When I suggested they try augering the drain, he told me it wouldn't work and claimed that other plumbers who would do that were "being shady." Because if the auger snake got stuck or was "missing," it could cost an additional $3,000-$4,000, which honestly felt like a scare tactic. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion. The next plumber simply augered the line for $180, and everything works perfectly now -- no wall cutting, no extra charges. I'm so glad I didn't let them talk me into unnecessary work.
