We love Nonno Pino's! We wandered into Nonno Pino's for dinner on a Friday evening. We had no reso and wanted to sit near the windows. We were not happy at all with the slow service. It took 10-15 minutes before a server showed up (She was also working the bar) When we finally were able to get a drink and order food, we were very happy with the quality of food. Delightful! Anniversary dinner was really nice. Totally warm and attentive Meg represented NP's so graciously I asked her if she owned it. Started off with their signature Pino Puffs, shredded zucchini with 3 cheeses formed in a light puffy ball, a really nice appetizer. Main courses included the seared Salmon special with garlic mashed and the sausage and red pepper pasta which I ordered over angel hair with a ricotta & marinara sauce. Both really made us happy. Monday is half price wine bottles which we chose a Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio and took some home. A slice of cheesecake shared finished our visit. read more

This is one of my FAVORITE Italian restaurants! The meat sauce they have here is to die for, and I love both their bow tie and angel hair noodles. It's so nice because I love spaghetti, but they have tons of options of noodles and sauces that you can choose from. You can choose spaghetti, penne, bow ties, angel hair, linguini, or angel hair. For a dollar or two extra, you can choose whole wheat noodles, gnocchi, or gluten free. The sauces you can choose from include marinara, besciamella, alfredo, garlic and oil, ricotta and marinara, or meat sauce. They do have a bunch of other dishes on their menu, but with all of the different noodles and sauces to choose from, I feel that anyone can find something they enjoy! Prices are totally doable for how much food you get per serving, and the make your own pasta dishes start at $12 for a huge bowl. My mom LOVES the stuffed eggplant rolls and always gets those, which are under the appetizers section of the menu. The atmosphere and decor is super relaxing and pretty classy. The place is pretty dim and they have white table cloths on each table, and you use the cloth, reusable napkins. This place gets very busy in the evening, because it's only open for a few hours every day for dinner, and it's a pretty small place. I personally wish they were open for lunch, too. My sister's wedding shower was held here, and they are very accommodating and great for private events. It is also perfect size for a smaller group of people. The owner is always there and is extremely friendly, and I have never had a problem with any of their service or waitresses. Even the guy who does valet on Saturday nights is so friendly and helpful. I was here with a Seniors group for lunch before seeing a show. The restaurant opened early to accommodate us. For that reason I'm withholding any comments on service and noise level. Our experience may not have been typical. But lest I give the wrong impression, let me say we were treated superbly! I can comment on the food though. We were served a five course meal from bread to salad, to pasta, to entree to dessert. Each and every course was outstanding! I have eaten at a lot of Italian restaurants. None has ever served a better meal. I had a baked tilapia that was finished with artichoke and asparagus tips with a side of potatoes that were very much like Vesuvio though a bit different. Others in the group had a chicken entree that was served in exactly the same style. Next time I'm in Edison Park I plan to visit again. read more

My brother returned to Chicago for the holidays and where did they want to go 1st? Nonno Pino's! They graciously gave us a large table in the back, did not rush us through ordering and our group probably tried a good 40-50% of the menu with emphasis on the specials (which are written on the chalk boards). This is my favorite restaurant. The service and food are always great. I particularly like the pistachio chicken. The deserts are also very good and you cannot beat the prices. I highly recommend. Nonno Pino's is my go to place for a casual Italian dinner in Edison Park. The place has an inviting vibe and a very attentive wait staff. They can accommodate small or large groups and can work with you when hosting a party. The free valet parking is a plus, especially on busy weekend nights. There is a small bar area, but this is more of a restaurant. The food at Nonno Pinos is the real standout. Prices are all very reasonable and portions are huge. Pino Puffs are the best appetizer - little fried dough balls with cheese. The penne with pancetta is amazing - this is always a highlight. The other pasta dishes are good, but have been too heavy in my experience. The chicken dishes are all huge portions and cooked perfectly. Kids meals are always a hit and keep the little ones happy. I highly recommend Nonno Pinos if you are looking for great Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere. read more

