Mama Mia, it's amazing! As someone who's part Italian and quite picky about Italian food establishments, I often wonder if they truly serve authentic Italian cuisine or just American-Italian dishes. Well, thanks to my cousins from Rocklin who introduced me to this charming Italian restaurant nestled in the hills of Auburn, I can confidently say: thank you, and well done! From the moment we walked into this family-run establishment, we were greeted by friendly servers and a wonderful ambiance. The inviting atmosphere made it feel like we had temporarily escaped the greater Placer area to an authentic Italian bungalow, perhaps in a quaint Italian neighborhood. The delightful aromas and the selection of Italian wines set the stage for a wonderful evening filled with delicious food and laughter. Everyone around us appeared to be enjoying their meals! We were quickly seated, and our server, Gina, did an excellent job explaining the specials and suggesting wine pairings. I opted for the spaghetti with meat sauce, which was fantastic, and their salads are superb, drizzled with an Italian dressing that only Mama could make. The next time I'm in town, you can bet that I'm heading over to Pasquale's, and you should too! And thanks again to my cousins!

The pros: The staff is really nice and its a cozy atmosphere. Chicken fettucini was the best dish of our table. It was really good with large pieces of chicken and lots of sauce. The cons: We ordered 2 cocktails, and 1 came out but after some time passed and we asked where the other one was we were told it would be a minute because they had no bartender on duty yet. Okay... The steak was underwhelming, but the fries were good. Then onto dessert... we ordered the caramel cheesecake to share and it was decent. Kinda rich. Between the two of us, we didn't even finish it. The bruschetta was also just okay. Its texture is like a crouton. I prefer it on a toasted bread. Friends told me they have good pizza. Maybe I'd try that instead next time, if I returned.

The star of this place is that penne alfredo with sausage and OMG the garlic bread is drenched in a pool of butter ( and i mean that in the best way possible ). Not where you should come if you're on a diet . This place was very solid and deserving of 5 stars. The food was yummy, hot and flavorful. Service was fantastic and our server was so knowledgeable, friendly and charismatic. We celebrated a birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the space! My only comment on the food would be on the lasagna - i would've liked a bit more tomato in the sausage. It was very heavy on the ground meat (which is lovely) and needed a bit more of a balance in terms of meat to tomato sauce ratio. Otherwise, 10/10! Highly recommend this place

Great option in Auburn!! The staff is friendly and attentive--they make you feel right at home. I've been here both as a table of four and with a group of 10, and both times were fantastic experiences with great service. I was determined to try something new on my last visit. So many tempting options like the pesto gnocchi, lasagna, and mushroom ravioli, but I couldn't resist the lemon risotto with scallops. It was incredible--the scallops literally melt in your mouth, the risotto is perfectly creamy and tender, and the asparagus is cooked just right. Perfection! For dessert, the crème brûlée was outstanding--I loved how the caramelized sugar top was thick rather than delicate. That extra crunch was so satisfying--yum! On a previous visit, I tried the pumpkin crème brûlée, which was also delicious. And oh, the garlic bread--it's a solid 10/10! If there's any left over, an air fryer at home becomes your best friend for reheating. Starters are a must too! The Burrata Salad is creamy and fresh, the Crispy Brussels Sprouts are addictive (perfectly caramelized), and the bruschetta is a great lighter option if you're not super hungry--all so good! One note: They only have a wine and beer license, but they have a great selection of wines. (I always go for wine with Italian food, so I haven't tried their cocktails yet--they're made with wine-based alcohol and sound interesting!) Highly recommend--definitely going back!

Chicken Parmesan, after my mother-in-law had already started eating it.

