Once upon a time, there was a young princess who needed a nice dress for a ball. After careful selection and screening, the little princess met her dress charming (which was priced 50% off of sticker) and was prepared to live happily ever after with her beautiful new dress... until she strolled by the shoes. Well of course, it couldn't hurt to look because the prices are so discounted, and the little princess adored her dress charming so much and knew it deserved the best shoes possible. So after more careful selection and fittings, the little princess found a glass slipper that was the perfect fit for her dress charming and was now prepared to live happily ever after.... until she walked past the earrings... Which of course would be discounted as well, so it couldn't hurt to look... Life continued on this way, meandering from discounted dazzling accessories to discounted faerie tale handbags to discounted magical makeup to discounted enchanting hosiery and so on... until the Kingdom of the Rack announced its impending closing, at which time the little princess headed to the check out stands heavily laden with all of the prettiest and dearest of treasures imaginable. Of course she hand't planned on spending nearly this much on a dress, but she held an enchanted credit card which took care of that petty manner of money. Adorned in all of her shiny new pretties, little princess was the most beautiful princess at the ball. And she lived happily ever after.... off of top ramen... which was all she could afford to eat until the credit card bills were finally paid off. The end. Moral of the story: DANGER! TOO MANY PRETTIES TO RESIST! They do have nicely discounted name brand clothing along with plenty of shinies to tempt you into spending 5x as much as you'd planned to going in. Never buy jeans here. Their return policy is horrible for women who struggle to find the right pair of jeans. I tried on a pair in store and they fit perfect! I was so excited. The next day I decided to wear them for the day, being excited as they fit so well at the store, and within an hour out an about ... I was swimming in the jeans. They stretched out so much and I was so bummed. Keep in mind, they were expensive! So two days later I go to return these jeans with the receipt (unwashed, worn for a few hours) and they would not even give me store credit!!! There was 0 damage or sign of wear on these jeans at all and I was left with a very fake lady telling me to go wash the jeans and that will help. Never again will I buy from Nordstrom rack with this strict of a policy. read more

Clean and organized! My daughter outgrew her shoes and within just a few minutes of searching for new ones, she found a pair that she fell in love with at this location. I had great luck in the shirt and sweater department. Where we struck out is in the unmentionable area that I'll mention. If you like thongs and lace, you'll be in heaven. If you want just normal cotton bikini bottoms that don't look like they belong to someone's grandma, you are so out of luck. The pajama section exists but it is smaller than I'm use to seeing up in NorCal. This is the third Nordstrom Rack I've been to and they all seem to specialize in carrying certain items. The employee that helped us with our final purchase was really nice. Worth checking out, especially if you need shoes! read more

I have love for all Nordstrom Racks, and I am fortunate that my new residence (CA) has more locations than the rest of the US combined. For my husband and our credit cards, not so lucky... The prices are fair compared to buying retail, if you browse all the racks, I am a sucker for the clearance and designer show clearance you can get great deals, I usually set myself a limit to only get things under $100 a piece and you can actually find a lot of high end designers within the budget, love it! The lines are always a bit long but they move along fast and now they have the new check out where all store workers can ring you up without having to get in line! This place sucks. Don't go here. Ok ok I'm lying, but only because I want to keep this little gem a secret. This is probably the best rack I've been too, with the best selection. It doesn't have they over-picked-through-Ross-on-a-bad-day feel other Racks can have. Not only do they have a lot of great stuff in my size, they carry many of my and my husband's favorite brands (Joes, 7 Jeans, True Religion, Ben Sherman, Juicy, a bit of Marc Jacobs, Rafe, LAMB). Also check out the high-end beauty products and hair care for some great deals. Shoe-wise I wasn't impressed. They had a lot of great brands, but you've gotta have a lot of time to look at each shoe...because none of them are in the correct box. Plus in terms of the more higher end designer shoes (tory burch, coach, etc) I didn't think the deals were that great. I'm sticking to ebay or coming here for a sale. I hear there is one on 12/5. ;) The friendly cashier talked me into the mod card (which is a rewards card linked to your personal checking account and therefore not another credit card). She said I could activate the card from home, where I have my routing number handy and ask them to apply the points from my recent visit. Not quite, lady. The phone folks said you have to go back to the store, return your items, and rebuy them using the card once you have it. Not exactly feasible when your vacation is over. BUT because Nordstrom has excellent customer service the phone rep called the store who apologized for the misinformation. They were then able to credit me the points and now I have a $20 reward on the way! read more

I purchased some clothes at the Rack in early November. I was told I was to get $10. reward because of my purchase. I stated that I would be away until January....and was told by the employee that I could use it anytime...it didn't expire. I went to use it last week and was told the reward had expired. I know it's only $10.00....but I was I was led to believe I could redeem any time. No more RACK for me. read more

