For about a year, this place wasn't doing as well as "back in the day". Their burgers and chicken sandwiches are usually dry, and they have the most bland onion rings ever (no flavor/seasoning to the batter). My husband was a frequent patron for their chorizo breakfast burrito, but then one day, he noticed that one of the normal cooks wasn't working there anymore. This cook knew the order by heart (chorizo burrito with beans, extra bacon). He still ordered the new-cook-burrito, but it ended in sadness. We try to give local places a bit of time to see if they recover, and well-howdy, this place recovered the chorizo burrito goodness. Have eaten at Norm's burgers for many years. All of their food is great! But now that the coronavirus controls every detail of our life my wife and will NEVER eat here again! Case in point; On July 19, 2020, my wife and I decided to get something a little different for breakfast. So, we drove to Norm's Burger on Magnolia in Burbank for breakfast burritos, She: egg and cheese and myself a plain chorizo and egg. The way you order in the drive thru there is by calling them on the phone. The phone was busy every time I called. When they did pick up I had already arrived at the window. This place requires you to wear a face mask while you are at the window. The order taker couldn't understand what I was saying, even without the phone, so I removed my mask to speak clearly. She immediately backed up with out saying a word and began to freak out! I couldn't believe it! Another young lady came to the window to see what the problem was and neither of them cared, nor heard what the problem actually was; they were not understanding what I was saying while wearing a mask. I have had problems ordering here before but this time it came to head! We barely was able to give them our order and leave with our food! Thank you governor Newscum for making people so afraid to not wear masks (even though we know they do nothing to block coronavirus) that they totally freak out the moment a mask is removed. I thought perhaps she was having a bad day but my experience with her is always passive aggressive. She unfortunately is the one to Take phone orders and on several occasions she's been short, and rushes through the ordering process; I understand that the am is busy however this is the reason I place a phone order. Okay. So I get Norm's early on Saturday mornings usually, but today I came in a bit later. The burritos are incredible, but the wait on the weekends just isn't worth it. I was okay with the stated wait time of 25 minutes for a breakfast burrito that I was planning to eat on my way to work, but the part that was disappointing was the service. I am a huge fan of breakfast. I love it. I would eat breakfast for every meal and I've actually done it before... point is, I know breakfast. There are maybe 2 parking spaces in the back, I suggest parking on the street or you can go through the drive-thru. It's a small, retro, little place and it doesn't seem impressive but the bacon and eggs I had was so good. The bacon was cooked perfectly. These people understand what crispy bacon means. It melted perfectly in my mouth. The buttery potatoes were so good that some bites made me want to cry. So delicious. The toast that came with it was buttery and perfectly toasted. As regulars and residents of burbank, we tend to eat here quite often. Today we had order 4 breakfast burritos over the phone and asked for extra salsas ahead of time. When we arrived, they had given us 4 our burritos with no salsas at all. We asked for some and they gave us 4. We asked if we can have some extra and one of the female stuff just looked at us and said they didnt have anymore. We usually get an abundance of salsa if we ask. We dont care too much that we didnt get the salsa we wanted, but that we asked and they had agreed and it seemed as though that when we asked for more, she straight up just lied and didnt want to give us more. I am a delivery driver, I have never had their food, but I am there at least once a week to pickup a food delivery. First of all, the lady who runs the register in the mornings is the rudest most impatient woman I've ever dealt with in the service industry. She yells at people out the window, bangs on the counter, then gets angry at me when she decides to talk quiet as a mouse behind the window and I can't understand her. She has often given me the wrong order and I have had to deny the food. Also, they say they require mask on the premises but they often have kids sitting outside without masks on smashing packs of salsa on the ground and running into the street. Breakfast Burrito wars. Before starting this review it's important to note that this type of review is for the Burbank and close surrounding areas. If anyone outside a 15 or 20-minute drive is concerned with Burbank's breakfast burrito scene...and competitors, they must either just be driving thru or a one-time local that just can't cave into their new surroundings. Breakfast burritos are a moving target. Their consistency has a lot to do with when they're ordered and the amount of burrito fanboys clogging up the order line. When pushed, some cooks can crack under pressure and just sleep walk through the building process. As with many of my food tastings it usually comes down to a comparison of eateries. This would be no different. Norms vs. the Corner Cottage. The element of competition is a sausage breakfast burrito, no sauce. I like Cholula on my burrito so the sauce doesn't enter into the debate. To keep things even, the Corner Cottage burrito must be ordered with "extra cheese". Also, the Norms burrito must be ordered "Easy on the hash browns" but the cheese...as it comes off the grill, is fine in stock form. So here we are. These 2 