The sales manager tried to up sell everything. Then he had the corruption to switch numbers on me. He tried to Play with the monthly payment amount, term, and rate. He claimed they were typographical errors. But there were three such errors in rapid succession. That's not a coincidence. Tried to lease a Kia Niro EV here, lured in by an email from Beau Watkins. Called and talked to 3 different people in the span of 24 hours, referencing the exact deal being advertised. The first guy after taking all my info, never bothered calling me back. The second person told me the zero DAS is actually 13k and the tax is actually tax plus fees which is $50 or more. The third person agreed to the 0 DAS but could not give me an exact monthly because "his manager would not allow him." The tax is anywhere between $30 to $50, yet I could give him my exact zip code. I think if you are a shopper with internet and a smartphone, you would find yourself being very frustrated dealing with this dealership. My advise is look elsewhere. Update: within 30 min of hanging up with these people I found a lease that I will be signing tomorrow. read more

Laura Was a delight to deal with. She helped me out via texting and was able to give me an out the door price right away was that was the best around. No haggling just right to it with what I wanted. The process was streamlined and good. Off the top of my head I can not remember the lady we worked with in person to do our finance paper work but she was a delight also, very quick and well organized and friendly. I would be happy to have the opportunity to work with both of them again. 5 stars for them I have two complaints and/or recommendations. When we came in a gentleman came to talk to us about the safeguard or a few standard factory installed options. He said that 2 can be waived but one (the safeguard I believe) was a fixed/hard add on and could not be waived. I showed the out the door priced I was guaranteed and insisted I did not want anything extra. My complaint t here is that I did not appreciate trying to be pressured or told I must have this and pay for this after I already agreed on a product and price. I better way could have been for him to explain what it was and if I would like to keep it. That was a poor business tactic and I did not appreciate that, it actually mad me very mad and my wife and I were on the verge of just walking out and going to another dealership. My second complaint t was the lady working at the desk had a headphone in ( it appeared to be an apple white wireless headphones). I found this unprofessional. I can see and understand the people on the back end like maintenance using them to listen to music but someone in the front should not. It looks tacky and takes away from that intimate sincere feeling you would want when in a place of business. Purchased a car here. Traded mine in as well. Despite being the one doing the talking and negotiating while my husband sat beside me, the trade-in associate only introduced themselves to my husband and only asked his name while completely ignoring me. We had asked that the car be put in both our names. When the finance associate came out he stated that it was only in my husband's name and walked off when I questioned it. The sexism here is gross. I would not shop here again. We were happy with the car we got and were in a rush to get out of there so didn't fight but I left feeling upset instead of excited. I am NOT a fan of this dealership. I scheduled an appointment to drive a 2020 Kia Sportage and the salesman was very responsive to my texts. I ended up test driving a newer model and can't argue that it was a nice car. However, it wasn't the car that lost them the deal for me. Once we pulled the car up to the dealership after our test drive, the salesman went inside to put the keys back and my boyfriend and I were talking outside. I noticed that the manager (I think) was lurking and eavesdropping on our conversation (I mean I know that's a sales tactic but COME ON.) He then came up and interrupted our conversation and pressured me to go inside to discuss a deal. I wasn't comfortable but I decided to go in anyways. The "deal" they gave was pretty comical. I had done my research on the car and knew what other dealerships were asking for the model and it was WAY overpriced compared to other dealerships in Southern California. They tried to tell me I didn't qualify for low APR financing because of my credit score (which is in the high 700's.) Also, the deal they tried to give me on my trade in was not accurate and I went to CarMax and got 2000 more dollars for it (seriously GO TO CARMAX.) I was seriously considering the Kia after the test drive but the slimy actions of this dealership drove me and my boyfriend away. For what it's worth, our salesman Ben was very nice and informative. If the management wasn't so pushy and dishonest I could have possibly given them my business. read more