This is the third Nordstrom rack I have been to and this location feels like Ross. It's very unorganized and cluttered. It's very busy and hard to navigate. The prices were not that great. I have bought sperrys at a Nordstrom rack before that were $12 and the ones here were $76 I mean if I am going to spend $76 I might as well go to actual Nordstrom. Worst experience with "online order pickup" I have ever had. I paid for an order, received an email on 10/30 that they would be held for 3 days, but when I planned to get them today (3/31) I was told they had been returned and that I would need to talk to Nordstrom Rack online. Called Nordstrom Rack on line and was told I needed to deal with the store where I was supposed to pick them up. No one can help me get what I ordered. I have been a long time loyal Nordstrom customer, but now doubt the company. I am very saddened by this. read more

Great deals on some gorgeous clothes. Yes---many of their items are still on the pricey side but a fraction of the cost of Nordstrom itself. I'm loving the fact that I found beautiful work work skirts for myself that fit like heaven. We scored a stunning dance and graduation dress for our daughter that she loves so much she didn't want to take it off. Nice selection of menswear, kids clothes and undergarments as well. Lots of free parking right outside their front doors. I'm loving the fact that every clerk we've come across here so far seems to like their job. I often avoid the Rack because I get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of clothes upon clothes in the store. I end up shimmying sideways through racks of clothes, pushing the already too-full stacks out of the way to find my perfect size. To my surprise, this past trip was highly successful for me and I got a lot of cute stuff. The highlight of my 2+ hour shopping trip was when I went up to pay. The line was pretty shortt due to the employees in green available in different spots throughout the store to check you out quickly if you were using debit or credit. I had racked up close to $300 which is a major splurge for me, but I was happy with the items I had chosen. I even picked out a retro pair of Coach sunglasses for $65 - never do I spend over $15 for sunglasses but these were seriously fantastic so I dubbed it a fashion emergency. Decline on the credit card. What?! Apparently I hadn't used it in so long that I didn't realize it had expired. Well, shucks. I wasn't about to put all that beautiful stuff back. The wonderful employee ringing me up, Leslie, sympathized with me and educated me on the Nordstrom debit or credit cards, as well as the Visa. She genuinely took the time to chat with me about the benefits of each card and walked me through the application process (even helping me choose between the Nordy's in-store credit card vs. the Visa - I chose Visa since apparently I needed a new credit card now!) Leslie was great, even though the application process took a little while and the store was busy. I appreciated her friendly attitude and sense of humor. Can't wait to come back with my new Nordy's Visa! read more

Neat and Organized This store seems to be more organized than the Mission Valley location. The clothes are usually on the correct size rack and the shoes are in the correct boxes. I love that now you can check out in several locations throughout the store (you don't have to stand in line at the front) Customer service is usually pretty good- everyone has been very professional and friendly. But remember that this is a discount center, so don't expect help in finding something. Sometimes you can find some incredible deals if you look hard and know exactly what you want. It's always fun to look at the price tags and see the original prices which seem totally outrageous and then look at the current price which is usually 50 -75% off the original. Sometimes they seem to have items which are made specifically for the Rack- like the button down sweaters or shirts. I like coming here, but I feel like I have to devote a couple hours to go through the racks and find the stuff I want. read more

I love this location a lot more than the Mission Valley location because parking is better and it's closer to other shops. Every time I come here, the reps are really friendly and I find great deals left and right. I'd love it if they had a bigger purse selection, but the shoes and jewelry sections are my favorite. Went here to make a return, and surprisingly they would not do the return. For Nordstrom to have a really good return policy, this store doesn't align with that. Maybe Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack have different return polices, I should have looked into that before coming here. My thing is the supervisor questioned why I was returning something with so much attitude, and then both her and the sales associate opened all my hair and beauty products multiple times to inspect them before telling me I couldn't return them. I don't mind taking the products back home to use or give to a friend/family member, but with how fast germs are spreading with COVID-19, why would I want to take the products back home after they opened them all getting more bacterial in the products. I've never had such an absurd experience at a Nordstrom store before. read more

