North Pacific came to our home through our Home Warranty company to perform a simple pre-season tune-up..the technician said he'd replace the capacitor being afraid the old one wouldn't make through summer BUT to our surprise, this "specialist" wired the new capacitor wrong making our ENTIRE outdoor unit to BURN, yes, it caught fire and all the wires were split and burnt. That pre-season tune-up is now costing us more than $2K to fix. So if you're looking for a company to take care of you, I'm sorry to break the news, look somewhere else. The images speak for themselves. [UPDATE on 07/29/2022] We were contacted by an employee on 07/26/2022, he seemed concerned about what happened to us and he asked if he could stop by our place the next morning. Upon his arrival he was super friendly and genuinely seemed concerned about what have happened to us (our whole AC unit needs to be replaced because it caught fire due to North Pacific Mechanical wiring it wrong during a pre-season tune-up). This employee looked at our AC unit and saw with his own eyes what caused the issue and promised go back and talk to his boss, the OWNER, of the company. Today (07/29/2022) we were contacted by this same person to inform us the OWNER of the company decided to DO NOTHING about it and NOT stand behind the "work" (more like the problem they caused) North Pacific Mechanical has done. So it's crystal clear to me that North Pacific Mechanical DOES NOT care about their customers or losing them. If you had good luck using them in the past, good for you, but if you are looking for a serious company that will stand up and own their mistakes and problems caused by them during their services, PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and look somewhere else, they WILL NOT stand behind their work and WILL NOT look after you if they cause a problem, like what happened to us. I'm so glad we're now in good care of another company (services the same areas as they do) that has been in constant contact with me, keeping me in the loop with everything that's been going on with our home warranty company and the process (going smoothly). North Pacific Mechanical, you guys are not welcome anywhere near my house ever again. I'm spreading the word not to hurt your business (I don't make anything out of this) but to help save people from the headache you guys caused us. And a little message to the owner, keep running your business the way you have and I'm looking forward to seeing where this will take you and your company. Keep thinking about your pocket before your customers and you'll go a long way. Folks out there, do yourself a favor and hire PROFESSIONALS that will stand up to the quality of their work and own their mistakes like REAL PROFESSIONALS.

Zach checked our old house wiring, installed a new fixture, and repaired and replaced some old switches.

Deon has replaced most of the fans on my off brand mini split units. He's the man. Prompt and determined! Bonus: he's great with pets.

In no time at all, he diagnosed and fixed the issue with our AC drain line and, on top of that, explained everything to me and showed me how to fix this same issue myself in the future. As if that wasn't enough, he pointed out (politely!) that we were using the wrong size furnace filter--and replacing them more often than needed. He told me what size we should be using, and why, and where to find them. I could not be happier with these guys, and will absolutely be using them again for any and all of our HVAC needs.

Prime has serviced our furnace and AC for about 3 years and each visit has been professional and effective. Most recently, we were concerned about an unusual noise when AC started up and Saif came out within a few days, correctly diagnosed the issue (not a problem), and then returned to do routine service and to add a vent to the furnace which corrected an airflow problem for minimal cost. The correction has been wonderful! Saif works to keep charges down (extra vent was very inexpensive). Prime offers a program for repeat customers for which there is not extra charge (unlike other companies). The Prime administrative staff members are all professional, considerate, and conscientious. We have used multiple companies at our homes in Portland over about the last 40 years; Prime is hands-down the best. Also, we recommended Prime to our son who then chose them to install a new furnace and heat pump. He was very satisfied.

He was very honest about what their price would be compared to going through my warranty and what if he would do if he were in my situation. He said ge would not service it because it will only make it a couple of weeks. They charged me $89 anyways. I called and got a refund since they refused to service it. Nice that they refunded money for service they never performed. They gave me an estimate of over 10k to replace it. I called clean air act. They serviced it up and said it's still has a lot of life left. Now 2026 Chris is texting me wanting to service it on a special of $49. Why? So they can refuse to service it again? They only want to replace units not service them. Here is a picture how they left it last summer. Refused to clean it too. It is still running strong.

The water heater was installed 2 1/2 years ago by Rivival Heating and the anode rod needed to be replaced because "Portland water is so hard and full of minerals". The original quote for labor alone (not covered under warranty) was $340 but we got the manager to bring it down to $250. Still, the water heater is only 2 1/2 years old and that was an expense we did not anticipate when we bought the water heater. The prior one was not broken but when we had Rivival replace our furnace, they strongly suggested replacing the water heater at the same time. The old one never produced brown water but after just two years, the new one did. Maybe the water heater wasn't as good as the previous one? Not sure... Forgot to add, my home warranty service said they could not reimburse me because this is a "warranty issue". And to be truthful, the furnace job was great! Just wish the water heater repair didn't cost me anything. Next year, when it is out of warranty, I'll be able to file for reimbursement from my home warranty provider.

However Dmitri didn't give up and successfully managed to tighten the parts after applying sealant. Since it was still warm outside, we didn't use the heater until 4-5 days later when Dmitri came back to verify the sealant he used had cured properly. I almost fell for this trick. But as he pressed me to make an appointment, he asked me what kind of a/c unit I have, which is an odd question for someone who has worked on our equipment previously. I then asked him directly, "Have I done business with you before?" No response. So I asked again. No response. It turns out, I have no record of doing business with Conrad Heating & Cooling, because we have never done business with this company! I told him I would not be scheduling anything with Conrad. This representative didn't even know what type of unit we have, confirming there was no prior relationship. The familiar tone of the initial text was a deliberate tactic to create a false sense of trust. And I find that very offensive! I'd encourage other homeowners, especially seniors who are frequently targeted by this kind of approach, to read unsolicited texts carefully. If a company implies they've worked with you before, ask specific questions before agreeing to anything. In this case, the deception became obvious very quickly.