Ate dinner here with a friend on a Friday night. We made a reservation, but didn't need one. Our waitress was very unfriendly and seemed to be annoyed by us throughout our time dining. Once our food came, we didn't see anyone until a man came and asked if we wanted our food boxed. We were never asked how our food was and as soon as the waitress saw our food boxed, she brought the check. We had had a few beers which were empty, and were not asked if we wanted another round. While the food was good, the service was terrible and we ended up taking our business elsewhere for the rest of the night. read more

To me, this is one of the best places to eat in Edison Park. The Pinot puffs are an absolute must. I can't really describe them other than to say I think they're made out of zucchini but I know they are very worth it. Every single time I order them and a guest tries them they are in love. Otherwise, this place is fantastic! I recommend a marinara sauce over any of the other sauces. I know it sounds boring to recommend but it's really that good. It also has really nice romantic atmosphere if you're going on a date but even more important, it is 100% comfortable if you are single and looking for just a nice Italian dinner at the bar. Had great dinner! My friend ordered a cesar salad and mushroom ravioli and it tasted great. I ordered a beat salad and the asiago chicken. I've had it there before and it's always good but last night it was excellent. We had Arancini for an appetizer and it was just OK, but our meals were excellent. Giving 5 stars because I can't give 6. I was here last year for my sister-in-law's wedding and remember saying "These are the best meatballs I've had in my entire life." Fast forward to today one year later- My sister-in-law and her husband went back to Nonno Pino's for their one-year anniversary. I called and spoke to a woman named Heidi about bringing a bottle of wine to their table as a gift when they sat down for dinner. Heidi sent me a wine list and had everything arranged. We asked if they wouldn't mind writing a short note wishing them well, and Nonno's went the extra mile with a handmade decorative card to help make it even more special. We came to Nonno Pino's during Restaurant Week 2018. We were SO excited. We were seated immediately, though the room looked very busy. I wasn't too impressed with the service, our glasses were refilled once the entire time we were there and our server came by our table a total of 3 times: to take our order, check in, and give us the final check. Not sure if this is standard but there was a point we would have ordered wine, but since she never came before/as the food arrived we really didn't get a chance to! As for the food itself, it was just okay. I ordered bruschetta for my appetizer and it was stone cold. My husband ordered mussels in a sauce and it was delicious. For main course we ordered a Cod which was delicious but in a very sweet sauce and pork that was cooked to PERFECTION. As for dessert, it was underwhelming if not insulting. I ordered tiramisu which had no lady fingers or coffee flavoring of any kind - just sweet on sweet. My husband ordered caramel pudding which was just a tiny Dutch baby. Not sure what that was about. Overall - okay at best. I imagined that for restaurant week the restaurant would try to showcase it's best effort, but really it felt like they were just cutting corners to fill the place. read more

Best chicken vesuvio I've had in a very long time. Took me back to my childhood days.

I like nono pinos too but years ago it used to be better I don't know if they changed hands at some point or not but I've eaten there I think twice maybe three times in the last couple of years and the food I had was very good and they have a great happy hour special with like five different and yummy small plates that are really inexpensive. They have the nice windows that open up so you can sit at a window table if you like and there's one available. One thing I do have to say about them though is they have the best flourless chocolate cake I think I've ever had. So save room for dessert. I ate at the bar so the service was a little slow but I guess that's to be expected even though there were only three of us at the bar. I guess they make the drinks for the whole restaurant though and there's a back end to it but I don't think I've ever eaten in that part and I don't know how big it is back there so that might be why the bar is slow. read more

Nonno Pino always amazes me. They stayed open late on a Sunday to accommodate me and other guests. They're asiago chicken is always phenomenal. I'm not a salad guy, but their creamy garlic was excellent. Great recommendations on their red wine. And they carry a high level of alcohol, including gin. read more

Mother's Day Buffet I've eaten here where you order food to the table and I couldn't say anything negative it was very good. However Mother's Day buffet ( where I invited family from out of state ) and I have to say we were disappointed there was no steam tables, no steam /sneeze hoods to keep warm and avoid germs, the buffet table was set up in front of the entry/exit doors. Food was cold, meat especially cold and chewy, with only a butter knife to cut the prime rib. I felt that the salmon was under cooked/watery. read more
