I went here twice this week and I had a terrible customer service with both waiters. On Saturday, August 3 I came in for lunch with my boyfriend. The waiter didn't check on us the whole time. However, she kept talking and checking on the other party. We both ordered an alcohol drink and she didn't check or ask for our ID, which I think is legally required for anywhere that sells alcohols. On Sunday, August 4 I came here with my friends and we made reservations 2 days in advance. When we came in at 7, our tables weren't ready yet. Once the table was ready, the waiter told us that table for 7 could sit here. I thought she meant table for 7 people so I told her " I'm sorry it was for 6 people not 7" and she said "yea that's what I mean, I guess table for 6 at 7". However, when I turned around to sit in my spot, my friends saw that she was making an irritated face. Once again, she didn't check up on us like the other waiter. For both times, I have such a terrible experience with the customer services. I do enjoy the foods here but I won't come back because I don't feel welcomed here. Three of us went right when it opened. I'm the only gluten free person in my family but wanted to check out this place since it had been mentioned about its fresh nori. Well, one star off right off the bat because the app to order with a group is not intuitive at all. The three of us wanted one tab since my son doesn't have a credit card. We tried doing group ordering and it wouldn't work. The hostess came by and asked if we were having trouble and we said yes but she didn't really help. I said how do we do it on one tab? She said you order only from one qr code. Then I asked what items on the menu are gluten free and she said none of them are. I said none of your items are gluten free or can be made gluten free? She said they are all premade the sauces and cannot be adjusted. So if you are looking for informed gluten free dining. This is not the place. I ate soybeans which I know are gluten free. I had a cucumber roll that was just rice, nori and cucumber so I know I'm good with that and the blue crab was just crab and Mayo. So they were training a new person which left only one person to make the rolls. It's not coming out fast here. It wasn't full when we did the ordering but just know the faster you get your order in then hopefully your food gets out first. I did have to remind the sushi chef we were missing a roll. I understand that new people need to be trained, but sometimes, some people don't look like they can be, if you know what I mean. It's not a fast in and out because it takes time for them to read the orders and if it's only one person for 15 people, plan on waiting. The taste was okay. Nothing that blew me away. $75 with tip for three of us. Three blue crab roll, one salmon carpaccio, one scallop roll, unagi roll, and salmon roll oh and the cucumber roll. They have bag hangers for purses under the counter. Stools are a little tricky to get off of, it's nice to see them make the sushi in front of you, but we weren't sure if we were supposed to interact with the chef. As we all know, keeping seafood, and seafood with any cream/mayo sauces are critical. I was excited by how fast my take away order was processed, but a little concerned that it was, well, about seconds ago before i walked in the door. The warmth of some of the pieces was a concern, and proved to be a negative later. Their bento box is a great value... but I'd suggest only focus on clear fish, no sauces, no creams/mayo.. nothing that needs highest level of cooling. Not sure if it's still busy, but I recommend making a reservation to err on the safer side. The restaurant is on the tinier side, creating an intimate and warm environment. They wont give you any item unless you order it off of your phone despite that the sushi chef is directly in front of you. It completely ruins the authenticity and service experience. It forces you to have your phone out and open on the table constantly which I find incredibly disrespectful when dining with others. Not older generation friendly. Immediately upon entering, my partner and I exchanged a look with each other, as we were greeted by an incredibly off putting fish smell. Now, I know this is a SUSHI spot, but this place is really new and I don't encounter that strong a fish smell at any other sushi restaurants I've been to. It calls into question the level of cleanliness (which is super important when dealing with raw fish) or the freshness of the fish. I certainly can't imagine eating an entire meal there while being surrounded by that smell. Overall, the customer facing venue is very clean and the service for check out was good. Online ordering was also easy and straightforward, so definitely some stars for that. We ate our bento boxes immediately upon arriving home and were sadly underwhelmed. The quality of the fish was ok. It wasn't worth paying extra for the toro, hamachi or truffle ponzu. The best hand rolls on island. My favorite was the unagi it was so delicious, the next runner up would be the spicy ahi. We tried almost all the hand rolls except the cucumber and one more item that was out. The nori was super delicious considering that is what they are about. It was crunchy and delicious. The food was made right in front of you, and you got to see everything. It is a small place so you will get cozy with the people next you. It is meant to be ideally a 45-60 min sit down to serve the next people but you don't feel rush. There is currently no reservations so make sure you come early to get your name on the list and walk around ward. It was only an hour wait for us and parking is available at whole foods or the DnB parking lot. I would definitely go back again for those unagi rolls. read more

I have to give Nori an enthusiastic thumbs up! We live nearby, so we tried it about 3:00 in the afternoon. The seating is at a long bar that takes up most of the restaurant, which isn't very big. So it's an intimate atmosphere. There were already some other people enjoying their meal. You order online through Toasttab, but there's always someone to answer questions. Their signature is their rolls. A roll is about five inches long, wrapped in nori, and it contains only rice (you can specify less rice if you want) and the fish or vegetable. For some dishes, there are other things you can modify, or you can request it of the person at the bar. For example we asked for the blue crab roll without jalapenos. The menu contains other choices like rice bowls, nigiri, sides and desserts. They also have a full bar. We ordered two rolls (blue crab and scallop), sashimi trio, carpaccio and smashed cucumber. Everything was outstanding. The fish is so fresh, and the ingredients are so clean that it was the perfect bite. We thought that the fish in each dish was amazing in its taste and freshness. They were also very generous with the serving size of the fish. Each piece in the sashimi was bigger than I've seen in most sushi bars. Service is almost immediate. There were three people working when we were there. If the place is more crowded, this might change, but our food came out a few minutes after we ordered. One of my favorite temaki places. Gotta eat the rolls right away- the nori will get soggy but it's a characteristic of all nori. Get the salted chopped wasabi and truffle ponzu. If dining with friends, get a tray of uni and add uni to every roll.
