If you like fresh ground coffee and eggs the way you want them, Norma's cafe is a good place to start. As long as you're not dieting the homemade breads pies and cakes are always a hit. It's certainly not the cheapest place in town yet definitely not the most expensive and regardless the employees are very nice, and fun to chat with. Been to Norma's newest location on Park Ln twice-both on busy Sundays. Short wait for a table, friendly, attentive service, fresh iced tea. First visit I ordered the turkey omelet, really good! Last time I went all-in on the chicken fried steak. Although I've rarely encountered a CFS I didn't like, Norma's is top tier. You can taste the love, pounded right into it. The star of the show is THEM BISCUITS. They're perfect, no need to say anything else. Norma's is great whether you're seeking breakfast, brunch, lunch, brinner, dinner or just craving dessert. I've heard really good reviews about this cafe, so I decided to try it out. The staff and waitress were nice and attentive and provided good services from being seated , to getting served. I went during the morning, so I only ate breakfast here and I would say the food was ok, average, not bad nor good. Reason for being average is because I prefer my eggs to not be so watery and the pancakes were very , very thick. My Husband and I chose two of their blue plate specials and were not disappointed! The homemade croutons were very nice, the cornbread and rolls were better than most, and the chicken fried chicken and chicken and dressing dishes were lick-your-plate-clean delicious. We go to Normas often and are always pleased. My husband loves their soups and entrees. I love the vegetable plate and the amazing yeast rolls. They have mu favorite dessert there - BlackBerry cobbler. read more

So excited to welcome Norma's to this side of the Trinity River!!! Been there 4 times since it's new location at Park Ln off Central where the Soup or Salad use to be. Friendly atmosphere and most delicious breakfasts. They do not care how long you stay and visit. Love their "mile high coconut meringue pie" which I make sure and order FIRST!!! Angus chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, and those delicious fresh yeast rolls are scrumptious! Vegetables are fresh and seasoned just like home!!! An hot before closing, the sell their pies half price!!! The line may look long on Sunday by 11am, BUT it moves quickly AND IS SO WORTH THE WAIT!!! So glad I don't have to make that 17 mile trip to West Davis as this Norma's Cafe is every bit as good and so much more spacious. Will go back over and over!!! This is the worse service I've had at Norman ever. It isn't busy at all. Less than half full. I've seen the manager come out and look around, couple times placed food on the tray for the servers. Had to put our glasses at the edge of the table to get refills. Asked for no lemon in my tea and got lemon. The food was the blue plate specials which the food should have been good and hot. Nope on that. Room temp. The small salad had so much lettuce on it, you could not cut the huge pieces without some falling off. The blue cheese salad dressing had too much liquid in it it was watery and no taste. Asked for broccoli and thought it would be steamed but was fresh crisp raw broccoli. When asked about the desserts waiter rolled his eyes ask he named off what they had. I asked if coconut pie was creamed? Said no. I asked if I could have a slice and it warmed where it would not be cold. He laughed said first time he had heard of someone wanting a cold pie heated. I don't like cold pies. Not exactly sure why this restaurant would ever get anything more than two stars. I ordered the chicken fried steak which they raved about on the menu saying that it was a Travel Channel favorite. What I can tell you for sure is that it was lackluster and tiny. I ordered the green beans along with the broccoli which were fine. I also ordered the coleslaw which was bone dry and I sent it back. There is no way that this is even in the top 15 chicken fried steaks that I've had. It didn't taste bad but it didn't taste great either. I expected something much much larger than what came on my plate. I more than likely will not be back at this restaurant and I definitely wouldn't drive out of my way to get to it. read more

Disgusting Breakfast I ordered the chic fried steak & eggs. The steak was too chewy to eat. My daughters' was equally leathery. We also ordered the "prized" pancakes. They were as large as they were flavorless. They also had a weird crunchy/gritty texture- like they maybe used corn meal or old batter? Luckily we had the whipped margarine and store bought fake maple syrup that they offered to go with them. Gross. I basically threw $26 worth of food in the trash. I love brunch and this was a no go. We just left your restaurant and had such a great Brunch. My mom and I sat at the bar and had an omelet and burger. We came to town the day before and we had Kimmie as a server. My mom wanted to come back today to try the burger and taste the homemade biscuits. We got to know Chris who is the manager and he was very nice and chatted with us while managing the kitchen. We go to Normas at least once a week every week the food is really good the portions are perfect size for me I always leave full the management is great they stay on top of whatever is going on. My favorite thing is NIck the young man that I request to sit in his area if he is there. Nick is great I never have to ask for anything, my glass is never empty and never have to wait for a check or anything. It is so nice to go in and he always speaks and is friendly and stays and is on top of all his tables his service is superior. Wish more restaurants had a Nick. My daughter & I went to Norma's Cafe at Park Ln. I was looking forward to a really good chicken fried steak after looking at the reviews. I got the chicken fried steak meal with hand peeled mashed potatoes, glazed carrots & green beans. The steak on first impression looked greasy. It was a thin small piece of steak with more breading than meat around the edges. The breading was really soggy & when I looked under the steak there was no breading left at all because it was so soggy. The potatoes to me tasted like instant. The carrots were okay but I did like the green beans. My daughter got chicken fried steak & eggs. She said hers was pretty good. Her steak looked better than mine. We also got chicken fried steak to go for my husband. I should have checked the order before we left because they forgot the gravy. His was really tough & also very thin. He said it was the worst chicken fried steak he ever had. Huge disappointment!! read more

Went to the location on N Central expressway on Saturday June 9th. Two people in our party ordered chicken and dumplings and 30 minutes later we were sick as a dog. Been sick for two days with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea as well as cold sweats. It's bad enough that the service was bad but they have to throw some bacteria in the pot to make it worse. Myself as well as others with my company eat at this location with vendors often but I will say that this is definitely the last time any of us go there.