KIA of Escondido has horrible customer service. Do NOT go there. I went in with a perfectly running 2012 Kia Sorrento and left having to have my own car towed off their lot, at my expense no less. I received a recall letter from KIA and made an appt at KIA Escondido to have the ECU software updated- whatever that is. Victor the service rep said it would take about an hour. He said he heard knock in the engine and wanted to take a closer look. With the recall Victor said we might get a new engine. Mind you there was Nothing wrong with my car when I brought it in. I said fine go ahead. I got a ride back to KIA and Victor said they did the update and that they would not replace the engine. I said fine because there was nothing wrong with the engine...it ran fine. I started the car and the check engine light came on. Victor said the car was now on LIMP mode and undriveable. He knew I was getting dropped off...but never said the car would not be workable. I didn't know what to do. The car was fine a few hours ago. i said put the car back the way it was but Victor said NO they couldn't do that. He said they could sell me a $7000 engine. I am disabled and just wanted my car back. So I had to call a tow truck at MY expense, when they did the damage. Now I am without a car. I talked to Mr. Kevin the case manager and he said they would do nothing. Mind you it took me 2 weeks to get to talk to anyone from KIA. I now have no car due to the fault of KIA ESCONDIDO. Do NOT take your car there. They ruined my car and took no responsibility for what they did. No communication, nothing. I will never buy another KIA. I don't know what to do now. read more

Simply put, After decades, Kia is still building undependable vehicles. After purchasing one of the first Kia vehicles when Kia began selling vehicles in the U.S. in the early 90s our family could easily see that car deteriorating on a weekly or monthly basis so we avoided Kia until 2018. Because of the price difference with other manufacturers we test drove another Kia (Sorrento) in 2018 and decided to give Kia another try. We made a terrible mistake by buying another Kia because we have had nothing but continued problems. The engine had to be replaced at about 60,000 miles. A dangerous full leak was another issue at 70,000 miles. This issue was clearly an issue that should have been addressed with a total recall because a few year ago the manufacturer extended the warranty from 5 years, 60,000 miles to 15 years, unlimited miles. The many challenges are too numerous to mention but I should certainly mention that the service department at the dealership (Kia of Escondido, North County) that we deal with is seriously unprofessional. Estimates for when repairs will be made are consistently uncertain. One example for how unprofessional they are is that to find out when my car would be ready I was on hold to speak to someone in the service area for over 55 minutes on two consecutive days where no one ever answered the call so I had to drive to the dealership for an answer. If you purchase a Kia, in my opinion, you will certainly be disappointed at some point. You have been warned!! This is my first review, but I felt it important to warn others. read more

I bought a brand new 2023 kia from here this week. I am in love with the car and all employees were great- Christina, Alex, Omar, and Marcus. Wait times could have been a little bit better though. The dealer markup here is very high ($10k on PHEVs) and we were able to talk them down because other kia dealers in the area were offering the same car at a much less markup. we still had to pay for the $3985 in dealer add ons which I really was not happy about. They also gave us a competitive offer on our trade in so we were happy about that. Overall, I know we paid too much for our kia because of their markup and add ons, but the car was so hard to come by that I accepted this. If you are buying a non- EV or PHEV, there is no reason to pay any kind of markup or for dealer installed options. read more

If I could say one thing about Kia and their finance company it is that they are a sham. The customer service agents hang up on you if they do not have an answer. I reached out to get a name change document for my registration after my divorce. They informed me I could not change my name until the vehichle is paid off. I went to DMV again and they stated I needed the name change document from KIA to be able to move forward. Currently I can not utilize my insurance because the vehicle is registered under my married name and I have since gone back to my maiden name. I received a parking ticket and the officer informed me that if I was towed I would not be able to get the vehicle out of impound because the insurance and registration is under a different name. I called the dealership where I purchased and they informed me that the finance company is just lazy and there is nothing I can do. NEVER AGAIN BUYING FROM KIA! read more

Unfortunately for them, they have Norman Davoie, he's responsible for the 1 star. Norman was sarcastic, condescending and damn right ride. Being that he is in finance, the last step of the deal, he is not a good fit. I walked out during the document signing due to Norman. Said to hell with the deal. Albeit, I needed to calm down and return the following day to complete the transaction. Had my only option been Norman, I wouldn't have purchased a car here. Everything seemed to be going as expected until they tried to charge us more than we agreed. They used the usual slow tactics of leaving to check with people on pricing, and trying to deceive us on added security features, etc. which we expected. What we didn't expect was that after we had a clearly agreed upon deal and were 3 hours into the process, the finance guy told us that they would only give us $1,000 for our trade in, which we had in writing that they would give us $1,500. They hid the paperwork which had the deal clearly written in it and wouldn't give it back to us or let us see it. At this point, 3 different people gaslighted us and told us we were crazy, that the agreed upon deal was never the deal. Although they didn't say that directly, they said, "let me check with so and so and see what we can do." Again, unscrupulous gaslighting at it's worse. So we left and will never go back even if they decide to honor the deal. Believe the negative reviews here and elsewhere. read more

