I was going to have my dog spayed here, but I had some extenuating circumstances come up and I contacted them the day before her appointment to postpone. I was told I would have to pay another $100 deposit to reschedule, and lose the $100 deposit I already paid to book her appointment. Their refund policy is 48 hour notice, but again I had extenuating circumstances come up, but they didn't seem to care about that. So...I will be getting my dog spayed elsewhere, and they have lost any future business with me because I don't think it's fair under the circumstances and because I only was postponing it, I wasn't canceling it altogether, not until they penalized me for $100. I'm giving them 3 stars because of past experiences with this clinic with other pets I've taken over there in the past, and the vet was nice and compassionate then, but to me this $100 penalty for just wanting to postpone to me is unreasonable (I was scheduled for a surgery that same week and wouldn't have been able to fully take care of my girl while we were both in recovery and I thought I could postpone my procedure at the time I made her appointment). I found out later that they didn't want me to postpone my procedure (heart related) and I was freaking out about how I was going to take care of her during her recovery. There was urgency to get her appointment at the time I made it because I was afraid she was pregnant and it wasn't good for at her age to be. I found out the day before her appt that she isn't pregnant, so I was relieved to be able to postpone her surgery until I am recovered from mine and can properly take care of her. read more

I am heartbroken to be writing this, but I feel a responsibility to share our experience. I had been coming to this clinic for years and trusted Dr. Long with my dog's care. Unfortunately, over time I noticed a decline in attentiveness, compassion, and attention to detail. That decline became painfully clear during my dog's final days. After my dog hit a pole and developed severe eye swelling, Dr. Long referred us to a specialist due to internal bleeding, which I understood. However, shortly after, I brought him back because I was deeply concerned about additional symptoms--labored breathing and abdominal swelling. I was told he was "fine." I pushed for further evaluation, at which point Dr. Long reluctantly said, "Fine, you want an X-ray?"--a response that made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a worried pet parent. The X-ray suggested possible cancer. I was shocked. No compassion, explanation, or guidance followed. There was no discussion of palliative care, comfort measures, additional testing, or what to watch for. Not even a follow up. Only after I begged was my dog sent home with carprofen. Trusting my instincts, I took him to another veterinarian. They performed abdominal X-rays and immediately told me he was in the final stages of cancer, internally bleeding, and in active distress. They were visibly upset that palliative care had not been discussed and that his comfort had not been prioritized. My dog crossed the rainbow bridge the following day. This experience left me devastated--not just by the diagnosis, but by the lack of urgency, empathy, and guidance when it mattered most. End-of-life care requires not only medical knowledge, but compassion and clear communication. Sadly, that was missing here. Dr. Long, if you read this, I genuinely urge you to reflect on whether it may be time to step back, retire, or bring in additional support. Burnout is real--but animals and their families deserve presence, care, and dignity, especially at the end. read more

I went today, Friday 6.19.26 to get a follow up appointment for one of my cats. I went here 4-5 years ago initially to get my 2 cats spayed. I was very satisfied with the services and care received. I really like Dr. Long. Fast forward nearly 4 years later, and recently I just went back for follow up care for my 2 cats. These past few weeks, there have been UNENDING SCREW UPS with the office calling me and unfortunately I did not get the messages. This resulted in at least 2 missed appointments. I did discuss with the staff at the front desk that texting is better and that I will get the message right away. The staff at front desk response? "We only have a land line and cannot send text messages". Well, yesterday, 6.18.26 I received a call just after 9 in the morning confirming for today's visit. I called Roxford Vet back, was on hold for at least 10 minutes and no one ever came back on the line. I showed up this morning with my cat, the one cat I thought was supposed to be seen for a routine follow up . I was told that the appointment was for another cat. I hit the roof. I told the girl at the front desk that this was not acceptable. She then turned me over to another front desk employee who told me that it was my responsibility to