Ordered the chilled crab claw appetizer and the portion was very generous. The crab meat was a bit firmer and drier than I expected, though that may simply be due to it being served chilled. Overall, we enjoyed it. For entrees, we shared the casino linguine vongole (clam pasta)- they split this on 2 plates for us, and chicken parm vodka (forgot to take a photo). Both were very good! Wow. Worst service ever. Our waiter "greeted" our table with "shall I get you a bottle and five glasses?" Presumably meaning wine, but we were considering cocktails and a bit confused by the question. He said "I'll come back when you're ready," and disappeared for the first of many long absences. From the beginning it felt like we were ruining his life. He was cheerless and curt and wouldn't make eye contact with anyone. It would be more understandable if the restaurant was super busy or understaffed. But this was Monday at 6 pm. We listed a birthday on the reservation, but it wasn't acknowledged. Why bother to ask if we are celebrating? We waited for empty plates and glasses to be cleared between courses. We waited a long time for him to return so we could order a second glass of wine. Even longer for the plates to be cleared and longer still for the opportunity to order dessert...a piece of cake for the birthday girl and two after dinner drinks...but the drinks weren't picked up from the bar when the cake was delivered, and only remembered when we asked for the check. We watched him pick them up (well after the cake was consumed) on his way to leave the bill. No mention that they had been overlooked, no thank you, no good night. This was our first time at Barsotti's and it will be our last. Aside from the awful service, we had issues with the food as well. The veal was pounded paper thin and fried hard resulting in a tough, chewy texture similar to dried beef or jerky. It was dry and overcooked on two different dishes. On a more positive note, we enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer and the redfish was fine. While our waiter was largely MIA and unpleasant when he did show up, the bus boy/assistant was gracious and attentive. Maybe he was trying to compensate for his colleague. Absolutely delectable!!! The Caesar salad was one of the best I've had! Super light dressing with a citrus tang. I asked for it chopped up instead of the whole leaf and it was amazing. The fried ravioli was crispy but not too heavy and the filling was fresh complimented the homemade light pasta. The only thing I wish was the the chicken on the chicken vodka parm was a touch crispier. The vodka sauce was creamy with a slight spice and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Barsotti's in the oak lawn neighborhood of Dallas has some really good Italian food. We went on a Saturday night and managed to sit at the bar. I would advise getting a reservation if you are wanting a table. The service was great and all the staff members were super friendly and had stories to tell and would easily make conversation. The food was even better. We started off with the chilled crab claws. The claws were already pulled and you didn't have to do a lot to get the meat out of them. Our two entrees we got was the Ravioli and tortellini vodka. Both came out in a delicious sauce and had plenty of flavor to the dish. Reasonable priced as well. For dessert we had to try the cannoli. You get one vanilla and then one chocolate. The vibe of the restaurant has an old 1920s vibe to the establishment. When I'm in Dallas next this would be a place I would go back to. read more

