Very interesting spot. I'm really starting to enjoy taking on these spots that are out of my norm, such as this spot. I usually go for the typical pho or Shabu Shabu spot down the street from my place but decided to switch it up again today. The reviews were pretty mixed here but I have to say if you're looking for some noodle soup, this is the place for it. We started out with the popcorn chicken. We got the non spicy one although it still tasted spicy. Not a problem, I enjoyed the little kick. So if you're not into spicy, just a heads up. We tried the #9 and #11. The clear broth bowl reminded me very much of pho and the other had with the tomato paste I believe, had a special kick to it. Not spicy, but tangy in a good way though. These noodles were unlike any I've ever tried. The rice noodles were soft and dense where you think they're over cooked when in fact that's how they're supposed to be. Very filling! The bowls are huge! So you'll definitely have some to take home. Only thing about this place that sticks out is that no one comes around to see if you need anything else or if you want the check. I love this place. They're soup isn't heavy, but it's very flavorful. Plus, the spicy oil is on point. I had the Chengdu Braised Beef Briskset. First off, their beef broth is amazing. It's clear, but somehow tastes like marinated beef with a touch of nutty flavor. The beef pieces were tender and flavorful. Like the soup, but cranked up to 11 with spicy oil. Food was misleading, we ordered the number 2 minced pork noodles because we expected there to be soup as shown on the online menu. When we got the food, it ended up being a dry noodle soup and instead of the boiled egg we got fried eggs. No condiments are given as well, I'm guessing they charge extra for those. My partner and I are such big fans of this noodle shop in Irvine. Highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a comforting bowl of piping hot soup and perfectly chewing noodles. For appetizers, we ordered the wood ear (aka cold black fungus) in a slight numbing chili and soy sauce. The cold appetizer was a solid choice since it cooled down our palette in between each bite of our hot soup dishes. My partner got the dry noodles with minced pork and it had such a rich flavor from the chili oil sauce (give it a good mix) with a hit of acidity from the pickled vegetables. My Huaxi beef rice noodle had a numbing broth, but it was way lighter in the numb department compared to what I had the night before at Mian at South Coast Plaza (tldr: so numbing to the point it was inedible and will lead to brutal heartburn). The pieces of beef for both the dry and noodle soup dish were so tender and had a great mouthfeel. Although this is not included in the below picture, we also ordered the Chengdu spicy dumplings and this was the absolute highlight of the meal. I'm impressed with how thin the dumpling wrapping was in the midst of holding a large amount of filling. Overall, the meal was not heavy from an oil perspective and it was actually quite light with the balance of the cold appetizer and the hot dishes. They separated the noodles from the soup. I ordered the chicken mushroom noodle soup it was about $12. Honestly I'm my opinion, very simple and can be replicated at home. But the soup was subtle but on the saltier side so I had to add more water. Wish there was more meat and actual mushrooms. No-nonsense-Chinese-noodles place ftw. I'm not sure I would have made it here by myself because the staff speak limited English. I loved how I gave them blank stares when they spoke to me in Chinese, ..but they wouldn't switch over to English. Gotta love it. Ordering #9 was easy enough. Also finishing the noodles was easy enough, considering the bowl size (which is huge). There really is more broth than anything, but I wasn't a huge fan of that. It wasn't spicy at all and instead just had an oily taste to it. Hard to explain. Next time, I'll have to opt for one that actually has a pepper next to it. The other day, I was really craving authentic Asian noodle soup. Similar to the one my mom used to make when my siblings & I were kids. We got there & sat outside. They immediately brought us out water and told us to scan the bar code & mobile order. You checkout on their site too. I got the Cantonese noodle soup with no peanuts (not allergic, just don't like it as much lol). It was really good & very "clear" as my mom would say. Not too salty, didn't taste like they put MSG. It was flavorful though. We also got their spin on the classic Taiwanese beef noodle soup, it was also very good. The best part of this meal however was the steamed egg. Oh my god, packed with so much flavor. OOH, and it was smooth too. For dessert, the brown sugar rice cakes. It was okayyyy, I don't think I'd get it again tbh. Amazing traditional noodles. Unfortunately as of 6/23 they are not allowing you to dine in. So you can do take out or delivery. I ordered the braised beef noodle soup and boy was it tasty. I truly love the noodles. Our first visit was 9/4/22, we had tomato soup beef noodles and cantonese braised beef noodles. Beyond excellent, soup was savory, detailed. Meat was thinly sliced so it was extra tender. We couldn't finish the noodles because it was so hot in the restaurant. Be aware don't do take out because portion will be small Order wintermelon cooler from their neighbor Sunright tea studio before you eat here then when you get to the car you have the drink to cool you down. Their air conditioning is so weak it's almost non existant. I don't know how others can drink the soup in that temperature. Good place with lots of noodle options. The menu is heavy on beef, so if you're not into red meat I wouldn't recommend this place. My party ordered the cold noodle, onion pancake, and I got the braised knife cut noodle. My dish was numbing spicy noodles. The knife cut noodles had wonderful texture and had enough chewiness to it. My friend had the beef noodle soup with knife cut noodles and he was a fan- his only complaint was that the beef slices were a little on the drier side. We ordered the: Egg noodles with beef and pickled veggies #4 and Chengdu braised beef with egg noodles #9. They sat our party of 4 outside with only 1 heat-lamp turned on and it was quite cold. They forgot about us, but luckily left a bottle of water or else we would have been dying from thirst like the party of 3 next to us. Overall, it was pretty good and the noodles resembled something similar to the soft udon noodles from Marugame. Super good!!! I've heard of this place here and there but finally got