Been coming here for a few years and always had a good experience with their sandwiches and staff. They are under new management and have switched things up since. I got the Italian Hero and was very disappointed with the sandwich I got. There were no veggies (I.e. lettuce tomato, barely any onion). Meat was skimmed on as well. They also didn't include the sauce that normally came with the sandwich. Really frustrating experience. The only reason I'm not giving a one star was because they were very friendly. I won't be coming back. It's sad cause I used to really enjoy this place when they made heartier sandwiches. I gotta be honest. I stopped going to this location when the new owners took over because I used to eat the Buddha Bowl with the other owners but I've been over twice in the last couple of weeks. First, I love the items they have hanging up - I grew up with my father listening to Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and seeing all of them up on the wall is really cool. Only person missing that would have rounded it all off is Kris Kristofferson. I've had their vegetarian sandwich both times I've been there. You would think it's hard to mess up that kind of sandwich but it can be done by not having fresh items. Both times have been delicious!! 2nd time I added one of the fresh baked cookies ... Wow! Our family was visiting Auburn and we found this gem. We had the BLTA and the fried salami sandwiches - both on Dutch crunch bread. The bread was crispy on the top but very soft overall. Both sandwiches were great and the people working there were very friendly and kind. We'll go there again the next time we visit Auburn. He raved about each sandwich: the huge portions, the quality, etc. Loved every aspect of buying lunch there. Yesterday, last day of class, he bought a chocolate chip cookie for me. On the deli website, the cookie is described as "giant". Let me tell you, as a chocolate cookie lover for decades, the word "giant" does not begin to describe this cookie. Not only is it a perfectly baked cookie with balance of ingredients, it is beyond Giant. It is humongous, if that is bigger than giant. The cookie by which all others must be measured. Found this gem while checking out the Western States 100 mile race. The portions were a good size. The place was busy but the service did not suffer. I ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich that came with a red potatoe salad. Both were really tasty. My wife ordered a half pastrami on marbled rye. She did it was really good. Super cute little sandwich shop in downtown Auburn. Love the interior, staff were friendly. Unfortunately the food didn't blow me away. I got a hot pastrami sandwich and there was so much fat ( I know pastrami has a lot of fat...) but this seemed excessive. I ended up picking my sandwich apart and only eating maybe half. Just had a wedding up in Cool this past weekend and needed sandwiches for the after party for about 60 people. Talked to Amber who was incredible in helping me with my platters of sandwiches. They were all delicious as well as the potato and macaroni salads we also added the smore's cookies. Many of the deli's in town are closed on Sunday's but they helped us out and everything was ready to be picked up right on time. Saw some great reviews, and decided to give it a try while passing through. I had the Reuben sandwich. I'm a bit of a Reuben snob, but it was totally awesome... one of the best I've had. Tucked into one of Auburn's funky collection of businesses is this tiny little deli as noted by the sign in the windows. Inside is a square space as big as a small apartment. A few seats line the table that shoulders the window, a few tables sit at the benches along the right photo-filled wall, and the simple counter sits straight back. At the counter, a sandwich press sits to the right, neighboring the prep area at the back. A blackboard menu sits above for the specials not apart of the more permanent menu of salads and sandwiches. With the meatball only on special, I went with the pastrami on rye as an alternative. After a long wait and observation of their meticulous preparation method, I got a plate of the hot, pink pastrami, grilled onions, swiss, dijon, and mayo between toasted dark-rye bread. Flavor-wise, it has that clean, lean pastrami meat covered in that creamy dressing made slightly sweet by the grilled onions. But. It feels like it's lacking something. It's not bad, but nothing sparks that immediate thought of "oh my goodness". While North Fork is indeed a good sandwich place, there are some I've simply had better. And I hate to use that cliched phrase, but that's just the thought I had after it was all said and done. Came in with my lady after seeing signs the past few times we've been in auburn. Great service, very approachable gentlemen, the owner and is son are kind and helpful without being over bearing. Told them we're going to be moving from Stockton and will be leaving behind the Greek deli that's been opened since the 20's that we grew up with, and were looking to find something as yummy in auburn. The owner assured me we came to the right place. We ordered the hot pastrami to split, I got a Hoptologist, she got a sanpellegrino.
