Specializing in spicy noodles and dishes, Noodology has a variety of different flavors, from golden sour noodle soup to mala, it will satisfy any numbing spice craving. Limited options for food and normal flavor -- I would recommend the Huaxi beef rice noodles, which is the one I usually ordered. Cautious about the sanitary conditions that someone witnessed a **cockroach** passing by in the restaurant.

My partner and I are such big fans of this noodle shop in Irvine. Highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a comforting bowl of piping hot soup and perfectly chewing noodles. For appetizers, we ordered the wood ear (aka cold black fungus) in a slight numbing chili and soy sauce. The cold appetizer was a solid choice since it cooled down our palette in between each bite of our hot soup dishes. My partner got the dry noodles with minced pork and it had such a rich flavor from the chili oil sauce (give it a good mix) with a hit of acidity from the pickled vegetables.

My Huaxi beef rice noodle had a numbing broth, but it was way lighter in the numb department compared to what I had the night before at Mian at South Coast Plaza (tldr: so numbing to the point it was inedible and will lead to brutal...

heartburn). The pieces of beef for both the dry and noodle soup dish were so tender and had a great mouthfeel. Although this is not included in the below picture, we also ordered the Chengdu spicy dumplings and this was the absolute highlight of the meal. I'm impressed with how thin the dumpling wrapping was in the midst of holding a large amount of filling. Overall, the meal was not heavy from an oil perspective and it was actually quite light with the balance of the cold appetizer and the hot dishes. As other comments have mentioned, their portion size is huge so expect to take home leftovers (which is always a plus)!

I have been to multiple locations these past few years, and they used to only have various noodle dishes. However, this time we noticed some new fish hotpot dish and decided to give them a try. We got the spicy dumplings and the small fish hotpot served with white rice. They were both yummy. The fish hotpot is pretty spicy and came out burning your mouth hot, so be careful with the soup. It has fish fillets and some sliced spam with wood ear mushroom and cabbage. This dish went very well with white rice and is big enough to share between two people. The spicy dumplings is juicy and meaty on the inside. Overall, a solid dinner. The place has a typically Chinese restaurant vibe. Service was alright, we noticed the table that came after us got their noodle orders before our order was served. Maybe it takes longer to make the fish hotpot or something; I am not sure.

I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place. It's a no frills, order through QR, food comes decently fast kind of place. Pretty good option for a quick lunch (depending if there's a lot of people dining tho). I like the cold dishes that you can pick out, but it's a small portion of you compare to Spicy city that also does the cold dish option. Tried their seasoning offering which was dry beef noodle but it came out to be more like sauces noodle, kind of remind me of big plate chicken styled noodles. Anyways, the consistency in flavor is nice and you get what you expect (unless you venture out to seasonal items). Pretty clean place as well. They're always out of potato floss tho!

Came in for a late lunch, and the restaurant was pretty empty. The staff seated us immediately, a very family, friendly environment. Super welcoming! We sat at the open tables and got water, ordered online using a QR code as is common in many Chinese restaurants nowadays. We ordered the Huaxi noodles, one with rice noodles and one with noodles. We also got the Taiwanese Braise Beef Noodle soup with rice noodles. We got two cold dishes and a dessert, which was the pig ears, kelp salad, and brown sugar rice cakes. The food was all very filling and satisfying. The portions are the perfect size and we ordered a side of extra rice noodles since we were extra hungry. The cold dishes are at the front and can be requested up front. The rice cakes were very tasty too! The rice noodles aren't the best quality I've had but they satisfied a craving, and especially when they are rarer to find, we were happy. Left feeling very full and recommend checking Noodology out! Lots of parking, clean restaurant, good service, and quality food.

This place is located in a plaza with many other Asian options. You have to scan the QR code to order and that wasn't very obvious, so I'm letting you know. The atmosphere is very mom and pop with many booths. Nice and clean environment. We tried their noodles the original beef one and also the sauerkraut fish noodle, They were both really good with rich intense flavor broth, definitely on the spicy side. We ordered 3 side dishes and they were all very flavorable and tasty. Will definitely come back for a quick grab for noodle.

