First time here, not impressed, waited a while for the food and when the server brought it, hash brown was raw, sausage looked undercooked. While I was waiting I had some blueberry topped pancakes and took one bite just to find them so dry. I don't understand how something so soaked in toppings can be so dry. I was seated with my mother in a booth and we were glad it wasn't so packed. We got seated at 8:25 am today and we weren't approached by a server at all! We went here for the grand opening. The wait time was not too long. The food was delicious. We can tell that the servers were brand new, but we gave them a break, since it was their first day. I love the food here. But its always packed. Sometimes they take a while to seat you even when there are tables open. Which is why i gave it 4 stars. Their servers are amazing. The worst norms I've ever been to. The hostess and the manager are terrible! Watch your place in line because you will wait for 20 mins and the dumb hostess will seat a person who just walked in the door. I even contacted corporate office to no response. Service was good and especially our waiter Renè , he was about the busiest waiter there on our side yet he was very attentive to our needs! We gave Norms a last try (last week on a Thursday night), after receiving poor service which was managed in such a superior fashion by Selia, my family and I felt obligated to give it one more try a month later. I should also add we were warned by neighbors that the service had significantly declined since opening day, and based on their experience, they walked-out prior to receiving their meal and never returned. Erick, our waiter, truly turned our negative experience into a positive one which restored our confidence in this location. Although we were friendly, Erick had no idea that this would be our last visit to Norms-Carson. He was professional and explained certain things about the menu when asked. Erick took a lot of time with us, mainly because my elderly mom could not make up her mind. Erick demonstrated respect and patience. This was a plus since my mom prefers the Torrance location. Additionally, Erick took our order correctly, made sure our food was exactly how we ordered it and so much more. Erick went beyond customer service. It was a great experience even though we noticed that Erick was pulled to the side by management for spending too much time with us. Ultimately what Norms' management team needs to grasp is that professional people such as Selia and Erick are the only reason customers will consider returning after experiencing such horrific service. read more

Bad service..we can in during the time that was supposed to be the non rush and our server took about fifteen minutes to bring our drinks and then we didn't see her again until she dropped off the bill on her way to another table. I had a bad experience in this place.. only two waiters on a busy Sunday. 3 ppl calling out names to sit ppl down, most of the time the three girls were just standing around talking. when my group finally got called to be seated they had us stand next to a dirty table and told us to wait because that's was going to be our table. Once the table was cleaned we sat down and it took them a while to give us our menus. This place needs more waiters, the poor waiter was running around table to table. This is a community restaurant that I wanted to support but the reciprocation of service to this community was not okay this morning. This Norms is not welcoming, just walking in no one greeted me. Then they gave me a hard time to order, just wanted a side salad instead of pancakes because I never eat them and they wouldn't allow it. I said well can you give my pancakes to someone else and she said they just won't put the pancakes in but will still have to charge me, makes no sense! The lady was patient because I was looking at the menu trying to figure out what to get but her and the manager were not making it easy for me to order and it was embarrassing me because they made me feel like I was in the wrong. They were having side conversations while I was trying to order. All of that just for them to get the order wrong. I ended up just asking for a refund. I know the names of the cashier and manager but wouldn't want to put it out because they know who they are and I hope they do better to make a welcoming and customer first environment. They were so kind to the firefighters and elderly that walked in and treated me like crap. Equality with customer service for the community you are serving is important. Meanwhile I will be at the Norms in Lakewood and Inglewood because they treat me way better. It's definitely worth the drive. read more

I was here since I live close by... but this Norms was the worst. The waiting staff was quite friendly as it supposed to be. But selling spoiled food is not a good idea, even less to serve that food. I wouldn't recommend this location to my worst enemy. This unacceptable and I am not suing because, it seems like the place is doing bad all on its own. I hope they corporation knows about this issue, since I will be writing a letter. If you want food poisoning be my guest. But for the sake of your health and loves one, do not dine here.
