This was my third time dining here and I can say that the experience gets better every time. I ordered the Original Deluxe Tonkotsu ramen with eggs added on and the spicy cucumber and french fries. I am usually kind of picky about how I like cucumber prepared but the marinade and texture of these cucumbers were quite rich and flavorful! The broth was the perfect temperature and had a great balance of flavor and lightness, while the meat and noodles were exceptionally tender. I did peak at the table next to us and saw that they had the truffle fries and it looked really tasty so I might have to come back and order those instead! Our server Destiny N, gave my friend and I the perfect experience, knowing exactly when to check in with us and when we needed more water and assistance! She actually gave us the recommendations of ordering the original and my friend's spicy ramens and they were my favorite by far. She was very polite and positive and made our experience even better. We came in around 6:00p and it was the best time for me and my table of two as they were able to seat us immediately. We sat near the back of the restaurant on the right side and were able to enjoy our food while the sun slowly crept down and the sky turned deep blue. Always down for new places to try and this recently opened ramen shop was on my radar. It's located at Kahala Mall but on the McDonald's side, next to Brug Bakery. It has a small lot but it's shared with other businesses, including McDonald's. Gets super congested- I recommend parking across the way. Got there right at opening so we were the first people there. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and the interior is very nice, classy looking. We had the original ($18) with bone broth, half and egg, char su. The noodles were very good, nice amount of firmness. We also ordered the pan fried gyoza ($8). The wrapper was thin and tasty stuffing. Also the karaage chicken ($9)- moist and crispy. The only thing bringing it down to 4 stars was that we both agreed that the food was salty. We did ask for lower salt in the broth but it was still a bit salty for us, IMO. Nothing beats homemade food! Made from scratch should be mandated when people are considering opening up an eatery. No short cuts! The Broth Bar sets the standard for every other restaurant calling itself a restaurant. I have a million compliments to give and the highest of praises to extend and they're all colliding together in my mind that it nearly makes it impossible to write this review. I'll try to make it short and sweet. The prices are reasonable or comparable to other restaurants. Our server was kind, informative and attentive. The space is very open and clean with a reasonable amount of seating. I am the mother of 6. I put a lot of love, thought and care into the food I make for my family. We finally tried this place we heard that opened up next to Kahala Mall. If you love ramen, this place is a must-try! What we ordered: The Shoyu, The Spicy, and Karaage. Although the broth was a little oily, everything tasted good, our kids also approved the food! We were greeted and seated right away. We went on a Saturday a little before 5:30pm. It wasn't too busy. The place was really nice and clean and the staff were friendly and frequently checking up on us if we need anything. There is parking located right outside but it's a small parking area. If it's full you may need to park in the lot near Kahala Mall. There are no restrooms inside the restaurant however they will provide you with the key. This casual, trendy restaurant is another decent ramen option for the Kahala area. If you're looking for something that everyone can enjoy, this could be a good option. I had the spicy deluxe during this visit and it was good -- generous with their portions and garnishes. I also tried several appetizers. But their chicken karaage was memorable -- huge pieces, battered and fried to perfection -- it could be a meal of its own. First time patronizing this restaurant. We were looking for dinner after the kid's basketball game. It's been a few years since we came to this little strip mall, and I was curious about this new business. The bright lights showed the inviting and comfy-looking booths through the windows. The kid decided he'd like to check it out and that's how we ended up dining in. The restaurant was half full and somewhat busy. There were two wait staff, and both young men were friendly and helpful. I got the kid's curry (no age restriction, I asked!) with karaage, the kid got the spicy deluxe, and the hubs got original deluxe. My little bowl of rice and curry came out super fast, then my CapriSun (so cute!), and my crispy three pieces of karaage. The curry has bits of chicken and a mild kick, which was surprising. The original deluxe broth is really rich and has a strong pork flavor. The spicy deluxe though is just chili oil spicy, can't taste much of the broth. The noodles were al dente which we all like. Thumbs up all around! Reasonable prices for the portions and quality of food and flavor. We were impressed by the refreshing wet towels (real, not towelettes) and reusable utensils that were already placed on the table. I