around to trying it. I came here with two Texans who are very not Asian, but they both loved it! It's definitely a good place for everyone, in my opinion. We ordered two things: #4 - Traditional beef noodles with Chinese pickle. I specifically requested no cilantro, but they gave me a soup with cilantro. When I brought this up to the waitress, she took the soup back to fix the mistake. I thought they would do kind of a best-effort removal of the cilantro, but I think they ended up remaking the entire dish. Either that, or they did a PHENOMENAL job removing them because I couldn't find a single trace of cilantro in the bowl she brought back. #6 - Beef noodles with green & red chili peppers. The two Texans shared this dish and they loved it. I think they were caught off guard with the spiciness, but they finished this it regardless and were very happy with their meal. Noodology is a solid place for some good soup that comes in ginormous portions. Parking lot is huge and the restaurant itself is a decent size with about 10 booths in it. You'll see a barcode once you sit at a table, and from there it will take you to the website where you can view the menu and order and pay from there. Because of this, we didn't really have to interact with any of the workers. I got the braised beef noodle soup, and it was HUGE. I definitely could've shared this with one or two more people. It comes in a bowl of about 8" inches in diameter. It had the tiniest kick to it and really hit the spot since it was cold that day. There were a lot of beef pieces in it and the pieces were really large and thick, but were cooked just right and weren't chewy. I got the rice noodles and they were okay, I'm just not a huge fan of thick noodles. Price is reasonable for how much food you are getting. Usually the wait here is 1 hour even though last time my yelp waitlist said max 30 minutes. I arrived right before the 30 minutes and still ended up waiting another 30 minutes. The time varies by day, but if you're looking for lunch, make sure you're on the waitlist before 12. [ Noods ] I usually get rice noodle, which is what you'll see in most of their pictures. It's quite unique since I normally don't see beef noodles with that type of noodle. Love it! #3 Chongqing beef noodle w/ pickled pepper -- if you're not sure what to order and you can handle a bit of spice, then I highly recommend choosing this one. The meat is super tender and the broth is flavorful but light. #6 Chengdu braised beef -- another recommendation if you want a thicker broth and less spice. These two noodles come with the same toppings and the only difference is the broth. I would go with either if you're not sure what to order! 3 item combo -- not sure why it was an option during one of my visit and not the other. If you don't see it, you could definitely ask for it. Noodology is always a solid choice when you're craving some noodle soup on a cold & rainy day. Their noodles are cooked to perfection and their broths are flavorful. I love spicy food, so I always go for the dishes with the sign next to it. They're not joking when they say that their noodle soup is spicy. By the time I'm done my sinuses are cleared, which is a plus if you ask me. The reason why I give it four stars instead of five is because of the service. I don't know if they are just understaffed, but I had to flag down my waiter every time I needed something and even when I had to order. I am very patient when it comes to servers, but this one just seemed to forget that we were even there. Cute little spot for a small group or couples date night. I came with my cousins on a Saturday night after stumbling upon it on yelp. The plaza has lots of parking spots so you shouldn't have any trouble with that. They have outdoor seating as well as limited indoor seating. The service was quick and there weren't any problems with our orders. The portion sizes are decent and you can order from their sides if you don't want anything too big. The beef noodles were flavorful and the wontons were delicious too; they don't add too much protein, so if you need more of that to be full, you can order more of the meats for an extra cost. Came here for dinner on a wed night. It was a really hot night 85 at 7pm so I wasn't expecting to wait for a table. Luckily we were only 3 back. We were seated quickly. They have split air Ac units in each of their dining rooms so you can enjoy the hot soup on a hot day. I ordered the number 6 beef rice noodle with pickled pepper, which the hottest dish on the menu. The dish comes in a overwhelming bowl of broth and noodles. Digging in the broth is nice and spicy with very rich flavor. The rice noodles practically melt in your mouth but do not tear when you pick them up. Perfect. Loads of bok Choi are in the dish. I did wish they did cut the stalks or leaves up but that I guess that for the sake of presentation and ease of making the dish. We also ordered the duck wings. They bring you plastic gloves to help eat them with, which is a nice touch. They come cold so be aware when ordering. Although there is not much meet on these they do provide a good portion size to make up for it. Service is quick and attentive, they have a buzzer on the table to call a server. SETTING: Spot is right across from IVC on Jeffrey road. Pretty easy to find and can view this place from the street. Inside is a bit crowded but can actually fit a good amount of people. They do have an outside area but it seems like it is only for waiting. SERVICE: Service was pretty good here. There was a bit of a language barrier but i expected that from a place like this. Staff was really nice and helpful in picking what I wanted to order. Food came out pretty quick as well. No complaints here. FOOD: The food was good but not great. Bowls were huge and filling. I am not a huge expert at this type of cuisine, but I did not find anything extra special with the plates. I would probably be back if friends want to come here again. Something to note is that this is definitely chinese style beef noodle, rather than Taiwanese style, which is what I'm more accustomed to. Also, most of their menu is beef noodles! The chicken was rubbery, hard and overly fried. Beef noodle soup with red and green chili: by far; the strongest dish. The color was a bit alarming initially, but it actually was the good amount of spice; enough to get your mouth and nose running but not overwhelming. The meat was generously portioned and all brisket based (so super tender and easy to eat, not a lot of fat or tendon either). More than enough generous portions for me and my mom.
