancini for an appetizer and a chocolate mousse cake for dessert and everything was incredible! The portions were plenty for us to share with our son and still have leftovers. All of the dressings, butters and oils were individually packaged very well and nothing spilled or got cold before we got home. My husband is very picky and typically complains when I try to order out from new places but after tonight's dinner, he asked if Nonno Pino's has any specials running and we will be ordering their special Dinner for 5 for $50 this Wednesday night when both of us have to work late and neither of us want to cook. I went here for the second time tonight with the boyfriend. I just felt like drinking and didn't really want the loud bar scene of The Snuggery. Ladies, the Pomegranate Martini (with a sugar rim) is a must. The bf also liked his Manhattan. We got the Pino Puffs with our drinks. So soft, warm, and delicious. They're definitely our favorite appetizer here. This is a really nice, casual spot. Staff is very friendly. We sat at the bar both times we've been here and the bartender/server has always been pleasant. The first time we came here was for dinner and we ordered a pizza. The food was mediocre. I think Olive Garden is better...low key...I ordered the Pistachio Crusted Chicken, Asiago Crusted Chicken and the Stuffed shrimp. The shrimp was totally over cooked. I just had another great dinner at Nonno Pino's! It's my "go to" place in Edison Park when I make a day trip on Metra. Even though it was very busy due to Valentine's Day, the service was very efficient. Watching the staff was like watching a well choreographed ballet. I arrived just before 8:00PM, had time to enjoy a very nice dinner (lasagne), and still made my train at 8:55PM! My only disappointment was that I didn't have enough time to properly enjoy a dessert. The server was very knowledgeable and did a great job of describing the specials and answering questions about how some items were prepared. If I could give less than one star I would, came to eat dinner here, at a spot I used to enjoy and have frequented for many years. , my girlfriend and I got the Ribeye steaks, and ordered a round of martinis as soon as food was brought to the table we were swarmed with flies, yes flies in mid November, they were all over our food it was disgusting. When I stopped the server to let her know she says "what do you want me to do, Do you want to move" I asked for a manager who came by 20 minutes later, and made us feel we were seeking something for free, I explained that I know things happen but just wanted him to know about the problem, the manager said I'll take off your martinis, to me that was not sufficient as the bugs were literally on our food. One of my favorite places in the neighborhood! I love the casual atmosphere and delicious food that pairs with it. Of course, I begin each visit with loads of warm bread that they bring out for the table. The side salads are always fresh and crisp and the garlic dressing is delicious. I've tried many of the appetizers but always seem to get the bruschetta or clams. One of my favorite cheat meals here is the asiago chicken pasta. Amazing. Had dinner there last night for my grandmothers birthday. Our party was myself, my husband grandmother and toddler. Very happy with the COVID practices in place. All the tables were spaced nicely but also felt like you weren't dining in the middle of an empty room. I was so disappointed with this place last night. We did a curbside pickup which was on time. I will give them that. But when I opened the to go bag, I saw 2 pieces of unwrapped bread thrown on top of the to go containers. Seriously? No saran wrap or paper of anything? Not to mention the bread was stale. Ughhh. They didn't include any olive oil or butter for the bread either. No utensils or napkins for us. Unreal. It's like someone just threw something together. I won't be coming back here. My new Italian Joint, first time there and definitely not the last. All the food was great can't wait to come back and try something different. Appetizers: Fried calamari was just perfectly lightly battered and very tender. Can't go wrong with that or the crab crakes. I have been looking for a good, solid Italian restaurant for a while now. Mom, Christopher and I decided to give this place a try the other night. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. The service was spot on, attentive but not intrusive. The decor was clean and classy. The prices weren't cheap, but we got a lot of food for the money. Christopher had the Bowtie pasta with sausage and peppers. It was seriously delicious. I had the fillets with garlic mashed taters and asparagus. It came with two good sized fillets, very tender and tasty. Mom had the salmon special that was served with an olive relish. The salmon was perfectly prepared and plentiful. She loved it. The entrees were served with family style salad. They provided an Italian dressing and a creamy garlic to choose from. Both were very very good. By the time we got done with our appetizer (their version of cheese puffs), salad and the bread accompanied by a delightful olive oil and Parmesan dip, we were filling up fast. The entrees were huge, so we all ended up bringing home leftovers. I can honestly report that everything reheated quite well, even my fillet. We will absolutely come back here again. I've had the pleasure of coming here for lunch on many occasions and I have never been disappointed. They have a good selection of appetizers, pastas and thin crust pizzas. So far I've been there a handful of times and I've liked every dish. Favorites include: Pino Puffs, Pistachio crusted chicken, Bowtie Arrosto and the Yo, Tony! sandwich I like the look of the place with its open and spacious bar dining room. I love going there in the warmer months when you can sit in the front area and they open up some big windows. My Edison Park friends have made this their Thursday night spot, so after a quick drink with an old friend last night I decided to meet them for a round. A round turned into several, and a fantastic time was had by me. Thursday night is $4 martini and $2 beer night ,and in these trying economic times a drink special is right up this trying-to-learn-the-art-of-frugality girl's alley. It's a nice place with brick walls and a very rustic atmosphere, although I was surprised to find it relatively empty on a Thursday evening, but maybe the cold was keeping people away. My girls who are regulars said it's not usually like that on Thursdays, which made me feel a lot better. I don't know why, but, places that are routinely empty make me go "hmmmm." In addition to the delicious $4 martinis we had a few apps, which were okay. Not great, not terrible, but okay. I wasn't hungry enough to venture into the rest of the menu, but one of the people at the table next to us had fish that looked and smelled wonderful. Add to the mix free valet parking and good service, and I do believe I've found a good Thursday night spot. read more

