Another great evening out and my first time ever at Norman's. I was pleasantly surprised as I've dined at other restaurants in the area and I must say , I left full and happy with the service. The table setting was very romantic and from the beginning to the end, I give my experience a 10. Dinner and dessert was phenomenal and I loved the guava margarita ( keep them coming !) I'd like to come and enjoy the outdoor terrace as well or maybe an after work cocktail at the bar. Norman's has one of the best upscale happy-hour experiences in Orlando. The atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated, yet still comfortable enough for drinks and small bites with friends. The cocktails were delicious, beautifully prepared, and reasonably priced for the quality and setting. Their current happy-hour drink menu includes $10 cocktails such as the Guava Margarita, Chismosa with Prosecco and passion fruit, Norman's Old Fashioned, The Albatross, and Grey Goose Martinis. They also offer $8 sommelier-selected wines and several $5/7 beers. The food was equally impressive--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their happy-hour menu includes Blue Crab Beignets with yuzu aioli, Chilled Beef Tenderloin Tataki, Truffle Fries, Fish and Chips, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Porchetta, oysters on the half shell, and a chef-selected charcuterie board. Everything we tried was tasty, and the happy-hour pricing made it possible to sample several different dishes. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday as a surprise, and overall, we had a wonderful time. However, one part of the experience could have been handled much better. We brought a personal dessert for the celebration, but the manager would not allow us to serve it and came across as unnecessarily rude when explaining the policy. We respect that restaurants may have rules regarding outside food, but no one informed us of this policy when we made the reservation or when we checked in with the dessert. A simple heads-up beforehand--or a kinder, more professional explanation--would have prevented the disappointment. Despite that interaction, the drinks, food, atmosphere, and rest of the experience were very enjoyable. I would still recommend Norman's, especially for its excellent happy-hour menu, but I hope management improves how special-occasion policies are communicated to guests. read more

Came here for thw first time with my daughter and husband to celebrate her promotion at work. Our waiter Jadon made our first time experience there such a pleasant one. Jadon was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. If it wasn't for Jadon I dont think the establishment would of gotten 4 stars. I am used to miami and nyc fast service so this was a slower pace than usual for me. The mash potatoes were excellent the broccoli were tasty The truffle fries were a little on the salty side and lacking truffle. The drinks were great. I heard about this restaurant through Tik Tok and decided to come here for my early birthday dinner. We had reservations, but they were running behind so we got seated about 20 minutes later. I didn't realize the Magical Dining option was going on so that was nice surprise. For my first course I had the chowder. It was light and flavorful. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the fact that it came out on the colder side and I prefer soups to come out on the hotter side. For my second course I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and broccolini. It came out exactly how I like it. Very tender and the right amount of flavor. Same thing with this though, the food was on the colder side. Not sure if they typically have the food prepped and just sitting for a while without adding heat to it or something. For my last course I ordered the carrot cake which was made perfectly. Not too sweet and very delicious. For drinks I had the lychee martini which was good, but for me just a bit too sweet. Came here for the first time on a Friday night around 6pm and it wasn't too busy. Vibe is classy and upscale. We ordered the filet mignon and the snapper. The filet was tender and flavorful and the snapper was cooked perfectly, tasted fresh and juicy. Came again on a Thursday night at 6pm for happy hour and that was excellent value, we ordered multiple dishes and they were all great. Pro Tip: They say that you can only order from the happy hour menu if your in the lounge area or outside terrace, but if it isn't too busy they'll let you order from the happy hour menu from the main dining room. And they are also very accommodating towards children, have brought our baby along and they sat us in the back and let us bring our stroller as well. We came to this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hostess seemed disinterested though not overtly rude. The waitress however seemed to have it out for us from the moment we ordered water. We rarely drink but it is always a shock to see the abrupt attitude change that can bring with it - in this instance the waitress treated us as "cheap" for the