Important note: This company was bought by Dunrite Heating and Air. Please read their reviews…read morebefore calling this company. Sadly, the owner of Nick's passed away and this company is now owned by Dunrite. I called that company based on the reviews of Nick's Air Services, but their services has definitely NOT been the same as mentioned on this profile. In summary, this company is expensive, can make improper recommendations, and the office is very difficult to get anyone to call you back. I absolutely would not use them again in the future and - had I read their Yelp profile for Dunrite Heating & Cooling - would never have called them in the first place. My experience: My air conditioning due to leaked refrigerant due to another HVAC technician not correct. Nick's/Dunrite came out during the same day and quickly identified the problem. There was a leak on the schrader valve. They got us back to running - for nearly $200/per pound of refrigerant. 5 lbs = about $1,000. Wow, but we had no choice as my original installer was not available. Our unit has not been keeping up with the 90s for the past two months and the technician recommended 3 different options. I chose 2 of the 3 options: a larger return air duct AND repairing the plenum. I was anxious to get the work scheduled and it took me hounding them to get them to schedule the work. Communicating with this office was very painful. I would never get calls back and would just get a text message indicating when they had scheduled the appointment. Their front desk support was exceedingly helpful but not empowered to do anything besides schedule appointments and pass along info. I finally had the appointment and the technician went to the wrong address. I got a call from them saying they had been at my house and then they proceeded to the next job. I spoke to them and learned they were at the wrong house, but could not turn around to go back to my house. I had to wait until the following week to get the appointment rescheduled. What a disaster. It got worse. The work was finally done - the return air duct and the plenum. I waited a couple of days, but there was NO change in the air conditioning. I called them back again and they scheduled another technician to come out. The second technician came out, a more senior technician, who confirmed that the unit was undersized and "working as it was designed" to cool at 75-76. I don't know a single person who is comfortable with 75-76 in the house when the outside is in the 90s. I called customer service again. When I finally got someone, I got a call from William, who is their most senior technician (an older guys in his late-50s probably). He came out with the original technical and instructed him how to properly do a heat load calculation. They determined indeed the unit is undersized and I needed a 3 ton. I called back the customer service asking for a refund to the work. I've called at least 3-4 times, each time speaking with a very nice person. However, I've still not been called back. What a disaster. I've finally had to resort to filing a complaint with my credit card and disputing it through them. It's unfortunate and I didn't want to have to do this, but - when no one will call you back - it's very very hard to trust this company to make things right.

I needed service on my A/C unit Dun-Rite showed up with 2 service trucks and 2 Tech's /salesman they did troubleshoot it and then proceeded to show me my new system options$$$$ Sorry I like the small local guy that gave me outstanding service and a price that didn't brake the bank.. Three technicians did not arrive until around 9:00 PM. At the time, I did not realize I would be charged $150 per hour for each person. Later, the owner also came to the property, and his time was added to the labor charges as well. We have five A/C units. They spent more than two hours trying to determine which thermostat/controller was connected to which rooftop unit. They were unable to figure it out until the owner arrived. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the owner complained to me about how long it had taken. When he tried to explain the system and I did not understand, he sighed and spoke to me in a condescending manner, telling me that I did not understand air conditioning. During the rooftop work, one of their technicians turned off the switch/disconnect to another A/C unit that had been working normally -- the unit serving our office and restroom. Approximately 30 minutes after they went onto the roof, that A/C stopped working. I immediately brought this to their attention, and they told me not to worry. Around 11:30 PM, they finally repaired the A/C unit that was the reason for the original service call. By midnight, however, they said it was too late and they needed to leave without restoring the office/restroom A/C. Instead, they opened the indoor unit and told me the belt was loose, the filter was extremely dirty, and there was water inside. They then told me to call another HVAC company to repair it because they could not return that week. The owner even told me that I would probably call other companies and eventually come back to him asking for help. As a result, our office and restroom were without A/C on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Saturday, I paid another HVAC company to replace the belt and inspect the indoor equipment. They found no issue that explained why the system would not operate. I then went to the rooftop and discovered that the rooftop switch had been left in the OFF position after Avery's work. When I contacted Avery's about this, they denied responsibility. I asked them to return and correct the problem. They initially refused, but after further discussion, they agreed to come Monday morning. On Monday, three people came back again. They went onto the roof and told me that the capacitors appeared to be leaking oil and suggested that this might be why the unit was not operating. I asked them to replace the capacitors, but they refused and told me to have another company do it. Then, somehow, they were able to get the A/C operating again before they left -- without replacing the capacitors they had just identified as the possible problem. What made the situation even more frustrating was the billing. The owner had told me by phone that he would not charge me for the return visit, but I was later charged for it anyway. The customer service was just as troubling as the technical experience. During our conversations, the owner called me a "dangerous customer." He also told me that because my A/C systems had supposedly not been maintained for 10 years, they would all eventually fail, that repairing everything could potentially cost around $300,000, and that I should consider selling my business quickly. I called an HVAC company because I needed an air conditioner repaired. I did not call to be talked down to, have a working A/C unit left switched off, be told to hire another company to finish the work, be charged after being told I would not be charged, or receive unsolicited advice to sell my business. I own and operate a restaurant, so reliable A/C service and professional communication are extremely important. Based on my experience with Avery's, I will never use this company again and cannot recommend them to other business owners.

