Don't make the mistake I did. Go to Kings Auto instead. I spent $910 to not have the problem fixed. They put in faulty spark plugs in my engine which happens. It's not always possible to guarantee quality of parts. The unfortunate part is that error led them to believe the old coils then needed to be replaced, so I paid for that (+$293) and when that didn't fix the error they suggested the new coils might be bad. Rather than bring it in a 3rd time, decided to take my car to Kings auto. Alan found the problem within a day and gave me new spark plugs (+394). I went back to Ryan the owner of NB auto and asked him if he'd be willing to make things right. Not only did they install faulty parts, but that also led to additional work that was unnecessary. He refused to refund me for anything beyond the spark plug parts and oil change -$160. If I never went to Kings auto for a second opinion I'd still have a check engine light and be paying more have the coils checked etc. Kings auto costs more, but nothing compared to paying for work you don't need. The owner Ryan prioritizes his bottom line over customers, which is his choice. As is mine not to go back. read more

9/23/2020 I am driving an older vehicle and on my way out of town I noticed my windshield wipers were off and going too far across my windshield. It's a very rainy day and visibility is low, even more so with messed up windshield wipers. I recently purchased my windshield wipers a month or two ago which are the correct size for my vehicle. Anyway, I immediately pulled off the road and into North Bend Automotive and explained my situation. They were beyond helpful, very kind, brought my car in right away and diagnosed the problem. I swung by Mt Si for my usual training hike, but with a low riding car and the new potholes, one of the shields on the bottom of the car caught and finally got pulled down and was dragging on the road. I called North Bend Automotive to see if they had time to get this fixed up, as I was in a hurry. Not only were they more than happy to help, but when I arrived they popped the car on the lift and took care of the issue immediately. The mechanics were super cool, friendly, informative and even helped me look at another issue that's been bugging me for years. Most mechanics will schedule you a time, even for little things, days out. This place took care of things quickly and efficiently, recognizing my issue as a quick job. I was driving over Snoqualmie Pass last Saturday when the engine began to overheat. After several hours, I got the car towed to North Bend and chose North Bend Automotive. On Monday, I called to coordinate a diagnostic, and left it for a day. By Tuesday, they had diagnosed the problem as a thermostat that needed replacing, and offered to replace it by Friday. I was called Thursday and was told the work was complete. Overall, the price was reasonable, and they were able to put my fears to rest regarding my belief that I had a blown head gasket. I would avoid this trap at all costs. I showed up to this shop after calling and speaking with Ed in regards to a very minor coolant leak I was trying to get repaired. He told me he could certainly squeeze me in as he had 3 mechanics on staff. I arrived shorty after our conversation. He had me wait around for 2 hours while he sat behind a desk shuffling paperwork and taking calls.. Never addressing my mechanical issues. I patiently waited until one of his mechanics finally approached me and asked what the issue with my vehicle was. I proceeded to tell him what part was broken and that it would need to be ordered and replaced. He agreed and told me I should speak to Ed in regards to parts. I once again re-approached busy Ed to address my parts concern. He got on the phone with his "local parts supplier" and frantically whipped out his calculator to tell me the part I was asking for would could me 350$ and he can only get it if I order by 1 o'clock. It's 12:57.. I showed Ed the exact part number I needed.. From the Napa website as a Napa auto parts is located in North Bend. Napa showed the part priced at 58$. I told Ed sorry that price sounds way off from all my research, there is no way I would pay 350$ for a part I can see is priced in town for 58$. So I proceed to step out of Ed's office and call Napa directly. The shop is close enough I was considering just walking to Napa if they stocked the part I needed. As I spoke with Napa and gave them my parts number they instantly recognized I was calling about the same part and proceed to tell me that it did in fact only cost 58$. Ed was attempting to up charge me 300$ to pick up a part from down the street?? I immediately walked back Into his office to tell him goodbye. He was listening to voice mails as I patiently stood in front of his desk awaiting for an opportunity to tell him I was leaving. He rudly listened to several more voicmails on speaker directly in front of me until I finally just gave him a wave goodbye and told him I was leaving because the price for the part was outrageous. He than quickly tunrned off the phone and stammered that I somehow still owed him money for what his mechanic had done. The mechanic quite literally did nothing. He was actually too lazy to even bend down and look at my issue. He simply agreed with me on the part I had already diagnosed needed replacement and poorly relayed that information to Ed. They not only gave me an insane price gouge, wasted my time for 2 hours, and than had the audacity to try and charge me for nothing!? I told Ed he was a crook and walked out of his shop and drove straight to Napa to by the part myself and fixed it within the hours in the Napa parking lot. Don't allow Ed to try and manipulate you into an over priced illegal transaction. I am very adept mechanically and can see bright as day when a shop is not being honest and is simply trying to take advantage of someone else's tough situation. Head anywhere else. There are honest mechics out there.. Just not here. read more

