My daughter bought her Dad a jacket here for Christmas. Too small. On return they noted they "no longer can do a data search for the item" and asked me to call other Rack Stores for availability and suggested I take a photo of the tag. I followed their advice and took the photo(like an idiot). Shopping at Nordstrom yesterday, their Service bar noted that "of course they still have the availability to do the search, but have chosen not to provide this service to customers any longer". Nice. Called a Nordstrom Rack today to ask to check for the availability of the item and was informed "Our company has decided to stop doing any item searches over the phone" and would not check for the item in their store. Nice. Not exactly what you could call any type of customer service what-so-ever. I particularly loved the wording of the "chosen not to provide this service to customers any longer" Good to know. There are many places to shop. I will go places that do "choose to provide services to customers", and when they change their policies, inform customers of the change. We would not have purchased the jacket had we known Nordstrom will not help you find an item in a different size. They could have informed us of this at the time of purchase. It was not on the clearance area. So, when you see those "helpful" folks in green chatting with each other in the store...they can't help you with their little hand held computer which can give you an answer in about 30 seconds.... working might take them away from....chatting. Absolutely must stop by every time I'm downtown. This is one of my favorite places to shop. They have a good mix of work clothes, basics, dressy stuff, shoes, and bras under $50 in a really good range of sizes. And it never takes too long to find good stuff I want. This store is hit or miss. You will either find a bunch of items you love or it feels very picked over. Pricing here also seems off. You can pick out a shirt for $5.00 or for $250.00 Makes it difficult to find items you like and can afford. read more

This new location is cramped, and badly laid out. I found some good stuff, but being Easter weekend, plus the actual weekend, this place was CHAOTIC. I was looking for a jacket/coat and found some beautiful ones, but I just couldn't take the pushing, and being run into any longer. I'll have to make my way there when it's a week day. A great touch are those sales people with their mobile devices to ring you up in a jiffy, now that is pretty awesome. They had some pretty nice picks. I now know what a coyote feels like...seeing a coat made from it's fur. Don't throw tomatoes at me, I had to pet the jacket. Never would dream of buying such a thing. I'll be back and see if I can get some bargains, but not on a weekend! read more

They have a great men's shoe selection filled to the brim with all the designers you could ever want. I honestly do not like Nordstrom Rack. I am not so sure why. I think its the setup and just there are too many things going on. And I honestly think they rarely have good stuff. eek for sure! Didn't have time to wait in the slow moving line, so walked up to a sales ASSociate in a green t-shirt and asked her to ring me up. She didn't have the tablet, and didn't even bother to find me another sales associate who does. So I turn to another girl and ask her to ring me up. Nope, same tablet situation. My partner and I each bought Lucky Brand jeans at the rack last week. Dark denim wash/color. The first day I wore them I noticed a bad smell and it took me a few hours to figure out that it was the jeans. It smelled like chemicals and/or mothballs and it was pungent. I was really disappointed and I was stuck wearing them all day. I read online that others have had issues with the same type of smell coming from Lucky Brand jeans. It apparently has to do with the denim fixer that one of their suppliers is using. I figured I would wash them to see if the smell came out. Unfortunately the smell had not dissipated at all. I took them to the rack and the manager was called over because their policy is to accept returns on items that have not been worn and still have the tags on them. I asked the manager to smell them and let me know what she thought. She agreed there was a smell but said she still could not accept them. This is terrible customer service. Nordstrom Rack is selling defective jeans that reek of chemicals but because I washed them to try to fix the problem, I am penalized instead with jeans that I cannot wear due to the smell. Smell any jeans before you buy them there- especially Lucky Brand. read more

This is my least favorite Nordstrom Rack in Seattle. It seems like they have too much merchandise on the floor for the amount of space in the store, therefore making it take more time to find certain departments or certain items. Personally I would rather go to a larger rack. However, the location of the store is very convenient and they have typical Nordstrom Rack bargains. Service is below average compared to other NR's, I rarely have an associate greet me unless I am buying something. read more

I love Nordstrom Rack. It's the cheaper way to shop at my favorite store. It's my go to place for shoes, jackets and work clothing. I can't get enough of it when I'm there. The employees are very friendly and I love how now you don't have to wait in line. The employees have little scanners that you can check out anywhere in the store. read more

Rita and Vernice (working the sunglasses station upstairs at different times) were beyond accommodating and helpful when a pair of sunglasses I wanted to buy were scratched. In a busy store full of pushy, cranky shoppers, I felt very well taken care of by knowledgeable, super competent women both doing the best they could to give me the best experience possible. This is one of the better Nordstrom's racks in the area. Of course it is overwhelming, cluttered and kids are running everywhere screaming but that is to be expected. I was searching for a dress to wear to a wedding and while I didn't find one for that occasion I did find a 100% silk Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress that was absolutely amazing!!! 75% off ticket price and they price matched the list price as seen on Diane von Furstenberg's website. The employees were all very helpful and friendly. They allow you to take as many items into the fitting room that you have, so there isn't any going back-and-forth if you have a pile of jeans for example...If you go here directly after going to Nordstrom you'll have a little more shock as far as the contrast, but if you go in expecting to dig around a little bit like you would at a Goodwill or Salvation Army you will be pleasantly surprised. They also have a fabulous website. Lingerie, Accessories, make-up and skin care are all easy bargains. They have a fabulous selection of designer handbags. Some of the clothing is still too expensive for me personally but always a pleasure finding Designer clothes at reasonable prices. Biggest downfall is parking is it expensive in the area but again this is one of the better Nordstrom's racks you'll find. read more

