Specializing in spicy noodles and dishes, Noodology has a variety of different flavors, from golden sour noodle soup to mala, it will satisfy any numbing spice craving. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup and it is savory, numbing and some depth. However, with the amount of oil used in each bowl, I feel like I need to have a sense of moderation.

Limited options for food and normal flavor -- I would recommend the Huaxi beef rice noodles, which is the one I usually ordered. Cautious about the sanitary conditions that someone witnessed a **cockroach** passing by in the restaurant.

My partner and I are such big fans of this noodle shop in Irvine. Highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a comforting bowl of piping hot soup and perfectly chewing noodles. For appetizers, we ordered the wood ear (aka cold black fungus) in a slight numbing chili and soy sauce. The cold appetizer was a solid choice since it cooled down our palette in between each bite of our hot soup dishes. My partner got the dry noodles with minced pork and it had such a rich flavor from the chili oil sauce (give it a good mix) with a hit of acidity from the pickled vegetables.

My Huaxi beef rice noodle had a numbing broth, but it was way lighter in the numb department compared to what I had the night before at Mian at South Coast Plaza (tldr: so numbing to the point it was inedible and will lead to brutal...

heartburn). The pieces of beef for both the dry and noodle soup dish were so tender and had a great mouthfeel. Although this is not included in the below picture, we also ordered the Chengdu spicy dumplings and this was the absolute highlight of the meal. I'm impressed with how thin the dumpling wrapping was in the midst of holding a large amount of filling. Overall, the meal was not heavy from an oil perspective and it was actually quite light with the balance of the cold appetizer and the hot dishes. As other comments have mentioned, their portion size is huge so expect to take home leftovers (which is always a plus)!

I have been to multiple locations these past few years, and they used to only have various noodle dishes. However, this time we noticed some new fish hotpot dish and decided to give them a try. We got the spicy dumplings and the small fish hotpot served with white rice. They were both yummy. The fish hotpot is pretty spicy and came out burning your mouth hot, so be careful with the soup. It has fish fillets and some sliced spam with wood ear mushroom and cabbage. This dish went very well with white rice and is big enough to share between two people. The spicy dumplings is juicy and meaty on the inside. Overall, a solid dinner. The place has a typically Chinese restaurant vibe. Service was alright, we noticed the table that came after us got their noodle orders before our order was served. Maybe it takes longer to make the fish hotpot or something; I am not sure.

I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place. It's a no frills, order through QR, food comes decently fast kind of place. Pretty good option for a quick lunch (depending if there's a lot of people dining tho). I like the cold dishes that you can pick out, but it's a small portion of you compare to Spicy city that also does the cold dish option. Tried their seasoning offering which was dry beef noodle but it came out to be more like sauces noodle, kind of remind me of big plate chicken styled noodles. Anyways, the consistency in flavor is nice and you get what you expect (unless you venture out to seasonal items). Pretty clean place as well. They're always out of potato floss tho!

Came in for a late lunch, and the restaurant was pretty empty. The staff seated us immediately, a very family, friendly environment. Super welcoming! We sat at the open tables and got water, ordered online using a QR code as is common in many Chinese restaurants nowadays. We ordered the Huaxi noodles, one with rice noodles and one with noodles. We also got the Taiwanese Braise Beef Noodle soup with rice noodles. We got two cold dishes and a dessert, which was the pig ears, kelp salad, and brown sugar rice cakes. The food was all very filling and satisfying. The portions are the perfect size and we ordered a side of extra rice noodles since we were extra hungry. The cold dishes are at the front and can be requested up front. The rice cakes were very tasty too! The rice noodles aren't the best quality I've had but they satisfied a craving, and especially when they are rarer to find, we were happy. Left feeling very full and recommend checking Noodology out! Lots of parking, clean restaurant, good service, and quality food.

This place is located in a plaza with many other Asian options. You have to scan the QR code to order and that wasn't very obvious, so I'm letting you know. The atmosphere is very mom and pop with many booths. Nice and clean environment. We tried their noodles the original beef one and also the sauerkraut fish noodle, They were both really good with rich intense flavor broth, definitely on the spicy side. We ordered 3 side dishes and they were all very flavorable and tasty. Will definitely come back for a quick grab for noodle.