check my messages and to make sure that the correct pet was brought in. I have NEVER had this happen with any other veterinary practices. I told the second person I spoke to at the front desk to cancel today's visit and to NOT charge me. I told them that I would not be back. It gets better. Dr. Long came out to the front desk and was able to hear part of the heated conversation. What did Dr. Long do? NOTHING. As a business owner, usually the business owner becomes concerned when there is a misunderstanding and when the topic of taking business away is mentioned, but no, nothing. I liked Dr. Long but lost respect for her after seeing this. There was absolutely ZERO attempt at customer services, remediation and reconciliation. Well, I WILL dispute today's charges if they appear on my Care Credit account. I told the second person I spoke to today that they needed to get with the times and get set up for texting. JEEZE LOUISE. I have read a couple of reviews that are in alignment with my experience. I work in the medical field myself and have noticed that in physician's offices and specialty medical groups, the persons working at the front desk can set the pace for the ambience provided by that medical practice. If you have people that are ignorant, self-righteous, UNTRAINED and arrogant, you will have that feeling of where the customer doesn't matter and that you are just a number. I hope that these reviews are taken seriously, as it will impact your business. read more

Dr Long is very knowledgeable and caring for your pets. She has been at that location for more than 30 years and has treated many of our fur babies through the years. From puppies/kittens to seniors, she is always there for you. Her prices are comparable to other vets in SoCal. Her staff are also very friendly and her office is very clean. Make sure to make an appointment, since her drop-in hours are very busy and you may have to wait a while for your examination. Off-street parking is provided in the parking lot, but does get filled up quickly; however, there is plenty of on-street parking around the business. read more

After searching endlessly for a vet that can spay our female cat, we were lucky to find Roxford Veterinary Clinic nearby our home. Location: it's in a small plaza on Glenoak Blvd. It is next to a smoke shop and near It's Boba Time tea shop. Pricing: Price is within the range of what other vets charge. We walked out paying around $250 and that includes the check up, spaying, the cone, extra pain medication, and the $30 LA County neutering discounts. Staff: Extremely friendly and responsive. Surgery: This place did a very good job on our cat's surgery. I say it because our male cat was neutered at a different place a week before, and he lost his voice with coughing due to the anesthesia. Today I had an appointment for my pet and I was about 20 mins late due to the fires since I was on the other side of town , there was a bit of traffic I have a I had arrived and tried checking in and tried to explain my situation to the girls in the front desk. They were immediately rude off the bat. And said there was nothing that they can do and that I would lose my deposit. I have been coming to this vet for many years and being a bit late has never been an issue and never was I treated or talk to the way I was today I know it has nothing to do with the doctor. I'm very disappointed in Dr longs new deposit policy. I've been coming to her for over 8-9 years. To even speak with her on the phone it's a 40$ fee for a walk in visit its 75$-85$ additional fee. My dog was ill and I had made an appt and had forgotten about it since my dog started feeling better and they called to remind me about my appointment. I wanted to canceI my appt and was told I couldn't get my money back. I also had an appt for my other dog to get neutered and wanted the deposit applied to that, I was told no and that I was losing my deposit. I moved far away and loved Dr long so I'd drive an hour and 20 minutes to come to her office. If I only could give 0 stars. For starters it's complete BS with the hours. The door might open by 8am,but nothing can get done because the vet doesn't even stroll in until after 10am. For the longest time they were great, but in the past few years it went downhill. Staff would be full and somehow still not pick up phones when all are just sitting there sometimes. The last straw was this last time with my almost 3yr old bull mastiff/Doberman mix. He wasn't well and wasn't eating,barely drinking, and seriously not acting like himself even with his favorite people. We took him in and the vet did a horrible job examining him. My pup is big and when he's at 100% he could be scary,but that day he wasn't even at 25% and yet the vet couldn't handle him because he was "uncooperative" and wouldn't let my brother (his owner) leave when it should've been a walk-in/drop