I have been wanting to buy a new Telluride since they were first introduced around a year ago. I had some obstacles that any dealer and I were not able to meet, yet each time some new ones came into stock they would email to let me know. From time to time I would touch base to try to figure out how to make the deal I needed. I was a challenge, to say the least. I hate when I have to take my car to this dealership for service. They are always incredibly slow, and don't stand by their work. They repaired a broken door latch well, but my door panel kept falling off afterwards. They put it back on a couple times, but never replaced the clips that had worn out from the job. I asked them to replace the clips on a future visit because I was tired of the panel falling off, causing the door to be stuck closed. They quoted me $200. Not acceptable since it was a result of their work. I ended up ordering the clips on Amazon and replaced them myself for under $10. read more

It was a HARD sales pitch w statements that didn't really make sense to me, and made me feel like he was saying anything to get me to sign. I was lucky enough to work with Jorge who leads the sales team there during my transaction with the Sorento. What a pleasant experience. Even after living in Carlsbad and now downtown San Diego, North County KIA is my stop for all of my needs for my vehicle. The service department is courteous, friendly, efficient and knowledgable. I trust that they will always keep my Sorento in top running performance. I do recommend allowing yourself enough time for services to be completed as they do run over their quote time on a regular basis. Terrible experience. They pulled so many games during the purchase process, it was very unprofessional and just super shady. They tried to sell me the wrong car intentionally, they inflated the sticker price with $8K in added charges of stuff I did not ask for, and then tried to keep adding in more costs. DO NOT BUY OR LEASE YOUR CAR AT NORTH COUNTY KIA. Your finance department SUCKS!! It required 6+ hours waiting at the dealership to process a simple 36-month lease, yet there was (no trade) and both my wife and I have credit scores that exceed 820. While my own credit profiles were initially locked due to former identity theft, I temporarily provided access while waiting at the dealership (this is easily done online), yet you didn't bother to confirm my credit history before we departed with the vehicle - and a signed contract - so days later you verbally threatened us even though you had previosuly confirmed my wife's credit history and employment were beyond reproach. I offered to remove my name from the lease and/or unlock my credit reports again. You declined. A couple of days later, Kia corporate now calls us to verify my credit history, again I unlock my reports upon request, and supposedly that ends the administration confusion (once more due to your initial incompetence). Today, we receive an unexpected, certified letter from the dealership informing us they are invoking their "right to cancel" the deal - no reason specified - and to call to schedule return of the vehicle. We call for an explanation, there is no answer. Voice mailbox is full. We had never even considered a Kia before we leased the Niro. We will never drive a Kia again. I'll be writing corporate to tell them how disgusted I am with my experience at your dealership and I can't wait to return the vehicle and actually work with a dealership that wants to sell me a car without treating me as if I've done something wrong or am unworthy of being a customer. I guess I should just call all of my creditors, including the bank I literally just refinanced my mortgage with two weeks before I attempted to lease this car, and just let them know that Kia North County doesn't think I'm credit worthy so they should foreclose on my house too. Fantastic experience! I literally hate the car buying experience because sales staff, haggling and waiting. So when I came here I expected the worse. Boy was I wrong!! From the beginning Jose was polite and knowledgeable. He didn't try to baffle us with BS and treated us with respect. After speaking with him last weekend we came back today with an appointment and purchased our brand new Sorento. Camille in Finance was awesome too. So knowledgeable and didn't try to up-sell unnecessarily. She explained the extended warranty and the Gap insurance we asked about and answered all of our questions without making us feel like we were a number. Sales people told me they were lowering the price to work with me since I was turning in a lease that had extra miles on it. The manager literally pointed out the miles I was paying for on my loan agreement saying "here is the amount KIA is paying for." I had to point out to him that if KIA is paying for it why is it in my loan? He was dumbfounded. Safe to say these sales people will say anything to get you to buy a car. They told me they were lowering the price of the car by $800 but when I looked at the agreement they took out the Lojack so they were actually taking something away from my car in order to give the appearance of lowering the price and giving me a deal. I didn't realize this either until I was looking over the loan totals. I would be extremely cautious buying a car from here and just be sure to look over the details firmly before signing the final paper work. I still bought the car because it's something I wanted but I felt like they were trying to fool me. We bought a Kia from this dealer back in 2013. The Sales Scammer (oh, I meant Manager) over charged us for Teflon paint coating and other stuff. Arrogant, know-it-all type. Went through HELL to get my money back. Went in today for another shot of poison. Wife is looking for a SUV. After standing around INSIDE for a few minutes.. finally I said: "Any salespeople here?" and a Hispanic salesman showed up. So he flaked out and called in a Caucasian salesman. He too was full of (you-know-what). Looked at a couple of SUV's and the prices were NOT even close to being compatible with what Hyundai of Escondido is selling. And boys and girls... Hyundai out of South Korea IS THE MANUFACTURER of both Hyundai and Kia. Kia is the LESSER of the two lines. So the guy tried to shine us on with standard B.S. and we decided if we buy a Kia again, we'll buy via another dealer. However, after buying 6 Kia's since 2002 and each Kia dealer being ASSHOLES.. it's probably time to buy a Honda. By the way. Think about the following: 1) Hertz has gone BANKRUPT after 102 years in business! They got started in 1918. They have TERMINATED 16,000 employees! 2) Hertz has 500,000 (1/2 million) cars for sale! Add to this the cars for sale from Avis, Budget, Enterprise, etc. We're looking at MORE than one million used cars for sale! This COVID-19 B.S. has almost completely KILLED the car rental business! 3) Add all of these rental cars to FLEET cars and there are several MILLION used cars for sale. 4) It's 2020 as I write this. If we buy a NEW 2020 or even a 2021 model.. the very MOMENT we drive it off the dealer's lot it loses about 25% in value! 5) With this in mind, wouldn't it be better to go and buy a USED 2020 vehicle with VERY LOW mileage and a darn LOW PRICE! No need to get screwed by a dealer. 6) Drive around any Dealer's lot here in San Diego (any county) and look at the amount of cars stacked up on their lots. They HAVE to move these vehicles. They have a FRANCHISE and they have a CONTRACT with the Manufacturer. That means if they can't buy the amount of 2021 models they have contracted for... they can lose their dealership! So in the next few months you'll see these guys dumping prices or they are really going to cry with 2021 models piled up with the 2020 models and their OVERPRICED USED KIA's! You guys rock!! My husband and I went into NC Kia with a 2018 Sportage that had quite a bit of negative equity. We were wanting to trade in on one of the new Stingers that we had been eyeballing ever since they came out! We were previously at DCH Kia of Temecula where we were told it could not be done, and basically ignored by their sales people once we told them how much negative equity we had in our Sportage. My husband spoke with Blake, who was made aware of our entire situation. Even given the fact of the negative equity, he told us to come down to see what could be done. Long story short, after quite a bit of number crunching, they were able to get us into the car we wanted! The dealership has a nice selection. I have to say there are some good features and some that are lacking. Pros: -Dealership is clean -coffee has a nice selection for service department -good location Cons: - not quite efficient in paperwork -purchase time takes long time We purchased in October the sales rep did a great job. Although being the only people in the sales room to buy the process somehow still took 4 hours. Here we are in January and still no license plates or registration. Somehow Kia messed up the paperwork. After repeated calls they told us to come down and resign the papers. Once we came down met with the financial dept they got frustrated and irritated wanting us to sign a blank paper in order for them to process the DMV paperwork. We were told they have a lot going on and we come after the other customers. So the beginning process was fine but since we are still dealing with the purchase aspect 3 months later my opinion is the dealership isn't as customer service friendly as our various Toyota, Chevrolet or Ford purchases. read more