Small noodle shop in Irvine with bold, spicy Taiwanese flavors that hit the spot. Everything we ordered had great texture and spice, and the portions were solid. Spicy Dumplings: Get Soft dumplings in chili oil that had a good kick and lots of flavor. Great way to start the meal. Dry Pork Noodles: Get Really comforting. Loved the mix of minced pork, scallions, and egg on top of springy noodles. Braised Beef Noodle Soup: Get Super flavorful and rich. Comes packed with meat, veggies, peanuts, and a broth that has heat and depth. The space inside is small but cute. Pretty casual and chill, though not ideal for big groups. We've visited Noodology several times. Overall, the food quality is still good and that's the main reason we keep coming back. However, there are a few issues that make the experience less enjoyable. There is no menu anymore--everything is through a QR code. Personally, I find this inconvenient because the characters on the phone are too small, making it hard to order. I need to ask the staff to order the food for me. The restroom was not clean and had a noticeable smell. I hope the restaurant can improve by cleaning it more regularly.

The food is REALLY good and spicy. Been here twice and it's essentially Sichuan because my mouth is numb (not all dishes, I just choose dishes that are spicy). Service is spotty... if you are seated in the back area like I was the first time, they didn't come by at all. (You order off a QR-code and then send the order online.) The second time, we sat right by the cashier so we got water refills much more and checked in on. Otherwise, small family business restaurant. Located in a small plaza with decent parking.

Perfect Taiwanese comfort food! I enjoyed EVERYTHING I ordered from here! The fresh milk tea was so refreshing! I recommend getting an extra cup of ice since they make it fresh so it's warm still. For a restaurant with "Noodle" in their name the noodles are the worst part of the delicious broth and meat. We had both the rice noodles, that were overcooked, and the regular noodles, better, but they were not homemade nor were they flavorful. I just don't get it???! read more

We ordered takeout and I tried the #1 Guizhou Huaxi Beef Noodle, with rice noodles. This comes with a good amount of hot broth (more than we could safely pour in the provided bowl of noodles/toppings). The broth has the numbing you get from Sichuan peppercorn (also known as 'prickly ash' as the menu states) and is flavorful and rich without being at all fatty. The rice noodles are cooked perfectly to a good texture, and there's a good amount of thinly-sliced beef tendon, bok choy, and pickled greens. Overall it's a good serving of quality food for the price point, and I'd happily come back the next time we're craving beef noodle soup or to further explore their menu! read more

I enjoyed the dry noodles with minced pork. The marinated duck wings were tasty and spicy (my mouth is burning as I'm writing this). I also tried my wife's beef noodles and found the beef a bit tough for my liking, but not a big deal. The place is super popular and bustling. Service is pretty fast and efficient, except they got one of our orders wrong and things got confusing for a moment. read more

I was a little overwhelmed by all the options (do I want peanuts? Spicy? Bamboo? Chinese pickles? Type of beef?? AH!) but finally settled on #4, the classic beef noodle soup with Chinese pickles and ordered the flour noodles. The bowl of noodles was HUGE... but I ate it all anyway. I liked it a lot! The beef was nice and tender, and the noodles had a good texture (I'm picky with noodles). Kind of wish I had more noodles to even out the ratio of noodles:toppings, but that's all that I can say. Food is fine but customer service experience is terrible. They make you order everything through your personal phone with their mobile app even if you are standing at the front counter. Imagine needing to browse through a long poorly designed step by step website to just figure out what's on the menu then giving it all your personal information for a bowl of noodles to go. I've had great experiences with modern ordering system, this is not one of them. Maybe someday they will set up kiosk where you can enter your order and pay like every other business in the area. read more