like how the napkin (sturdy, not flimsy) is folded to envelope the chopsticks and spoon. Cute crockery and plating too. Congratulations on your grand opening. Welcome to the neighborhood! Very easy to find and lots of free parking. This establishment is clean and tidy with courteous and helpful servers. We ordered the beef tataki, boom boom chicken, and Wonton to share. Our three items were served quickly and presented well. The beef tataki was thinly sliced and seasoned with ponzu. Our preference is to have it a little more on the rare side but otherwise, this was good to try on our first visit. The boom boom chicken was juicy tender strips of chicken. Served cold, this was topped with a tasty dressing and sesame seeds. Paired nicely with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. Glad we tried it! Last but not least, we shared the Wonton. A new ramen spot opened up in Kahala and I wanted to try it. They offer ramen, rice bowls, curry and a ton of appetizers. The restaurant has a chic decor with 13 tables and an open kitchen. We decided on the gyoza $8 and spicy tuna w/crispy wonton $9 for our appetizers. For the ramen we got the original deluxe $20 and the original vegan $18. I tried both broths. They were both good. The pork broth in the original was creamy and a bit too salty. The vegan broth had a strong sesame flavor. The deluxe bowl was supposed to come with three piece char siu, but my bowl only had two small pieces. I love my ajitamas and this was cooked perfectly. The spicy ahi was minced and topped with kabayaki sauce. This was good on the huge crispy wonton chips. The gyoza didn't stand out and was ok. They had the best take out containers for the ramen. The ingredients are put on a plastic container that slips on top of the bowl, with the broth on the bottom. That keeps the noodles from soaking in all the broth. Service was good. We went on day 2 to attempt to get the free bowl (promotion - first 50 customers). Would not recommend this type of promotion. So many angry people, so many issues that they shouldve learned from day 1. Also would make sure your online wait list is turned off during promotion times. Restaurant did a nice clean up of the old Domino's space. But it seemed like their air conditioning did not work properly that day. Really nice chopsticks. Do they re-wrap (the tiny band) them each time? We ordered: - gyoza - filling was kind of skimpy and missing seasoning - spicy shrimp wonton - just a shrimp wrapped in a wrapper with a red sauce. Didnt taste like Sriracha or Kochujang. - cucumbers - was not flavored enough - spicy deluxe ramen - tasty and had a whole egg, 3 char siu, and seaweed (was missing some items from the menu description) - tan tan - tasty but only half an egg and char siu The noodles are home made (per their IG) but taste familiar - like chinese skinny white noodles that we often buy. They were not chewy like other home made noodles are, but that could simply be because they're thin. Broths were good. The spicy broth had a lot of dried shrimp flavor (is that odd?). The char siu was good but small. The appetizers were not that great. Food came out fast. Service was great, especially considering we were there on one of their opening days and people were grouchy from waiting. My family and I went during the grand opening days to take advantage of their BOGO. The store is located outside of Kahala Mall next to Share Tea and near McDonald. The interior was nice. Very modern and simple with good lighting. The tables and booths were spread out fairly and there were enough seats for about 50 people. Signature Gyoza: The gyoza was not bad. It was fresh and the filling was good. Popcorn Shrimp: They use actual small shrimp instead of the shrimp balls which is preferred. However, some of the shrimps still have the vein. The breading wasn't crispy and it fell off the shrimp easily. The aioli sauce was the saving grace for the flavor. Karaage: The breading was alright. Kind of generic fried chicken breading that is plain and hard. The chicken was juicy and thick. The dipping sauce was very good. Spicy Tuna Bowl: The spicy tuna was very good. It was creamy and the sriracha mayo was not overpowering the tuna. Spicy Tuna with Crispy Wonton: Same as the spicy tuna bowl but with wonton chips. The spicy tuna scoop was so little. Not enough for the amount of wonton they gave. The portion was so small that it was not worth getting as an appetizer. The Spicy Deluxe: The broth was pretty good, however it wasn't spicy. The spice was very subtle. The broth was rich and flavorful. The ramen they use are thin noodles. The egg was very good. A full ramen egg that is not fully boiled so the yolk was soft and a little runny. The char siu was very good. It was moist with a good amount of fat. The cut was thicker than other places and it wasn't dry. The Tan Tan: The broth for the tan tan ramen was chicken broth. It was a very light broth. Not as flavorful as their pork broth. It also has a more prominent peanut flavor. The ground pork was good. This ramen over all was not that good. Compared to tan tan ramen at other places, this fell short. Overall, not a bad ramen place. I do recommend their signature