rest of the evening. The restaurant was nearly empty and yet service was exceedingly slow. There were several times we struggled to get the waitresses attention. The blue crab beignets were extremely good. The truffle fries were okay but not fresh. The mash had very little flavor and was chunky which is just not our personal preference. The filet would have been fine but it was undercooked (ordered medium). We were given a bite sized dessert for the birthday but we both tried a nibble and neither of us cared for it (we do have some sweet tooths and it wasn't very sweet). The ambiance was the best part, it was very nice if a bit bright and all staff were dressed smartly. I would not return here. We had 7:00 p.m. reservations to celebrate my husband's birthday, yet we were not seated until 7:45 p.m. My husband walks with a walker, and despite standing for about 10 minutes, neither of the two hostesses offered him a chair. I eventually had to request one myself. It was disheartening that none of the able‑bodied guests waiting offered their seat either. Once we were finally seated--at a table facing the kitchen door--the service began awkwardly. The waiter did not offer cocktails; we had to ask. To start, we ordered ceviche and it was very salty, with miniature shrimp; the filet mignon was very average; the yellowfin snapper was better, but at $86.00 for the beef and $65 for the fish, both should have been exceptional. The bread was hard and tasted old. A particularly unpleasant incident occurred when a male patron vomited near the kitchen. Staff did not escort him to the restroom, nor did they move to close the partition until I asked them to. The waiter was friendly, but it was clear that fine‑dining service is not his strength. The sommelier was professional and knowledgeable, and the selection of wines was good - probably the best thing of the dinner, and my reason for 2 stars. The bill was close to $600, and unfortunately, the experience did NOT justify the cost. I wonder who gives 4 stars to this restaurant. Bring a shawl, cardigan, something to keep warm. We have 2 servers helping each other. We order drinks and food. My first issue was instead of letting me know the drink I ordered isn't available and choosing an alternative drink, they bring me a lychee martini to see if I like it. I drink it because it's in my wheelhouse and it took long to receive it. Secondly, it actually took long to receive each course. They let us know throughout the service that they were running behind and offered champagne: a nice gesture, but we're not big drinkers. Celebrated our anniversary at Norman's. It was an excellent choice. Service was topnotch. Staff are all attentive and hospitable. We had the pre fixe menu. Portions were good and everything we chose was delicious. For starters, we had the conch soup and fried green tomatoes which both were a good dish to start this amazing meal. Yellow tail snapper was cooked very well and mashed potato seems to have truffle oil in it. We also had the pork Havana which the meat was tender and the sauce complimented the dish well. We knew we were in for a wonderful experience when we first entered Norman's. From being greeted by lovely Mia, to Taylor recommending and preparing our drinks at the bar, to Sergio's excellent service, it was a night to remember. Four of us were in town from different areas of Florida to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, the food was perfectly prepared and service could not have been better. We felt not only welcomed, but special. We had a Via Dellagio salad, filet mignon, blue crab beignets, yuca stuffed crispy shrimp, and a molten lava cake. Everything was absolutely delicious! Another remarkable meal at Norman's to celebrate my new job! We opted for several happy hour items (oysters, Tataki, pork) and drinks plus split a prix fixe 3-course and added bruschetta - lots of food and leftovers! They even split the prix fixe items and paired 1/2 glasses of wine for us! So, the photos show half of the soup and snapper along with the dessert which was one plate. My husband and I recently visited Norman's for Magical Dining. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a very elegant atmosphere that certainly makes a great first impression. Unfortunately , the food and service didn't live up to the setting for us. My husband enjoyed his conch chowder and yellowtail, and his Old Fashioned was excellent. I was less impressed with my fried green tomatoes, which were too thick with tempura style batter, and my filet was overcooked and dry. Both deserts were just okay. The service was also average despite having plenty of servers and staff. No refil on my very weak ice tea or with the bread. We expected more from a restaurant of this caliber. Overall, we would not recommend Norman's for this year's Magical Dining. Perhaps the experience is better with the full menu, but based on our Magical Dining visit, we didn't feel it was worth the price. read more