I visit Nordstrom Rack about every two weeks or so because they always have such great deals!! I really like this location compared to the other ones in San Diego. They have better selections of clothes, shoes, makeup/hair products, and accessories!! I've found such good steals here on name brand items :) You just have to be really patient and take your time when looking around. I also love how they have express checkout so you don't have to wait in the long lines up front. You're even allowed to bring an unlimited number of clothing items inside the dressing rooms! Worst experience I've ever had at a Nordstrom's store. The stores trashed and the 4 employees I came into contact with today were rude and not helpful at all. One of the four was a manager by the name of Norma. Horrible. My wife dragged me in here to pick out some jeans and I was dreading it. I thought this store would be similar to TJ Maxx or Ross. I figured I would have to dig through aisles of clothing to find a pair of jeans I like only to discover they had every size but mine. Well, I found two pairs of jeans in under 15 minutes and I was relieved. I was relieved until I realized my wife was in the shoe aisle...2 hours later we left the store but at least I was able to sit down rather than hunting for clothing. So I had to get some shoes for a wedding and decided since it is close that I would start here. First think I noticed was the LONG line at the checkout but headed back to shoes figuring it would go down while I shopped. Got to shoes and.......what a mess it was. Is this Nordstroms Rack or Kmart? Ugh.......I did find some shoes.....grabbed a pair of "try on" socks and they apparently only stock size 5 try on socks (I am a 13) so that was a debacle. Shoes fit.....price wasn't great at all but I didn't want to go anywhere else. Headed to the checkout line.......yes the line was still 10 people deep. 2 cashiers that had to be the sloooowest cashiers I have ever witnessed. A 3rd shows up......helps one customer then stands at her register and hangs up clothes that apparently were returned. 2nd cashier follows suit so not there is only 1 slow cashier. Line now 13 deep. This is so frustrating. Now a 4th cashier comes......takes a customer and then tells the male cashier to go on break. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????!!!!!! Who in their right mind leaves customers standing around to go on break? I stood in line for 15 minutes when it only took me 5 min to find my shoes. Cashiers didn't even look up and say "i'll be right with you".....nothing.....just silence. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and POOR MANAGEMENT of the cashiers and the lines. Just as an aside.....I was a Manager at a Retail store and this NEVER would of happened under our Management. Customers come first unless you want to go the way of other retailers closing down. I just had a VERY disappointing experience in this store. I was looking for ugg boots and it just so happened they were announcing over the loud speaker that they had Ugg's for Men, Women and Children in all sizes so start you shopping today. I did not see any men's and when I asked the girl in the shoes where the men's were she said we do not have any. I left and then my husband who was with me called and spoke to Heather Yoman, the store manager. My husband was telling her what happened and asking why they are announcing that they have these available when they don't. They are falsely advertising something they do not have. Heather cut him off by saying is there something I can help you with, happy jholidays then hung up.!! REALLY! This should be embarrassing to the Nordstrom name. Walmart has better customer service. Management here needs to be replaced or hidden in the back and Never allowed to see or speak to the customers. Rude, obnoxious and a general attitude of being better than anyone they're speaking to. Guess what, you're not. You're an employee, that's all. Not an owner, not a partner, JUST an employee. Take in that sensation next time you cash your paycheck, own it, feel it, know it. I found out today, that this store lacks customer service. I was rung twice on a top. I called and spoke to Kelly L. I found out later she was a supervisor or manager. Kelly had promised to call me back. I never got that call back. I decided to go into the store to make other returns anyway. At that time, Kelly was in a meeting. Emily (the assistant helping me out) seemed very green and unsure. She asked help from Tammy who turned out to be extremely rude. My advice to Tammy: if you cannot handle customers, you might want to get out of retail. Tammy decided that she would have a conversation yelling across the counter while she was helping someone else AND I had my back turned to her. Yeah... Thanks, Tammy. While I was leaving, Kelly apparently got out of her meeting and called the front. I was told to have a seat and she would come out as soon as she was finished looking into my issue. I take a seat. Wasted my time for a good 15 minutes to only have her call me on cell phone to tell me she credit the money back to me. All I got from Kelly was, "Sorry about that. *Click*" Thank you for not calling me back when you said you would. Thank you for wasting more of my time just to get a phone call while I was in the store. Thank you for not coming out to tell me yourself. Thank you for hanging up on me before I could somewhat express my gratitude. Thanks. Lesson: While Nordstrom is much, much more expensive... you truly get what you pay for. I learned today that there is a HUGE difference between Nordstrom and Nordstrom RACK. If I want a bargain, I would rather drive 30 minutes to shop at Loehmanns. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This location has a pretty good selection on clothes and shoes for the entire family. If you go in one day, see something you like, but still need to think about it... definitely, grab it! I bought a few tops for my daughter. I wanted to exchange a couple of them for a bigger size but I lagged on it. I went back a week or so later and it was completely gone! The checkout line (even the line to the dressing rooms) can be horrendous. I can not say there is a good or bad time to go. Oh, I know douche since I've been called a douchebag many times. What's nice about the Nordstrom Rack is that even douche bags need to dress accordingly and come in all ages and sizes and socioeconomic strata, you might even find a bag in the women's section for that douche of yours too. ROFL! I wonder whether the items I looked at and the ones that made the cut were really marked down, but that's alright with me. I was there to spend some cheese. DO NOT! I repeat...DO NOT!!! Shop here on the weekend. The line is ridiculous and snakes around and in between clothing racks. The selection is suspect and the pricing is borderline moderate. If you're a Hugo Boss guy, you'll find dress shirts here at $50 a pop. Unfortunately, there are only 6 prints to choose from--3 of which you probably have. Another unfortunate is that Hugo Boss is as high-end as it gets. So don't expect to find any Ferragamo, Behar, Freeman or even Tod. You will find a few Theory pieces, but I would rank theory a shade below Boss. But the selection is almost depressing and I can't say that it's worth it to rummage through all of the racks of polyester and linen just for a scrap of a Boss knit or a Theory flat front. I'd probably give this place another star if it weren't for Century 21 (the standard for discount shopping). I can only imagine what this place looks like during the holiday season. Very annoying experience at checkout. The sales clerk repeated over and over and over again her desire to "help" me out with a charge card application. I was as polite as could be in declining but she kept pushing. I had 3 items & simply wanted to pay cash. Then, she pushed hard again requesting my email address. Once again I politely declined, at which point she stated that if I choose to return item(s) it will be very difficult if my email address is not on file. Now I realize all stores want to capitalize with things such as email addresses and credit card capture...but the tone and insistence of this clerk turned an otherwise favorable shopping experience into an annoying and uncomfortable one. I left the store quite agitated & thought about immediately going back to return all the items as a sign of protest. I'll keep the clothing. But I will not return to this store. read more