off because they needed his help. Though it felt like they were more scared of the dog's size (134 lbs) to actual handle him. My brother gave permission to sedate if necessary to get what's needed,but they didn't and just said my pup had gastritis and there was no blockage according to THEIR x-rays and sent him home with anti-nausea pills. If we would've listened fully to them my pup would be dead. We took him to AV vet hospital and showed them the x-rays and every person who saw them said Roxfords x-rays were trash and couldn't see a damn thing because they were so bad. Took their own, and behold, my dog HAD A BLOCKAGE AND NEEDED SURGERY. They said that Roxford didn't do the right things to evaluate him correctly. AV was able to get the right views because they actual got multiple people to help maneuver him and said it's basic protocol that if a pet is becoming hard to handle because of behavior that sedation is the basic go to. They saved my dog when Roxford didn't even try because they were scared of him. It doesn't help that Dr.Lee seemed that she shouldn't be bothered whenever we tried to ask questions before we took him to the hospital. I had walked into ask something and she gave a half-ass answer that barely acknowledged the concerns we had and then started to walk away talking about a random thing to someone else. I don't know what happened to this place. They were good but then I think they stopped giving a damn. read more

Took my great Dane there to be spayed and have her first exam with them they were very nice being we were dealing with COVID-19. She had me call them on my phone and then they gave me the final information and cost and then came out and took my Great Dane. I thought they were very professional and also very kind. I called once I found out and I spoke to a rude girl who said too bad that's why we charge, even after mentioning I had called about not making my appt. It's not the amount of the deposit it's the fact that they're just lying and I'm sure this is not the first or last time they got away with it. I have been coming here for years with my Persian and Himalayan kitties. Dr. Long is awesome. She is knowledgeable, trustworthy, thorough in her examination, and compassionate. She is very considerate of my time which seems to be rare in her profession (at least in my experience). She's always on time for appointments. Whenever I call her to ask a question, she always calls back within 24 hours. Anytime I've had an emergency, she's always managed to make time to see my fur babies. Her fees are extremely reasonable. I totally get the bad reviews about the front office! One bad apple so they say! Kathryn wanted a $110 deposit over the phone or no appointment! Shocked I asked for the office manager who is also the Doctor! I was told she would call me only to get Kathryn two more times. Definitely a trouble maker! I have no idea what she said to the doctor. We had taken our pets here since 2000 when we moved to Sylmar. After two different occasions where we were turned away because they were too busy. One time was to put our beloved dog to sleep of old age where they said sorry we can't come back two days later because we are closed tomorrow. The other time they also said we can't see you because we are busy however they had no other patients in the waiting room. If you care for your pets and need a reliable vet that does more than just vaccines on vaccines days and spay and neuter find another vet. There are other vets close by who actually see patients even if they're not their own unlike this place that can't see their own patients who have gone there their whole lives. I have been here numerous times for different pets over the years. Today, I left the clinic saying to myself "don't go anywhere, Dr. Long." In 2017, I put my cat down with her. Didn't know it was going to hit me so hard. She was so kind in doing it and asked if i wanted to make my cat's pawprint in clay. Staff is professional. Joanna is the best! We started taking my dog a couple of months ago. We were very happy with the service at Rockford veterinary clinic. This afternoon a front desk worker by the name of Sabrina was rude and short with me over the phone .She never once thanked me after the payment was made over the phone, and was short and rude as well. She basically treated me like she was doing me a favor for taking a payment over the phone. The staff here has always been kind with me when I have either taken my dog in to the clinic or over the phone. 4 stars for the service, 2 stars for allowing there staff to treat customers rudely. read more