I was on the pass, heading back from Eastern Washington with a dead phone, when my check oil light came on. I stopped at a store in a small town where I was told the next "big city" that would have Subaru engine oil was in Bend, so I took the exit and stopped at the first place that looked like they'd be able to sell me oil. Boy am I glad I stopped here. Not only was I greeted by a friendly weiner dog, Jennifer an awesome person to talk to, they stopped working on what they were doing and topped off my oil. North Bend Automotive did an excellent job fixing our water pump failure (over 8 hr job on our Honda Odyssey). I highly recommend them to anyone for their quality work and great support. The back story: We were on a vacation trip through central Washington when our water pump went out (we're from California). All shops in the Cle Elum area were booked, but to the west we found North Bend Automotive, and they were able to squeeze us in immediately the next morning. That morning they diagnosed the problem and started work. The manager, Ed, was very thorough about describing their tests, what needed to be done, how much it would cost and how long it might take to repair. Their openness on the issues made me feel very comfortable - especially since we were dealing with a group we had no experience with. Ed answered every question and concern I had. In addition we were obviously under time pressure due to upcoming reservations on our trip. Ed, knew this, and did his best to get parts in quickly and every few hours kept us updated. I appreciate all the attention and excellent support we got to keep our repair on a fast track. I appreciate the personal touch that Ed gave that kept us from panicking. I had worked with this shop previously and had a positive experience. They have worked with me an my insurance to get my vehicle up and running....hopefully. However, It has been since December that they have had my vehicle. I have called, emailed, Facebook messaged, texted to try and get my car back. I have offered pay over the phone and they can drop the keys under a mat to comply with quarantine. I have received 0 response and I want my car back after almost 6 months. These folks are simply fantastic. My 2002 VW started misfiring while I was headed through the pass. Since I'm not from the area, I was cautious and tried to find a decent shop through online reviews. Needless to say it's not a fun endeavor. I was basically at the mercy of this mechanic that I didn't know in a town I was unfamiliar with. Thankfully my experience has been the best I've had with a mechanic. The owner really knows her stuff and everyone there is extremely nice. The shop is immaculate. Their front desk and waiting room is clean, comfortable, and very professional. They took great care of me and gave me a fair price for repairs. They even drove me downtown so that I didn't have to stick around the shop while I waited. My only complaint is that I don't live closer so I can have all my repairs done here. I really wanted this to be a good experience, but it was not. After taking my car to repair the AC (quoted at 4 hours of labor), 3 full days later I still have no AC. They supposedly fixed my AC leak, but failed to recharge the AC. I am now having to call around to find someone to recharge the AC, driving my car without any AC. My advice to this business: communication will help solve many of your problems. I repeatedly had to call to get any updates. I still don't understand why you took on the repair knowing that you couldn't charge the AC. And when you couldn't charge the AC, why you wouldn't work your butt off to get it charged somewhere else. read more

Last week I brought the car in for brakes, oil/filter change, air filter, and tranny service. I was time boxed and needed to have the car back in time to pick up my wife from work. A bit risky, sure. But I've found these guys to be dependable and reliable. So when Denny told me they could get that all done AND keep it to my budget, I accepted that. Not only did they hit it on all marks, doing a fantastic job, but Denny came around and picked me up my son and me when it was all done. My experience is similar to the other less than stellar reviews. After having it towed here, I authorized 1 hour of diagnostics. They had my car for 2 weeks. They went days without doing a thing, ordered wrong parts, then when I had to pay to have it towed to another mechanic, they charged me almost $300 for zero results. This place was personable, fast, and got the job done! I was driving on the freeway and noticed my check engine light flashing i knew that i could not keep driving over the pass like that. I called before i got there and told them i was on the way. They got me right in and told me what was wrong with my car. They even picked up the part needed to fix my car and i was in and out in 45 minutes and back on the road to my destination. I HIGHLY recommend this place. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. Do not take your car here unless you hate money. I took my Subaru here because I smelled something burning, completely explained my concerns, then was talked into a $575.00 tune-up oil change. Two months passed and I still got a whiff of that same smell so I took it to another mechanic close to my house and he advised me that I have an oil leak on one of the cylinders which will cost close to $2000.00 Their misdiagnosis is costing me big especially since I just had new tires installed costing $650. read more

My van started to overheat unexpectedly while heading over the pass. I ended up pulling into North Bend Auto to have them take a look. Short story, the mechanic Rick came right out, did a short diagnosis, added some coolant and gave me advice on what might be the matter. My husband and I were traveling on I90 with our one year old when our transmission light randomly came on. We took the exit into North Bend and decided to go have it checked out. The first shop we arrived at started to look into it and then told us they weren't going to sit out in the rain with a code reader and that we could take it somewhere else. We then went to North Bend Automotive. We explained to them what happened and that we just wanted to make sure we were safe to keep driving with our daughter. They immediately took the car back and helped make us and our little girl comfortable in the waiting room. They checked all the codes, the oil, cleaned a sensor that had been causing the gear to slip, cleaned the air filter and the air intake. At the end of it all, they sent us on our way with only the compensation of a good deed done. Not only where they gracious, kind, and understanding but they also opened up their personal office to allow me to tend to our daughters soiled diaper as we had 4 more hours to travel. Although we don't live in the area, I can assure that we will do our best to be loyal customers to these incredible people. I can never express the appreciation we have. Today I had the unhappy accident of hitting a box spring mattress square in the fast lane on I90 East. I used my AAA membership for a tow. North Bend Automotive came to my rescue within 10 minutes and towed me to their shop. They assessed the damage, fixed my car so I could make it safely to my final destination, and personally tested it to make sure it was safe to drive. Everyone from tow truck driver to mechanic and front office staff went out of their way to get me out on the road as quickly and safely as possible. Their customer service and support was amazing. I recently went into NB Automotive. My car wouldn't start but the battery could be jumped. When I arrived at 2:00 they were very busy but still jumped right in to see if they could find a quick solution. Turns out the battery was bad but under warranty.