This brand spanking new Nordstrom Rack opened just in time for the holiday shopping sprees. I was happy to hear a Nordstrom Rack was opening up in North County and I was somewhat impressed with this store, but the selection doesn't match Nordstrom, of course. The store doesn't carry enough of the cute, frisky clothes that Brass Plum has, but I was able to come across a few great finds, like a pair or $30 fitted jeans -- not bad. And I found the most perfect turtle neck to warm me up up during the winter months and it was only $16. I was surprised to find that Nordstrom Rack sells bath products, such as Pureology hair products and Neutrogena face wash. It was an unexpected bonus and it allowed me to skip my trip to Target. I think most North County residents would agree that the Nordstrom Rack in San Marcos makes a fine addition to the area. read more

There's a lot to be pissed off about. The economy is in the shitter, jobs in San Diego County are on the decline and the housing bubble has popped. There is however one bright spot in an otherwise crappy holiday season. Nordstrom Rack! The thing that rocks about this Nordstrom Rack is the over abundance of plastic, Botox-injected, bleach blond Cougars on the prowl. Cougars are all over Nordy's Rack like white on rice. Where else is the discriminating Cougar going to get her high-fashion premium denim for over half off? Where else is the randy Cougar going to get her padded bras and thong panties? Where else is the discerning Cougar going to find enough high end perfume to keep the smell of death away long enough for a young strapping man to take the bait? Plus, the less money she spends on clothes, the more she can spend on breast augmentation and hair treatments! Honestly though, this Nordstrom Rack is waaaaay better than the one in Mission Valley. Better selection, better clothes and better deals. The perfect trifecta! Get in here and get some great deals!! read more

How I LOVES me a good deal. However, the way the store is setup is like hell on earth. I do not have the time nor the patience to dig through all the racks of stuff, only to find one or two things I like and then have to wait in line for a dressing room with a bunch of cougars and their screaming-ass-kids. Gross! The line to check out is also a total nightmare. They should hand out tylenol at the entry. They do, however, have a pretty satisfactory shoe selection. I award points only for that. Otherwise, I'd rather save myself the headache and shop at the regular Nordstrom. Yes, it's ten miles further. Well worth it. read more

I felt compelled to write about this store since it was my first time making a purchase from Nordstrom Rack. Out of the many years I've been browsing around the Mission Valley store, I never bought anything because it's so damn messy and so damn busy over there. Compared to this San Marcos store, it's night and day. Coming here on Memorial Day wasn't very crowded at all. The jean tables were neatly stacked, lines weren't a 100ft long and most important of all it wasn't crowded at all. I was able to make 2 separate purchases with a wait time of at least less than 5 minutes. Sure the Mission Valley location may make more revenue because of it's location within the mall, but personally I hate going into a store where it's a War Zone inside. Kudos to the GM who pays attention to these reviews to keep this store in check. I hope it stays this way. read more

This is my lunch spot guilty pleasure- When I'm hungry for a little shopping ;). Located in San Marcos off Las Posas, there is a large parking lot never too busy to not find a space. This Nordys Rack is by far the cleanest and most organized Rack in San Diego- I am not exaggerating. I've been to them all- this one I can find what I need in my size easily. The prices are great and always a huge selection of clothes, shoes, jewelry, and accessories. For the most part , the employees are helpful. I can skip the long line up front and use the sneaky cell phone registers the girls in the green shirts use around the departments. My only concern is the girls working the fitting room. They seem a little rushed and not too friendly when taking your clothes and getting you a dressing room. I waited about 5 minutes to get a room while the girl went back and forth with the go backs (I was front of line). All in all, this location works for me, and I'm a big fan of the store. read more
