Called to ask my script to be extended 3 days over the holidays so I could receive my benefits in the new year. I was to no by the manager and owner because my "eyes could go bad in those three days." I have been a customer here for over 10 yrs and my script hasn't changed in over 20yrs. They then told me i could pay out of pocket to get my contacts and then pay a exam to get my new script. This company is only worried about money and not customer service or their patients. Extremely disappointed i was only treated as a cash grab after being a loyal patient. This was all after i explained i would be losing my benefits through work. Will never again step foot into any Normandy optical business. Change policies without notifying customers. Wasted my yearly exam using their office that literally refuses to give me information that is part of a visit. The office manager will not let you speak to anyone but him, because he insists Drs don't talk to their patients. The doctor is never there, no one has a clue. when you ask for something they would say the nurse who helped you is off so call back the next day.....they don't have a system in place to take care of people with eye problems if a nurse takes vacations??? I have been going to Normandy ever since they had a location in Eastpointe. Lately, I have not received the same service and care that I received before, and I understand there are multiple locations meaning new employees that may not know my family has been going to Normandy for years, however that doesn't excuse the lack of care when I'm receiving an explanation (or when I went in today to pick up my glasses, the lack thereof..) or the poor customer service. The ladies at the desk are polite and wonderful, but Gary, who I have seen twice, is unenthusiastic, and fails to explain my charges. I clearly was confused and he offered no help. read more

This is a case of an owner (Anthony Suso) owner of Normandy Optical NOT having control over his business or people. I see that I'm NOT the only person that has had problems with Normandy Optical. I had been a patient of Advanced Vision in Sterling Heights, MI. for over 20 years and they were purchased by Normandy Optical last year. I live in Las Vegas and I was still doing business with this company. I had an emergency! My sunglass frames broke at the connection from the arm to the frame. I called them and sent my frames to them express mail. This was on Friday February 5, 2021. I explained to the optician to order the frames when I made the initial phone call so it would speed up the process. They did NOT. Then when I called the following week I was told that my frames could take up to 1 month. The prior owners Advanced Vision use to turnaround my frames in 5 to 7 days for the same frame. I have called the owner Anthony at his emergency number: 586-863-6227 and left 5 messages with NO return call. I received my new glass frames today February 22, 2021. 1st they are NOT black but copper color 2nd they did NOT shorten the arms on the frame and 3rd they did not change the nose pads, NOR did they return my old broken fame. The Optician at the Sterling Height location was nasty and rude and wasn't the least bit interested in helping me. She had more excuses than answers and wouldn't give me any information about where my frames are. I was told by the prior owner that these frames had a defect and they should be replaced at NO CHARGE! I was charged $239.00. I paid the money and I still got the wrong color frame. I can tell you when I owned 2 business in the Detroit area if any of my employees EVER treated a customer like I was treated they would have been FIRED on the spot! My recent visit to Normandy made a prostate exam by Edward Scissor hands seem more desirable. I will never return.

I have been getting my glasses and/or contacts from Normandy since I was in first grade. I'm retired now. Normandy was just a small little shop then, located on Morang in Detroit. I've followed them from site to site and I've always been very pleased with their service and products. I'm on my way to pick up yet another pair and I'm sure they'll be just what I expect. My eye exams have been done by Dr. Blazius. He's personable, intelligent, and professional. He found cataracts I had at an early age. He also diagnosed Macular Degeneration. they don't call to say your contacts are ready, no follow up appointments, just not the same service as it use to be

Been coming here for years and I have yet to have a bad experience. The staff and doctors are so unbelievably nice and always so friendly. They greet you with a smile as soon as you walk thru the doors every time. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to see the dr. This is the best service you can get, highly recommended by me to give this great company a chance to provide you the great and genuine service I've received over the years. read more