We were looking for a restaurant in Auburn that neither my in-laws nor my wife and I had been to. A quick Yelp search and we were headed to Pasquale's. It was Mother's Day at 5:30 and we had no reservation. We were told it would be about 15 minutes. 10 minutes later and we were seated in a completely full restaurant. My wife, my father-in-law and I all ordered fettuccine Alfredo. My mother-in-law ordered the Chicken Parmesan. Each meal came with 2 slices of garlic French bread. My mother-in-law (who can be a picky eater) took a couple small bites of her Chicken Parmesan and then she really went after it. To say that she loved it would be an understatement. Our fettuccine Alfredo was also very delicious! Jason, our waiter, was very attentive and very speedy. I love the vibe inside the restaurant; lots of black and white photos on the brick walls and beautiful, traditional decor. Needless to say, I think my in-laws have found a new favorite dining spot just 5 minutes from their house.

Really enjoyed our visit here we sat at the bar with a super fun bartender she was a long time employee with a few regulars hanging out having dinner and they were just as much fun. The pac man arcade game was free!! I hadn't played pac man in decades and I had a blast! Turned out it was happy hour while we were there so we pretty much ordered everything on the HH menu. Cesar salad, pizza, garlic bread, mozzarella sticks everything was good we really liked the food. The beer was cold. We will definitely be back... they also have a coffee bar and lots of favor's of Gelato and desserts.

So.. I was in a mood for a Steak dinner. But it can be a challenge to find someplace in Auburn. I went to Pasquale's and was not disappointed! They have a Steak dinner only on the Weekends.. it was cooked to perfection! 16oz Ribeye, lemon and cheese risotto, grilled asparagus and garlic bread! It was everything I wanted in a steak dinner! This place just keeps amazing me. Of course the service was great!

Both were standouts, that fig and sherry vinaigrette combination especially. For mains we had the 8oz Flat Iron Steak with chimichurri and fingerling potatoes, the Crispy Pork Belly with its nectarine-ginger shoyu glaze, the Elk Chops with mission fig jus, and the Catch of the Day. Everything came out beautifully composed and full of flavor -- the pork belly glaze in particular was something I'm still thinking about. The cocktail program is worth the trip on its own. Summertime in Bloom (gin, strawberry, basil oil), Peaches & Proof, the Old Fashioned, and the Grapefruit No.4 with yellow Chartreuse and Campari -- all balanced and thoughtfully built, not just sweet. And a special shout-out to our server, Shannon. He was personable, funny, genuinely fun to talk with, and incredibly attentive all night. He made the meal feel like more than just dinner. It was definitely under-seasoned and needed salt. We asked for some sea salt, which was brought to us, and that helped bring out the flavors. For my entrée, I ordered the crispy pork belly. I was expecting the pork belly to actually be crispy, but it came covered in a very heavy, rich sauce. There was so much sauce that any crispness the pork belly may have had was completely lost. The rice was fine, but the bok choy was severely undercooked and still hard. My husband ordered the ribeye. The steak itself was cooked very well, and we had no complaints about the preparation of the meat. Unfortunately, it was covered in the same heavy sauce and served directly on top of the risotto. The sauce soaked into the risotto and overwhelmed its flavor. The risotto would have been much better served alongside the steak, where it could have stood on its own. His broccolini was also undercooked and hard. The service was okay overall, but certainly not stellar. The most disappointing interaction came when I tried to address the bok choy. As soon as I mentioned it, our server immediately told me that bok choy doesn't have much flavor. I explained that flavor wasn't the issue--the problem was that it was undercooked. I cut into it in front of her to show her just how hard it still was. Her response was essentially, "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" I then had to ask what my options were and whether I could substitute another vegetable. After going through the choices, I selected asparagus. She did bring it out, and it was hot and properly cooked, which I appreciated. My disappointment wasn't that the vegetable wasn't ultimately replaced; it was the dismissive attitude when I brought up a legitimate issue with the food. A simple acknowledgment and an offer to replace it would have gone a long way. Overall, there were some good elements--the appetizer was decent and the ribeye itself was cooked very well--but both entrées were overwhelmed by the same heavy sauce, both had undercooked vegetables, and the service did little to improve the experience. For the price and our expectations going in, the meal was disappointing. This was our first visit to Oakhouse, and based on the food and the way our concerns were handled, we won't be returning.