Small noodle shop in Irvine with bold, spicy Taiwanese flavors that hit the spot. Everything we ordered had great texture and spice, and the portions were solid. Spicy Dumplings: Get Soft dumplings in chili oil that had a good kick and lots of flavor. Great way to start the meal. Dry Pork Noodles: Get Really comforting. Loved the mix of minced pork, scallions, and egg on top of springy noodles. Braised Beef Noodle Soup: Get Super flavorful and rich. Comes packed with meat, veggies, peanuts, and a broth that has heat and depth. The space inside is small but cute. Pretty casual and chill, though not ideal for big groups. Service was fast, nothing fancy. I'd definitely come back for another spicy noodle fix. Food: 8/10 Service: 6/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 6/10

We've visited Noodology several times. Overall, the food quality is still good and that's the main reason we keep coming back. However, there are a few issues that make the experience less enjoyable. There is no menu anymore--everything is through a QR code. Personally, I find this inconvenient because the characters on the phone are too small, making it hard to order. I need to ask the staff to order the food for me. The restroom was not clean and had a noticeable smell. I hope the restaurant can improve by cleaning it more regularly.

The food is REALLY good and spicy. Been here twice and it's essentially Sichuan because my mouth is numb (not all dishes, I just choose dishes that are spicy). Service is spotty... if you are seated in the back area like I was the first time, they didn't come by at all. (You order off a QR-code and then send the order online.) The second time, we sat right by the cashier so we got water refills much more and checked in on. Otherwise, small family business restaurant. Located in a small plaza with decent parking.

Perfect Taiwanese comfort food! I enjoyed EVERYTHING I ordered from here! The fresh milk tea was so refreshing! I recommend getting an extra cup of ice since they make it fresh so it's warm still. Noodles on point Meat falls apart in mouth, fat properly rendered, seasoning is excellent. Soup has a great balance of acidity and spice, savory, without feeling too heavy. Don't miss out. Solid spot.

We went there in the late afternoon when the business is slow. You can see there are stuff sitting on the dining section for a break or having their meals there. We waited for our order for about 20 minutes and I have to go to the counter to ask about our order. The cashier went to the kitchen and the other stuff come out with him from the kitchen with our order. I ordered a Taiwaness beef noodle, which does not have a mark "spicy" on the menu. However, the order come in a oily and spicy soup. I went to ask the waiter for an exchange. He apologised and let me know the non-spicy option on the menu and brought it to me 5 minutes later. The soups are very typical economic Chinese street food. I don't like this kind of soup personally. It makes me feel a bit sick after having it, and I puked out the food right away after we arrived home. read more

Came for quick dinner and got seated right away. We ordered their beef noodle in tomato soup base and another one in their spicy broth. Food quickly arrive to our table still warm. Taste overall is decent. Price is average this Irvine. Portion is large however mainly noodle and broth with a few thinly slice pieces of meat. Service is quick and friendly. I've been here many times, tried so many different dishes. They were closed for few months during Covid, I was glad they re-opened for takeout in June. My favorites are: Chengdu Instant spicy steam pot - flavorful, not overwhelmingly spicy. Comes with vegetables and protein. A good dish to go with rice. Chongqing Beef rice noodle with pickled peppers - This is my to go order. Diced braised beef is always soft and melts in your mouth. Not too spicy and flavor is on point. Dry noodle with Minced Pork - When not in the mood for soupy stuff, this is a great alternative. Love the pickled beans, add so much flavor to the rice noodle. Beef rice noodle with green and red chilli - This is supposedly the most spicy one on the menu, I personally think its rather more salty than spicy. This one comes with sliced beef. I like the diced braised beef more for a chunkier bite. Crystal Jelly - this is a traditional dessert in Sichuan. Great way to end a meal. read more

Came here before 11:30AM on a weekday thinking about getting take-outs. The waitress was nice enough to give me a heads-up that there would be a $2.50 packing charge for take-outs. I ended up dining in and had some leftover (no charge for the container). Food taste was fine, but the half-egg came with the noodle was cold. read more

This place is great for dinner on a cold rainy day. It was a bit of a wait but the gentlemen was professional and did his best to get us seated ASAP. It's a fairly smaller sized restaurant so don't expect to be seated quick anyway. We got the spicy braised beef noodle soup (#12). The food came out relatively fast. The meat was tender and flavorful. The noodles weren't mushy at all. It's a nice and cozy place to come for a quick lunch or dinner! read more