Before the purchase day, I found communicating with sales reps to be easy and informative. I was anxious to spend minimal time in the dealership due to COVID concerns. I filled out the dealer's "NCK Direct" online information, and received a "Your Deal" email specifying a price and financing offer for the exact car I wanted, which I had already test driven. When I got to the dealer, they completely ignored the online information. They spent 3 1/2 hours dragging me through deceptive sales offers, trying to slip in upselling me $10,000 of unwanted services at a much worse financing offer than was clearly listed on my email and their website. At the final signature when working with their financing person, they tried to slip in a $500 increase in the base price, which when confronted they explained as a computer glitch. I found their day-of-sale practices to be dangerously lengthy, deceptive, dishonest, and uninformative. I am very pleased with the car I got and the final price, but would never return there under those conditions. read more

All I can say is wow. Came in today to purchase a car with my pregnant girlfriend. Omar was a great sales person but the general manager absolutely killed the deal. I actually hope Omar shows the GM this so he can tell him off. Not only was I treated with absolute disrespect by the GM but afterwards as he was walking away he without provocation called me an asshole under his breath. I build custom cars for the disabled and work in the car sales industry and never have I ever been so disrespected by a dealer in my life. Seriously. Like what General manager thinks its ok to do so. All because I asked him to keep six feet of distance during this time with the virus going around. I would recommend anyone stay the hell away from this dealer.
