Large juicy pieces of chicken with the perfect amount of breading and a delicious dipping sauce. Must get! The Miso Ramen was rich, bright, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. You don't usually get rich and bright in the same broth. The Vegan Tantan Ramen was absolutely outstanding. The soy milk broth was thick and flavorful. Went in early morning at opening. No waiting but they do have on-line reservations. They also have a wait list pad if you walk-in. Tables are set with chop sticks, soup spoons, napkins and wet towel to freshen up before eating. Place has a update, clean and bright Japanese feel. Ordered one original and one original deluxe with the hot sauce on the side. The only difference is that the deluxe has more egg, seaweed and char siu. Plus some crunchy fungus (looks like sliced, Chinese call elephant ear). Broth is not clear and very tasty. A little salty but it balances out when you have it with the noodles. Egg is cooked perfectly and the char siu is lean and soft. Gyoza is tasty but, alittle soft for me. I use the hot sauce fr om my noodles as a sauce for the gyoza. Pros: I like that you can make reservation on line or sign in on the wait list. It's a nice touch to have a wet towel to freshen up before your meal. Service was fast and friendly. The meal was very filling. Cons: The gyoza was a little too soft for me. Parking is not the best. There was alot of pick-up only stalls. Would I go back? Yes I would if I was in the neighborhood. Located outside of Kahala mall by McDonald's, brug, right next to Share Tea. Most hot and cold appetizers are $10 and less, which nowadays seems rare to be $10 or less. We tried the gyoza, karaage chicken, and truffle fries and decently sized! Chicken karaage was crispy and super juicy served with a spicy mayo sauce. The table across had ordered won ton chips and spicy ahi which looked good! Kids meals were a deal $10 curry rice or ramen with 2 karaaage chicken or 3 gyoza and a capri sun. The ramen came with 1/2 egg 1 piece or pork and corn. And the broth was good too more like a shoyu Original ramen $18 1/2 egg, 1 pork, 1 nori. Original deluxe 1 egg , 3 pork, 3 nori $20. Loved the broth, it was thick flavorful, packed with flavor! Take out containers allow you to separate the broth from the noodles so then your leftovers aren't all soggy! Conveniently located at Kahala Mall, there is a lot of parking. I came here for dinner on a weeknight with my family. There were others dining, but it wasn't crowded for a weeknight. It's a casual restaurant and good for families and small groups. There is a variety of items to choose from besides ramen. My boys enjoyed the kids menu items, which included ramen and a chicken karaage set. I really enjoyed the broth's flavors, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The appetizers were also good. Came for lunch on a Friday and there was a queue. Easy to check in at the counter using the Yelp check in app and they text you when your table is ready. The interior is bright but not very large which is also why there was a queue. There are tables just outside with shade where you can wait comfortably. We got chicken karaage and popcorn shrimp, both were really good and very generous portions. For our mains, we got the Spicy Vegan and The Original. The broths were really rich and delicious. The only issue we had was that they were severely understaffed. Only two aunties in the kitchen and one guy on the floor. He did a great job checking people in, taking orders, bringing drinks etc but we waited almost 25 minutes for a table even though there was one vacant table there, it needed to be cleaned. Drinks took a long time to come out but again, simply down to not being properly staffed. When we left, the aunties called out good bye and the service was very friendly. Just a shame that the guy had to run to floor on his own. I hope today was a one off and we will probably be back because the food was really good. We decided to drive from Ewa to checkout this establishment. It was so worth it!! We made reservations on yelp but upon arrival we were welcomed in and were seated immediately. What a very nice experience with a classy and neat presentation of the table setting to the take home packaging. I love the individually packaged wet towel with the utensils. We finally tried this place we heard that opened up next to Kahala Mall. If you love ramen, this place is a must-try! What we ordered: The Shoyu, The Spicy, and Karaage. First time patronizing this restaurant. We were looking for dinner after the kid's basketball game. It's been a few years since we came to this little strip mall, and I was curious about this new business. The bright lights showed the inviting and comfy-looking booths through the windows. The kid decided he'd like to check it out and that's how we ended up dining in. The restaurant was half full and somewhat busy. There were two wait staff, and both young men were friendly and helpful. I got the kid's curry (no age restriction, I asked!) with karaage, the kid got the spicy deluxe, and the hubs got original deluxe. My little bowl of rice and curry came out super fast, then my CapriSun (so cute!), and my crispy three pieces of karaage. The curry has bits of chicken and a mild kick, which was surprising. The original deluxe broth is really rich and has a strong pork flavor. The spicy deluxe though is just chili oil spicy, can't taste much of the broth. The noodles were al dente which we all like. Thumbs up all