They took forever to make 2 bowls of noodles, one came about 20 minutes before the other one, and when we asked about it they didn't update us about the status. When we asked again they said they were going to make it now. Then the noodles came out in 5 minutes. The two items we ordered were basically the same thing. Took over 40 minutes and 3 different servers to get 2 bowls of noodles. Pretty bad service. Food is mediocre and not worth the service or the wait. Definitely not a work lunch place. read more

Had really high hopes for this spot. Saw the negative reviews but thought I'd still give it a try. The place is new so it's clean. Service was on par with a Chinese restaurant which means it's not good but I wasn't expecting anything more. The food however was DISGUSTING! If you want noodles cooked in salt broth this is your place. The peppercorn makes your whole mouth and lips numb. Food was so bad I barely touched it and I'm a glutton who will usually always finish his food regardless how bad it is. Ended up having to go across the plaza to Dunkin' Donuts to wash out the taste of $#!+ from my mouth. read more

First off, the food is actually pretty decent. My wife and I ordered the Braised Beef Noodle, Intestines Noodle, and Popcorn Chicken. The portions were decent for the price they are offering. This review gets a ONE STAR because they decided to add on more tips to the final amount after I had already left them tips. I only found this out after checking my credit card statement. This is theft and I contacted the restaurant to see if I could get this situation resolved as it could be a case of fat fingers when entering the amount. Left my name and number for the manager to call me back but haven't heard from them. Go for the food but make sure you check to see if they are charging you correctly. read more

I was so happy to find out the opening of this place. I'm a huge fan of spice rice noodles and let me tell you, this place will fix your cravings! From interior to menu, everything is very trendy and modern Chinese style. Food is consistently tasty and authentic. The actual food is different from menu and from what I ate before. No more baby boy choy. Only sprouts instead. Don't think customers will not know when you change to cheaper material. If the owner only think earn money from cut material, he or she will not earn any money from customers. read more

I took that part home and my wife loved it. I tend to avoid the fatty meat and tendons are not good to me. 10 of us so some of the appetizers got passed around. The smashed cucumbers are excellent, and my buddy also got some friend potatoes of sorts, reminded me of a fat French fry. Because my buddy and I sat at the same table we scanned the same menu, he ordered a bunch of stuff and also House Special Beef Pot Roodle. That confused the kitchen and they asked me if I meant to order 2, I said no and didn't realize I cancelled my buddy's order. Part of the confusion of a large party and many scanned menu orders. Even though they weren't our favorite place, the times we stopped by Capital Noodle Bar was usually on our way to/from the airport for a quick bite. Not only was the restaurant large (snagging a table was never an issue), but our food (typically) came out relatively quick. In addition, their menu was stocked with so many delicious options. It felt a little more Malaysian than Chinese to me, but, regardless, their collection of appetizers, dim sum items, congee, noodle soups, stir fried noodles, entrees, fried rice, and rice plates was so enticing, we couldn't help but come back to try more and more! -- HOT SAUCE TRAY I know it's kind of weird to mention this, but I love their dish of hot sauces. In particular, their jalapenos and chili oil go well with everything we've had here. -- CRISPY TOFU This may not have looked quite like what I had expected, but this was pretty good! The tofu was pillowy soft and piping hot while the outside of it was surprisingly crispy, given how it's not really battered. -- WONTON NOODLE SOUP - Pork & Shrimp Wonton, Egg Noodles We got this as part of their weekday special ($12 all-day, dine-in only), so I'm not sure if the portion size is any different. Either way, this was great. The wonton skins were a little thin, but each piece was plump and juicy, the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth was solid. -- CHAR KWAY TEOW - Shrimp, Chinese Sausage, Bean Sprouts, Egg, and Large Rice Noodles I've been on a bit of a kick ordering this whenever I see it and this was one of the better ones. The noodles were cooked really well (very bouncy), the dish had a slight kick yet it wasn't overly salty/seasoned, and the dish wasn't overloaded with beansprouts. -- SPICY GARLIC CALAMARI Ehh...this wasn't "bad", but it was definitely underwhelming. Although these were seasoned well and had a nice crispiness, the calamari itself was chewy and reminded me of the generic type you get at most other Chinese restaurants. -- TRIO OF BEEF NOODLE SOUP - Sliced Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Beef Stew (Beef Shank, Tripe, Tendon, Carrot), and Egg Noodles I was super hopeful for this one, but it turned out to be just okay. For me, the ingredients tasted fine, but the portion seemed a little light on the beef shank and the broth needed a bit more body to it (felt a little thin). -- CRISPY HAINAN CHICKEN - Deep Fried Dark Meat, Pickled Vegetables, Ginger Rice, Soy Sauce, Ginger, and Chili Sauce Not very traditional, but no less delicious. Boneless Hainan Chicken is appealing enough, but fried, too? While I wish there had been more of it, each piece was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The ginger rice was quite tasty as well! -- WAGYU BEEF POSTICKERS Pretty standard, though, not necessarily in a bad way. Although there wasn't much of a browned bottom/crust on these, I love how big and plump these were and how the filling had a nice, beefy flavor to it. -- HONG KONG STYLE CHOW FUN WITH CHICKEN, Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Mushroom, Egg, Gravy Sauce, and Large Rice Noodles This was just okay for me. The dish had a good ratio of vegetables and meats to noodles, but the gravy didn't do much for me - there was so much of it, it felt more distracting than additive. -- MANGO GREEN TEA Surprisingly, this wasn't nearly as sweet as I feared it would be. The mango flavor in this wasn't super intense and went well with the green tea. Along with how satisfying most of Capital's dishes have been, the other thing that I liked about this place was the staff. Every time we came here, the workers were always friendly and really attentive, even despite how they usually only had one server working. That being said, it has never been all that busy either, which might help explain why their closure. As genuinely bummed as I am to learn that this place has closed, it should be said that it's not like Capital Noodle Bar is gone forever. If you missed your chance to try them, or just want to eat here again, they have another location in Costa Mesa that's still open and just a short drive away. And, as it turns out, it's even closer to the airport, so our pseudo-ritual of stopping off can continue to live on. Thanks for the memories, Irvine Capital Noodle Bar!

