The hosts weren't very welcoming. We got seated promptly and it really went downhill. It took 10 minutes, maybe longer, for someone to come to our table. We tried to simply order drinks, but the order device wasn't working and the waiter was clearly overwhelmed. He said he would get someone and be right back. Then we seen him at another table...we were still sitting there...no drinks, no food, nobody taking our order. What I assume to be the manager came over and said she heard we were in a rush (clearly not because at this point we had been patiently waiting 20+ minutes), and started to take our order. She also didn't have a machine and wasn't writing anything down so I knew that something was about to get messed up. I also inquired about the parking code since the host said the servers have it. The manager seemed confused at first and went to ask. We finally got it. Fast forward, a waitress comes to the table. We have to re-explain our orders. She tried her best, but my order was slightly incorrect. I didn't want sauce on my tamale. My friend and I weren't sure if we got passionfruit or peach margs. We ordered passionfruit. And lastly, they forgot my friend's queso until we reminded them. Maybe all this was a fluke, but from the experience and ok-ish food, I'm likely not going back. There are amazing Mexican restaurants in Atlanta and this isn't one of them in my opinion.

It seats maybe 10 and we received the best service imaginable. I love the little touches like putting a hook to the seat so you can hang your purse and providing a menu of the different food items we were eating with a "passport" stamp of when the food we were consuming arrived! But now onto the food... Again, I don't want to ruin the experience for everyone but I would like to point out that their dishes are very good and so fresh. We've tried other omakase restaurants and this place doesn't just serve sushi rolls, the food their serve takes on a journey or the different specialties Japan has to offer. Our personal favorites were the sawara from the zen garden course (the pickled ramp was such an interesting and inventive addition that made this way better), nama uni from the gai course (some quality uni that I would be dreaming about for days to come) and Chu-toro from the nigiri course (it was the right amount of fat for my personal preference). The Yaki sakana and sukiyaki courses were my favorites because of all the flavors these courses delivered. This was definitely on a pricier end for $255 per person, plus drinks - their cocktails were $20 each, they have a great selection of sake/wine as well. We had tickets to a show at 8:00 the next night's... no time to drive anywhere. Birthday dinner circling the drain. Enter Matthew, the general manager. He didn't make excuses or hide behind policy. He called my name across a crowded lobby, gave it to me straight -- "the answer's not good" -- and then found the answer anyway: two seats at the end of the bar, full menu. Done. And then he didn't disappear. All night we watched this man work the room, help the kitchen, and at one point he was in the back personally mashing the potatoes. We even discovered our birthdays are one day apart. As he put it: things like that happen for a reason. Now the food, because it earned its own paragraph. Bison bone-in ribeye -- fantastic, cooked perfectly. Garlic mashed potatoes (Matthew-mashed, possibly) and roasted asparagus were excellent. My wife's bison meatloaf with wedge salad and roasted carrots was top notch. "Salt-and-pepper onion rings to start -- which Matthew sent out on the house -- get them. And the blueberry cheesecake, also on the house for the birthday, did not disappoint." Our waitress Nara was attentive and sharp, and sitting at the end of the bar face-to-face with the kitchen crew turned dinner into dinner theater -- those folks are genuinely funny. And the encore: thirty minutes into our show across town, my wife realized she'd left her earphones at the restaurant. Before she could even get back -- Matthew had already sent a young man to FIND US at the venue and return them. He spotted me by my loud and proud Mount Rushmore shirt. A reservation mix-up that wasn't even this location's fault, and they treated us like family anyway. That's not policy, that's character.