My husband and I just left this restaurant and I had to write a review right away. We had three dishes Taiwanese braised beef noodle soup, beef with red and green chili peppers noodle soup and chengdu spicy dumplings. All three dishes were amazing!! At first, I thought my dish(the red and green peppers soup) was too spicy, so I asked David our server how I can make it less spicy. He immediately brought out more broth and white rice for me. I'm Indian and I love spicy food, but I should have known better-;) The way David helped me (no charge for the extra soup or white rice), we were v impressed. I love green onion and asked for extra to put on top of my soup. Again, David was v helpful and brought out a nice sized bowl of green onion. We will be back with friends and family. Noodology has been our go-to beef noodle place. They are open for take out only, but their good quality is still the same. Their takeout packaging is convenient, and they separate the soup from the noodle and put them in two different containers. Highly recommended to get authentic Chinese noodles! read more

I don't know how this place is getting an average of four stars. I hate ripping a place but sometimes it just needs to be done. First off the staff we dealt with were terrible and unfriendly. The person who greeted us as we walked in seemed annoyed we walked through the wrong door so he told us to go to the other entrance and sign in. When we sat the server who helped us couldn't answer one question about any of the items we asked on the menu. He either said he didn't know, shrugged his shoulder, or said everything in the menu had the same things... really???!!! So after we ordered, less than 45 seconds later (like no joke it was less than a minute) our entire order was brought out and put on our table! I was like uhhh... is this stuff just sitting back there under a heat lamp like at fast food restaurants or what?! He literally took our order walked back to the kitchen and walked back to our table without stopping for more than a few seconds! I ordered a fried egg to put in my beef brisket noodle bowl so in my mind I'm thinking there is no way from the time he took our order to walking back to the kitchen and walking back did they have any time for making this fried egg. Well, I tasted the egg and it was so rubbery that I knew it was made maybe hours or days ago! Like bruh, WTF!!! The broth was not hot, more like lukewarm and sour. I'm not sure if the sour was from their pickled items they serve, but I didn't order it I'm mine. So either it was that or the broth had gone bad, which ultimately makes me want to throw up The beef brisket was eh... I mean it wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. Maybe because it was soaking in the sour broth it just died more in there. The rice noodles were typical so no problems there. I ended up eating maybe three chopsticks full and two sips of broth and I was done. My friend with me tried to eat maybe a couple more bites than me but she ended up stopping and we bounced to go get something to rinse our mouths out with... true story. Anyhow, sorry for the rough review but dude it was bad. Maybe because this place is across from IVC with hungry college kids that it's getting four star reviews... not from me though... read more

Pretty solid place for some solid chinese soups! The menu is divided by regional noodles from the different provinces in China. Now, I'm no expert on this cuisine because I'm not chinese (lol) but I kind of had an idea of what to expect. The interior is quite clean and service was friendly. Our table came with complementary peanuts and I ordered the #3 chonqqing beef noodle thing. The soup was good with a refreshing yet spicy broth with a good kick of vinegar that complemented the rice noodles quite well. The beef chunks was incredibly tender and was by far the highlight of the dish! Pretty much all of the dishes are $10 not including tax / tip, so it is quite affordable. Nothing really blew me out of the water, so again I stress "solid" being the keyword to this place. Great place, and I enjoyed my time here! read more

They have taken a trun for the worst... They don't have the Yam noodle, only rice and eggs. My friend was pissed. Ordered one of the hottest (spicy) style soup Cheng Du hot pot, it was not spicy at all. The beef had a fleshy taste, did not use enough cooking wine to kill certain taste of the meat. Super fast service on a Friday night. We tried Braised beef noodle, Huaxi Beef rice noodle & Beef noodle with pickled pepper, some people say they are too spicy, but I didn't think so. The portion are good, but they still could have put in a little more noodles. Remember to try their side dishes, we had the potato string and cured tofu, yummy. read more

I'm glad they are open for pick up during this pandemic. Their #3 bowl is still delicious as I remember it. I only wish that an older gentleman from the kitchen would wear his mask--twice in two different occasions, I've noticed the gentleman casually speak with another staff member without a mask. I've noticed that front staff members responsible for pick up have been consistently following masking guidelines, though. read more

