Finally! A 24hr diner in Seattle that isn't the over-rated Beth's! This place is the true definition of a 4 star restaurant. Quick, yummy food that is predictible but not mind blowing. Our server Jon was very kind, patient and helpful as it was our first time in. I was having a hard time choosing so I asked him what he recommended. He gave me two options for each category; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Since he mentioned two of the things I was already interested in and one think my husband wanted, the choice was easy. My husband got the philly cheesesteak sandwich with caramelized onions and a side of fries. It was tasty but we expected a lot more cheese. Like gooey, cheesy meat. I got the biscuits and sausage gravy with sunny side up eggs. This was a massive serving! Super yummy. Just added some pepper and I was great. I also ordered a double vodka tonic- got my money's worth for sure. Only real complaint is that my husband ordered the milky way milkshake and we both thought there was too much chocolate syrup in it. Otherwise tasty! We can't wait to go back! read more

Had breakfast here, and it was fine. I feel like they're still getting things in order - the food was fine, and I'll be back and hopefully be able to give a higher rating. Great bacon, eggs and hashbrowns good. Not a big fan of the French Toast - they used great bread, but it was really dry. This may be a matter of taste, since I guess I like my french toast a bit more soaked and rich. Biggest problem was that the food was lukewarm when it came to me, despite the fact that there were only a handful of people in there. If it had been cheaper, I'd probably give them a pass and give it a 4, but when you spend $15 on breakfast, it should be hot at least. read more

I love this gem of a diner. A former Chinese dive, it is now the perfect American dive, serving staples and their twists on favorites (in a non cliche way).The decor, the menu, the people. We visited this diner 3 x since it opened. First visit, the Reuben was so sloppy I had to eat it with a fork. The coleslaw was extremely watery. 2nd visit, I ordered the crab and avocado Benedict(asked for no hollandaise with egg whites only). A no crab with hollandaise sauce plate arrived. I ordered ice tea was told, "we have plenty of hot tea, but no iced tea". Our waiter kept rubbing his nose and running his hands through his hair. Visit 3, I ordered a baked potatoe. My friend ordered a double decker BLT with avocado, black beans, and one over easy egg. Over 45min later, I received a sad potatoe with no chives(all bruises and black knots left on the potatoe and avo). My friend received no avo, no beans, but 2 eggs. Double decker BLT? Too much bread! The virgin margarita was not drinkable. We will not be returning unless we hear of significant improvements in quality and service. The staff were friendly, coffee, and plenty of water. Note: we sat at the far left hand booth. Extremely dangerous. I sunk into cushion and could feel the wooden supports. Unsafe for the elderly and small kids. read more

Came here a week or two ago with three of my coworkers. We came late at night and there seemed to be only one worker available, kudos to him for holding it down when he had about 5 tables all to himself to attend to- working in food service myself makes me give him the benefit of the doubt. However, my coworker and I ordered a plate of nachos each and in the middle of eating we both discovered hair in our food. We waited a while and finally got our server's attention and told him about it, he offered to let us order something else off the menu to replace it. I got eggs and hash browns and my coworker got steak and eggs. We were then charged for the new items we picked rather than what we had originally ordered which I'm not sure if that is standard or not? Lastly, one of my other coworkers only requests was that she wanted water and we had to wait 30 minutes for it... and then only her water got filled when the rest of the table had empty glasses as well. I'm not sure if it was just because the server was frazzled handling everything on his own but definitely felt the service was yelp worthy. Establishment was clean and their music choice was spot on, would love to go back and check out the karaoke bar!! read more