Meh, big department stores of unorganized clutter aren't' really my thing. I much prefer organization by piece so that I can quickly find my size and whisk it away to my dressing room. the staff are impossible to find in this store, but they do have some really good deals. Its been a while since I've been to the rack downtown. I will say that this is a HUGE improvement over the previous location. Lets start with the physical location. Who ever said "lets put the rack across the street from the Nordstrom flagship store" is a genius!. Now the store its self. Its so dog gone clean and organized! The show department at the old location was basically a shoe war zone so to walk into my shoe size and find shoes my size is amazing! The rest of the store its self looks great as well. Employees are constantly keeping that store clean which I appreciate!! My only problem with this location is there is very little phone service for me to do things like check in on yelp... and if that's my only problem with the store you can best believe I will be returning soon! read more

This place is a life-saver. Sometimes. (And I don't mean that in a mean way.) When they have what you're looking for, they've got it for a nice deal. I've found similar items for tens of dollars less than what other stores are selling; it's especially funny when I see a coat that's cheaper than the exact same coat at a certain other department store. Speaking of that, their coat selection is nice. Tons of shirts, sweaters, blouses, and a good variety of pants. There's even a nicely extensive sleepwear section, for your cozy essentials. There's a menswear department here too, but it's a bit of a confusing clutter. Maybe I'm not savvy enough to know how to browse it, but their suit selection is kind of hit or miss. The layout of this store is kind of a mess. What bothers me is that Clearance items are mixed in with the regular ones (that is, you have to wander aimlessly to accidentally stumble into a Clearance shelf or rack), which kind of defeats the point of hunting for the great bargains. It'll be a hunt, I guess! Especially because some of the items here are so pricey that, even on Clearance markdowns, you're still looking at shoes that are over $100. Or you might luck out and find the shoes that'll Clearance'd down to $40. There's really no way to know until you check the price tag. There's been many times when I've fallen in love with something, seen the price and put it back. I know this isn't a Wal-mart, but I'm still trying to stick to a reasonable budget. But despite the headaches, many of the deals are awesome enough for me to keep coming back. Good shirts and pullovers for around $20, basic essentials for cheap and in good quality, lots of jewelry, and those nifty jackets and coats. And the crowds really do vary by the day and hour, so I usually don't have to struggle too much to navigate the place. I mean, it's Downtown Seattle, so I'm used to squeezing my way past people anyway. And if you're interested in it, they do have instant check-outs; basically, wandering employees in green shirts can check you out, so you avoid having to stand in their often lengthy line. Only problem is that you have to get an email receipt with your purchase - which is fine and all, but you might still be getting those email receipts for future purchases, whether they ask you again or not. I've got about five of these just taking up space in my email. If you're looking for an essential at a decent price, this is a good place to check. They may not have your really obscure or rare find, but they have plenty of valuable wardrobe staples. I find myself wandering in here often, and it's rare that I leave empty-handed. read more

The layout in this new store sucks in my opinion. It's TOO CLUTTERED. They could definitely do without a few racks of clothes. Apparently it's more sq. footage than the old (and better) location but somehow it doesn't seem like it to me. The men's department feels smaller, but that's neither here nor there. I've been into this location multiple times and I always leave buying something. It's a strange set up, and you feel like you have to walk in a circle just to leave, but they have a lot of great brands from Paige, Free People, to Rag and Bone, all very affordable. I'm on a budget but I wanted to get a really nice purse. I've been hunting at different NR's and I'm glad I stopped in here. The purse selection is similar to the Northgate location but they had a B. Makowsky I hadn't seen elsewhere that was exactly what I wanted. I picked up a few beauty items and wish I could have picked up the many Ardell lashes they offered. Those were definitely a bargain. Despite the downtown location, I didn't have any trouble navigating the racks. If I had a few more hours, I would have loved to looked around more. read more

I am a bit confused between the difference between Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack as they both seem like they carry similar stuff. They had some Jessica shoes at the time that caught my attention, however, the reason why I couldn't adopt these shoes is 'cause I am a wide not a norrow foot. read more

This place is a bit cramped compared to the old location. The handbag section is pretty sparse and while I've seen a pretty good selection of shoes, I still am not that impressed. I really wish that they had invested in a better location. I love Nordstrom, so don't get me wrong all the sales associates have been helpful any time I've had questions or checked out, but I'd rather travel a little farther up to Northgate and shop at that Rack. read more

I was excited to find this Nordstrom Rack in the middle of downtown Seattle but, alas, it wasn't for me. It was fairly crowded, and the basement setting felt a bit dungeon-like. Some employees were very helpful, some looked right through me. Merchandise, as can be expected at NR, is hit or miss, and changes constantly. My spouse found several items at terrific discounts, me, squat, and at measly discounts. read more

Glad I had a chance to go to the "old Rack" for work and casual clothes for most of the 2000's. The "new" Rack across 5th Ave from the anchor store is nothing like the hidden treasures on 2nd Ave site as some other person said. Prices are not at all in line and in my opinion are higher because they are across the St from the main store. Sad, but the good news is the Rack stores farther away from Seattle are better! I think it's a corporate plan to be that way. Too bad. They lost a long time local customer, but probably don't care anyways. read more

I can't speak to whether the new location is better or worse than the old location as I am a new Seattle resident. HOWEVER, I would say the inventory is better than the nice, new, roomy one we had in Dallas...and isn't that what is most important? I have visited this location twice...once on a Saturday and once on a Tuesday. I am giving them 4 stars because not only was the inventory awesome but the customer service was absolutely fantastic...even on the insane Saturday afternoon. I brought my dog in the 2nd time and a salesperson even appeared with water for my pup! You can't put a price on that. They also seemed very well-trained, organized, and eager to help. Happy to call this place a stop on my new shopping route. read more