Dined here for the first time over the weekend. Honestly, I'm sad I didn't even know this place existed until magical dining videos. It's super elegant inside, has like a 1920s vibe. Everyone working there is nice, attentive, and helps each other to ensure you have great service. For magical dining apps we tried the fried green tomatoes and the foie gras French toast. The fried green tomatoes were cooked nicely but I didn't love the flavor. The foie gras was very good and I recommend it. For entrees I ordered the special plancha steak which was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed the mash underneath- it was slightly sweet and yummy. My partner upgraded to the peppered steak but he said it barely had any hint of pepper, so he was disappointed in that. For desserts we tried the banana cake and the key lime pie. We were warned that the banana cake was spicy (which I don't enjoy) however this had no spice at all and was very good. The key lime pie you could tell was homemade and very tart. They were offering a bottomless $40 wine option, which my partner got and really enjoyed. I tried the peach dragonfruit cocktail (forgot the name) but it was not very good, very artificial tasting, so I ordered a glass of bubbles instead. Taylor took our drink order, gave us our drinks, and then proceeded to not talk to us again. This was an absolutely incredible find of a restaurant closer to the theme park area in Orlando. Food - Very very good. All of the dishes are pricey but definitely worth it. I definitely accepted seconds when it was offered. For an appetizer we shared crab cake beignets. They were so yummy and perfect. Delicious flavor in every bite. I chose the yellowtail snapper for my entree. It was delicious! It came with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli rabe. So good!! Everything about this dish as a perfect marriage! My boyfriend had the lamb chops and he really enjoyed them. For side dishes we shared lobster Mac and cheese and Parmesan fries. SO GOOD! For dessert we shared cocoa flan. During dessert our waiter brought out champagne for us to toast for our anniversary. Very thoughtful. We also ended the night with a cappuccino. We learned from another waiter at a table nearby that Chef Norman never went to culinary school, and he is self-taught. Our Maitre D, Johnny, introduced himself and gave us an overview of the menu, the different options and his recommendations. We ordered the Prix Fixe 3 course meal and every course was excellent. I could have made a meal just eating the bread and olive oil that was given while we waited. It was fresh and chewy. Amazing! ! ! Johnny warned us not to fill up on bread so we could save room for dessert. We both ordered the salad, snapper and key lime pie. The salad was fresh and had a light dressing on it and fresh cheese in the middle. It was delicious and unique. The main course was snapper, asperagus spears and garlicy mashed potatoes. All were very good. Thankfully, we saved room for the key lime pie and I'd say it was one of the best I'd every had. Throughout the whole evening, we were well attended by a team of people dedicated to our enjoyment. Best meal I've had in a long time. I came here based on a friend who works at a neighboring, high end restaurant. She mentioned their "endless" wine event (as I drink a lot of vino). I scurried in this evening after dropping off Emily at her hair appointment in Lake Buena Vista. Dr Phillips is an 18 minute drive (I did it in 10...Wolf). This is Magical Dining time in Orlando. It's our "restaurant week" equivalent. 3 courses for $60 at higher end places (and, unfortunately, some places that think they're higher end). I combined Magical Dining with happy hour, getting a $10 gray goose martini (great deal). My meal started with an amuse bouche and bread service with wonderfully flavorful olive oil. My starter was Brazilian styled conch chowder with saffron, an orange slice, star anise, and a coconut milk cloud creme fraiche (oh fuck yeah [Southpark]). They bring out the bowl with the conch and then pour the soup from a kettle, then add the creme fraiche (oh fuck yeah). For my meal I had fillet of Key West Yellowtail Snapper with asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes with citrus butter. The first was crusted, lightly and served piping hot! For dessert, I took home key lime pie with a graham cracker crust with key lime custard and flamed merengue. My martini was shaken perfectly too. Service was exceptional. 3 or 4 bartenders who were each on point. When I my food boxed, they gave me a printed slip to pick it up on my way out (super classy. I've never experienced this). They have a lot of options for food, and the portion sizes are excellent for happy hour. I did prefer the fish and chips over the beef tartare. During our annual trip to Orlando, we like to try new restaurants in the Sand Lake Road area. This year we found Norman's, highly rated, James Bear award, in a strip mall. Service was very good. Wine was good. Food was very good. We started with fried green tomatoes which had a nice spin to it with a great topping. My wife wasn't feeling great and only had the mushroom risotto.