Overall I would not recommend this place and probably will not return Calamari was over fried and some parts were very dry. All the food was a little overly salty Arugula salad was overdressed and so oily. The potatoes I wished were crispy. Some of the chicken in the salad was a little rubbery Chicken parm was pretty good. Could be a little more moist, but I appreciated the size. Overall flavors were good. Service was meh and now reading reviews it said people got complimentary bread. We did not get offered that nor something for my birthday! Seems some people get good service and others don't. Barsotti's was decent to me. As a person who consumes Italian food frequently, I can't say that I was 100% impressed. Also, add being a NJ native ;) I made Resy reservations for a party of 4 at 7:45 pm on a weekday so I was slightly surprised to see how packed it was when we arrived for dinner. You walk into a nice, thoughtfully designed space and as someone who loves a good ambiance, this place delivered. The hostess was pleasant and seated us pretty quickly. When we got to our table, we waited about 10 minutes just to have our drinks, which wasn't too bad. Our waiter was enthusiastic as we told him it was our first time dining here. We ordered the fried calamari and fried ravioli -- the calamari wasn't as tender as I prefer... I found it to be a little overcooked and lacking flavor. However, the fried ravioli was delicious, the only one that I would've made there was to incorporate more cheese. For drinks, there was wine ordered, a mocktail, which was a little bitter, deep elum IPA, and a Shirley Temple. After our apps, our waiter asked if we would like any bread because having our meals, which I found odd because if it's complimentary, isn't that something that's offered once we sit down? Now, onto the entrees. There were 4 guests, so 4 things ordered. I have the tortellini vodka and I'd rate that about a 3 out of 5, although a good size portion, I felt like flavor was lacking. There was a lot of sauce but nothing stuck to the pasta. When I took my first bite, I didn't do that dance (IYKYK). However, all the other guests raved about their food. I did taste some of the steak and chicken parm, which were both so yummy (and full of flavor). Since we were celebrating a birthday, we received a slice of chocolate cake. I didn't have any since by then I had loaded myself on the delicious complimentary bread, but the birthday girl and my husband mentioned that it was delicious! The main reason for my 3-star review is nothing really stood out to me the way I thought it would. Again, as someone who grew up in NJ and was around a lot of the Italian culture and influence, I've had my fair share of Italian dishes. The arancini appetizer was good, but small. The calamari was good, light and crispy. The lasagna was my biggest disappointment, it was a bowl of salty, tart meat sauce with a few noodles in it. No ricotta, no shape, so darn soupy and not nearly enough noodles. I really did not like it at all. Maybe I got a bad piece? Kid got the spinach lasagna. It had more noodles, but was super salty. Hubs had the veal parm and that was the best part of the meal. Pasta was perfect al dente and veal was thin and crispy. (I didn't love the sauce here either). Cannoli was bad. More whipped cream than mascarpone. No taste. Service was slow, but friendly enough. The vibe of the place is good, but the food's not for me. Will not be back. What a find! This is the best Italian food I've had outside of Italy. I wish I could get this level of food and service locally because it's phenomenal. Formerly Carbones, the southern Italian flavors are welcome and prominent. MB and I lunched here on a Sunday afternoon before heading to the airport. I was immediately drawn to the cozy interior and beautiful bar, but we sat at a table by the windows for people watching. I had the Shrimp Scampi Linguine after joking with our server that scampi is shrimp in Italian. The Shrimp Shrimp Linguine. (I'm here all week, folks!) The house-made linguine came with fat, perfectly cooked shrimp and an out-of-this-world sauce. I was able to eat all the shrimp and maybe 1/3 of the massive serving of linguine. Probably not that massive but we old people have smaller appetites! MB ordered the Creste Sunday Gravy, a delightfully spicy sauce with sausage served over tender creste paste, a unique extruded pasta that looks like little rollercoasters and holds the sauce in its texture. After a long day of projects with my friend, we were ready to eat and wanted something hearty! We found Barsotti's and decided to try this place out. First and foremost, you get what you pay for. Pricing is more on the high-end side but it's so worth it. We ordered pasta dishes; mussel pasta with red sauce, mussel pasta with cream sauce. Appetizers with calamari-fried to perfection! Chef kisses. And the drinks were pretty good too, right amount of alcohol and flavoring. They didn't overdo the alcohol but we still had a good time, if you know what I mean. I love how this restaurant is in uptown Dallas but when you step inside, you feel like you're in a different country, like Germany or Scotland, somewhere European. Definitely recommend; 11/10. If you want a summary of this review - The service and food were both subpar, I would skip it and find a different Italian place in the area unless you feel strongly about checking it out. Getting into the positive - the ambiance was nice and I thought the restaurant was decorated well. We were seated next to the photo wall which was very cool to look at! My aperol spritz was amazing, one of the best I've had in DFW. The garlic bread + ricotta appetizer was GREAT! I loved the olive oil on top of the ricotta and it was a good shareable size. The negative - the service was pretty meh, our waters were not filled up once during the meal and our waitress was not especially personable or kind. I got the cacio e pepe which was for some reason not on the menu (though it was online and was available to order). It was just okay, the pasta was more al dente than I would have liked, to the point where it was a little grainy. The spicy broccolini was not spicy and was just sitting in a tangy pool of butter. I wasn't impressed with the dessert options and opted out. Other guests in my party didn't love their meals either. A personal critique is that it's not a very vegetarian friendly restaurant. Dishes that are seemingly meat free (such as arancini, fried ravioli, vodka tortellini) have either meat or meat byproducts such as chicken stock. Overall, this was not a memorable dinner and for the price point, I would look elsewhere! read more

Went here for a friend's birthday and were really looking forward to it since it's Michelin recommended. It did not live up to the hype, the portions were extremely inconsistent. The calamari was basically all batter and no actual squid which was disappointing. All I ate was batter. I had the chicken parm and it tasted like olive garden, the portions were huge on my friend's plate and small on another. The tortellini stuffing was inconsistent, some had sausage, some had herbs and cheese, and some had nothing in them! The service was terrible, we waited 45 mins to order our drinks, 45 mins to order our appetizers, and had to ask the server to order our entrees. With the inconsistent service, I felt like it was terrible because of our large party and auto gratuity already being included. Charged 22% of our bill to see our server twice is insane! This place only gets two stars because the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant was nice. Would not recommend going here read more

my parents and i went for dinner on monday @ 6pm and we got seated right away. i wanted to try this place out because i saw it on the michelin guide and it definitely lived up to the recognition! my parents wanted to just split an entree because they cannot eat very large meals so we ordered 3 apps instead to make up for it. calamari: pretty predictable taste but very yummy. the marinara sauce is greattt garlic bread&ricotta: they make their ricotta and mozzarella in house every day. i will be dreaming about this ricotta. i don't really like store-bought ricotta and actually have never tried homemade before but wow, i don't think i could ever go back to the store for ricotta haha bruschetta: show stopper tomatoes. the tomatoes were so perfectly marinated(?) and it was amazing. my parents were really impressed with the flavor of the tomatoes and the pairing w the crunchy bread. pastas: really good. a lot of food. they handmake their noodles and you can tell because the texture of them is so nice and also perfectly cooked. the shrimp scampi on linguine made it taste really interesting because we've only ever had scampi w angel hair. really good flavor of seafood in the scampi. again, the tomato sauce in the spaghetti is insane. idk what they do to the tomatoes but i really love it. cannoli: i would fight someone for another bite. we ordered the original cannoli at the restaurant and again the ricotta mixture but this time sweet with cinnamon was SO amazing. i don't even like cinnamon and i was licking the plate. we also ordered the tiramisu cannoli for takeout and wow it was so good too. really really good. overall, the restaurant was so nice! food, ambiance, service, really great. i loved that the lighting was not super dark, not super loud inside and the interior wall with the frames made it feel like so italian. i will definitely be coming back again. read more
