I wish the noodles wasn't boxed hot because by the time it came to my home, it was super overcooked and soggy. Other than that everything was very tasty. I ordered the mixed chicken rack and the puff paratha from them and both were really tasty. The mixed chicken rack was a bit bone heavy and most of the chicken was cut into itty bitty pieces, but what was there was delicious. It was juicy, had a strong cumin flavor, and left you wanting more. The puffed paratha (we added sausage) was good as well. The only thing I wish was that the portions were larger. As others have said, Northeast Sisters is located in the Hood Kitchen Space (they have several kitchens that can be rented out or for pop up events). I ordered online for ASAP pickup "after" 1230pm. I got there around 1235pm went inside and there was a glass partition where the kitchen is located right in front of me. To the right was a mini cafe and I didn't really know what to do until the lady working at the cafe asked me if she could help. She then told me to call the number on the pamphlet for Northeast Sisters. I called and they didn't have my order and then a few seconds later they said they just got it. I can totally understand this being a startup and the workflow being a little hectic but I didn't receive an apology or how much longer I should wait. So after a few more seconds of silence, I asked what time should I come back to pickup? I said maybe around 1pm? They said yes. My food was ready around 1255pm, everything was packaged well. Patrons there were wearing face masks. This was a slightly awkward pickup experience. The good: 1. Spicy Hot Pot - I ordered highest level spice and it had a decent kick. I say about a 6 or 7 out of 10. The flavors were pretty good and it had a fair amount of vegetables, seaweed knots, fish balls, etc. I thought for the price this was quite worth it. I would get this again. The alright: 1. Roasted Cold Noodles - I really wanted to like this however, I felt it was average? To me, the noodles had a weird texture. I added Shanghai Chicken Sausage and they were decent. The sauce was good though my order was devoid of spice despite ordering the spiciest. Maybe I was expecting something else? I really like their Grilled Cold Noodles. It's my go to dish, buy one get one free on delivery (not sure in store, I always order delivery) and very authentic. Great value of money. Possibly the best meal I had in OC. The beef noodle soup was amazing. The beef and veggies were delicious and the broth was slightly spicy and perfect. Definitely a 5/5! If you have been to northeast of China, these street food are the MUST HAVE. I ordered medium spicy for the hotpot noodle and it's really spicy (I can't eat a lot of spicy food but love it). The fried noodles and hot pot noodles are my favourite!! So the idea of "roasted" "cold" noodles was interesting to me, but the photos of it looked so good, i was curious to try it. I will tell you that this is not a cold dish, It's layers of thick clear noodles dripped in egg to form a "wrap", which you can customize with your choice of protein. My order for roasted cold noodles was: extra egg, enoki mushrooms, and spam. It was SO BOMB. There sauce was delicious as well, it tasted like a Asian barbecue sauce, with a slight spice/heat. Their menu is pretty straightforward and not overwhelming. I tried the roasted cold noodles with just egg (weird note -- I was charged for listing egg as an add-on, but it normally comes with it?? Perhaps it was unnecessary to check the box for egg) and rich, spicy sauce. The sauce was really tasty, but not really spicy. I also wish they had given more because it was a little dry. It was a decent serving size if you're not too hungry. Yes, I was a bit confused the way this restaurant functioned at this shared location but everyone is helpful and kind so it was not too difficult to get what I needed. The lady who attended me was kind and made suggestions on my order. I got the Roasted Cold Noodle with the Chinese Sausage add-on (mild--I'll go spicy next time) and two orders of Shredded Chicken as it was buy one get one free on Friday. The Roasted Cold Noodle was delicious with its velvety egg and sauce. I gobbled this up like a mukbanger. The shredded chicken on the other hand was another story. I figured I was going to take the other serving home for dinner until I opened it up to eat at lunch. I will say, the flavor is good but the content was primarily discards of chicken bones with tiny pieces of meat clinging to the carcass. I admit that I'm a failed Asian sometimes and don't always clean my chicken bones when I eat, so to have two servings of a dish that looks like my leftovers was strange. I don't know if this dish is for people who love to clean their loved ones chicken bones (these people exist, trust me, they're in my family...hehe) but I was so hungry that I had to hold myself back from chipping a tooth or choking on a bone to try to get whatever delicious meat I could find. I will definitely go back for that Noodle dish but I definitely would love to get shredded chicken vs shredded chicken bones. The worst beef noodle soup I've ever encountered. First off I call in to place my order (since grubhub, postmates etc. charge extra fees for everything) for takeout. Girl on the phone tells me to order through their website and that she can't take my order over the phone.. ok... I order on their site and they still charge me a service fee lol whatever that's fine. I get there and they have instructions to call the restaurant and someone will bring out my food to me. I do that and they call back and ask me to come get it from them since "the door is locked and she didn't want to get locked out" again cool it's fine I get it, it's starting to get late, I understand being cautious. I get home and the presentation is WACK. My order was thrown together with the quickness, no green onions or cilantro (when I definitely asked for it) and ONE LEAF of bok choy and a slice of daikon??? Mind you the "braised beef shank" is four tiny ass slices that looks like they cut ONE ACTUAL PIECE into 4 tiny ones! Dude wtf! And the NOODLES, worst noodles I've ever eaten. They definitely overboiled them, looked at my order and said eh close enough. There is no chew whatsoever, literally falls apart as my mouth touches it. This place is a little tricky to order from because it's a ghost kitchen so you can't order inside. It's online order only. Pick-up process is decent, you simply wait outside the building until your order is ready and they will bring it out. The food though... It is just medicore for the price. I ordered the spicy hot pot and grilled cold noodles which came out to be about $26. The portions are small especially with the grilled cold noodles and the flavor doesn't really make up for it. It also sucks that the spicy hot pot doesn't come with any meat or meat-based option and is a $5 add-on. The hot pot uses a instant pack of hot pot seasoning as I could tell from the leftover yellow paste on the edge of the bowl which meant it wasn't even mixed or boiled all the way through. I'm disappointed as I keep seeing this place pop up whenever I search for places to eat on Yelp so I wanted to give this place a try. Although I can understand some of the 5-star reviews because it is decent Chinese food but if you're really looking for Chinese food, other SiChuan restaurants are better or make a drive to the 626 and it'll for sure be better. read more