burritos are now actually pretty close to each other. But not to worry, there is a winner here. As I've already posted, it comes down to when you order and how busy they are. And the winner is.......Norms. I live really close to Norms but have always gone to the Corner Cottage from habit. That's not the case anymore. Norms is always there, like a friend willing to bail you out when things go wrong. The Cottage doesn't like waking up on Sundays and really hates working on the Holidays. Unfortunately, those are usually the times when my burrito craving is the strongest. Norms will answer the phone and tell you to swing by in about 15 minutes. The Corner Cottage doesn't like the phone much and last time there, I was sentenced to a 40-minute wait. If you like Sausage Breakfast Burritos with Cholula and ordered as mentioned above, you can't go wrong with either choice... But if you want one on a Sunday or on a "Holiday/Holiday weekend" or without waiting in line for what seems like an eternity...best to give Norms a try. read more

First off, best breakfast burritos EVER. I've been following a vegetarian-based diet for 5 years now but man, these breakfast burritos make me a sinner at least once a year. Before I started eating a vegetarian diet, I was an avid breakfast burrito fan. I followed the hype during HS and thought Corner Cottage was "the best bfast burrito" out there, but only because I hadn't graduated to Norms (or even Apollo's). Norm's burritos are never dry, unlike Corner's, and they are always full of flavor! I ask for mine with ez potatos though. The wait can be annoying at times, but that's only because it's dank. Three star place through and through. They have a good variety of menu items to choose from and each time I go there I try to get something different so as to find out what they're best at. Here's my rundown so far: So far, their mushroom cheeseburger is the best thing I've gotten there. Pretty tasty outing. Second place prize goes to their sausage breakfast burrito. (which they serve all day) The chorizo burrito was kind of bland. Disappointing, really. But nothing a little Pico Pica couldn't spice up. The BLT was ok. Store 2 Door down the street does it better. Veggie omelet was serviceable. And last place so far goes to their chef's salad (I think that's what is was called) for no imagination or effort whatsoever. Maybe one of the worst breakfast burritos I've ever had. We ordered 10-12 burritos this past weekend to feed a group of people helping us with an event. The burritos looked massive and I was excited to tear into mine. The first bite I took was mostly potato. No biggie, that happens from time to time. Half way through the burrito and I'm still just getting mostly potato. All of our burritos were basically 80% potato, maybe one egg, a strip of bacon and some cheese. The salsa as others have pointed out is just chopped jalapeños. Wasn't terribly spicy to me and lacked flavor. Sort of reminds me of Corner Cottage's salsa...served in the same tiny cup that requires some maneuvering as to not get the entire contents of the cup to fall out on your first bite. Really disappointing and a complete waste of money. Yes, the burritos are huge, but they cheat you by filling it with mostly potatoes. Norms is one of those little hole in the wall neighborhood spots that everyone can rely on. They serve breakfast all day and you can roll in looking like hell and no one will notice or you can drive thru and take it on home. Our family has been coming here for the past 15 years. The breakfast specials are good as are the breakfast burritos. I haven't had much lunch that I can recall from here but I'm sure it's good (burgers, sandwiches, etc.) They do charge $0.60 to use your debit/credit card which is odd but, whatever. They're are good spot for a quick cheap eat. read more

I absolutely love norms! I've been coming here since I was a kid and the food is incredible. Its at norms where I learned to fall in love with the simple grilled cheese sandwich, a beef gyro, and orange bang. The hamburgers here are yummy but the real show stoppers are the breakfast burrito. Slightly greasy and totally gooey, the breakfast burritos here have everything you'd want to satisfy early morning cravings (and they're offered all day for those breakfast fans out there!) My absolute favorite? The onion rings!!! These aren't your mcdonald or bk frozen onion rings. Nah, these are hand cut and freshly battered rings. They even make their batter fresh each morning, which gives the rings their distinctive orange (not dull and yellow) color. I still have yet to find a place that makes rings like this. I really wanted to like this place. I've been multiple times. And every time they basically just toss my order to the side and I end up waiting 30+ min. I understand it takes time to cook food. I love their breakfast burrito!!! I love how they use fresh ingredients all the time and their food isn't as greasy as most of places. I've only tried their breakfast burritos here (with either bacon or sausage), but I can't wait to come back to try something else. They have all kinds of things on the menu - burritos, hamburgers, gyros, chicken teriyaki, breakfast deals, etc. And their prices are so good!! They have a TV & AC as well. It can get pretty hot, especially if there's a lot of people. And it seems like there always is, especially in the morning. This review is just for the Breakfast Burrito. I was in Burbank, had already tried Corner Cottage( didn't like it at all), so I came here after reading the Yelp reviews. First, the Burrito is HUGE. I could only eat 1/4 of it. I didn't feel like I wanted any meat, so I chose the egg, bean, cheese, potato burrito. I added avocado too. They charged me an extra 1.00 for the avocado, but they gave me some sour cream for free. I asked for the MILDEST salsa they had and they gave me some green stuff. I have zero spice tolerance and it wasn't spicy to me at all. I also asked for not a lot of potato and they complied. I liked the burrito a lot. The cheese wasn't melted all the way, so I guess that would be my only complaint. Oh and it was pricey. 5.75, plus another 1.00 for the avocado. The prices aren't listed anywhere. I came a little after 8am on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. I could even bring my dog onto the patio and eat. read more