This is my 2nd time here during COVId. 1st time, the girl who took my order was very rude and 2nd time I've ordered the Chengdu hot pot beef noodles with wide glass noodles to go and I didn't get any beef. Good meal, portion was very large for the price. Most menu items are around $10. Soup came warm with a pea and peanut snack bowl. Location also offers a free drink for sharing their yelp listing with friends. Overall, great place for a friendly meal or solo run during lunch. read more

By the time we got home, everything still tasted fresh and tasted *chef's kiss*. AND the leftovers were just as good the next day. I'm not used to searching through bite-sized chicken pieces for bone so it was a bit of a chore. I did it anyways because it tasted amazing! Had heard good things about this place and was happy I had the chance to try it! I had a party of 2…read morearound 2:30PM on a Sunday. There was a crowd of people waiting outside so I was a bit nervous that it would take really long. But we added our name to the waitlist on the iPad outside and we were sat in less than 30 minutes (when we went on the list, we were party 13). The wait went by super fast! By the time we finished our meal, there were lots of open seats. I first heard of this place as a "copycat Din Tai Fung". I actually think it's better to think of this place as another Taiwanese restaurant that serves similar food to DTF, but not a copycat. Although some of the popular items are the same (XLBs for example) the restaurants are definitely different. Firstly, the service here is SO FAST. And all the servers were really kind! We ordered our food and it felt like everything came out within MINUTES of each other. By the time we had all our savory dishes, I had only taken one bite out of the first dish. That's how fast it was! Haha We ended up ordering: Spicy XLBs, Beef Roll, Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup, and Taro XLBs for dessert. Everything was DELICIOUS! My husband's favorite was the Beef Roll, while I think my favorite may have been the soup. The Spicy XLBs (4/5) were great! They felt quite large as I ALMOST had to eat them in two bites (but like why would I ever do that). Flavor was great and I thought there was actually very little spice in these. Compared to DTF'x XLBs, I thought these were just as juicy, but less ginger-forward (which made it feel less flavorful), and more sweet. I was personally missing some acid and wanted a bit more salt cuz it was a tad sweet. The Beef Rolls were pretty good too (4.25/5)! Nice and crispy. Even though it's pan fried, it felt light because of the vegetables. And I know this is weird to say, but the combination of beef, hoison sauce, and veggies almost tasted like pho flavors...but crispy? Yummy! I personally again wanted a bit more salt. But I'd definitely order again. Now for my favorite, the Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (4.5/5). WOOWWEEE! She's spicy! And I have a good spice tolerance so beware. I really loved the flavor of the broth. It was spicy and also had a really clean flavor. It looked like it would be a watery broth but WRONG! It was so flavorful. I loved the chewy noodles too and even the noodles on their own were spicy cuz they clung onto the broth. A really delicious soup! I'd love to eat this on a cold winter's day or when I'm sick. Delicious! The Taro XLBs (3.9/4) were pretty good too, but skippable. They weren't too sweet, which was nice. They had a lovely consistency and good taro flavor. But compared to everything else, they weren't that special. Overall, a really delicious restaurant! I'd definitely come here if I was craving XLBs/Taiwanese food.

