The owner was working by himself and was incredibly friendly and personable, which made the experience even better. The subs were absolutely delicious, and the bread was so soft and fresh. We also decided to grab a cheese pizza to go with our meal, and that definitely didn't disappoint either! We're not from the area, but one thing is for sure--next time we're in Madison, we WILL be back! My boos bestie has been raving about this place so we finally tried it. This review is food only, we've only done takeout. So far we've had pizza, salad, and a couple pasta dishes. The pizza was VERY good, definitely in my top three for the area now. Salad was a little bit plain but honestly, still good. No wilted lettuces or anything like that, all very fresh. But what made me want to write a review was the Sausage Parm and the Eggplant Parm--omg both so good! Literally obsessed with both. Never had a sausage parm before & it slaaaaaps. And the eggplant parm was one of the best I've had in my life, ever, anywhere. Not too oily, not too chewy. This chef was like, "what like it's hard?" When it seems like it is for so many others. It's been a while since I've been so absolutly disappointed by a pizza place that I just throw the whole thing rite in the trash..... pizza wasn't even cooked . Was covered in an ungodly amount of tomato sauce, almost no cheese at all. We decided to give this place a try, had heard enough buzz about it to peak our curiosity. It's a clean, brightly lit place, ample seating and an arcade in the back. The person taking our order was polite and quick, informed us it would be about 30 minutes until our pizzas were ready and she was right. We ordered 2-16" pizzas, sausage and black olives. The crust is really good, just the right balance of chew and crispness. There definitely could have been more sauce on both pizzas. The sausage pizza was a bit greasy, but good. Sausage itself was good, but a little sparse. Black olive pizza was good, less greasy. Pizza is obviously a saltier food in general, but these seemed a bit saltier than most. There is room for improvement, in my opinion. But don't rule them out, definitely give them a try. read more

Probably my favorite east coast style pizza and sandwich place. They literally never miss. We usually get the Italian and the Steak Special, but you also can't go wrong with the pizza. It's the best of its kind in the city. It's got a cute arcade attached to it, although we didn't partake the last time we went. Typical pizza place ambiance, nothing fancy but quite nostalgic. First time at this small joint. Called ahead for pickup and ordered the Steak Special (cheese, mushrooms, onions n pepper) and opted in for the 'large' 12in. They definitely packed the full 12"! Will be back to have another sub here. Cold Italian was my first try, and it has me piqued in what other tasty food I can devour. This is some quality sammich materials being used here. Bread is perfectly soft, yet bitable. The salami and bologna were fatty and salty. All the fixings (I recommend) bring this up to be an above average experience at a wonderful price. Give them a little time. That was the general sentiment from the 14/16 year old employees that were working tonight. They were sweet and knowledgeable but unprepared for a steady stream of customers on a Friday night. No fountain machine. You can purchase bottled sodas for $2.50 each. They don't have an alcohol license yet so no beer and no BYOB. No water dispenser, the staff (half) filled plastic cups from a bartender's sink. You can't bring drinks in the arcade area, which felt like it was 90 degrees in a tightly packed nook past the dining area. We ordered the grilled chicken salad, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, a large fajita pizza. The salad arrived as torn pieces of iceberg lettuce, shaved carrots, onions, tomatoes and blackened chicken chunks in a plastic takeaway box. The mozzarella sticks and onion rings were unremarkable with the latter served without a dipping sauce, likely from the folks at SYSCO. The pizza was the star here with generous toppings sprinkled throughout the large pie, but the middle portion appeared undercooked and mushy. The arcade is on the pricier side with most of the games costing a dollar to play. It is my understanding they have only been open for 2 months so maybe give them some time to work out the kinks and we will return. read more