I have been bringing my family here since 2012 and have been satisfied up until recently when I got a contact lens examination. I was told that before I can be seen I had to pay $60 for a fitting fee. I did not have $60 so they said they would roll it in somehow. They gave me 10 days of trail lens and when I went back to order my lens they told me I had to pay $60. When I asked to print out my EOB they said they could not, however they said I had a $150 credit in my account. I contacted Eyemed and they told me Normandy billed $380 for the exam and Eyemed paid $240 and I had "0" zero copay and "0" zero coinsurance. According to the eCFR (Electronic Code of Federal Regulations e-CFR data is current as of April 11, 2019 Title 16 Chapter I Subchapter C Part 315) Contact lens fitting means the process that begins after an initial eye examination for contact lenses and ends when a successful fit has been achieved or, in the case of a renewal prescription, ends when the prescriber determines that no change in the existing prescription is required, and such term may include: (1) An examination to determine lens specifications; (2) Except in the case of a renewal of a contact lens prescription, an initial evaluation of the fit of the contact lens on the eye; and (3) Medically necessary follow-up examinations. Contact lens prescription means a prescription, issued in accordance with State and Federal law, that contains sufficient information for the complete and accurate filling of a prescription for contact lenses, including the following: (1) The name of the patient; (2) The date of examination; (3) The issue date and expiration date of prescription; (4) The name, postal address, telephone number, and facsimile telephone number of prescriber; (5) The power, material or manufacturer or both of the prescribed contact lens; (6) The base curve or appropriate designation of the prescribed contact lens; (7) The diameter, when appropriate, of the prescribed contact lens; and (8) In the case of a private label contact lens, the name of the manufacturer, trade name of the private label brand, and, if applicable, trade name of equivalent brand name. Direct communication means completed communication by telephone, facsimile, or electronic mail. Issue date means the date on which the patient receives a copy of the prescription at the completion of a contact lens fitting. I am outraged and will not bring my family here again. Now, in order to get lens I have to pay $60 to Normandy and they will use the $150 towards getting me my contact lens, if not then they keep the money in their account and I do not qualify for benefits again until next year. I will report this to the Federal Trade Commission. Why am I upset about this over charging? Other doctors are doing the same thing, like Michigan Neurology Associates, who bill for charges they did not do and it is next to impossible to contact them about their errors and Hummana is no help. read more

I started going here in January, needed an eye exam and contacts. I have nothing to say but wonderful things about this office, starting from front desk staff to the Dr's and the staff checking you out and ordering your contacts/glasses! I am 1/4 mile down the street and I can run down there and be out so fast. I had problems switching contacts, they have been wonderful trying different contacts for me. I highly recommend this office, you won't be disappointed. read more

Have been going to Normandy for about 5 Years. Dr. Koheler is very Good Eye Doctor. I have Glaucoma and help mw find a Glaucoma Specialist to further assist in my Eye care. Secondly the Staff is Outstanding. Shannon and Big Mike have Incredible. I started with Mike about 3 years ago, but lately Shannon have been helping annually with my Prescriptions and Glasses. This place pulled a complete 180 on me. I went in for my exam and everybody was nice and professional. My doctor seemed experienced and helped to ease my mind by telling me that he had just been voted the Best Optometrist in Macomb County, or something like that. I finished my exam and my prescription was adjusted and I was also told that I had astigmatism in my right eye, news that was entirely new to me. My doctor gave me the choice of trying the astigmatism contacts, and I declined. Everything seemed fine. Here's where it gets hairy. I went in a week later to order a year's worth of contacts. I paid a total of $32 and, as I was not asked if I wanted the astigmatism contacts, I assumed that they would not be ordered. Now I went in to pick up my contacts earlier, and they only had a six month prescription waiting for me. A pair that contained contacts for astigmatism. When I told them that I had been told (multiple times, I might add) that I would be getting a year's worth of contacts, they said it was just a mistake and that they would order another six months worth of contacts for me right there. They then proceeded to try to charge me $123.50 for this set of contacts, when I was told I had paid for a year. I also noted that the astigmatism contacts they had taken it upon themselves to assign me were more expensive than regular contacts, despite what I had been told by my doctor. Needless to say, I cancelled the second order of contacts and walked out of that office with only a six month set. Very unprofessional and sneaky. Went into Normandy Optical to get my glasses adjusted, came out not being able to see out of my left lense. The protective coating on the left lens was scratched when they were cleaned. The manager told me his employee only adjusted them, it must have been there when I came in. It was not! Would give them no stars if possible. read more