Wow, I just had an actual burrito explosion in my mouth lol. I love the fact that they use flour tortillas that are thin and not thick and overbearing. The ratio of potatoes to eggs to cheese is perfect. I had the bacon breakfast burrito w/extra bacon. This burrito is pretty damn good. This burrito was flavorful; I could taste the eggs, the potatoes, the cheese and the bacon. The bacon was meaty yet crispy and salty, perfect. I can't remember the last time I had a really good breakfast burrito that I enjoyed as much as this one. The customer service was average, nothing special. But the love in the food prep, is on point. I like everything about this place. The food (especially the omelets)are AWESOME! The owners there are always friendly and recommend the best food available. It seems like everything is prepared all nicely and well. Service is always excellent, and I love the drive-through for this place. The food is cooked very fast, and you can get it and go in no time. The burgers are to especially die for, and I would go back to Burbank, CA just for that. I would also recommend the Teriyaki chicken bowl. I especially love the fact that all the food is cooked right in front of you, and you can enjoy the food right there in the restaurant without worrying about the food to be pricey. Two words sum up my Norm's love. MONTE CRISTO . I know food quite well and I know this type sandwich. It's sort of related to the French croque monsieur and it tends to be hard to find except in my sister's kitchen. Norms has it and does a very good if unorthodox version of it. I usually traditionally see it served with jelly. Norms serves it with syrup and with butter on the side. I'm getting fat enough already so I omit the powdered sugar and don't put much butter. I got one just yesterday I'm not local but I try to drop by when I'm in the area. The cook asked me about the sandwich turns out not many order it so I explained a little about them to him and the very friendly younger cute girl that works there. I shouldn't eat too many of these but I can't stay away! Be forewarned I think it's a breakfast item so not available all night. Other places have this like Du-Pars and a place across the street from Forest Lawn cemetery in Cypress but those versions cost more and are the suck. I believe most people if they are familiar with this item in SoCal know it from the Blue Bayou at Disneyland a good version but I remember it being very expensive. Anyways take my advice and try one. Norms is on an interesting area of Magnolia street with such diverse businesses as like 3 gun shops and a very old respected holster maker and a ham radio shop (who the hell does ham radio in the internet age?) Im fairly sure the girl at the counter recognized me, and as soon as I ordered my breakfast burrito, my quite specific order, she started laughing and said something to the cook in Spanish. The cook looked at me and said something back to her, and they both laughed. That's fair game, you talk shit in a public forum you might get recognized and have some shit talked about you in another language. As long as they don't spit or put cyanide in my burrito, we'll call a spade a spade. So I laid it out to her: PLEASE; breakfast burrito. Bacon egg and cheese only. Just a LITTLE bit of bacon. It took about 20 minutes, but I got my food and took it to my car. I was warming up my arm like a major league pitcher to smash this thing on the side of the building if it was completely fucked up, and never go to that god forsaken establishment again. Lo and behold, of three breakfast burrito attempts, this one was actually edible. Of course they still put WAY too much bacon in it, there had to have been 4 pieces chopped up inside, but I made it work. I actually finished it, and it was decent. I picked up 3 breakfast burritos on Saturday morning for some family members that were in town. We got the steak, churizzo and bean burritos. After waiting 20 minutes for them and seeing customer after customer order and walk away with their burritos without getting mine, I asked how much longer it would be. The woman said "I'm sorry about your wait, they will be right up"... TEN MINUTES LATER I asked AGAIN when they would be ready. And there was a man working there that said he was wrapping them up right now. I said ok and took a phone call which, obviously, was my sister asking what the heck was taking me so long. I responded with the truth, that I had been waiting 30 minutes for the burritos. The man brought out my burritos and handed them to me, without looking at me, apologizing for the wait, or even a "here ya go." Needless to say, I was furious when I left. A classic go to spot in Burbank, have been going here since high school and can never get enough of their food, especially their breakfast burritos which they serve all day long. Unlike corner cottage, which I can never wake up in time for, Norms serve their breakfast burrito all day and hard to find a place like this in burbank as well. This place really gives a friendly and even homely environment, a very chill place to go to eat, talk, and even just hang out with your friends there and you can never get to sick of the food there as well.