Well let me start off by saying thank you to Dr. Long! I took my pup in as a walk in, he was having ear pain. I knew I would have to wait a while since I didn't have an appointment. I arrived about 10:40 am and was seen about 12:00 pm. All I can say is the wait was way worth it! She took care of my pup in minutes, took foxtail out of his ear, gave him antibiotics and he seemed to be out of pain as soon as she was done with treatment. I was referred to Roxford by a friend of my sister whose husband and son take their dog there. My cat Tiger dropped his weight in June. I believe he was under stress just like the rest of the household when our house sold in July. I make an appointment for Tiger. The staff was nice and they even courtesy call you to remind you of your appointment. The staff takes us into the examination room. They ask all the pertinent questions and take his vitals. She was really nice to Tiger. Then enters Dr. Long who reads Tigers vitals. She wants to do a blood test. Sees that Tiger is dehydrated. She orders a blood test and tells me it would come back the next day. Dr. Long calls she let's me know that Tiger has an infection. She'll put him on antibiotics. His numbers are all over the place. He has kidney failure and says to give him fluids by IV to slow down the kidney failure. She recommended changing his diet. Tiger is finicky he loves his fancy feast gravy lovers or grilled chicken, turkey and beef. He's also a lover of people food. Dr. Long also tells me what Tiger doesn't suffer from. I got both sides of the pendulum. We begin Tigers new Regimine. He didn't like the kd diet. Tiger stayed fancy/people cat. Tiger had enough of every day IV. However, Tiger did suffer from vomiting. It wasn't consistent at that time, but then did become persistent. Again, Dr. Long put him on a prescription, that may not stop him from vomiting, but it would pass thru his bowels. It was wonderful medicine Tiger actually did stop vomiting on that med. I think that helped Tiger alot. I at this time, inquired about Euthanasia. I told her what happened with my cat Midnight and how Midnight was ripped away from me. He was never put in a twilight sleep, so I never got to say my good bye, nor did I get to hold him after they Euthanized him. Dr. Long told me everything that she does. Tiger was on the decline for the next 3 weeks and would not let go, even tho he was suffering so. I called on Thursday to find out the prices of Euthanasia. Rosie asked if i wanted Tigers ashes. She provided the price for that and a nameplate (they will put whatever you want it to say) and a paw print. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. She asked if I wanted to do it that night? I said no, I thought I would have to make an appointment. She said no not for that but they would like a heads up of when do you want to do it. For they would preferably have Tiger be the last patient. The family wanted to say good bye to him, if I knew we all could've went in to be there, I would've done it that night. Tiger didn't have a good day on Friday October 8th. So I called Roxford and gave them the date and the time. Dr. Long herself sterilized the room for Tiger. She put the clean towel down. She told me step by step what she was going to do, how Tiger might react, she told me to talk to Tiger and pet him, to divert him from the injection (Tiger handled the sedation injection very well, no reaction). Dr. Long then said she was going to step out to let the sedation take effect which is about 5 minutes and for me to say what I needed to say. She returned, told me he was sleepy now and she then put him on his side, to which Tiger and I were face to face. She then told me she was now going to administer the 2nd injection. Today October 9, 2021 at 2:20 pm is when Tiger crossed over the rainbow bridge. Dr. Long asked if I wanted to sit down and have her put Tiger in my arms? I sat and Dr. Long wrapped Tiger in the towel and put him in my arms and went to get the mold to cast his paw print, while I held Tiger and bawled. She came back and took his print. Asked if I wanted a lock of his hair and where do I have a particular place that I wanted, perhaps his favorite spot to be scratched? She then went out again to make sure that Tigers name was correctly spelled for the nameplate. This was a very compassionate, delicate situation. Dr. Long and her staff made it a very poignant, peaceful and yes loving moment. Dr. Long did everything she said she was going to do. She did not rush thru the process. This entire procedure was done w/respect for Tiger as well as the owners. Kudos to Dr. Long and her staff. I am forever grateful to you, Dr. Long for making this painful process very bearable. It was very hard for me to make that decision. Like you said it was my gift to Tiger, to take away his suffering and do it w/dignity and Love. Tiger very much loved us and we will forever love Tiger. I totally recommend Roxford Veterinary Clinic for your animals needs. If it wasn't for word of mouth by a happy customer and animal, I would've never have known what a wonderful Doctor, Dr. Long is and her staff. Blessings to all of you. read more