Snotty wait staff. I won't be back, especially with all the other options in the area. My husband, young daughter and I went there for an EARLY Friday night dinner. As in 5:45pm. The only other tables that were seated all had kids - many of then young. Our waitress, I feel like I shouldn't giver her name, took a solid 5+ minutes to approach our table all while other tables were being attended too. She was not friendly at all and was abrupt when we asked questions. She didn't come with a wine list nor did she know the specials. We took a minute to review the menu and many minutes later my husband saw her chatting with the bartender and then the hostesses. We felt completely ignored, in a not yet busy restaurant. Our food came, my husband like the baked rigatoni. I had the mushroom ravioli and thought there was NOTHING restaurant worthy about it - at all. I could have made it at home and saved myself $15. It was border-line tasty. The pasta was clearly not freshly made. As w were finishing up we saw a table of ladies being sat near us and noticed how our waitress's demeanor changed when talking to them. She clearly wanted nothing to do with us. I get it, we had a small child with us, but we were there SO early and we were out of there by 7pm. I honestly feel that we were discriminated against because of our child. Discriminate may be a strong word but that is how rude our waitress was. Like I said, we will not be back. With or without our child. UPDATE - the management contacted me and had a great customer service tone. Maybe the waitress had a off night but it still irks me. Nonno Pino's is a staple in Edison Park. I've always had great food when I go there. During Covid we ordered out numerous times and no matter if we ate in or out, the food is always amazing. My favorite salad is the Rustic salad - walnuts, cheese, pears and strawberries on greens with a hint of Balsamic with dressing on the side - so amazing! I just rediscovered this neighborhood gem last evening with some colleagues after a 8 year hiatus. I always remembered it being good but didn't often have a chance to be in the area. It's a rustic and warm place with exposed brick and interesting things on the walls. The service was delightful...knowledgeable and funny and she kept the pace of our food in sync with the energy at our large table of 7. She even recognized that we were celebrating and comped one of our desserts (without us telling her...nice touch). We ordered a few appetizers and a variety of pasta and meat dishes for entrees. I'm told the filet and roasted pork special were fabulous and my pasta dish, Bowtie Arrosto was outstanding! The sauce was very similar to what I make at home and I've never had a commercial establishment even come close and Nonno Pino did! We had several bottles of wine and I appreciated the size of the selection and affordability of everything on the list. We also enjoyed a gelato, chocolate cake and cannoli for dessert and we cleaned our plates! There are many great dining options on this stretch of Northwest Highway but in my opinion you won't find a better, more reasonably priced meal with the surroundings to match anywhere else. read more

WOW. Went here with my in-laws because they were staying at a hotel near O'Hare. It was super busy because it was a Saturday night, but we were still seated fast, and it didn't seem to affect the service, which was great. We started out with the Pino Puffs....SOOO yummy...fried, but still really light, with shredded zucchini and cheese in sort of a fritter form. We also got the baked goat cheese to start and that was also really tasty. My husband loved his gnocchi beciamella, and my mother-in-law had the penne tri-colore, which she also really enjoyed. My father-in-law got the pistachio crusted chicken and I got the asiago crusted chicken. Both were absolutely delicious, and perfectly cooked. I always have room for dessert....especially when it's Tiramisu, and I'm glad I did, because it was amazing. Nonno Pino's is truly one of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago, and anywhere for that matter. Their signature Pino Puff appetizers, which consist of shredded zucchini with 3 cheeses formed into a light puffy ball are the best way to start your evening. If you're looking for pastas, the Bowtie Arrosto ( crumbled sausage, peppers, ricotta cheese, and marinara ), the Penne Pancetta ( Italian bacon, oven roasted tomatoes, onions, fresh mozzarella, and oil and garlic ), the Penne with besciamella sauce, and the Bowtie Chicken ( with spinach, oven roasted tomatoes, and sun-dried tomato cream sauce ) are all winners. Their Italian sausage is very chargrilled, and is some of the best Italian sausage around. Great bar for drinks before dinner, too. Very good, and very authentic Italian pasta dishes. The best. As far as Entrees are concerned, the Chicken Vesuvio, Chicken With Mushrooms ( Chicken Marsala ), and the Pistachio Crusted Chicken are all truly outstanding. The Pistachio Crusted Chicken is one of their most popular dishes, and for good reason- it's the best dish on a menu already full of great, authentic choices. The chicken breast is lightly breaded in pistachios and served with a roasted pepper cream sauce, with both grilled polenta and grilled asparagus. It is truly unique to Nonno Pino's, and it's the best chicken dish I've ever had in any style or ethnic version of chicken anywhere. And you can never go wrong with their Grilled Filet, which comes with gorgonzola cheese, a chianti demi-glaze with mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus. Finally, for dessert, Nonno Pino's Tiramisu is excellent. I've never really liked Tiramisu, but Nonno Pino's is the lone exception. It's light and airy/fluffy, and it's perfectly sweet. And their cannolis are the best in Chicago, and are often served with strawberries. However, their cannolis don't have the pistachios that are commonly found everywhere else, nor do they have the chocolate chips in the filling. Instead, the chef puts a slight drizzle of chocolate over the entire cannoli, which allows the natural flavor of the homemade cannoli filling to really shine through, without the distractions of the chocolate chips and the pistachios that everyone else uses to make up for average cannoli filling at other restaurants. Nonno Pino's is also a great place to have bridal showers, baby showers, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, baptisms, and any other private party you're looking to have. The owners are ALWAYS there, and they will most definitely accomodate whatever needs you have. Both of the owners come from excellent local Italian food backgrounds ( i.e. Elmwood Park ), and both their service and attention to detail are on full display on any given night at Nonno Pino's.
