He rebuilt my twin Solex 44PA1 carburetors that came off my 1977 Bayliner Cascade with an in-line 4 Cylinder Volvo engine. Greg is the best. For an entire year, I was driving with two feet because my 83 Chevy Van had rough idle and would stall if I didn't keep the gas running. Cold starts would take at least three tries and black exhaust smoke would come out. He knew immediately which carburetor I needed and already had one rebuilt. I took it home, installed it, and the engine started on the first crank! Drove it for a few miles and noticed I didn't have to keep the gas pedal down anymore when stopping. Outstanding job on rebuilding my 86 Nissan 720 Carburetor. It took me awhile to find someone who rebuilds old carb's and has the parts or at least access to them and you are the place! The price I got for the rebuild included all the parts with labor. The price was very reasonable. I even mailed the carb to them and that was no problem. This is a Cash only place, no credit cards. There is only 3 places in California who do Carb Rebuilds and this is the best place, especially if you have older cars. Greg was very knowledgeable in the old school carb's and understood my situation. He had all the parts and said no problem. My carb looks like brand new. Nice fellow have used before but if you have a valuable or special carb you want rebuilt correctly he's not the place to go anymore. Best description would be rough and dirty about his service. He swapped hardware off my 1970 GTO Quadrajet and didn't clean it in any real fashion nor rebush throttle plate shafts which it clearly needed. Wound up taking my carb to Ace Fuel in San Jose to get it rebuilt correctly, not cheap but quality work, you get what you pay for... read more

Greg rebuilt the carburetor on my 1987 Honda Accord DX hatchback, after I failed a smog test. (I also had to do other stuff, replace the catalytic converter, etc., but finally passed.). The car had been running rough, even after a tuneup, and my regular shop suggested a carb rebuild. I looked all over northern California but I think Nor-Cal Carb might be the only shop still working on carburetors. He did a great job, on time and on budget, and my car now runs (almost) great; he also identified another (non-carb) problem, quite subtle, a partially plugged EGR port in the intake manifold, which my regular shop agrees is an issue and is now going to work on. Greg has batches of spare parts for all sorts of carburetors. I just hope the next time I need a carb rebuild, in another 5 or 10 years, that he's still in business. Great job, Greg. 5 stars.