I took that part home and my wife loved it. I tend to avoid the fatty meat and tendons are not good to me. 10 of us so some of the appetizers got passed around. The smashed cucumbers are excellent, and my buddy also got some friend potatoes of sorts, reminded me of a fat French fry. Because my buddy and I sat at the same table we scanned the same menu, he ordered a bunch of stuff and also House Special Beef Pot Roodle. That confused the kitchen and they asked me if I meant to order 2, I said no and didn't realize I cancelled my buddy's order. Part of the confusion of a large party and many scanned menu orders. I will absolutely never go there again! Their waiters' attitude is extremely rude, they even walked away without speaking when I was talking to them. They would even lock customers outside. I never expected to encounter such service at a restaurant. Not to mention they are friendly to white customers, but very rude to other Asian customers, and racism so easily shown through their service. Great taste and great service! I was warried that I won't get what I want due to communication problem and unfamiliar with Chinese food. But a friendly dude did a very good job on recommendation. I got "Braised beef Brisket Rice Noodle" and it was very tasty. The meat was well cooked, smooth and soft. I ordered one more to go for my boy when I left. I also tried BoBo Chicken (cute name) which is a kind of very interesting appetizer. Parking space was a little bit tight but not that serious. ？？？东西很好吃，经常去吃，外卖自提堂吃都点过，但是下次不会堂吃了lol 本来高高兴兴去吃饭，吃完了我问大姐要账单，过了一会是新来的小姐姐上单。她账单拿上来和我说$40.96（税后），然后她就一直站在我旁边也不走。我拿了一张$50的给小姐姐，我说不用找了。然后她和我说："你好我们这边40.96是不包含小费的。" 我？？？我看了一眼账单，确定了是40.96，我就和她说"对啊，账单不是40.96吗？我给你50，不用找了啊。" 她就又说了一次你好我想和你说我们这边的账单是没有包含小费的。？？？怎么的？？税后40.96我给9.04是不够吗？？？？？？？然后她一共说了3次说没有含小费，说完转身就走了，也不拿钱走。最后我叫的大姐给我找钱。给了5块小费，甚至不想给。我不理解现在LA吃饭税后41块钱是要给到多少钱小费？？要给到税后30%往上？？今天点的煎蛋是温的，第一份粉里面煎蛋是后上的，小姐姐拿着夹子直接从厨房夹出来夹到碗里；我点的藤椒粉，碗边沿上还有红色辣椒油的痕迹。吃的时候不说是我真的无所谓，在外面吃饭但凡不是太过分的都不是大问题，但是最后结账服务生小姐姐这态度真的很难让人hmmmm read more

Awesome service and on time delivery! The Noodles was so delicious and tasty. I really enjoyed my experience here. All the staff were so friendly and down to earth. I ordered the Beef Hot and Sour Soup with rice noodles and a chicken broth based soup with beef. The Hot and Sour Beef soup was so flavorful! It had lots of beef and the red based broth was nice. They topped the soup with roasted soy nuts. They added a nice crunch. It was my first time to visit such restaurant. I highly recommend. read more

The Taiwanese beef noodles at this place are absolutely delicious. However, I did encounter some issues with the service. When it came time to pay, the cashier seemed rushed and repeatedly prompted us to quickly select one of the preset tip percentages. We would have preferred to leave a custom tip amount, but the cashier's urgency made it difficult to do so. This was super disappointing because we really liked the food here, but the service is just a bit lacking. read more

Had the Chengdu Braised Beef Noodle Soup; it was really great. I'm an aficionado of A&J's Beef Noodle Soup (been a client of A&J's right down the road for a long time) and this was a decent substitute. About a similar fiery dimension, yet with peanuts. Would have cherished the alternative to put pickeled mustard greens in (different noodles have that included) however. read more

Come early at least 20 minutes before they open for lunch or dinner or be prepared to wait. Even with the wait EVERYTHING is delicious and worth it. It can get loud at time but great and fun environment. The combo selections are great for both noodles or seafood. They are well known for their fresh made udon so do yourself a favor and get a nice hot and yummy bowl!! read more

This is probably the best noodology that I have been to. The flavor is amazing and the soup is hot. Very clean, staff is friendly and helpful, food is tasty and plentiful. Traditional beef noodles with Chinese pickle were very delicious! Definitely will come back to try other selections. read more

I have been to this place at least 20 times, and all servers were nice. However, today, there is a new sever who provides a bad service. I ask for water and wait for around 15 minutes. Besides, she talked with me with a mean face, which makes me really uncomfortable. read more

Whoa!! This is a fantastic place with a wide range of noodles. Picture speaks a thousand words and makes it hard to decide which noodle dish to try. I'll need to come back to try other noodle dishes. Large portions and appears to be healthy for you too. read more

Simply the best noodles in town. Far better than places similar to it. Highly recommended and will be back again. Not that Yelp reviews mean anything but I give them a 5 star to boost their star rating. Hope you make lots of money in 2020. read more

Wasn't too impressed by this Sichuan spicy noodle shop. My noodles weren't cooked enough as the center of the noodles were hard. The broth for one dish was bland and numbing, while the other was just okay. read more