Let me start by saying the service is amazing. We went there on their second day being open with a large group and four toddlers. They went above and beyond to accommodate us even walking over to the Bill's on Greenwood to borrow additional highchairs! As far as the food, they are still working out a lot of issues with the line, as all on our entrees arrived 5-10 mins. apart from one another. This place has a lot of potential and I think once they work out the kinks in the kitchen they will be a great place for breakfast. Me and my boyfriend decided to eat here because we live close by and we love diner food and decided to give it a go. We were the only customers in the place and when we got our food it wasn't even hot, it was lukewarm like no one gave a shit. Obviously everyone working there was more focused on the drunks in the bar than there TWO customers eating actual food. Each of our dishes were served to us on two stacked plates for some odd reason, so all together we had four plates instead of two... also, they continue to use the dish ware from the previous chinese restaurant whose place they took, which is kind of tacky for my taste. The food wasn't very good at all, just okay and disappointing. For the breakfast "platter," the sausage patties were so small and skimpy, probably about three small bites each. We ordered over easy eggs that were way overcooked. The french toast was bland and dry. Overall, we will not be coming back here. They're trying so hard to be hip and be like Beth's Cafe and become a Seattle staple, but obviously they do not have close to good enough food or enough business to stay open always. If they were smart, they'd close at midnight and save themselves some embarrassment. read more

Went there because I finally had a night out and was excited to try this place... went into the bar and liked the atmosphere. Beer I had was good, but the food was horrible. I had the wings and they didn't taste right. And the French fries were very undercooked. I was disappointed to say the least. I may try it there for breakfast and hopefully it will be better. I was looking forward to this new diner opening. We went for breakfast today and I'm so sorry I wasted my time on this place. Took 20 minutes for two simple breafast orders to come out. I had the Little Dipper. The scrambled eggs were one dry clump of eggs reminded me of something from a bad all you can eat buffet., the sausage patty was hard, the hash browns were the best thing on the plate and they were just ok. My toast didn't come out with the rest of my food and the server said he be right back with it. 5 minutes later after talking to a second server about the toast I finally got the rest of my order. My partner had the bisucits and gravy. He said the biscuit was hard and the gravy was so spicey he couln't enjoy it. No one ever checked back to see if things were ok but did stop by while we were still eating to drop off the bill. I don't think these people have a clue about how to run a dinner. read more

The service was great. The food was ok. The prices were outrageous for diner food. There are other restaurants in the neighborhood that serve better food for significantly better prices. We ordered off the lunch menu and it was over $50 (including tip) - (no alcohol, no appetizers, one shake for dessert). The shake was only average and it was $7. The shakes at Dick's are better. I would only return here if I were desperate for a meal in the middle of the night. But even then, I would probably go to Denny's or IHOP instead. The food here is better than those places, but only marginally so and not worth the high prices. read more

We went on a Friday night and the place was fairly empty. The waitress was friendly but the food came out slowly. It was our first time there and probably our last. I had a club sandwich which tasted fine at the time but is repeating on me now. My husband had the Reuben which was slathered with Russian dressing which overpowered the entire sandwich. Good food and cool vibe, but don't come when it's busy. My wife and I came for Sunday breakfast around 9:30 and got not great service. I ordered a breakfast burrito and she ordered French toast. Hers arrived first, and the server explained that the burrito would take a few more minutes. 15 minutes pass and my wife had finished her meal, but we hadn't heard anything about the burrito. I flagged down another server and asked if it was ready. A few more minutes pass and it is brought out by the server I flagged down with apologies and an explanation that as a custom order it can take a lot longer, which is understandable. I ask for the check, and the server who brought the burrito brings it to us - it looks like he took the burrito off the check as a nice gesture, which I appreciated. I leave my card, and he takes it. Several minutes later the original server returns to our table with my card in hand and asks if my wife and I are paying together. We say we are, and I realize that she thinks the lack of burrito on the check was a mistake...and sure enough, when the credit card slip to sign is brought out we've been charged for the burrito after all. Suggestions for the restaurant: - Totally reasonable that custom items take longer than standard menu ones, but if it's going to be a 20 minute gap between customers at the same table receiving their meals then it might be good to warn people of that. - Seems like communication between the servers wasn't good...it was very disappointing to be given the discount as a nice gesture then have it taken away. read more

