North State Auto is the best! Personable staff, clean facility, and a beautifully stocked lot full of luxury cars. I had been searching for a used Range Rover Sport HSE for months. After endless searches online, multiple test drives, phone calls, emails, and texts with private party sellers and dealerships, I was exhausted. I almost gave up on my search when I found North State Auto! Their reviews on Yelp are amazing. I immediately called North State Auto when I saw a Santorini metallic black 2010 luxury edition Range Rover Sport HSE posted on Car Gurus. I not only received a phone call back 10 minutes after I called North State Auto, but I received follow up texts and phone calls the day I booked an appointment to test drive the Range Rover Sport. Upon arriving at North State Auto, my husband and I were warmly greeted by Will. He introduced us to the manger, Tim, whom also greeted us. After a test drive, Tim sat down with my husband and I to discuss finance options and any issues we had with the Range Rover Sport. I requested a copy of the mechanical inspection checklist and Carfax report. Tim gladly presented both documents and went through each report line by line to discuss any concerns we had. After about an hour of discussion, my husband and I decided we needed some time to think about purchasing the Range Rover Sport. We told Tim we wanted to grab a bite to eat and discuss our options over dinner. Tim gladly gave my husband and I the car keys to the Range Rover Sport so we could drive it to dinner. So amazing! After we got back from dinner, Tim asked us if we wanted to buy the Range Rover Sport or not. He was never pushy or pressuring my husband and I to make a commitment we didn't want. He had our best interests at heart 100%. My husband and I decided we wanted to discuss finance options further, identify just a few concerning items to document on a due bill, and discuss trading in my 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 SE that I purchased back in 2006. Another sales associate named Hooman helped discuss these points for another hour. Hooman was informative and created a financing option that suited our needs to purchase the Range Rover Sport. 8 1/2 hours later, my husband and I drove home in my dream car and traded in my old car! Incredible experience at North State Auto (NSA). I was in the market for a new/used car, after doing the commensurate amount of internet research I identified five vehicles that I wanted to test drive. The line up included a car from NSA in Walnut Creek. After driving three of the four cars and having various experiences I test drove the car from NSA. Not only was the car in great shape but the people from NAS were incredibly professional and competent in there knowledge of the vehicle. They were well aware of all the comps and ready to do what it took to allow me to drive off with the car. After some negotiation, we agreed on a price, and the rest was administrative. They not only allowed me to take the car to my mechanic to get it checked out before finalizing the purchase, they stood behind anything that had be to be done to make it right. I drove here from far away to buy a car, they're customer service is great but they're not great salesmen. They lied about the condition of a car, the accident history and were very stubborn and did not want to drop price. After not dropping the price we agreed upon a certain number but when it came down to buying it they kept asking for more money and more money. They also pulled some pretty shady stuff. They called me before asking for 12k down and when i got there they kept wanting that because the guy said they were going to do the finance with their friends company or something like that instead of our bank or a well known bank. Very shady, keep in mind the salesmen might say something about a car but lie about the condition and other things about the car. read more

I had great customer service but please beware and get the car checked out by a reputable mechanic. I went here and trusted the reviews. They showed me their check point list also. I've only driven the car 10 times and the service light came on, battery died and needed replacing and the starter went out. There's rust in the undercarriage too. Had I not went on a rainy day I wouldn't have missed the 2 large cracks on the windshield. I do love the car but feel I didn't get that great of a deal. 2 stars for the service and quick transaction. read more

UPDATE: I recently tried to trade in my car after a year of very expensive problems. I tried to trade it in to Carmax, but they told me the value was way less. Turns out the car was in an accident and they failed to tell me that. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. Pretty shady. So I purposely waited over a month since buying my car from them to make sure that I was giving an accurate review. I can't say I'm unhappy with my experience, but I'm definitely not overjoyed. I got a car I love for sure and they seemed like good guys but....3 issues I'll get into. First of all, Masood (Pretty sure that's his name) was a good guy and very patient when I asked him to keep getting keys to different cars. He handled any issues I had with the car (a bubbled center console piece) before I bought it, and made the process overall a pretty easy transaction. The first problem I had was I went in knowing I had a credit score of 803, based on seeing multiple sites showing my score. When they pulled my numbers they came back saying it was 685. That threw me off, but I was good with the rate they were offering, so I didn't push back too much. What was weird was the Credit Union they used mailed me a letter a week later showing my score at 827. So I'm still not sure what they were basing it off of. They also offered me an extended warranty they said would drop my interest rate that I almost bought, but decided not to because it seemed expensive and they told me it was still under factory warranty for another 3k miles (which we'll get into in a minute). Even though I declined it, he (Random dude having me fill out docs) still gave me the lower rate. Also, when they were telling me where to initial on the documents I noticed they added GAP insurance without telling me...again saying he had to add something on there to get the credit union to lower my rate. It wasn't a big deal to me, so I just went with it. Moral of that story: Know your credit score and pay attention to what you're signing! My understanding is that buying additional services should NOT affect your interest rate. Let's scoot forward 5 days later (Christmas Morning). I start the car....Drive Train Malfunction and it wouldn't go into gear. Talk about rough start to the holiday. I calmed down, got it to start working and let them know about the issue the next day. They told me to take it to BMW and they would handle it. They were right about it still being under warranty, and BMW Concord fixed it, but it took a week to do so. Turns out it was a bad mechatronics unit and they said it was shifting incorrectly for a while. I thought I read somewhere that they do a 100 point inspection on all their cars, so I thought it was weird that something major like that would come up 5 days after buying it. But whatever. It's fixed and I researched a lot of extended warranty companies. You can get one from BMW for cheaper than what they tried to tack onto my loan. Or you can go with a 3rd party for about $1k cheaper. Flash forward a few weeks later - I get a notice from my credit union that held the loan on my trade in to them. They said my truck hadn't been paid off. That really pissed me off because I haven't missed a payment and have always been in good standing with them. I called North State and they said they had mailed a check a week earlier and it must have gotten lost. Which meant they waited 3 weeks to pay off my truck. That was very disappointing. Had I known it was going to take that long, I would have made another payment. Just checked though, and it looks like the loan was paid off finally (1 day short of a full month). Overall, the price I paid for the car with all the features was in line with KBB's estimate of a fair price. I don't feel like I got a good trade in price on my previous car, but I get it, these guys deal with luxury cars and they'd have to do a little extra work to get rid of it. Masood stressed the importance of their customer satisfaction and I don't doubt that they would have taken care of me with my car issues. I just wish that their financing was a little more honest and that they would have paid my truck off in a timely fashion. After all, they didn't exactly delay my new payment schedule lol. They still owe me a payoff difference, so we'll see how long that takes to get to me. read more