ramen over the others. We went on their grand opening days so there were a lot of kinks that need to be work on. They got our order wrong 3 times and our check was over billed. The prices on their check didn't match with the prices on their menu and they forgot to minus a bowl for their BOGO deal. I do recommend to double check your receipt. Another issue was that the restaurant was humid. It looks like the air con was off or turned way down. There was barely any airflow circulating inside. Service was alright. You can tell they were pretty overwhelmed because of the number of customers inside and outside their store. This new place in Kahala really impressed me! The ramen was very balanced and nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion, I did like the thin noodles though. The beef tataki, however, was spectacular. That was the best beef tataki I have ever had. But what really amazed me and my friend is the packaging. They have such care into their chopsticks (being engraved), the napkin that holds utensils and then folds out to be put on your lap, the take out bag being insulated and very good quality as well. The Original had a very mild spice, if you're looking for a spicy taste- then get The Spicy ramen. The noodles made this ramen different than other places- they were thinner. The restaurant puts pride in the look of the bowls, chopsticks, and napkins. They were all custom made with the restaurant name. And they had the thick expensive napkins. After waiting in line for a while to be seated, we were informed of the appetizer that I wanted being sold out - okay that's fine - so I opted on ordering what they had left along with the ramen. When the appetizer arrived they informed me that they had run out of broth so no ramen is available and would comp the appetizer and an extra appetizer on the house. First of all, this is like saying I'm going to a sushi restaurant and there's no freakin' fish for an omakase, or going to a bar with no draft beer. The appetizers on the house were nothing compared to what I had to go through to wait it out instead of just leaving to find somewhere else to eat. The wait for the other comp'd appetizer took so long and I wanted to just walk out. They should have compensated for the appetizers and maybe give a voucher for the 2 bowls of ramen that never saw the light of the day so that it would give me a reason to want to come back, because after this I will never come back. We were excited to try this new ramen place in the neighborhood, especially with a name like The Broth Bar! I had The Tan Tan which was good but not as rich and flavorful as I would have liked. The noodles, which are homemade, was very good. Its thin, somewhat similar to somen noodles. The ramen was garnished with ground park, char siu, ajitama egg, bok choy and green onions. All complemented the ramen nicely. I also tried the gyoza, karaage chicken, bang bang chicken, and spicy ahi bowl. The gyoza was good, similar to other Japanese restaurants. The bang bang chicken is a salad with a tasty homemade dressing. The karaage chicken was just okay, I would've preferred less batter. I've been to the broth bar twice! It's a great spot for a casual tasty dinner. The first time I got their signature ramen, and the second time I got chicken katsu curry. Both were yummy, but I'd stick to ramen as it's what they're known for! The curry was a little salty, but the flavor was delicious and the katsu was fresh. Comfort food in the hood!!! I was so happy the first time that we came back a second time with hubby! Loved the chill vibe and especially its cleanliness. You can tell they are well composed when they give you a brand new towel (not paper) each time and their chopsticks and spoon and napkins are of quality. It's family friendly and also very accommodating since it's in Kahala off from the main mall area right next to Share Tea and Brug Bakery. What I loved about Broth Bar is the broth... from their original (which I recommend is smooth tonkatsu flavor) and their chicken broth is reminds me of a bit of Morimoto's which is #1 in my book. Although I've tasted many ramen in Japan (which I love) and have a friend that owns a ramen restaurant in Shizuoka, Broth Bar broth is more on the local side of flavor. For me, I love the freshness of the noodles, broth and won ton dumplings! My son ordered the tan tan and original broths and seemed to like it. Our server (darn...forgot his name) was excellent and attentive. They were quick to seat us and very accommodating when I wanted to try another broth with my won ton mein. We ordered the spicy wonton and cucumbers for appetizers. The wonton was spot on with a slight kick so you can taste it other than being "over sauced" and "over spicy". For those of you who love Korean banchan cucumbers, their cucumbers are a bit different, very Japanese style in which the focal point is freshness and not overly dressed with salt and sauces with a "touch" of spice that lingers for a second. All in all, we love this place and coming back for Mother's Day supper since mother in law requests (Yay! Save $). Love that it's comfort food and we don't have to pay an arm and leg for it! We popped