We had a big group for a birthday brunch and they were able to accommodate us, which was great. All the food was delicious, and I really like they're bloody marys. There is such a good variety of food options and I always like being able to eat lunch food at brunch instead of just breakfast food. The service was a bit slow and we had to wait a very long time to get an issue with the bill sorted out. They were nice about it, but I probably wouldn't go there if I was rushed for time. For our group, it was fine because we were hanging out and it also felt nice to not be rushed out the door like some restaurants do. read more

I have been here several times and I love it! It has become my go-to restaurant in Greenwood. The pancakes are my favorite, I usually get the short stack with a side of bacon. I asked about the recipe and they told me the same baker who makes all their fresh baked goods makes the batter. I would say they're the best pancakes in Seattle. The french toast is good too, as is the breakfast burrito. I love the make your own burrito card. The decor is nothing fancy, but the food and service are fantastic. Honey and I just stopped there for a happy hour drink I had a margarita and he had a screwdriver. 6.50 and 3.75. I have to say that Northstar is probably the only bar that I can name that really makes a decent drink. They use quality ingredients and the bartenders know what they're doing. This particular bartender was sweet enough to take off the really,shall we say a lively Saturday night music, and put something on a little more mellow for a Thursday happy hour. What stood out was the lovely smooth drinks with quality booze. It's not easy to get a good drink that doesn't cost a million bucks in this town. read more

I'm becoming quite fond of this place. They had a slow start but are beginning to get noticed. Very friendly wait staff is always major points in my book. They have the second best chicken fried steak I've ever had (after a small place in Austin). It is huge and precisely the right shade of brown. I live just a few blocks away and having a twenty-four hour joint on the block is terrific! Their grilled cheese sandwich is delightful and I can highly recommend their tomato soup. I haven't tried the bar yet, but I always have a Manny's Pale Ale or two. If you ever get peckish at three in the morning I'll probably see you there. read more

There were lots of great choices on the menu, but if I could go back tomorrow, I'd probably get the same thing all over again -- eggs benedict with abundant amounts of crab and avocado and a perfect Hollandaise sauce. We also liked the way the owners have mixed the updated diner decor with holdovers from what used to be a Chinese restaurant, including a big Chinese gong in the bar. Went there for brunch and got benedicts. Flavors were excellent, however, 4 out of 4 of the eggs on the table were not soft boiled well (they were more hard boiled). Great food, a lot of homemade items such as baked goods, meat patties and other items. Yes the wait can be long but when you ask you find out that the owners and server's will not serve subpar food. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledge about the items on the menu. The food is great at all times whether first thing in the morning or late at night. I wish I had discovered this place sooner - quick! Go before all the Ballard hipsters figure out how cool this place is. 110% pleased with the food, the quality and the kind service. The club sandwich is perfectly flavorful with every bite, and better than any five-star hotel club sandwich I've had anywhere. The fries are thoughtful and hearty. Who knew you could still get a delicious, real milk shake in this town? The milky way and espresso shake were memorable. The portions are generous. Katie, our server each visit so far, is attentive without being pushy. She checks in just at all the right moments and there is a surprise around every corner. I met one of the owners, Tony, who is as happy as the food his team make. Kudos to Mike, the head chef, for delivering a great product. I was so happy to see diner food in the neighborhood. Fabulous burger, BLT with aioli instead of mayo, cole slaw not drenched in dressing, good old fashioned potato salad with a touch of vinegar. Tried this place twice. First time was on opening weekend. Drinks were good, but food took forever, and the chicken dinner was so dry it was essentially dehydrated, and took forever to get to us. Gave it a couple of months, and tried again for brunch. Noticed the dinners were all off the menu now, and ordered a chicken fried steak and my wife got one of their sandwiches. Took about 45 min or more to get the food, and when it did get to the table it was barely above room temperature. Severs essentially ignored us, room was full of families with screaming kids on a weekend morning, which with the openness of the place was incredibly loud and unpleasant. Pretty sure the chicken fried steak was previously frozen and came out of a bag, as it was not good, and my wife's sandwhich had sat in the window so long the melted cheese had re-congealed to a nasty, oily mess. Too bad, really wanted a good 24 diner in our neighborhood, but this is not it. read more
