As a former Nordstrom employee, Ebar is a solid spot. I used to come here daily for coffee, pastries, salads, smoothies & sandwiches. The staff is usually pretty busy, but they always take the time to provide great customer service. Some days there can be a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it. My go-to is an iced Americano with oat milk, half lavender & half vanilla. When it's warm out, my guilty pleasure is an Electric Chair. I'm not sure where I first learned about it, but it's a bit of a secret menu item, basically a can of Coke & espresso (at least that's how it started for me). Over time, I've gotten more creative & added oat milk & vanilla, and it's so refreshing & delicious. The food and cookies here are really good! It's packed during the holiday season but worth it for the food quality. The chicken Alfredo is tasty and the perfect portion size for something hearty that will fill you up without leaving you feeling stuffed. Although I haven't personally tried them I've heard the soups served here are also very good. I've had several disappointing experiences with Maggie (manager) at this location. The manager's interactions with employees often come across as disrespectful, even in front of customers, which creates an uncomfortable atmosphere. I personally have witnessed her raise her voice at an employee for simply finishing a conversation with a customer about a trip that she had gone on and since that encounter I have not seen this girl so I'm assuming (purely assumption) she either got fired or left. Additionally, her management style feels overly controlling rather than collaborative. Instead of empowering employees, she gets angry, which doesn't contribute to a positive or productive work environment. My recent encounter that was very weird, mind blowing and showed how much of a controlling person she is, was ordering three avocado toast and her saying that she was not ready to make those because she was an hour late to work when we had just watched a different employee finish making another customer avocado toast. I was very confused because you know more people are gonna come and ask for this order so because she wasn't ready we weren't allowed to order and enjoy our breakfast. I have bit my tongue for so long regarding these issues with this manager because I really like everyone that works there but I can't even imagine how they feel when they are on the clock with her because of how I've been treated as a customer . I hope the company addresses these issues, because the rest of the staff works hard, and they are so phenomenal and with better leadership, this could be a much more welcoming place for everyone. read more

I ordered a large cold brew with easy ice from the Nordstrom E Bar in Costa Mesa. What I received was barely a medium size cup. When I asked why, the barista told me that "easy ice" means less liquid too--which is completely illogical. I paid full price for a large drink, not a watered-down sample. This is the first time I've ever experienced such poor treatment at a coffee shop--especially at Nordstrom, where I expect better service and transparency. I felt cheated and disrespected. The photo attached shows exactly what I received. Be careful when ordering here. If you ask for easy ice, you might end up paying full price for half a drink. This experience was unacceptable, and I hope Nordstrom takes steps to train their staff on respectful customer service and honest practices. read more

Unbelievable service. 10/10. My nephew wanted a plain bagel, but I saw that the person ahead of me ordered the last one in the display case. I asked the cashier if she had more in the back, and even though they didn't, I appreciated that she checked. My nephew ended up getting the pizza bagel and he was not disappointed!!! He didn't even need cream cheese and it was gone in seconds. Haha. My latte was delish, as always. The drinks came out quickly and the bagels were perfectly warmed up. Lavender Chai Latte is a serious win for me! I love how they make it here and while you are shopping you can enjoy your cup of joe or sit at the few chairs that they have on the side. This place isn't big and they actually have a lot of customers. So I understand why people might not like this place. But I believe it is worth the wait. This Ebar is one of the smallest with very limited seatings. I ordered an iced lavender chai with coconut milk, I think I like it hot much better. The ice melted from high temperature that day so it watered down the drink and tasted weird. I was glad to see one of the workers was cleaning the condiment bar with disinfectant wipes thoroughly! A lot of places don't pay as much attention to disinfect surfaces anymore. I get it workers are tired of doing it for more than 2 years. So I really appreciated the effort! A raining day = Hot chocolate moment for me, especially when you need the "energy" to stroll around South Coast Plaza and shop. Tried other menu instead of my regular caramel macchiato. I ordered Italian Chocolate as advices by their server. I do appreciate her honesty to keep me small size as it's quite intense, which was the right portion for me. As an extreme dark chocolate lover, Italian Chocolate is rich and creamy chocolate taste. Very well balanced betwen chocolate and milk. Sugar level was really just nice. read more

I'm pretty impressed with Nordstrom's cafe. The customer service is great and their lattes and cookies are too! My favorite deink is their spiced chai latte with oat milk. It's just so smooth. They have a good little selection of pastries as well. My fav. is their Royale Cookie- must try (if you like chocolateand nuts)! Sometimes I drive to this mall just so that I can stop by here. I want to give 5 stars but depending on who's working here there service can be 5 stars or 1!! Yoli, Ashley, and maribel are all amazing and give Nordstrom quality service. There are a few other employees who are just terrible and when i go in and see them i already know the ebar is out of something or there is something they claim they can't do which employees with 5 star service manage to handle. I'm sorry it's easy if you hate your job quit. That simple. People who need coffee can't deal with a bad attitude early in the morning. The two baristas were just as efficient. I got my drink within minutes. Cookie n creme: $5 for a tall. Equivalent to Starbucks. I never had a good cookie n creme from a coffee shop before and wasn't expecting much but Ebar. You exceeded my expectations. I happily guzzled my drinks as I touched the fabrics of $200+ dresses -with the hand that wasn't holding the drink, of course. I'm considerate, y'know. You look at the menu, you figure out what you want, you order, you wait for your order, you get your order, you leave. Please don't be one of those people who get in line, don't know what they want, take forever to order, block everyone else in line, wait impatiently, grab the wrong drink, leave, come back, bitch and moan that they got the wrong drink, take both correct and wrong drink, and leave. Anyways, ordering items isn't too bad, but you are battling all sorts of clientele....most who are rude, impatient, forget what they ordered seconds after they ordered, and they cut in line. Anyways, only main gripe the bf and I would have is that when they are calling out the complete orders, they aren't specific. "A smoothie!" "A tea!". Okay....there's a few of us standing around for smoothies and teas. Which one is it that you just made? :/ Taste-wise, it's not too bad, but it doesn't taste gourmet or the full $4. They do put in some extra flavors that try and give it the wow factor, but we kind of just drink it without thinking much about it. Sometimes, though, the smoothies taste like they have tons of sugar. Maybe they're using a powder mix? Prices are okay, but a few cents pricier. Is it worth it? Well, it's South Coast Plaza, so the inflation isn't surprising. It's a convenient place to get something, though. Will probably be back. Just really irritating to deal with the other customers. I had heard raving reviews of the coffee so I had to try it! I ordered a Mexican Mocha and it is delish. Delicious Mexican chocolate and coffee together in one drink, I am not a big chocolate lover so I could only drink like 5 ounces but my cousin absolutely loved it. I also bought some hazelnut wafers and OMG!!!! those cookies are addicting, I am so happy I only bought one packet. Imagine the classic wafer with nutella in the middle. It is divine! I also saw Ibarra Mexican chocolate. Now, if you want good cheap Mexican chocolate, go to a Supermarket. The little bag was like $5.00 at Norsdstrom, you can buy a big box of Chocolate Abuelita at Costco for the same price. I like this place. The new Ebar is really nice. There is seating now, whereas there wasn't before, so it really resembles your local coffee shops. Spacious and you can rest your shopping feet. There was no line to speak of really. Staff were super efficient. The place was clean. We decided to try something different and went for the mocha banana drink for first time.