in to The Broth Bar last night for a late dinner. After a short wait. We were seated and instantly were impressed with the service. The team was very welcoming and attentive. The menu is easy to navigate and there were plenty of options for choices of ramen, curry, and appetizers. Their drink options were plentiful too. Although busy, they took our order timely and, before we knew it, our dinner was delivered. It was hot and delicious! The gyoza was perfectly cooked and tasty. The ramen, made in-house, was cooked exactly the way we wanted it. The char siu was soft and complimented the noodles well. The creaminess of the ajitama yolk combined with tonkotsu broth was so ono too. Only thing to consider was the noise level. It was loud but it was a Friday night and lots of young people were in there having a great time. I'd suggest some noise absorbing material on the walls to help. There are lots of nice options that are inexpensive. Regardless, the food and service were both excellent and we're looking forward to our next visit! Highly recommend you try it! read more

Stopped by The Broth Bar near Kahala Mall and was pleasantly surprised. Their ramen is inspired by the popular Japanese chain Ichiran, and honestly, they did a pretty solid job capturing that same rich, comforting flavor. The broth was very flavorful and came impressively close to the real thing--definitely the highlight of the meal. You can tell they put effort into getting that depth right. I actually liked the Tan Tan better than the original, as it had way more flavor than the original. I had to add shoyu & chili oil to my original ramen. The broth here is on the lighter side than most of the other tonkatsu broths at other ramen restaurants, it's not as rich. It's good if u prefer a lighter flavor broth. The redesign in this place is beautiful. It's a very warm atmosphere and the servers reflect that same feeling in their service. The broth or the ramen was very rich and is definitely a lot more filling than most. I wish the spice sauce had a stronger kick to it. The takoyaki was definitely my favorite it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a fair amount of filling in it. The only real issue I had was the order in which. our food came out. We received our ramen first, our appetizers second and our drinks last in about 10 minute intervals. The Broth Bar Noodle House newly opened in Kahala. We went to their grand opening. Bogo free ramen deal. We waited in line for three hours. I almost gave up after two hours but I am glad I didnt. We ordered appetizers Takoyaki $8.50 たこ焼き octopus-filled dough balls with takoyaki sauce, mayo, aonori and bonito. There were several small pieces of tako in the Takoyaki, which is more than other places I have eaten at. Bang Bang Chicken $9 バンバンジーチキン shredded chicken breast with cucumber, tomato slices, and homemade sauce. This was basically sliced chicken strips set on vegetables. Chicken and vegetables were fresh. The Spicy Deluxe $21 pork bone broth, full ajitama egg, 3 pcs char siu, green onion, kikurage, 3 pcs nori, homemade spicy sauce & homemade noodles. The pork bone broth was so rich and delicious! The Broth Bar is one of those places that stays busy for a reason. We put our name on the Yelp waitlist and it quoted 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 45. Not a huge issue, just something to factor in if you're arriving hungry. Pro tip: sign up on the waitlist while you're on your way there. It'll definitely help cut down your actual wait time. Once inside, the ambiance really stood out. The space feels modern and thoughtfully designed. The lighting is impressive without being harsh, giving everything a warm, polished vibe. The seating was comfortable, and even with a full house it wasn't too noisy. We could actually have a conversation without raising our voices, which I always appreciate in Honolulu spots that tend to get loud. We started with the gyoza and those were really good. You can taste that they're homemade. The wrappers had a nice bite and the filling was flavorful without being heavy. Solid 4 out of 5. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen was the star. The broth was rich and layered with flavor, with a nice spicy kick that wasn't overwhelming. I'm more used to thicker noodles, so the skinny noodles surprised me at first, but they worked well and soaked up that broth beautifully. Easy 5 out of 5. We also tried the Spicy Tuna roll, and that was our least favorite. It wasn't bad, just nothing memorable. The minced ahi texture wasn't ideal for us, and the flavor felt like the standard spicy tuna you can get almost anywhere. I'd give that a 2 out of 5 and skip it next time. The kids plate lunch deserves a shoutout. For $9, it's honestly impressive. Good portion, good quality, and our son loved it. That's a 5 out of 5 all day. Another thing I appreciated was the takeout packaging. The broth was so good we couldn't let it go to waste, so we brought the leftovers home to mix with our own ramen the next day. Their containers are well designed and keep the noodles separate from the broth so everything stays fresh and not soggy. Thoughtful touch and definitely 5 out of 5.
