(Facepalm.) The food was good, but everything else was a disappointment. The floors were sticky, the tables were dirty, and the service was honestly terrible. Managers, please get a grip on this. NORMS is too good of a restaurant to let standards slip this badly. We were seated at a table and waited 10 minutes without so much as a greeting or a drink order. WTF? We finally moved ourselves to the bar area, hoping for better service. Unfortunately, that area was just as dirty and sticky, and we still waited far too long before anyone took our order. While we were waiting, I overheard one employee tell another that we had moved because no one had served us. The response? "I'm too busy." Really? Be busy serving your customers. When our food finally arrived, we didn't even receive the proper utensils to eat it. I asked for a wet napkin because my hands were sticky from the table, and... nothing. No wet napkin ever came. The food is still what keeps me coming back, but the cleanliness and service have gone downhill. Management needs to step in before loyal customers decide it's not worth coming back. read more

Very inedible food served here. I placed my order here using Uber Eats & it was terrible. I ordered a sirloin steak with rice pilaf & liver with onions. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare & it was not cooked that way, it was still very raw. The liver was very tough & difficult to chew. Very bad experience here. read more

5 stars because I'm nostalgic and grew up with Norm's in Torrance. I have always loved Norms. Christmas Eve morning we had a terrific breakfast, Olivia was our server. She was great. Food - Four Deuces for $8.99! Yes, please! Everything cooked as expected, good. Classic Eggs Benedict $13.99, good as well. Eggs perfect. Coffee is how it is supposed to taste, not Starbucks crap. Food was good but I miss getting a side salad instead of fries etc with my sandwich. They were a bit understaffed for a Friday evening but our waitress was very polite. Norms, always open. Girlfriend suggested Norms for dinner so we came in. She ordered the porterhouse steak and eggs with pancakes. I went with French toast and added eggs and bacon. My meal was good. Unfortunately my girlfriend's steak was overcooked. She ordered it medium but it came out well done. Service was good, server took our drink orders, returning for our food orders and checked on us a couple of times while we were eating, refilled our drinks, etc. read more

Went for a late lunch with the hubby today. We waited for a minute or two. The waitress came and sat us at a table. She then looked at my cross on my chest and smirked. I thought okay, hope I read that wrong. Then she started to tell me to hurry because she was very busy. I wasn't even taking long. Then, after I drank my first water, I asked her for another glass. She kept coming to our table with our orders and order to go. I reminded her about the water in between and she said oh I forgot. After we finished our food and paid, I reminded her about the water. She walked back and said she left it on the counter and forgot about it. She was rude about it. The Norms was clean and the food was good but that waitress had a problem with my Christian cross. She was either Japanese or Korean and had short black hair and was kind of slender and had light complexion. read more

I've been going to Norm's for years and the Whittier location is always great. Open 24 hours. Really reasonable prices and large portions. Their Hamburgers are surprising great! They are perfectly cooked and juicy. I like to get them with Hash Browns instead of Fries for a different change of pace. Another stellar item is their Hot Fudge Sundae. The ice cream is Thrifty's Vanilla which is one of the best Ice Creams around and the Hot Fudge they use is amazing. It comes with a mountain of Whipped Cream and a sprinkling of Nuts. A Chill place that is good for hang-outs with friends. The staff is cheerful and efficient. The Waffle is a a Breakfast stand-out. Breakfast is available 24/7. read more

Had another great experience at Norms in Whittier! Olivia took care of me and did an amazing job, as always. She is always so helpful and attentive. The manager, Luis, is also very understanding and runs a great team. I ordered the $8.99 breakfast special with ham, eggs, and pancakes, and everything was delicious. I was recently at Norms - Whittier. Table #37. Our party contained 4 people. The order was 3 sandwiches and a porkchop breakfast. It took an hour if not longer to get our food. Everyone around us and people who came later got their food. But not us. It would of been fine if the waiter told us the kitchen was understaffed this did nit happen nor did the manager address this. My girlfriend also complained. This was a very bad and unprofessional experience at Norms Restaraunt. Thumbs down with no GIDDY UP. read more

Cooks don't know how to cook. Get rid of them hire better cooks! Food comes out under cook or over cooked, they don't know what medium rare on a steak, french toast not like they used to be, you get lightly batter and dry. Bacon and sausage are terrible, too expensive for terrible food. read more

I was here with my in-laws and had a great breakfast and experience. Norm's typically does a great job and today was just that; a great experience. My wife and I shared the Four Duces with home style potatoes and an order of pancakes. Everything was perfect and while we shared, it was more than we could eat. We had a very disappointing experience this morning/afternoon. It took forever to get our order. Its always busy but this time it took over an hour to get our food. The server never checked in. No refills or explanation on the delay. I walked up to speak to the manager who just said the cook was very behind. That was obvious. We finally received our food. We were about to give up and leave. The server and manager were both lacking in customer service. The food was good but when you're that hungry and just left waiting like we were we were very tired and disappointed when we left. read more

I ordered the chicken tenders, with soup and a salad. First, they brought out the salad and soup and they topped my salad off with a ton of thousand island dressing. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and it didn't look like any chicken noodle soup I'd eaten but I tried it nonetheless and was disappointed with the chalky taste of the rue sauce and oddly strong pepper taste. I also ordered a vanilla milkshake, it tasted like nothing. Like when I tell you I sucked on the straw for two minutes thinking that the shake was just super thick and it turned out I was drinking it but it tasted like nothing. This by far has been the best server we've ever had visiting this particular norm's location. My husband and I have visited on other occasions, but felt that the service was merely ok. On this particular visit our server Maria really went above and beyond to be very helpful and she took her time to continually come around and check on us. She offered service with a smile and overall I could just say that this has been one of our best visits to this location. The ambience was very chill, breakfast vibe. Ordered a Porterhouse Steak and Eggs. I remember back in the day, the meals were not only inexpensive but delicious. Nowadays, if you're not going to a steakhouse, don't expect too much from the steak you get at places like this. Sure got that right. My steak had no charbroil flavor nor did it even taste like beef. I asked for medium, cuz when I'm NOT at a steakhouse, the temp is never correct and if I asked for medium rare, I would receive rare. Soooo... I ordered medium. What did I receive? Well done. ugh. As I mentioned, no beef and no charbroil flavor. Tastes like it was boiled. They made sure I had some grill marks, but it was still terrible. The manager says it's probably how they seasoned and marinated it. She offered to make me another one, but I declined. Will just feed it to my friend's dogs. They were happy. I I had a cup of the clam chowder. I thought that was yummy. What I really miss is their Tapioca Pudding that they used to serve back in the 80's. Big ol' clumps of it. Plop!! Sundays are always busy at Norms, and today was no exception. Regardless of the crowd, the staff here is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Our server Parker was very attentive and attended to our every request with efficiency. Once it arrived, the food was delicious, and always a great deal, being budget friendly to the wallet. At the cashier, we were utilizing a certain organizational discount that is currently being offered by Norms. For some reason, the "math wasn't mathing". Manager Roy was so very patient and helpful to fix the issue, and even recalled the previous time we were at this location with the same problem.