To Rescue Air's credit, they had been warning us each time they came out for HVAC Filter rotations. Thankfully, Rescue Air's ace plumbing expert Mr. Phillip Blystone was dispatched to my home to assess the situation. Within minutes he identified the issue and immediately started to work out a plan and arrangement my family could manage to cover the expense of the Water Heater replacement: the source of the leaking problem. Rescue Air has a very long history of working with my family since we've been in this home (2016), so that level of service is a given these days. But that's not the complete reason for the 5-Star rating. The next day, now with a working heater, my wife and I discovered that a leak was still present in the Garage. Upon calling Rescue Air to let them know what was going on, Mr. Blystone responded swiftly to our location to triage the leak. Using both his advanced equipment and intuition, he found that in spite of the solid repair and replace he and his team performed of the water heater, a leak was sadly missed during the initial assessment. Most other business would likely have tacked on a "not-our-problem" sort of response to this. However, Mr. Blystone and by extension Rescue Air are not your normal type of company. With careful consideration of the economic circumstance of the recent repair & purchase, balancing years of customer loyalty and being a genuinely saint, Mr. Blystone proceeded to isolate and resolve the leak (a small puncture hole in the T-pipe hot-water line leading from the heater) pro-gratis. Completely unexpected, but definitely much appreciated! It goes without saying it would be extremely foolish for my family to consider doing business with anyone else in the Dallas Metro given Rescue Air's track record with our family. The value lost would be far too great. While I hope to not need their services as often as recently, I definitely look forward to working with them and Mr. Blystone should the need arise again.

I hired Rescue Air & Plumbing in 2023 for routine maintenance on the original AC in our home. What…read moreshould have been a simple visit turned into high pressure sales tactics. They claimed safety issues, pushed contracts in front of me, and scheduled installation for the next day. I tried to cancel but was told I was locked in. I ended up spending around $30,000. After the installation, every maintenance visit came with aggressive attempts to sell me more services I did not need. Then the new system failed in 106 degree heat. The compressor failed at only 16 months old. Communication was poor, and I was left without AC for about seven days. I had to repeatedly chase them for updates. They did not have the part, did not follow up, and someone finally arrived at 10:30 PM after days of waiting. They gave me a two year complimentary membership as compensation. I assumed the membership would end after the two free years. My card on file had expired, yet in May and June 2026 the company suddenly began charging me again. This suggests someone manually updated my card information without my permission. I never authorized a renewal, never received a renewal notice, and never received invoices for any charges. They refunded the charges I caught, but then claimed I owed $95.80 for four months of fees that were never billed and never agreed to. I asked for written confirmation of a zero balance and never received a direct response. They only responded to the BBB and stated the account was at zero. Based on my experience with both service and billing, I strongly recommend being cautious before using this company.