There are no online descriptions of what is in them, or what size the small vs large is, but I guess one can figure it out. The sandwiches are large and filling and tasty! Ok, hubby heard about this place on a Facebook ad. Figured we would try it since there is very little aside from chain pizza, burger & fries which we were definitely sick of. You don't need to ruin it with toppings folks. Just get the pie the way the good Lord intended. Cheese alone. Again, was awesome! The next time we went, I wasn't able to eat but hubby ordered the meatball sub which comes small or large. The small is an easy 6" and more than enough for an adult man. But if you really want a foot long....it'll only cost you a couple bucks more. But this sub was stuffed full of wonderful meatballs a marinara and cheese. So very tasty. Daughter ordered chicken Alfredo pasta dinner that night and was very pleased. I didn't try any but she wasn't sharing anyways. LOL So last night we had to order again because the menu is so big we gotta try all the stuff. So last night I ordered a small Steak Special Sub, hubby got the meatball Sub again and daughter ordered the Chicken Parm Sub. In our house we pass our food around so everyone can taste everything. I was very impressed with all of it. But my Steak Special was out of this world! When I say sub sammich around here you get a giant piece of bread with hardly any sammich in it. Not with North Shore! Here you get far more meat than bread and it's so tender and seasoned beautifully. There's a melted cheese in there along with onions, bell peppers and mushrooms with the steak and cheese sauce. The only complaint I can even think of here is that the cheese was so good I wish it were in more of the sammich instead of the inside 1/3rd. Orders have always been taken by the same man that seems to own the place. He always says it'll be ready in 15-20 minutes and it has been every time. Hubby is from Long Island so they chat a bit and I'm sure this guy knows my husband by now. LOL There is a small seating area if you want to stay and eat. The place is clean enough and has an arcade! The sign had me thinking this was a skater vibe and it would be really chill with lots of bright, fun art murals inside. Chill was right, but very gray and cold. Pretty pleased with the amount of food I got for $8, though! Not sure how they're pulling it off, but if you're hungry, bring a $10 bill down here and get a small Italian sub. Was unaware it comes topped with cheese (though we thought would be just regular garlic bread) - I warn you however it is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! We will be ordering this repeatedly. Tada-ahh, finished it off by trying an order of their fried dough. A magical concoction that kicks your tastebuds into happy dance -overdrive (though prefer less powdered sugar). Their pizza is good. But I dock a star for two reasons : 1) their green bell pepper is cut so thin it's basically a display pepper only. No green pepper taste or crunch. Only the appearance of a pepper on your pizza that crumples to nothing when you take a bite. So just don't order peppers on your pizza bc it doesn't really count as a topping but you'll still get charged for it 2) the gyro was pretty disappointing. Man I love their pizza so much and I've only had it once. They have such a big menu too I want to try it all. But the pizza is some thing you can't find no where else. The prices are great too. Thought I'd give this new place a try on my lunch hour and it was great! Walked in and 10-15 minutes later I was walking out with a great New York Style 10" pizza pie, enough for two lunches at a very reasonable price. Almost seemed more like a 12". There's certain cheese that's my favorite on pizza (think Buck's) and they use it! By the time I got back to the office (about 3 miles) it was still piping hot and delicious! I'll definitely be going back to try their subs. My only suggestion to them would be selling smaller bottles of soda, when I was there, they only had 2 liters available. There was a sign that said the Arcade was closed, I hope they are just remodeling because my granddaughters used to love going there when it was Rossi's. The environment was clean and fresh, but I really missed all the memorabilia that used to be in there, it was super fun to look at to pass the time while you waited for your order. They do have some artwork up on the walls that are for sale so that was cool. Great newer (I think) spot for pizza in Monona, took over the old Rossi's location and they've kept the arcade intact which is great as long as you're not creeped out by that type of thing. Jersey style pizza, which I'm not sure what that exactly is, but I e joy theirs very much! They have a nice chewy delicious crust flavorful sauce/cheese and for me personally they've all been cooked very well. I've never dined in and I don't, my only complaint is the service has just never been friendly. Thank yous unanswered, hello how are yous ignored.