around! Reasonable prices for the portions and quality of food and flavor. We were impressed by the refreshing wet towels (real, not towelettes) and reusable utensils that were already placed on the table. I like how the napkin (sturdy, not flimsy) is folded to envelope the chopsticks and spoon. Cute crockery and plating too. Good vibes, even the kid commented the staff looked like they're just besties having fun. Will come back if/when in the area. Bathroom is outside, need key to use. We ordered the beef tataki, boom boom chicken, and Wonton to share. Our three items were served quickly and presented well. The beef tataki was thinly sliced and seasoned with ponzu. Our preference is to have it a little more on the rare side but otherwise, this was good to try on our first visit. The boom boom chicken was juicy tender strips of chicken. Served cold, this was topped with a tasty dressing and sesame seeds. Paired nicely with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. Glad we tried it! Last but not least, we shared the Wonton. Broth was rich and flavorful. Noodles were tender and generous. We had a combination of pork and shrimp Wonton, both tasty morsels. The dining area was also quite warm, which made it a little harder to fully enjoy a hot bowl of ramen. On the positive side, the staff were courteous and friendly, and parking was easy to find at night. Been here a couple times.. The ramen and gyoza are good. I like the atmosphere and the service. The karaage has potential, it was a bit too oily for my taste(yes i know it's deep fried). I wish they'd let more excess oil drain before plating. Or use tenshi paper on the plate, i think the white paper on the black plate would look good. Their ramen is inspired by the popular Japanese chain Ichiran, and honestly, they did a pretty solid job capturing that same rich, comforting flavor. The food at The Broth Bar is good, but the hospitality is what I'll remember. I went with my family and at first I wasn't sure what to expect. The space is small and it was quiet enough that I wondered if we had made the right call. Then the staff welcomed us with the kind of warmth that immediately changes the room. That matters. The broth itself was excellent. Clean, comforting and deeply satisfying. The noodles were good too, a little doughy and floury in spots, but still enjoyable. The karaage was one of the best things we ordered: crisp, hot and exactly what you want fried chicken to be. Not everything hit. The chashu was dry and a little too porky. The gyoza made my kids happy, which counts for something, but it wasn't crisp enough and leaned soggy. Still, the kids meal was thoughtful and cute and the Capri Sun was a small detail that made the whole thing feel family friendly. A new ramen spot opened up in Kahala and I wanted to try it. They offer ramen, rice bowls, curry and a ton of appetizers. The restaurant has a chic decor with 13 tables and an open kitchen. We decided on the gyoza $8 and spicy tuna w/crispy wonton $9 for our appetizers. For the ramen we got the original deluxe $20 and the original vegan $18. I tried both broths. They were both good. The pork broth in the original was creamy and a bit too salty. The vegan broth had a strong sesame flavor. The deluxe bowl was supposed to come with three piece char siu, but my bowl only had two small pieces. I love my ajitamas and this was cooked perfectly. The spicy ahi was minced and topped with kabayaki sauce. This was good on the huge crispy wonton chips. The gyoza didn't stand out and was ok. They had the best take out containers for the ramen. The ingredients are put on a plastic container that slips on top of the bowl, with the broth on the bottom. That keeps the noodles from soaking in all the broth. Service was good. They refilled the water cups. They also had sealed wet towels on the table to wipe your hands. read more

My family and I went during the grand opening days to take advantage of their BOGO. The store is located outside of Kahala Mall next to Share Tea and near McDonald. The interior was nice. Very modern and simple with good lighting. The tables and booths were spread out fairly and there were enough seats for about 50 people. Signature Gyoza: The gyoza was not bad. It was fresh and the filling was good. Popcorn Shrimp: They use actual small shrimp instead of the shrimp balls which is preferred. However, some of the shrimps still have the vein. The breading wasn't crispy and it fell off the shrimp easily. The aioli sauce was the saving grace for the flavor. Karaage: The breading was alright. Kind of generic fried chicken breading that is plain and hard. The chicken was juicy and thick. The dipping sauce was very good. Spicy Tuna Bowl: The spicy tuna was very good. It was creamy and the sriracha mayo was not overpowering the tuna. Spicy Tuna with Crispy Wonton: Same as the spicy tuna bowl but with wonton chips. The spicy tuna scoop was so little. Not enough for the amount of wonton they gave. The portion was so small that it was not worth getting as an appetizer. The Spicy Deluxe: The broth was pretty good, however it wasn't spicy. The spice was very subtle. The broth was rich and flavorful. The ramen they use are thin noodles. The egg was very good. A full ramen egg that is not fully boiled so the yolk was soft and a little runny. The char siu was very good. It was moist with a good amount of fat. The cut was thicker than other places and it wasn't dry. The Tan Tan: The broth for the tan tan ramen was chicken broth. It was a