One day I took my Volvo (a veteran of foreign wars and interstate travels) here mostly because of the shop's proximity. Since then, fate and circumstance and intuition have turned me into a repeat customer. Simply put, I can confidently stumble into Northwest Imports with my failing car and blind trust and know that whatever the diagnosis or price quote, it will be fair, honest, and in my best interest. They've never pulled the "I can't in good conscience let you drive out of here without replacing your {insert expensive car part here}" spiel that some mechanics (chains and dealerships, usually) have attempted with me. They do solid work and their prices are reasonable (their repair estimates compare favorably to what I could find on the Internet). Several times they've referred me to another mechanic or specialist (a body shop one time; a muffler shop the other) because the business they referred me to could do a better job or had access to cheaper parts. Also, its perhaps the only mechanic I've patronized that keeps their waiting room stocked with complimentary Gatorade (instead of miniature bottled water). These guys are great! I called in after 2pm. as I was leaving on a road trip the next day to Florida and felt like my air conditioning was not working to it's potential on my Mercedes E350. They were friendly and told me to bring in my car to check it out. After bringing in my car they brought me back to my home so I did not have to wait for the afternoon and also picked me up when the car for ready to be picked up. They check out the air conditioning and felt that it needed a small recharge but nothing significant. On top of that they did not charge me for this service. Took a new-to-me 2002 Porsche Boxster in upon the recommendation of a Porsche racing mechanic (Steve Henry). He'd done a PPI before I bought the car, and I took the car and the report in last week. Steve and I had calculated that roughly $1500 worth of work was needed. Gave the mechanic's report to Tracy, and several days later, all the issues were addressed, plus programming a new remote, for just $200 over the estimate. David, the owner, seemed quite interested in the car even though I was a new-to-him customer, and I was very pleased to see all the issues were addressed with aplomb. NW Imports is a very logical place to go it you don't want to be at the mercy of the only Porsche dealership in Austin. Through a bit of research, I came across the reviews for this shop. I am always weary about trusting all that I read. These guys did not disappoint! After getting a few quotes from other mechanics, I stopped by and was quoted half of what others proposed. I needed a couple belts replaced and dropped of my car around noon. They not only offered me a ride but had my car done a few hours later! This will be the only place that I bring my Infiniti from here on out! I brought my car in due to several check engine light ups. I had been told by the Nissan dealership that I would need to replace my motor mounts which would cost me $3000. Northwest Imports was fast, courteous and honest. I only had to replace a fuel cap and only was charged $137. Definitely will be returning for any car issues!! read more

My wife's 2011 Audi A6 3.0T has been serviced by NW Imports since we bought it in early 2014. Tracy and David, as well as the technician team have done a fantastic job of maintaining and repairing this vehicle. I have to say, I'm not a big Yelp fan because it gives the "village idiot" a voice, and too much power, but this time it paid off as a reference tool because the high rankings match the service. Sorry to say the next Oil Change/Service interval visit will likely be our last since we are moving to New Orleans. Hope we can find a nice independent shop as this in Louisiana. I took my car to Northwest Imports last week when the check engine light came on and it wouldn't accelerate more than 40 mph. Yikes! Andrew and David were courteous on the phone as well as in person and I was able to make an appointment to get it in right away. Each staff member there was polite, prompt and professional. They kept me updated over the phone of what was going on with the car and that they were looking to see if the issue would be under warranty. When I picked the car up, David told me that the issue was under warranty after all and would have been no cost if I would have had it repaired at the dealership. Then he said (BRACE yourself people), "I don't feel right about charging you when you could've gotten it fixed for free at the dealership so there is no charge today." WHAT?!?!?!?! I obviously thanked him profusely but WOW does this show the kind of HONESTY and INTEGRITY this business has? I am now a lifelong customer and won't take my car anywhere else. I took my S2000 in with a problem with the clutch or transmission. They could've told me just about anything and I would believe them everything from having a the clutch replaced or to needing hydraulic hoses. It seems every time we have to do a major repair 3 days later something is wrong again. Sometimes, they have the car for many days or a week and have never offered a rental car. When my husband's 2009 Audi A4 started to make a terrible noise, he was worried about where to take it for repair since we are new to the Austin area and didn't know any mechanics. He looked up reviews about the local Audi dealership service department, but they were so poor that they made him feel nervous about taking his Audi there for service. Fortunately, one reviewer mentioned Northwest Imports as a cost-effective alternative, so he looked at their reviews. My husband called and they were able to take his car in on the same day. The shop door was open when he pulled up, so they were able to hear the sound his car was making. My husband was impressed that Dave was immediately able to tell what was wrong with it. He also mentioned that he was having problems with the keyless entry that the local Audi dealership had been unable to diagnose. We're happy to report that Dave was able to quickly and easily repair all the problems that he had with his car. In addition, he found some problems from a previous repair that had been done poorly at another facility and fixed them for no charge. They also found a rental car for my husband during a local busy time, and took him to the rental agency. Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to take our car back to this shop. Also of note is that Dave's mechanics seem to have worked for him for years. This is important to us because we like a place that takes care of their most valuable asset, their professionals. read more

I've been going to NW for about 4 or 5 years now. I could praise their work but good mechanics are fairly easy to find. What sets them apart is their customer service. In particular David and Andrew. Andrew in particular was there to give me a ride to and from Round Rock, entertain my toddler son, and give me practical car advice. Whenever I leave, I don't ever feel taken advantage of. I brought my 2008 Volvo S60 in as it was acting up with the check engine light and misfiring. The performed various diagnostics on the engine and identified a problem with the fuel system and replace the fuel pump and injectors and replaced them...on my way home the engine light came on, I called in and the next thing I know the owner, David, himself came over and picked up the car. They spent a couple days analyzing and then a couple test driving before and made sure that everything was 100% working before returning (it turned out the new fuel pump from Volvo was very intermittently not working right). Not only that, but they ran into a couple of other items that might go wrong soon (fuel pressure sensor and camshaft solenoid) and replaced them free of charge.