I will absolutely never go there again! Their waiters' attitude is extremely rude, they even walked away without speaking when I was talking to them. They would even lock customers outside. I never expected to encounter such service at a restaurant. Not to mention they are friendly to white customers, but very rude to other Asian customers, and racism so easily shown through their service. Great taste and great service! I was warried that I won't get what I want due to communication problem and unfamiliar with Chinese food. But a friendly dude did a very good job on recommendation. I got "Braised beef Brisket Rice Noodle" and it was very tasty. The meat was well cooked, smooth and soft. I ordered one more to go for my boy when I left. I also tried BoBo Chicken (cute name) which is a kind of very interesting appetizer. Parking space was a little bit tight but not that serious. When it came time to pay, the cashier seemed rushed and repeatedly prompted us to quickly select one of the preset tip percentages. We would have preferred to leave a custom tip amount, but the cashier's urgency made it difficult to do so. This is probably the best noodology that I have been to. The flavor is amazing and the soup is hot. Very clean, staff is friendly and helpful, food is tasty and plentiful. Traditional beef noodles with Chinese pickle were very delicious! Definitely will come back to try other selections. read more

I have been to this place at least 20 times, and all servers were nice. However, today, there is a new sever who provides a bad service. I ask for water and wait for around 15 minutes. Besides, she talked with me with a mean face, which makes me really uncomfortable. read more

Whoa!! This is a fantastic place with a wide range of noodles. Picture speaks a thousand words and makes it hard to decide which noodle dish to try. I'll need to come back to try other noodle dishes. Large portions and appears to be healthy for you too. read more

Simply the best noodles in town. Far better than places similar to it. Highly recommended and will be back again. Not that Yelp reviews mean anything but I give them a 5 star to boost their star rating. Hope you make lots of money in 2020. read more

Great noodles! Restaurant is modern, really clean, and the service was good. The portion is huge. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other dishes when it's wintertime and want something spicy and hot! read more

Wasn't too impressed by this Sichuan spicy noodle shop. My noodles weren't cooked enough as the center of the noodles were hard. The broth for one dish was bland and numbing, while the other was just okay. read more