very light broth. Not as flavorful as their pork broth. It also has a more prominent peanut flavor. The ground pork was good. This ramen over all was not that good. Compared to tan tan ramen at other places, this fell short. Overall, not a bad ramen place. I do recommend their signature ramen over the others. We went on their grand opening days so there were a lot of kinks that need to be work on. They got our order wrong 3 times and our check was over billed. The prices on their check didn't match with the prices on their menu and they forgot to minus a bowl for their BOGO deal. I do recommend to double check your receipt. Another issue was that the restaurant was humid. It looks like the air con was off or turned way down. There was barely any airflow circulating inside. Service was alright. You can tell they were pretty overwhelmed because of the number of customers inside and outside their store. This new place in Kahala really impressed me! The ramen was very balanced and nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion, I did like the thin noodles though. The beef tataki, however, was spectacular. That was the best beef tataki I have ever had. But what really amazed me and my friend is the packaging. They have such care into their chopsticks (being engraved), the napkin that holds utensils and then folds out to be put on your lap, the take out bag being insulated and very good quality as well. The Original had a very mild spice, if you're looking for a spicy taste- then get The Spicy ramen. The noodles made this ramen different than other places- they were thinner. The restaurant puts pride in the look of the bowls, chopsticks, and napkins. They were all custom made with the restaurant name. And they had the thick expensive napkins. I wish they had vinegar or the Japanese red pepper at the table. There were 2 waiters that were working when I was there. Bussing tables, taking orders, and bringing out the food. After waiting in line for a while to be seated, we were informed of the appetizer that I wanted being sold out - okay that's fine - so I opted on ordering what they had left along with the ramen. When the appetizer arrived they informed me that they had run out of broth so no ramen is available and would comp the appetizer and an extra appetizer on the house. First of all, this is like saying I'm going to a sushi restaurant and there's no freakin' fish for an omakase, or going to a bar with no draft beer. The appetizers on the house were nothing compared to what I had to go through to wait it out instead of just leaving to find somewhere else to eat. The wait for the other comp'd appetizer took so long and I wanted to just walk out. They should have compensated for the appetizers and maybe give a voucher for the 2 bowls of ramen that never saw the light of the day so that it would give me a reason to want to come back, because after this I will never come back. Communication should be worked on with customers and staff if they run out of food. They lost a customer and I will never be back at this establishment because of this experience. read more

It has a small lot but it's shared with other businesses, including McDonald's. Gets super congested- I recommend parking across the way. Got there right at opening so we were the first people there. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and the interior is very nice, classy looking. We had the original ($18) with bone broth, half and egg, char su. The noodles were very good, nice amount of firmness. We also ordered the pan fried gyoza ($8). The wrapper was thin and tasty stuffing. Also the karaage chicken ($9)- moist and crispy. The only thing bringing it down to 4 stars was that we both agreed that the food was salty. We did ask for lower salt in the broth but it was still a bit salty for us, IMO. The noodles, which are homemade, was very good. Its thin, somewhat similar to somen noodles. The ramen was garnished with ground park, char siu, ajitama egg, bok choy and green onions. All complemented the ramen nicely. I also tried the gyoza, karaage chicken, bang bang chicken, and spicy ahi bowl. The gyoza was good, similar to other Japanese restaurants. The bang bang chicken is a salad with a tasty homemade dressing. The karaage chicken was just okay, I would've preferred less batter. I've been to the broth bar twice! It's a great spot for a casual tasty dinner. The first time I got their signature ramen, and the second time I got chicken katsu curry. Both were yummy, but I'd stick to ramen as it's what they're known for! The curry was a little salty, but the flavor was delicious and the katsu was fresh. I had the spicy deluxe during this visit and it was good -- generous with their portions and garnishes. I also tried several appetizers. But their chicken karaage was memorable -- huge pieces, battered and fried to perfection -- it could be a meal of its own. Broth bar lives up to its name with Rick delicious broths. I wish their noodles were a bit chewier but the ramen are definitely flavorful. The deluxe adds extra of the toppings so we often split that three ways and then add a bunch of the appies/sides. Cucumber salad isn't worth it IMO but the tokoyaki here is great! read more

Pretty first rate but it's crowded so come early. Cute and clean with modern minimalist looking dining room. We arrived 10 minutes before opening and there was a line when we left. The noodles were perfectly consistenty but slightly on the thinner side. Charsui was amazing. read more
