    Pancake sandwich
    Ashley H.

Eat at Rudy's is a cute breakfast nook in Old Town Torrance. I'm not sure how busy it gets during the weekends, but I was fortunate enough to try Eat at Rudy's on a weekday. I just had a brunch here and it's one of those hidden gems that makes you remember that the food in SoCal is the best. I got their pancake sandwich (2 hot cakes, 2 sausages and 2 eggs) and my +1 had their international omelette special with hash. For something so simple, it was amazingly delicious! Portions are large and we needed to ask for a togo box. Hospitality is great here too. For our visit, there was one cook at the open kitchen and two very friendly servers at the restaurant. It was only us and 2-3 other group/couples at Rudy's. Food came out quick and hot. Server checked up on us and refilled my coffee whenever I ran low. Eat at Rudy's is on my highly recommend list for Torrance.

Chicken fried steak like grandma used to make

Comfort foods at its finest. Chicken fried steak for the win. Just the way grandma used to make it & seasoned well. Gravy is flavorful & has a great consistency & REAL mashed potatoes & steamed veggies. Happy tummy. Indoor & outdoor seating for breakfast & lunch. Walking distance from American Tire if you're having work done.

We walked to downtown Torrance to shop at the Antique Fair but had to stop at Rudy's for breakfast. After a short wait we were seated and they were very busy. The guy who seated us also fills the drink orders and buses the tables. He was so accommodating and filling everyone's drinks. I ordered the senior special C which is a slice of French toast,an egg and bacon. All for 9.99....what a deal! Hubby had the regular French toast and multiple cups of coffee. This place is a gem. Great diner homemade food with generous portions. Service is great too.

Got the mushroom cheese omelette with bacon. Really good. It comes with a large slab of tasty hash browns. The coffee was hot and a nice medium roast. Service was very friendly. Seating is available inside the restaurant and also there are tables outside along the sidewalk.

My go to spot for breakfast/brunch for their house made Corned Beef Hash. I like it extra well done for some crispy comfort. The slab of goodness was over a 1/2" thick. Very homey vibe. The staff are wonderful.

Tuna Melt Supreme (with a bite)

Forgot my lunch this morning on the kitchen counter, so decided to check out a local Torrance banger. I'm not your typical tuna melt gal but the Eat at Rudy's Tuna Melt Supreme sounded too good to pass up. Tuna salad mixed with bacon, avocado, mayo, pepper, and celery slapped between two lightly buttered and toasted slices of white bread and melted cheese hit the spot. The ambience is super casual, and there's outdoor seating (I got my order to go so strictly observations here). The staff were also very friendly. I like my bread toasted a little more but nonetheless, it was a solid sandwich.

    Rambo Breakfast

My 2nd visit to Eat at Rudy's and again they didn't disappoint. I ordered my food to go like this and last time because I was eating alone. I got the Rambo breakfast under the "hot off the griddle" section of the menu. It's basically a French toast breakfast with eggs and your choice of protein, I got bacon. The food was great, no complaints. The service, even better. The nice lady say who took my order is super kind and sweet, she call you "honey" to death and it's endearing lol For those who have not yet tried Eat at Rudy's I highly recommend.

We all really enjoyed our meal, we're excited to come back soon and try more dishes. The laid back neighborhood atmosphere was very comfortable. The customer service was great, everyone was friendly and checking if we needed anything. This will be a regular spot for us, so many delicious looking dishes to try. The street parking is good and a back lot parking.

Rudy's is an old fashion place where everyone knows your name and Jean is exceptional and will take care of you , she is a one of a kind and keeps this ship going . First time I have had a real oven baked in the morning turkey breast thick cut , slice sandwich in the Southbay . The place is known for a lot of breakfast specials The John Wayne looks amazing and all the pancakes waffles etc., I love sitting out side it's so cool and charming . Downtown Torrance is really a slice of Americana . I hope you try this diner as you won't be disappointed !

I was skeptical because I am very picky about my Gorgonzola, it has to be of good verity or it tastes fake like blue cheese dressing. I am even more picky about my steak, I only like salt and pepper. To my surprise the bread basket had flat breads, yeast breads annnndd BANANA BREAD?! What?! It was amazing! Back to the steak. It was cooked perfectly. The fig and Gorgonzola crust was addictive and did not take away from the quality of the meat. I cannot wait to come back! Thanks for having me.

The beet salad is plated beautifully and delicious. The only weak link is the fries and ranch which is okay. Hummus, veggies, pita chips, bread are a great start. I chose a simple club sandwich wrap and just added mayo. Hubby chose the chicken sandwich with cheese. All was tasty and the 2nd half of my wrap was still good for the next day's lunch. We started with cocktails. I had the Mary Sue ("Pornstar Martini") with vodka, vanilla, passionfruit, salted lime, fino sherry, and champagne foam. YUM. Dangerously good. My husband had the Rob Gentile, an elevated Old Fashioned, and was thoroughly impressed. Service was great, and the food was top-notch. Let's dive in! Meatballs with beef, pork, ricotta, potato purée, tomato sauce, Grana Padano, and arugula--WOW. Cheesy, saucy perfection. Beef Tartare with tonnato, shallot, marjoram, crispy potato, and toast. Delicious and a generous portion. I ordered Coop's Pork Shank with Lambrusco-mustard glaze, aromatic jus, and potato purée. Tender, flavorful, and that broth was incredible. It paired perfectly with the broccolini... ...which we didn't order. We spotted the table next to us enjoying it with burrata and immediately added it to our "next time" list. My son ordered the Chicken Parm with capellini. He loved the huge chicken parm portion, which successfully fed his bottomless teenage appetite, but declared the pasta "too eggy." Teenagers are basically unpaid Michelin critics. My husband ordered the Scarpinocc with braised beef cheek, brown butter, sage, and saba. He loved it, but our resident food critic chimed in with, "I don't really taste the beef." Dessert was the cinnamon bread pudding with ice cream and caramel drizzle--absolutely worth saving room for. Everything was delicious, portions were generous, and we left happy (and full enough to feed a small submarine crew). Definitely coming back!
